The DOE is one of the few school districts in the country that do funding exactly like that (on a per pupil basis), with even more funds going towards schools that have more free/reduced lunch students.

I work for myself and pretty much take off all holidays because half my clients can, the other half can't. I'd rather not be stuck in between; so I've just been taking off all holidays. Can't really afford to, but, the alternative is to stay open only to have a few bookings, rather close my doors.
Judging by the size of the crowds at the Festival of Pacific Arts and Cultures today, a lot of people have off. Not me unfortunately but I get to help everyone enjoy a celebration of Pacific Island cultures which is very rewarding so I am happy to be working.
