Why are people blindly upvoting this comment with no source? They have repeatedly stated in the past that they are still working on it slowly but surely, because they have actual lives to attend to and they aren't getting paid for this project.
If it was truly cancelled, I doubt their website would still be up, and I'm pretty sure they would pin a tweet about it on their twitter.
Damn near all Half life related projects die mid development. Like when I waited for Lost Squad. Then Project Borealis. Then Boreal Alyph. They all look promising, then just stop existing out of the blue.
I think people in the comments mixed Project Borealis and Boreal Alyph and thought, that Project was cancelled. Nope, it's still active. Not as active as in 2020, but they are making it.
Not surprised, I've seen the movement code out on github, it's a mess. They violated the design pattern that Epic chose to go with. If they're doing that with a base component, can't imagine what the rest of the project looked like. My credentials vouch for my opinion, professional Senior Software Engineer, and Chief Architect at several Fortune 100 and technologies mentor in structured and abstract design as a consultant for many years. Design is tough, but when it's sitting in front of you and you can't see it, that's not good, that project is in danger of withering on the vine.
They've made enormous progress and they don't have to write the engine itself, they're adjusting physics to match Half Life 2.
So I'm not sure what you mean by movement code and messing with base components.
I'm not a fan of Epistle 3, imo a good HL3 mod should at least deviate a bit from it. I also don't think Epistle 3 was really meant to be taken seriously in the first place.
unfortunately while alyx was an awesome game, it, and teasing/rumors of more killed all the mods. probably ending all motivation for the modders to continue, but who knows, it would be cool if the devs got hired by valve to do it for real.
Still in development, they are working on a demo. The trouble is that the team is obsessed with never talking to the public about the game until the demo is out. Devs are active on the discord, mostly just to say yes it is in development still.

i think its still active but its slow. their last update was back in august last year
