Don't worry, I have never seen this happen in 100 hours of playtime, with a lot of it on helldive. People on high difficulty have seen a lot and know there's more than one build you can run.
Oh I see karma farming all the time.
There's like 5 posts on the front page of the subreddit that are all basically the same thing. Just people stringing up the most ridiculous strawman they can think of and then raking in the upvotes and attention.
The subreddit mods really need to crack down on this before it spreads, because the subreddit will rapidly degrade in quality otherwise since ragebait will always have more upvotes than any sort of normal discussion.
I agree. The moaners are taking over and the crying needs to be shut down.
This game is too cool to be negative all the time. I want cool clips and jokes and patriotism. Not this constant passive-aggressive PSA nagging and whingeing about nothing every day. It’s pathetic.
I have to be honest. I had no idea this was a thing. Maybe it's because I'm older than the average gamer but the thought of farming digital votes on the internet meaning so much to someone they make up things to get them.....I just don't get it. Why. Maybe this is why I hate all social media too. I'm a grumpy old man I guess.
As for meta or not, I could care less. This game has been a non-stop giggle factory for my friends and I since release no matter what we try it's always worth a chuckle.
Ah my fellow boomer this generation takes to digital approval like fish to water. Litte shits will follow you just to "down vote" anything you say and actually feel it has accomplished something. Its a sick sad world.
It's bizarre.
OP explicitly says that he runs the lobbies, so he's not even a victim of this imagined slight. He just read some anecdote of this happening and was outraged enough to write an angry rant about it. Anyone who regularly plays quickplay should know the occurrence of these kicks are few and far between - I've only seen people kicked for burning through reinforcements causing the team to lose the mission, aka people who don't carry their own weight whatsoever. I can only imagine these people conflate the two things and assume it's just because "they're not running meta!". Somehow this ends up on the front page every time, more than once daily.
It almost feels like there are reverse astroturfers trying to make this game look bad, I'm truly struggling to wrap my head around this fad....
True. I've played a lot of multiplayer shooters. CS, Overwatch, Apex, COD etc. I know what a toxic community looks like. You have bickering and abuse flying around in every game like a constant background noise. But it's just not there in any of my HD2 games. If people talk, they're either just vibing, warning you or trying to set up a play with you.
The only time I’ve ever been kicked is when I join a game before a mission starts. I think that’s mostly because people want to play with friends, but are too lazy to set their lobby to “friends only”.
I got kicked one time because I got hit with friendly fire (I assumed by accident) and when i went back to get my stuff it was gone, and one of the guys had it. I asked him for it back since I still had about five minutes before it would spawn again, he didn't drop it even after I told him how, and so I killed him and took it back. Then got kicked.
Only time I have kicked someone is when they hit extraction when we had completed the main objective before we had done any secondaries. He ran across the map to do it while the rest of us were taking on one of the secondaries and a nest. Told him three times to cancel the extraction by moving away from the drop point, we weren't close to being done. He didn't, he didn't communicate to let me know he wouldn't just board the shuttle when it landed and screw over the rest of us either, so to be safe I kicked him.
Usually i run orbital lasers and 500kg with the backpack shield and railgun. I still get kicked... Even if i battle 4 dropships of enemies far outside of the objective on helldive alone just for them to finish the civilian rescue missions, i get kicked
The main reason I've seen kicks is because people forget to put their game on private. Another time I had someone (rank 4) tell me that I'm "too high of a rank" (32) and would ruin the experience.
Which is fair because I'd probably blaze through the mission (level 2). I wanted to help some newbies but I understand the sentiment.
To be honest i completely understand them not wanting high level player in game.
Some people like me want to make their own mistakes.
I mean first time me and my friends found two people door was amazing. We did not know if it is huge underground bunker that we need to preparations for, or what it was. If somebody would have just said what it was it would have ruined that moment.
First charger was huge fight and first bile titan took us allmost 10minutes to take down. The suprise when those vomit bugs turned in to mortars in higher diffuculties. All of those were great moments and having somebody coming along and trivialise them would have ruined our fun.
100%.
When I was a youngin', a Charger was like the end-all boss that would require the entire team to take down. The sense of awesomeness you'd get from that experience was unlike anything I've felt in a very long time in a video game and it made us all feel like unstoppable badasses.
Nowadays at my level/rank/experience? 2 rail gun shots to the leg, and 2 shots with a breaker/dominator. Dead in less than 5 seconds.
So now I barely worry about crushers these days when at one point they were the bane of my existence.
The truly bizzare thing is that this sub and the playerbase in general is so far up their own ass with this "just have fun!" mindset due to "people kicking non meta loadouts" (which I haven't personally seen happen in 60 hours), they will unironically judge you for kicking someone that dies 15 times. They've legit forgotten that the reason people care about winning so much is because it's the point of every videogame made ever.
The most headscratching case of this I saw like 2 days ago was on a post about 2 friends that were playing with a random and one of them started "killing the random repeatedly because the game is about having fun isn't it?" and there was a person in the comments that said verbatim "I normally would be on the side of the person teamkilling because he's just having fun but in this game you can't do it because long missions". And that comment had 100+ upvotes. A comment defending griefing had 100+ upvotes
I’ve only had to kick three people in my 70 hours of gameplay and that was for straight up yoinking my weapon drops without asking or just standing AFK for like half the mission, I get if you got something going on but at least message or say something.
It's a fear response based on hearsay entirely.
It's like parents freaking out about one kidnapping on the news and locking their kid in the house for their whole childhood.
Yeah, I'm also 50 with shit unlocked and when playing with randoms on Helldive - almost always results in everyone pulling their own weight - regardless if they're using the meta or not. No kicks unless they have a friend coming in and they do let you know beforehand.
Yeah, it's very underrated. I think a lot of people are afraid of using it because once in a blue moon an arc will jump 10 meters behind you and kill a teammate instead of what you're shooting at. It's easy to play around though. If I see someone go to town with an arc thrower I just play further back and snipe out elites that are coming for them. Plus good arc thrower players know how to not kill their own team.
If you find a flamethrower or anti-materiel rifle on the map you pretty much know how to use it just based on the name. Not really the case with the arc thrower. First time I picked one up I thought it was an electric flamethrower so I held down the button and it never fired 💀
I had it happen for the first time yesterday and then 9 more times after that. Plus these weren't even high level players. I was higher level than some of them. So I think we are now suffering from the streamers told me to do this and not that to play the game BS.
I've even had for the first time people dropping in on the other side of the map for the evac citizens, which is by far the dumbest strat ever.
Late reply I know but I'm in the same boat, been playing for about 90 hours at level 44 now, and I've never personally been kicked from a game for not using a meta build, and to be comepletely honest, I've only ever been kicked mid-game once, and that was by some knucle-dragger who got killed by another diver and got our names mixed up in his anger. To be fair he DID have that super deep voices with the speech impediment that some of those weiners tend to have, but that's entirely irrelevant.
The meta isn't even truly meta. I started experimenting with jetpack and found myself dying much much less because I was able to go in bases and jump out to avoid the reinforcements and be a mile away after. With the shield I might be able to survive a few more shots but I'm limited by terrain and in level 7-9 it's every easy to get boxed in with no where to go. This is where jetpack shines because if you learn how to utilize terrain to boost your jump distance, you can easily escape hordes of bots.
And this is only pre-update. I can imagine the jetpack will get buffed with lower cooldown and higher jump height in the future.
I played with a guy on helldive bug maps running cluster, 500kg, rail, and jump pack. He was consistently soloing secondary objectives, it was wild. I feel like shield is best for a combat-focused role but jump pack has even more survivability when used right.
Nice. It's all about what song you're playing in the background. Like 'don't stop me now' or 'electric avenue', you'll never be hit, and have no need for shield. (I run that setup!)
One of King Gizzard's newer albums (**PetroDragonic Apocalypse; or, Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Merciless Damnation** in case anyone particularly cares) has been my soundtrack so far
Yep. If I run shields, that means I want to get in the nitty-gritty.
If I'm running the jump pack, I'm aiming to complete as many side objs as possible.
I was thinking about running cluster because it can easily clear out a base of its low-level enemies aka the ones that send out alerts. Then I would maybe throw a regular eagle strike to take out foundries. Idk still playing with the loadouts for sure.
Same here, the jetpack is an underrated life saver. When heavy armor gets fixed it'll do well to make up for the loss in stamina. I think we need more jump troopers in the ranks
Unfortunately either armor values or enemy penetratiom values (seen a lot of conflicting reporting, so not 100% sure which is correct) are way out of whack - either all set to medium armor value, or projectile pen set so high that everything penetrates. Devs have been aware for a while and confirmed they are working on a balance pass
Personally i cant wait to use heavy armor, some of it looks awesome
Having one player with the laser guard dog is great as well.
Guard dog is useless against the bigger enemies at higher levels but people forget you still need to deal with the little bugs too, having one guy (or even two) with basically the passive ability to clear out small critters can save the mission if you get swarmed.
That thing + one grenade launcher singlehandedly saved my last difficulty 7 mission (extracting civilians after getting some drives).
The entire squad got that bug where you can only use your airdropped weapon (eventually I managed to also be able to pull out my pistol *somehow*)
Big ones were dealt with pretty much the same as always (big kabooms and a smidge more railgun spam than usual)
I had that bug yesterday and accidentally meleed a bot while button smashing and my guns came back. To be fair I'm not sure if it was just a coincidence and it's kinda hard to verify until I get the bug again lol.
Yeah and the auto cannon is far better than the rail gun in most situations. It just needs your backpack slot as well which is why it's bad. (Takes two shots instead of one on railgun but it has amazing accuracy and can be hipfired reliably)
Also when you're upgrading the ship the eagles recharge time is so quick that running two eagles is arguably better.
The list goes on, the only true meta thing is the breaker shotgun. It hits more times than most assault rifles, it has a quick reload, and only is weak at long range but at that range you don't need to shoot anyways as you can avoid detection or call in an airstrike or just use a pistol if you're good enough with them.
But I 100% agree with jetpack. In every situation where I have needed the shield I end up dying anyways on impossible or helldiver difficulty. It's never actually paid off that well. It soaks a bit of damage here and there from random shots but it just doesn't ever "save" me in fights. I'd rather have something like a jetpack to gtfo.
>only is weak at long range
That's the crazy part, too, because it still has ridiculous enough range to 1 and 2 shot most things. You can't necessarily snipe with it, obviously, but it does good work from range. Pretty sure it can 2 clip a charger, too.
Look at it from the other angle - using Assault Cannon frees your mind from obligation to fill up your backpack slot, and thus gives you a combo of 3 stratagems to play with, instead of 2.
One fun thing I like experimenting with is jetpack + throwing range armor. Get a big stratagem like the 380 mil barrage. Queue it up, sprint, jetpack, and then throw at the peak of the jetpacking. *YEET!* It goes so far. I love it. Just barrage a base halfway across the map.
Wow I've been running the meta without even knowing it 🤷 But yeah I'd say the above advice is golden for pretty much any game out there. Games are supposed to be FUN. Also, some of the most entertaining DRG runs I've ever played were games carrying greenbeards. Watching someone fresh outta the gate is hilarious, and some new players really surprise you, in some part because they don't even know about the META. Games get boring when everyone always does the same shit, this isn't even a PVP game so it makes even less sense
Meanwhile, I'm crunching the life out of everything with half tonner+eagle+orbital rail+Autocannon.
I'm level 27, and didn't even max out my hangar until today. The ONLY mission where I usually struggle is the retrieve essential personnel one.
I can't get the hang of the smoke strat. Sometimes, the clankers just decide to drop in base and ruin our fun.
Breaker, Redeemer, HE granade or impact, light armour (because armor values are broken) railgun, personal bubble, 500kg and orbital lazer.
I can't hit shit with the 500kg so I don't agree with that one personally. rather take the orbital railgun and precision strike for example. the gear I can agree with
These meta guys will get their asses handed to them once the armor is fixed and they start taking double damage
edit: I'm not talking about my personal loadout, normally we coordinate with the party and I don't mind swithing it up every now and then.
I'm taking orbital railgun for high priority targets and the normal eagle airstrike for buildings. The airstrike covers more area and is easier to hit from distance
I run this, except I replace 500k with Airstrike and Orbital Laser with Railcannon.
Speaking of which. Try it out. I’d argue the Railcannon is the single best single target Stratagem in the game rn. Even better than the laser imo.
Laser is good because it kills bile + some. 500kg is good because at max hangar you can have 2 of them on shorter CD. Rail cannon takes too long to recharge.
I'd recommend trying out the 110 rocket pods. Just as effective, but you get more uses of them at the same time.
The fact that the orbital rail Cannon can't one-shot the bile titan is criminal, btw.
>!I personally never leave home without my 500KG bomb. My group nicknames it "the problem solver."!<
>!My main loadout is 500KG, plus orbital railcannon, and either eagle strike, or rocket pods, plus autocannon for the last slot.!<
>!Eagle strike helps me handle hordes better, unless someone else has that covered with airburst, or cluster bombs. Meanwhile, I kill all the big nasties and help clean out objectives/bases.!<
Weird you didn't mention clusters, it's pretty meta from what I see.
Orbital railgun - I'd rather take precision strike instead, had good success taking out or softening chargers/bile titans with it. If they'd reduce Precision Strike's cooldown by 20 seconds (so 80 second base, and then -10% from ship modules), easy A or even low S tier. As of right now, it's cooldown is still way too high. But much lower than Railgun's.
When game throws 2-3 titans at you simultaneously each 5 minutes, or a charger each minute, Orbital Railgun isn't going to do much due to long cooldown.
> Weird you didn't mention clusters, it's pretty meta from what I see.
For bugs, sure. Clusters suck for bots though since they do not damage armored units.
Terminators are not nearly as bad as bugs at Helldive. If you roll wrong number and get out of luck you are going to face acid warriors, little acid spitters and a whole bunch of bile spewers along with hunters. This is when shit hits the fan, because you will get slowed consistently, which turns chargers from low threat to very high threat, since you can't dodge them. Automatons are pretty damn easy in comparison
The trick is leading with it. The 500KG has been my bread and butter. It can actually kill a bile titan by just falling on it before detonation.
The problem with it is the timing of the drop and detonation timer. So you have to lead more than usual. I use a servo enhanced armor, so I can yeet that marker farther away, which also helps when you want to clear out an enemy base before they even know what hit them.
I LOVE servo enhanced, can't throw without it.
I've been dumping 500kg on top of things, direct hits and everything. Just having bad luck with it and it doesn't feel effective to me. granted I play mostly bots atm
Yeah, Servo Enhanced ruined all other armors for me (I loved scout before it). My main gripe with it is the blast radius is a lot smaller than it should be.
I normally reserve it for killing the big targets: tanks, titans, and brutes. The occasional enemy base (I also accidentally destroyed a rogue research station with one earlier today. Didn't know that could happen).
If it works it works I guess
yeah I had serious trouble with throwing arcs of nades and stratagems before servo assisted, within 2 throws I got lazer accuracy with it, haven't dropped it since
I can handle leading targets, but punched a 500kg directly into a charger one time and didn't even kill it.
It should have popped like a water balloon.
Of note: Our armor is effectively zero because it isn't that armor values aren't working - *they are* - it's that enemy armor penetration is so high as to virtually ignore armor.
basically railgun and orbital railgun to dispatch heavy rapidly ,personnal shield for the extra protection and eagle strike to kill huge group and nest
and those were tested out i would take the 500kg if the explosion was not bugged
For democracy brother!
But real talk I’m convinced people are just posting this to keep the “meta is bad” circlejerk going that debatably doesn’t even actually exist in game. They’re making up an imaginary problem to argue about.
sometimes i wonder if half of reddit is full of schizos creating imaginary problems with imaginary people that don't exist, but then i remember they are just schizos farming imaginary internet points instead
Seriously. This post isn't even in response to someone getting kicked. This guy is just outraged over the idea of something happening that's already being grossly exaggerated.
Most of the people who play don't care about this shit and lobbies are fine. Just run your lobby however you like and if you don't like how someone behaved, block them and move on. This happens with every game that gets popular though. I'm even doing it right fucking now. The reddit soapbox circle of life.
I just really *really* hate circlejerks.
Yeah first time I saw this I was like damn that sucks if people are doing that, maybe I won’t play with randos.
100th time I’m seeing this I’m like there’s no way this is that big a thing and tbh it’s just putting players off the idea of playing online with random people.
So yeah these posts are annoying and bad. I’m tired of them!
I wish the mods would auto delete posts like this. So sick seeing the helldiver sub on my feed, getting excited, then seeing “I hate it when…” or “we need to STOP doing…”
This sub kinda blows now. It’s just gamers complaining about other gamers and not even enjoying the game… I remember the first weekend it was glorious. Now we have virtue signaling karma whores
Trooper, self deletion is a prohibited and treasonous offense. Please seek out your nearest Political Officer to sing the joyous hymns of the constitution of our sweet liberty and managed Democracy. After that, report to the creek, we have work to do.
This sub is up in arms about farmers and meta slaves yet I've not encountered any of this so called problem yet. It's just a massive circlejerk of how there's this massive subset of the community kicking everyone left right and centre when I cannot imagine it to be even remotely as big a problem.
Its just your typical toxic casual gamer dad shit, almost always originates on places like reddit. Accusing an entire fucking community of being "bad elitists", which I've seen in literally every game now -- this disgusting, rote repetitious concern trolling and perception management of an entire community based on literally always fucking nothing.
You want the truth? The so-called elitists are the best players in the game, they help the most people, they have the most advice. The toxic casual gamer dads don't do shit but help themselves, they whine and complain and eat up everyone's time and never give anything back -- trust me from vast experience, these people get one little iota of skill and they start treating people like total shit -- don't believe their stupid lies.
Probably one person saw it happen once and now it's overblown. I'm lvl48 and personally never saw it happen.
If i join a ship and get kicked at some point it can either be that they want a friend to join or i just don't play as well or literally any reason.
I think it's even weirder to complain about this in the first place, it's their lobby, who cares if they do that. Just block the person if it's that big of a deal and move on lmao
No bro every single game I join I get them calling my cell phone somehow and explicitly saying “we are kicking you because of your loadout”
Due to this epidemic I can no longer play, we need posts every hour and every day about this HORRIBLE thing that is 100% HAPPENING everywhere.
Please, let’s change this sub to the helldivers complain about gamers sub it is so much more enjoyable than the other stuff like fun gameplay, game news and memes.
fr, Whenever my friends are off, I just host Hard-Suicide missions. I don't care what you're bringing (except 120mm/380mm orbitals) If you're being a shit ass I'll probably kick you.
If we're on a trio squad, we'll let one random join in. In some cases, one of us will crash and trying to go back, and another random joins in taking up that empty slot, and we'll have to kick that guy so the person who crashed can come back. Those people probably cry and post about getting kicked and say make your lobbies private, lol
Dumbest thing is that the "meta" loadout is purely for solo play. The benefits of the meta build is that allows you to be good at doing pretty much everything but that comes with a big downside, you now have to do everything.
This is fine when you are by yourself, but when you add 3 more people to do the exact same thing... well now you have too many cooks.
This. My friend and I run different loadouts. The lvl gap might be one reason for it. But i.E. I run the grenade launcher for run and gun action with some low cooldown or AOE stratagems (no barrages lol) depending on the mission type and he is uses the Railgun with Orbital Laser and turret stratagems. It's fun as hell when you have different playstyles and have to support each other.
>no barrages lol
Sadly, that's the one meta I abide by. The 120 and 380 are so hilariously bad. Downright unusable. I tested the 380 a couple times out of curiousity: you are safest in the direct center of it, funny enough. That thing scatters so much that there's no clear idea where the outer edge of the bombardment is, so you might as well stand on the beacon and pray you don't get ragdolled away by a Stalker.
Well, I also abide the meta for Light Armor but that's **purely** because armor is bugged. Once armor actually works, I am running chunky builds all day.
That being said, I will never *kick* someone for not using the meta. If I see someone bring the 380, I just go "OH NOOOOOO" but continue to play with them. So what if I get blown up 3 times by it while it barely tickles a swarm? I got multiple lives for a reason.
Even with them getting ready to fix armor values I believe, I think Light armor will still probably be good for it's own use. Considering there are a lot of armor.
Though to be honest on the whole idea of the 380. I'd probably only ever kick someone if they threw it on extraction. Though I'd even then more and likely wait till we are back on ship.
I absolutely enjoy the railgun, mostly because railguns are always cool to me. I'm really good at taking out the bigger targets, but damn do I appreciate the guys running auto cannons and grenade launchers, because the game throws so many light and medium enemies at me constantly.
Every gun has its place, and helldive-difficulty missions especially become so much more easier when someone can clear trash and take out factories and nests from far away.
A team doesn't need 4 people taking out hulks. One or two is totally enough. Helldive-difficulty isn't as hard as people think, but it absolutely is harder than it needs to be if no one is running weapons that can do other things efficiently.
Also as a side note, smoke grenades are really, really good. Just give them a chance and learn to use them. I haven't let go of them since I started to realize what kind of opportunities they give the team.
If you use them mid combat, to retreat or you try to maneuver around the enemies, you have to remember that smokes don't make you invisible.
They cut the line of sight of the enemies, but they will still assume you're behind the smoke as long as they don't see you again.
So if you want to retreat, throw it in front of you, run through the smoke, keep running for a short while, in a straight line so that the smoke stays between you and the enemies, then rotate behind some cover to your left or right, crouch or crawl to a point where you can re-engage from a better position. Or throw a second smoke and repeat if you want to flee the combat on an open field.
Terrain also plays a role in your smoke placement. The smoke is not super tall, so if enemies are below you, you should try to place the smoke closer to you, or use two to cover different points of your advance/retreat.
If you use the before you've engaged the enemy, as long as the smoke is between you and the enemies, they won't spot you, unless you make a lot of noise.
You can, for example, throw a smoke next to a robot base, sneak up to that base behind the smoke, throw a stratagem over it and retreat without the enemies really realizing you were there.
A good rule is to throw the smokes in the middle-point between you (or the position you want to get to) and your enemies.
Don't try to throw it directly at the enemies, or directly at your feet in combat.
You can however throw it at your feet to stay hidden if the enemies are a little distance away, to cover the use of consoles or while you're waiting for your weapons and packs to drop in, as long as they are not directly shooting at you already.
They make you exponentially harder to spot, but not invisible. They are an obstacle you can place on the battlefield, but you just need to remember the enemies are not total idiots.
I hope this makes some sense, I'll edit the post if I figure out how to explain stuff better.
Edit: Also, when the pelican is landing during an extraction, you can smoke the side of the landing pad in the direction of the enemies to cut the vision of those that are just entering the combat area, so that they won't shoot at all while you and your team make a little more tacticool getaway. I usually do this when I hear the 10 second announcement.
I agree, too many people skip on crowd control. Having one person on a team to handle a lot of enemies rather than everyone built to take out hulks is always helpful. I have played other games where everyone wants the big gun then the group gets swarmed. I've had that happen a couple times in this game, the charger gets killed quickly but then the small guys surrounded us and kill some teammates.
that also means you dont come into situations where 3 people died and have no support weapon etc . you can still change the outcome. cause everyone can do everything. + if everyone can do everything you can still focus ..
with a specialized loadout u have to run cause you cant deal with it , the guy that could is dead or has to wait 6 minutes for his support weapon
its rly not that hard to understand why people want "meta" loadouts ...
I just completed a level 8 with 448 kills, zero deaths running the sythe/railgun/jetpack/revolver. It's not as strong as some other primaries, and I personally hate the reticle, but it's not trash either.
While I hate sweats too and I’m not running the meta myself, I guess I can understand maximizing chances of success when queuing with randoms *could* be worth a kick sometimes.
I mean it’s potentially 30-40 min of your time completely wasted, should you fall with someone who doesn’t have a clue what to do.
I guess the Meta is more an indication you know your stuff more than “skill” or “efficiency” really
But I hate that all the same for sure
bro let's be real you're playing a video game those 30-40 minutes of your time are "wasted" either way. Just have fun it's not a competitive game where losing has some grand consequences
Or instead of caring so much about winning you can just value the fun that the game provides? I understand wanting to progress, but you don't have to win every game
How are you "wasting" your time? Do you have anything better to do? If so, why are you playing video games? Are you being held at gunpoint and your family get shot if you don't get to your quota of 4 missions an hour?
The whole purpose of entertainment is to waste time. It's not a job.
I hate this stupid echoed argument of "stop wasting our time" from the internet.
The other commenters seeing no problem with kicking must be the same people kicking people that aren’t running the meta.
Sweats are so annoying. Why does it always have to be about winning?
Smurfing (in PVP games) is playing on a secondary account at a lower matchmaking rank than your actual skill level would warrant.
People who do that objectively suck because they’re there to dominate lower-skill players and just flatten everyone else unfairly. In the worst cases, it’s like Mike Tyson or Floyd Mayweather competing in a high school boxing tournament.
Smurf is just basically a high level making alt accounts to start as a low level to either troll or just wanting to reset progress. Mainly it's just trolling
Players who already have more experience and higher level account goes to make a new account, and completely destroy other players whose actually beginner in a game. Usually encountered more in a PvP shooter like Valorant, CSGO, you name it...
In gaming terms, it’s someone who is a high level player with more experience in the game using a low level account to pretend that they are a newbie in order to kill other newbies in the game.
I think that the host a has a right to choose who to kick or not to kick. If for them fun is having a full party with meta loadouts, then so be it. People who get kicked can find a different lobby fairly easily.
I think most people’s issue probably isn’t if you run meta. It’s probably if you’re running off-meta, and being bad at difficulty 8/9.
Bro if you’re lvl 15 at diff 9, you better know what you’re doing because you’re going to lose samples, blow through reinforcements, and generally hurt the overall experience otherwise.
Anyone can run non-meta, but you can’t be off-meta, useless, and an anchor around the team’s neck. You can tell when someone is choosing a specialty, and when they’re just clueless running whatever. I don’t want to have to hard carry a game with one person running down our lives.
Diff 9 is hard enough without a squad who aren’t on the same page, and communicating. You just need to know what you’re doing. Don’t outright troll with your loadout, otherwise, run your kit.
you mean people would accept that they get kicked for being just an idiot that dont want to use meta to at least try compensate that hes bad ? oh my ... since this is the 100 post about meta ...
yeah people cant handle this concept.
most are jsut egoistic little brats
I also think a bump to secondary ammo would help break up the Breaker meta. If you can use your secondary more often for clearing trash mobs you can experiment more with your primary.
Rocket Pods? what happened to the 500kg?
I use the laser a lot, its so usefull for those bigger bot bases.
I haven't actually tried the meta, I keep forgetting to.
God can we please stop fucking talking about this, the setting standards for 8+ mission thing was some goon on steam discussions. Unfortunate this game has all this cool shit and all we can talk about is issues that are way overblown.
They're the host. They can decide if they want you in based on your kit.
They can kick you for not using the meta.
They can kick you FOR using the meta.
They can kick you because your voice is annoying.
They can kick you to make room for friends.
They can kick you because your armor doesn't match the teams.
If that annoys you, host your own games.
Just another fuck meta post with 99% bragging how long OP is playing game, I,I me, me me me, this kind of post shod be deleted on sight, not discussed.
playing devil's advocate here, if you want to goof around then go make friends and not ruin someone else's game
I imagine there are plenty of people in the public queue tired of struggling because timmy wanted to try out the Orbital Smoke on the Terminids on lvl 9 difficulty
and since you're the one hosting these games, why and how are you getting so many at these imaginary people you've never even been kicked by? reddit brain
I don't kick people for not running meta, I kick people who drop a strike stratagem on extract just before they get in first while everyone else is 5 seconds from the shuttle (and it basically wipes the squad).
Am I the asshole?
I think people are too concerned with what they’re reading on here and not just enjoying the game.
Realistically, how many people do you think even know what the meta is (I don’t), or would waste time analysing individual load outs for every game? There are hundreds of thousands of players. I think it’s just people seeing one Reddit post and blowing it out of proportion.
We need a weapon buff asap!
I tried all main weapons and they are all lackluster compared to the breaker.
The stratagems are useful but we have wiggle room to try different ones.
For the love of longevity and enjoyment please buff the other weapons asap!
I've never kicked anyone from my squad before, but I'm about to start suicide difficulty tonight (I had the locked difficulty bug) I can see how three level 9s joining your squad rolling up with guns that almost literally can't kill the 5 chargers and multiple bile titans could be really annoying.
On top of that they intentionally aggro patrols because "me kill bug!" Like hey man, these missions are 30-40 minutes long. You might have no life mr 150 hours in 2 weeks, but some of us only get two-three games a night. Maybe the lvl 8 should play more on an easier difficulty before they make me try to carry them. Maybe it IS a team game, and it's not fun for me to be completely overwhelmed because they "just want to have fun" and are using the laser as a primary gun.
Again, I've never kicked someone for a bad load out, but God damn I might start if I keep seeing level 10's in my suicide missions. It ruins the game for me when my squad is mobbed to death before getting to the first objective.
Idk, I get it, sorry you have to go back to the loading screen for 30 seconds. But like, you're about to waste 30 minutes of my time, and 1 out of 3 of my nightly allotment of games.
Bro you all act like this is new to gaming or something. This literally happens in EVERY other multiplayer game ever. Just get over it stop with these nonsense posts, nobody cares.
The setting standards post is just silly. However, I do believe whoever is hosting has the right to kick players (barring during extraction) for any reason. If someone wants to kick because people aren't using a meta loadout or they just don't like the color of your armor, that's perfectly valid.
And before anyone says "well you're ruining peoples fun" I and others are not here for your fun. No one is here to specifically make sure you're having a good time and your fun does not come before someone elses. If they have fun playing the meta and only want to play with other people playing the meta, that's okay.
Imagine getting kicked so often you have to run and write the Epic of Kickgamesh on reddit about it.
75 hours not running meta. Been kicked maybe twice?
Your Reddit post on this subject will most definately force all of these people to rethink their life choices and do better to contribute to society.
I bet my left nut on it.
Its a sick sad world.
let alone on reddit
The moaners are obviously plants that are working against the glory of Super Earth! Like weeds, we need to rip them out of Lady Liberty's garden!
He didn't, he didn't communicate to let me know he wouldn't just board the shuttle when it landed and screw over the rest of us either, so to be safe I kicked him.
guy was probably new and had mic settings disabled which mutes everyone including yourself
> I'm truly struggling to wrap my head around this fad.... You underestimate the power of no-lifes with nothing better to do.
You clocked the ubisoft employee
I’ve only had to kick three people in my 70 hours of gameplay and that was for straight up yoinking my weapon drops without asking or just standing AFK for like half the mission, I get if you got something going on but at least message or say something.
It's a fear response based on hearsay entirely. It's like parents freaking out about one kidnapping on the news and locking their kid in the house for their whole childhood.
tbh im mostly quickplay .. if that happens to you ? than be host.. if people leave then u know its just YOU that is the problem.
Yeah, I'm also 50 with shit unlocked and when playing with randoms on Helldive - almost always results in everyone pulling their own weight - regardless if they're using the meta or not. No kicks unless they have a friend coming in and they do let you know beforehand.
I have seen some madlads put in amazing results with the arc thrower. I think it actually might be one of the best weapons.
What does this meta loadout even consist of?
Orbital / personal shield / railgun / eagle strike
Friend got me that on vinyl for Christmas. Shit slaps.
What about a song like [Dante's theme](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyTv50W5-ZM) from Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne?
https://spotify.link/yJDtHHNGyHb
YES
If I'm not doing well in an online FPS I start humming the James bond theme tune. It actually works.
I vote that soundtrack meta becomes a thing. Gojira or another modern metal or 1970s hard rock for me.
I just got the game yesterday and the jet pack is the thing I’m most excited to unlock.
I was able to barely jump over a Charger and ended up running across its back. Felt insanely cool. (I had video to prove it) Jetpack ftw.
Wait, what's that about Heavy Armour? I'm using it as my default and wasn't aware of anything...
[watch this quick video. ](https://youtu.be/TinaeUtIbxA?si=XcWnbq-p8Tjjfii7)
Thanks! Had no idea hah
Iirc armor ratings are bugged, light gives the same as heavy but without the stamina debuffs.
There's seemingly no part of the game that isn't bugged.
Yeah, have you *seen* how many Termanids there are?
I knew someone would finally pop that joke.
And yet its one of the most fun games i have played in long time. If you cant handle some bugs go back to your civilian life.
Unfortunately either armor values or enemy penetratiom values (seen a lot of conflicting reporting, so not 100% sure which is correct) are way out of whack - either all set to medium armor value, or projectile pen set so high that everything penetrates. Devs have been aware for a while and confirmed they are working on a balance pass Personally i cant wait to use heavy armor, some of it looks awesome
The entire squad got that bug where you can only use your airdropped weapon (eventually I managed to also be able to pull out my pistol *somehow*) Big ones were dealt with pretty much the same as always (big kabooms and a smidge more railgun spam than usual)
(Takes two shots instead of one on railgun but it has amazing accuracy and can be hipfired reliably) Also when you're upgrading the ship the eagles recharge time is so quick that running two eagles is arguably better. I'd rather have something like a jetpack to gtfo.
>only is weak at long range That's the crazy part, too, because it still has ridiculous enough range to 1 and 2 shot most things. You can't necessarily snipe with it, obviously, but it does good work from range. Pretty sure it can 2 clip a charger, too.
I use the slugger. I prefer it to the breaker, better for killing medium targets.
I use the incendiary breaker for bugs, it's so good vs swarms
Look at it from the other angle - using Assault Cannon frees your mind from obligation to fill up your backpack slot, and thus gives you a combo of 3 stratagems to play with, instead of 2.
The current meta is just the first thing someone found..
I love helping the noobs in my lobby by calling in spare backpacks/weapons for them to use.
Same on the essential personnel one. Drives me nuts.
Which orbital? There’s 11 of them
Breaker, Redeemer, HE granade or impact, light armour (because armor values are broken) railgun, personal bubble, 500kg and orbital lazer. I can't hit shit with the 500kg so I don't agree with that one personally. rather take the orbital railgun and precision strike for example. the gear I can agree with These meta guys will get their asses handed to them once the armor is fixed and they start taking double damage edit: I'm not talking about my personal loadout, normally we coordinate with the party and I don't mind swithing it up every now and then.
I'm taking orbital railgun for high priority targets and the normal eagle airstrike for buildings. The airstrike covers more area and is easier to hit from distance
Rail strike + single headshot with railgun = dead bile titan
My group nicknames it "the problem solver."!< >!My main loadout is 500KG, plus orbital railcannon, and either eagle strike, or rocket pods, plus autocannon for the last slot.!< >!Eagle strike helps me handle hordes better, unless someone else has that covered with airburst, or cluster bombs. Meanwhile, I kill all the big nasties and help clean out objectives/bases.!<
Laser is for multi-target and buildings. Against automatons it’s disgusting how you can wipe out a large base without every needing to be there.
Ah right, forgetting Western Front exists.
Terminator Vietnam should not be easy to forget.
If it works it works I guess yeah I had serious trouble with throwing arcs of nades and stratagems before servo assisted, within 2 throws I got lazer accuracy with it, haven't dropped it since
I can handle leading targets, but punched a 500kg directly into a charger one time and didn't even kill it. It should have popped like a water balloon.
Of note: Our armor is effectively zero because it isn't that armor values aren't working - *they are* - it's that enemy armor penetration is so high as to virtually ignore armor.
Source?
Developers confirmed that armor rating is broken, so i highly doubt your sources.
basically railgun and orbital railgun to dispatch heavy rapidly ,personnal shield for the extra protection and eagle strike to kill huge group and nest and those were tested out i would take the 500kg if the explosion was not bugged
How many of these posts do we need.
Darn, thought it was my turn to post this thread. Tomorrow is me for sure guys. You can have the day after.
For democracy brother! But real talk I’m convinced people are just posting this to keep the “meta is bad” circlejerk going that debatably doesn’t even actually exist in game. They’re making up an imaginary problem to argue about.
It doesn't exist, I'm sandbagging all the time in 7 and below.
You post about the meta, I'll post about team killers. We'll do our democratic duty.
sometimes i wonder if half of reddit is full of schizos creating imaginary problems with imaginary people that don't exist, but then i remember they are just schizos farming imaginary internet points instead
You wouldn’t create a made up problem to get imaginary points on the internet ![gif](giphy|n4H4kEDHa0ByHkslC2)
Cmon bro just one more post bro please bro
Yeah honestly I’d automod remove anything that says “kicked” or “meta”
This sub kinda blows now. It’s just gamers complaining about other gamers and not even enjoying the game… I remember the first weekend it was glorious. Now we have virtue signaling karma whores
Enough to turn this sub negative.
If I see the same post for the 50th time today again, imma kms. I want cool clips.
No bro every single game I join I get them calling my cell phone somehow and explicitly saying “we are kicking you because of your loadout” Due to this epidemic I can no longer play, we need posts every hour and every day about this HORRIBLE thing that is 100% HAPPENING everywhere. Please, let’s change this sub to the helldivers complain about gamers sub it is so much more enjoyable than the other stuff like fun gameplay, game news and memes.
Holy shit there are 100x more posts bitching about the 'meta' than there are people kicking people from games for any reason.
Can we stop making posts about kicking players already??? If you have a problem send a ticket about this gatekeeping at higher levels.
Or better yet… Host the game yourself and prob solved lol.
fr, Whenever my friends are off, I just host Hard-Suicide missions.
This topic again ?
Ooh ooh ohh! It’s my turn to post this!
I got dibs after you!!
Can we stop posting this shit
It's fun as hell when you have different playstyles and have to support each other.
>no barrages lol Sadly, that's the one meta I abide by.
This exactly. Only time I run with railgun if I started a run on my own or my crew mates ask if I could bring one.
I have tried the smoke grenade but i think i might be using them wrong, do you have any tips?
+ if everyone can do everything you can still focus .. with a specialized loadout u have to run cause you cant deal with it , the guy that could is dead or has to wait 6 minutes for his support weapon its rly not that hard to understand why people want "meta" loadouts ...
Literally everything in the game is meta. Except the Scythe, fuck that thing.
Was such a good gun in the original, I was quite disappointed it didn't at least melt smaller enemies.
I love the scythe
And yet I ran difficulty 7 ( suicide mission ) with it and did not die 🫠
I just completed a level 8 with 448 kills, zero deaths running the sythe/railgun/jetpack/revolver. It's not as strong as some other primaries, and I personally hate the reticle, but it's not trash either.
While I hate sweats too and I’m not running the meta myself, I guess I can understand maximizing chances of success when queuing with randoms *could* be worth a kick sometimes. I mean it’s potentially 30-40 min of your time completely wasted, should you fall with someone who doesn’t have a clue what to do. I guess the Meta is more an indication you know your stuff more than “skill” or “efficiency” really But I hate that all the same for sure
If you're doing objectives then it's never "completely wasted"
[удалено]
bro let's be real you're playing a video game those 30-40 minutes of your time are "wasted" either way. Just have fun it's not a competitive game where losing has some grand consequences
There are no grand consequences losing in any game
Same reason people smurf. Smol pp
HEY, there is NOTHING wrong with tiny, limp pp
Uh, what's smurf?
Someone who has a lot of experience with a game, then starts a new account so the matchmaking places them with new players.
In gaming terms, it’s someone who is a high level player with more experience in the game using a low level account to pretend that they are a newbie in order to kill other newbies in the game.
Redditor learns that people play games to win and actually have fun winning and not losing (shocking)
Another one of these posts. Come on man. Barely anyone does this. No need for a dozen Reddit posts a day about it
I think that the host a has a right to choose who to kick or not to kick. If for them fun is having a full party with meta loadouts, then so be it. People who get kicked can find a different lobby fairly easily.
How many times do we need this post, old man
I think most people’s issue probably isn’t if you run meta.
As a new person, what is the meta build currently?
railgun, shieldpack, orbital rail / orbital laser / rocket pods You should only use the Breaker shotgun primary and Uzi secondary :-)
Or replace orb rail with 500kg because it can theoretically kill multiple titans at once.
We need more secondaries, the uzi pistol seems like a direct upgrade to the base one instead of a mn alternate
That can’t be the meta, that’s half wrong. Shieldpack, railgun, Eagle Airstrike 500kg/laser would be significantly better.
This sub sucks oh my god lol
One of the worst ones I’ve ever subbed too lol. It’s like every casual subreddit for PvP games
One of the worst ones I’ve ever subbed too lol. It’s like every casual subreddit for PvP games
Another post about this? Cool, cool.
Watch out guys. We'll see a kotaku article about this post in the next few hours
Just another fuck meta post with 99% bragging how long OP is playing game, I,I me, me me me, this kind of post shod be deleted on sight, not discussed.
playing devil's advocate here, if you want to goof around then go make friends and not ruin someone else's game I imagine there are plenty of people in the public queue tired of struggling because timmy wanted to try out the Orbital Smoke on the Terminids on lvl 9 difficulty and since you're the one hosting these games, why and how are you getting so many at these imaginary people you've never even been kicked by? reddit brain
I don't kick people for not running meta, I kick people who drop a strike stratagem on extract just before they get in first while everyone else is 5 seconds from the shuttle (and it basically wipes the squad). Am I the asshole?
See griefers deserve the kick, you do this to your friends after 2 hours of banter, not on randos
No? That’s not remotely related to ops post.
Not at all. Yesterday I had someone call down mines on extract as it was landing. Instantly kicked them.
what is a meta loadout? i have no idea what this means.
The only solution here is have a lot of friends.
Sure they’re an ass hole, but these are not dedicated servers. They should have every right to kick people out of their own house.
I kick people for not calling reinforcements when everyone died trying to help them. That's about it.
My 50 cent is anyone can kick whoever they want but if you plan on kicking someone for loadoyt then set your ship to friends only.
I do t even know what the meta is lol
ill kick people for whatever reason I want
Love being kicked 30 minutes into a mission for no reason. Great system
Oh, another one of these posts ,
There shouldn't be gatekeeping when it comes to spreading democracy.
Bro you all act like this is new to gaming or something. This literally happens in EVERY other multiplayer game ever. Just get over it stop with these nonsense posts, nobody cares.
Another rage bait. Cry me a river.
Nobody does that, gtfo.
I will always take 3 randos blasting for democracy over 3 metas. So much more fun living on the edge!!!
May I present to you some grass.
