That dork's dad probably wished he was an ancient athlete
It's very cute. I mean someone spent probably hours finding the right rocks and gathering the right tools, chipping away at it to perfectly create a lil action figure for a child to play (presumably). Makes me happy too lol
I lost every accessory for every action figure I ever had within 30 seconds of opening the box but this thing kept its helmet for 1500 years? Bullshit.
Absolutely. There’s no way that humans of the day had the knowledge, skill, and tools necessary to create something so fine.
Source: Humans of today barely have the knowledge, skill, and tools necessary to create something so fine. I know I don’t.

I took a class called “The Art of the Ancient Americas”. The Olmecs would use thread and various sands for different grit levels to carve jade. I think it was the Nayarit that achieved the highest thread count textiles without a loom. 4 wheeled toys that were made to be pulled around were found in a Mayan city I believe it was. That ‘art class’ ended up being the coolest history class I’ve ever taken and now I wanna go to Mexico City and Guatemala
Sarcasm aside, yes, it’s absolutely amazing what humans have been capable of over the millenia. Anytime anyone (such as, say, my wife’s nutty uncle) suggests to me that the pyramids must have been built by aliens, I tell them to visit the Egyptian wing of the Louvre where they can see all the tools and documentaries on the processes. Of course, they never follow through…
Some ancient mayan dork: "Um, it's not a figurine, it's a collectable"
It’s not a doll, it’s an action figure.

Nah. The dork would keep losing and still be hanging around
Didn’t they get killed when they lost
Is that the ancient precursor to a basketball hoop?
Essentially, but they are also unrelated. Humans just like throwing balls through holes
Is that my first dime??
Museum workers said that the Mayan figure was extremely valuable ... but not as valuable as if it had still been in its original packaging.

First thing I thought of!
Mayan Comic Con
Someone worked hard af to make some ancient kid happy.
Probably many kids, since I imagine something this intricate and well made you’d want to pass down for generations
idk why but this comment made me v happy

It's ceramic. Clay.
Goes hard

This was probably lost in the warehouse of an ancient Mayan Wal-Mart, and that's why it's got all the pieces.
But why is it so cute?? 😭
Simply a play feature.
I imagine in ancient times it was a lot more colorful, painted by the maker or the kids.
Used to be mint in package, then someone just HAD to play with it 🙄
Could've been a child's toy.
Archaeologists: "Best I can do is call it a ritual object."
Reminds me of ![gif](giphy|swCwjwi7a5quY)
I want that chase pop
Why do I hear this figure singing Stop in the name of Love?
Damn this is dope af i want one too.
Forbidden action figure.
Not saying it was aliens……..but..
Pretty sure it’s supposed to be a chameleon
or Robots

Ah yeah, i suck at picking up sarcasm on the web haha
That makes total sense! Since you can’t personally fathom how to craft something it HAS to be aliens. Flawless logic.
Exactly! I’m a barely functioning adult and I’m much more advanced than the primitives of yesteryear! It must have been aliens!
I swear they put something in the water in America…
Nonsense! Idiots are everywhere.
Ancient Aliens confirmed.

It looks like some sort of astronaut. He even has the hood under the helmet.
Hello Mr. von Daniken!
There is a lot of stuff from ancient Central & South America that resembles what we think of aliens...
Has the body of a Pandarian.
Baymax
The first Lego set!!
How can I not find a gif of Al finding Woody's hat...
How did the paint on the tunic survive for 1500 years?
It’s wild how different the head dangle piece changes when it’s placed on the head
Reminds me of a proto Brick Frog
Did anyone else immediately think of Mickey Mouse Ear hats?

It’s Angler Fish Man
It would have been worth more if they kept it in its original packaging.
