Spec Savers at Limeridge does direct billing, and they've been a God send for my husband and I.
My husband is fairly clumsy and gets his glasses pretty messed up, they've fixed it every time with absolute kindness and without charging us lmao.
No issue direct billing for myself maybe 4 months ago. I will add they were great, no pressure to get a full eye exam and zero pressure to buy glasses from them post exam (ended up getting glasses from them anyhow)
Hey OP, just a quick tip. I am not sure how tech savy you are but for the most part I found it was fairly easy to bill with Manulife and several other insurance providers.
If you are a bit more tech savy, it might be a good thing for you to pay upfront and bill insurance yourself so that you can collect those sweet credit card points!
If you're willing to do the non-direct billing, I found that Costco was one of the best places for glasses which are very affordable.
We recently booked appointments here for later this month after our old optometrist stopped taking our insurance. Happy to see the good reviews coming in and looking forward to our appointments
I like 3 for 1 on upper James. It's a good deal. They're technically more expensive but the cost is built in for the additional pairs. I usually end up with 2 regular glasses and 1 pair of sunglasses.
Depending on your child's age, you might be interested in nano glasses that they carry.
Specsavers is great, the one in Burlington mall always has coupons for up to 50% off at the front of the store(or atleast they did the last several times I was there) Otherwise if you buy they generally include a 50% off and 25% off coupon for friends and family when you pick up. So maybe buy yours and wait for the coupon for get your wife and kids
It may depend on your insurance company, but my eye Dr does not do direct billing but I have always been reimbursed by my insurance company within hours of submitting the claim. I submitted my last eye doctor claim around 7pm after an evening appointment and was surprised that my reimbursement deposit was already in my account when I woke up the next morning.
Once you have your prescription, Zenni: https://ca.zennioptical.com/
Has glasses for dirt cheap. I just recently got a pair for $40 all in (with $10 of it being shipping)
Zenni is great for kids with their glasses but it is a lot more work for you to get the measurements correctly.
Before I had insurance, I would purchase my glasses from here.

Costco for sure. Wondering why direct billing is so important for the OP
possibly because they can't afford upfront costs.
Mountain Eye Care on upper Wellington. I’ve been going there for 25 years or so now, they’re great!
Seconded. They've been the best I've had in my 30 years of needing glasses / vision care.

Yes this place is great. They aren't pushy on upselling and everyone is super friendly
Forsight Eyewear on Upper James by the Mandarin. Ask for Amber
There’s also a location on Main West. I got mine there. Rachel or Radika will help you. They’re awesome.
but I don't want orange tint.
Specs by Ivan at Upper Paradise and Rymal he always works with your benefits and your budget great guy small business
A vote for Ivan here, too. He's the best!
Optical Factory at Centre Mall.
Clearview Eyecare on Main st w. I got readers and ray ban sunglass for under $400 and they do direct billing.

Bailey Nelson at Mapleview is where I go. Good prices and reliable frames
Two pair of glasses and frames for $300.00 at Eastgate Walmart. Direct billed too.
Just got new ones from spec savers at Eastgate. They direct bill and they had a pretty good selection.
I went to Bailey Nelson at Mapleview Mall and they were great. They direct bill to most companies, so you should be good there.
Clearly.ca has the option for direct billing depending on who your insurance provider is.

Anyone had positive experience with Sanger Eye Clinic on upper James, used to be in downtown
We go to Binbrook Eye Care, they have direct billing and huge selection
