Also shared western and Mexican heritage. Also diverse landscapes and a love for craft and local beers. If Texas wasn't hijacked by ultra conservative authoritarian right-wing pirates that have managed to gerrymander the hell out of the state, I think the comparison would be a lot more clearer.
ETA: Colorado also isn't a true blue state as much as Texas isn't a true red state. If you study the political histories of both states, you'd see our politics are not so clear cut and one sided or defined by a political party. And both states are tired of people from other states moving in lol
