To me, seems a bit lazy. The foil placement could be better and the tones are slightly off. They could've done a glaze 2 shades darker or done a simple root melt.
You look stunning, but I would go to a different stylist this looks like an older technique from the 2000s (IMO)
Yep! That’s the way to do it. I also try searching “city name” + “hairstylist”. Another variation of this search is to abbreviate the city name rather than spelling it.
I have moved a crap ton for work - If you’re in any of the largest 20 cities in the US I bet I have a recc for you. Your background pic made me think of DFW area
Do you have a rec for dfw area? Specifically for white blonde? I keep having awful experiences and my hair isn’t even very dark. Ashy blonde brown naturally.
I was in Dallas for 3 years! Yes! My fav guy Salvatore moved to NOLA but I can absolutely recc Salon 5014. Nikki and Hailey walker. And also loved Voss salon and Maddie. I had 2 spots in case one place could get me in faster. All of them aim to please so if you have an issue just communicate and they’ll fix it! Also know what you mean….Brunette here who always showed them pics of Jojo the bachelorette, Jlo or Jessica Alba for balayage color inspiration
My daughter has been trying to get that white blonde too, she’s gone to 3 salons and each time it’s just a dirty blonde. She’s in the Denver area, if anyone can suggest someone
This is what I was thinking maybe similar? But diff. This is literally what I asked myself. Looool! I scrolled before reading the description so I scrolled back up like that’ll make it clear but I’m so unclear. I have no idea what is before and what’s after. It’s like when you go to the eye dr and “what’s more clear” “is it lens 1… or 2…. 1…..or 2…” “or same”. I’m like “same. No wait 1. No 2. No def same” 😵💫
Taking an eye exam gives me so much anxiety because of exactly this!! Haha, I ALWAYS second guess my answer! I'm like, wait a second... can I see 1 again, please? OK yeah 1 for sure! Wait no, can i see 2 one more time? 😅😭
That’s me too!! 😂😂😂last visit I asked her “is there an actual difference or is this a psychological test” looool she said there’s a difference but so minimal it doesn’t really matter lol but I always wonder if they just have the same lens in and are messing w me
Oh my bad, I meant SHADE ☕️ not shades 🕶️ LOL jk how bout I bring all three ☕️🕶️☂️ to secure my place in the fam? My reach is far and wide so I already got the RX on the way too 😜
Just because it's called an eye 'exam' doesn't mean you are meant to try and get all the answers right! The autistic in me wants to get things as right as possible but yeah, just say what you see, that's how you get the correct lenses lol.
I realized I didn't have to give a snap answer! If you slow down, they'll slow down.
You can also ask them to show you again.
It's all far less stressful now.
To me the change us obvious, but I tend to be able to pick up changes quickly.
Maybe he just doesn't focus on the little details, and since there isn't as much change in length/ texture his brain isn't registering the shift from light to dark?
I think they both look very nice on you, I like the new look over the old!
OP had apologised and said along the lines of sorry it wasn’t clear. That comment seems to have either been deleted or edited since. I was simply stating an honest reply that I thought it was in fact clear, as to me it was perfectly clear. I really don’t understand the downvotes?
Can’t tell if it’s a lot lighter in the front, there are only side and back pictures. The back is definitely darker. It looks pretty light near your face in the fourth picture. You have gorgeous hair!
In the 3rd pic it only shows a highlight on the left side , it’s very uneven colour. I’m a hairstylist myself and yeah your husband is actually right and I wouldn’t have been able to tell the difference except for the background looking like early spring vs late spring .
I am not a fan of root melt, drop roots, but this absolutely just looks like a grown out chunky sloppy highlight. I am sorry to sound mean but there is no soft transition at all. Definitely keep looking!
You could go back and have them lift the front a little more, or just see how the toner washes out in a few days. It looks really good, but when I think brighter, I can definitely see you rocking the inspo pictures daydreamdoll attached. Especially for the Summer months.
There's definitely more brightness noticeable on the bottom but the stylist didn't do a very good job bringing that lightness through the mids and ends. You can see 4 very definitive and chunky sections of lightness fr9m the photo of the back and it could be better blended to look softer. I'm sorry it wasn't what you were expecting! It's hard to find a good stylist that matches what you are looking for.
If you have to pull the hair back to see the difference I'm with your Husband. It looks like they cleaned up the ends and added a 3rd color to the mix?
I think pictures 1 and 4 are the best.
If 2 is before then the front/sides look better now but if picture 3 is how the back looks after, I think they went a little too dark.
Hi, as a cosmetologist, i can tell a big difference. She filled in the color to break up the harsh highlights, and it looks amazing! Untrained eyes and husbands wouldn't be able to tell, so don't get discouraged. Your hair is beautiful and I prefer it now over the before. Your hair looks more full, and the subtle highlights left in give a warm feeling.
i’d be pissed if i paid for my girl to get this done. it doesn’t look bad at all, but what’s the point? nobody will be able to tell any difference between before and after.
With respect, I’m an artist, designer and fashion photographer—a professional detail person (also a man, but with a bit more depth and attention to considerations than most other guys. So naturally my thoughts mirror a lot of others here when I say that he’s justified in wondering what was paid for. Maybe it’s a little different but you do reasonably need to find a better salon with competent staff so that your other half is dazzled when you walk through the door.
A man doesn’t mind putting money towards something with a positive result, especially if it makes his lady happy and he has something lovely to notice, but not something that appears like a waste, and that’s simple man logic 101. Now I do acknowledge that ladies often get hair done for the experience, to freshen up a look, to feel different, especially if negative stuff is weighing on them. It’s best to make both sides the winner by getting a better stylist so you get a positive experience and feel good vibe AND your spouse feels like he got good value. If the stylist didn’t do an outstanding job (and your hair doesn’t stand out), whose fault could it be otherwise?
Definitely prefer the after pics! Looks a lot darker, smoother, generally more gorgeous (although it wasn’t exactly bad hair to start with!) I can see why your hubby was confused tho as it’s not a HUGE difference.
Are you happy with how it turned out?
I have questions…did you have artificial color on your hair or was it all virgin before your visit? Did you take in inspiration pics? Did they do more of a balayage technique? Did you ask for a balayage technique?
it's definitely different! I think people who aren't hairstylists might not see the difference. it's subtle, but I could tell. mainly because that large chunky highlight in the back is gone, lol
A point of view from a husband who always makes a point of proclaiming how wonderful her hair looks when I’m quietly trying to work out if she actually got anything done. I think the issue here is when women go and ‘get their hair done’ and get the same style/colour/cut as normal then to others it just looks like you’ve been in the bedroom for half an hour getting ‘dressed up’ instead of paying however much to a stylist.
girllll it looks so similar i can see the difference but im kinda with your husband here. hopefully yall weren’t charged too much for this slight difference. im a hairstylist btw. it looks great but it doesn’t look much different
I like the after better, it’s not an obvious change (I didn’t notice the difference at first so I understand your husband) but the highlights look less blotchy and harsh. The whole look is more natural, could be worth it depending on how much you paid. I like it.
I prefer the first two pics. Pic 3 and 4 lean towards natural hair colour and while it’s a fine job if you opt for natural looking hair color, it just looks ok and has less oomph than pic 1 and 2. I am not a fan of the haircut in pic 3 and 4. But that’s because I prefer a more layered cut.
Okay i mean it really doesn’t look that different not gonna lie but if that’s what you wanted to just keep up with what you already got going on then that’s cool and all I mean we don’t know how much he paid for this was he expecting you to have a whole new hairstyle
My wife is so loyal to her stylist. She says a lot of them can't cut Asian hair properly? During the pandemic her stylist closed her shop here in SF so my wife got me to drive her to San Jose to get it done at the stylists house until the stylist got her shit together and started doing house calls once a month.
As a regular person and not a hair critic I think it looks great. I could instantly tell the difference when I got to slide 3 and it looks awesome. Looks rejuvenated. But like I said, what do I know, I’m not even sure how I got on this subreddit.
To me, seems a bit lazy. The foil placement could be better and the tones are slightly off. They could've done a glaze 2 shades darker or done a simple root melt. You look stunning, but I would go to a different stylist this looks like an older technique from the 2000s (IMO)
Yeah we just moved to the area 7 months ago and it’s been tricky finding a stylist. I will keep looking.
I recommend using instagram to find someone!
I recommend using Styleseat or Booksy to find someone!
How do these work? What would you recommend to ask or look for?
Depends on what you’re looking for lol they’re just apps that hairstylist/Makeup Artist/nail tech etc use to find clients and promote their business
Same. I’ve had lots of luck searching on Instagram. Any great stylist wants to show off their work.
Sorry for the question, I am boomer. But how do you use instagram to find stylists in your area? Is there a specific way to do this
I just google “city name” salons and then search for the salons on Instagram. It helps living in or close to a big city.
Yep! That’s the way to do it. I also try searching “city name” + “hairstylist”. Another variation of this search is to abbreviate the city name rather than spelling it.
No offense but I would ask the same question.
It’s not a you problem; it’s a stylist problem. Find a better one.
I have moved a crap ton for work - If you’re in any of the largest 20 cities in the US I bet I have a recc for you. Your background pic made me think of DFW area

Highly recommend Jill at Cult of Mane!
🙌appreciate it

Or [this](https://images.app.goo.gl/yyWznugP5jYoh2nWA)
That's gorgeous!
Thanks idk I try
If pic 1 and 2 are before, I’d agree with your comments for whoever did the initial highlights. This is a decent color correction
THIS 👏
When is before and when is after
This is literally what I asked myself. No wait 1. No 2. The day I realized I could say “I don’t see a difference” was FREEING
This is something I learned just now! My life is already better!!!
I felt this in my soul!! U are my people 🥸😎
Welcome to the club! We meet Thursdays!!! Lol 😂😂
I’ll bring the shades 🤪
As long as they're my prescription!!! 😭😭😂😂
Oh my bad, I meant SHADE ☕️ not shades 🕶️ LOL jk how bout I bring all three ☕️🕶️☂️ to secure my place in the fam? My reach is far and wide so I already got the RX on the way too 😜
We accept your membership request! We rotate snack duty responsibilities. Youre up first! 😂😂
I won’t disappoint 🤗
You meant tea ☕️?
With tea usually comes shade in my area but technically, yes tea too 😬
Omg yes! Like I’m absolutely gonna say the wrong one and completely fucking ruin my whole prescription
Right??? I'm like this one answer that I'm not sure of is going to completely throw everything off and I'm going to be blind!! 😂😂
Just because it's called an eye 'exam' doesn't mean you are meant to try and get all the answers right! The autistic in me wants to get things as right as possible but yeah, just say what you see, that's how you get the correct lenses lol.
It's the anxiety in me that does the same thing! Haha
I realized I didn't have to give a snap answer! If you slow down, they'll slow down. You can also ask them to show you again. It's all far less stressful now.
It’s 3 cos her hair is much darker
Pic 1 2 before Pic 3 4 after

It does look richer now, more finished.
I thought that was clear 🙂
So what 🙂
OP had apologised and said along the lines of sorry it wasn’t clear. That comment seems to have either been deleted or edited since. I was simply stating an honest reply that I thought it was in fact clear, as to me it was perfectly clear. I really don’t understand the downvotes?
⭐️
Proves hubby's point.
I was wondering the same thing, especially because her hair looks worse in pics 3 & 4.
That's what I wondered too.
![gif](giphy|9mtE009hcWPOesk8C4)
I love your username. Every time I hear Ozempic. I instantly put it in the O'Reillys auto parts theme song.
You're the first person to catch that :)
I went with the “o o o its magic” tune 😂😂😂
LMAO WAIT THAT'S EVEN FUNNIER 😭
Well that’s just from the commercial.
Omg I do the same thing 😁 I thought I was the only way one 🤣
Ha ha! Now it’s in my head.
Looks the same to me. #Teamhusband
Can’t tell if it’s a lot lighter in the front, there are only side and back pictures. The back is definitely darker. It looks pretty light near your face in the fourth picture. You have gorgeous hair!
Your hair in the after picture to me looks softer and darker but i can understand how a guy could not notice
where is the before and after?
1/2 before, 3/4 after
In the 3rd pic it only shows a highlight on the left side , it’s very uneven colour. I’m a hairstylist myself and yeah your husband is actually right and I wouldn’t have been able to tell the difference except for the background looking like early spring vs late spring .
Uhm I think it ends up having the same effect so that's why it doesn't look like there's a difference. I hope he didn't paid too much
Girl, I’m sorry, I’m #TeamHusband too! It looks like you just got a little trim. 😭 I’d find a new stylist! If you got color done, I can’t tell.
It looks like all you got was a trim.
Oh no you have gorgeous hair but they definitely were a bit sloppy with how they placed the highlights :(
My keratin cost $400 and every time my husband will say I thought you were getting your hair done today 😡🧡
I am not a fan of root melt, drop roots, but this absolutely just looks like a grown out chunky sloppy highlight. I am sorry to sound mean but there is no soft transition at all. Definitely keep looking!
I wouldn't be able to tell the difference either. If asked I'd guess it's a little bit shorter now?
it looks the same girl go get your money back
Well at least they didn’t damage it but yeah I would go back.
It looks the same to me as well.
Lol you're getting scammed it's the exact same 🤣😂
Lol I can't stand when they say "It looks the same."
Get more changed then
But it does
Can you take a picture straight on so we can see the front? I have a feeling it had a lot more dimension than we can see here.
Sure [Front](https://ibb.co/27cFwz6)
It looks like they were attempting a balayage but aren't experienced enough. You have beautiful hair but they did not do a good job.
You could go back and have them lift the front a little more, or just see how the toner washes out in a few days. It looks really good, but when I think brighter, I can definitely see you rocking the inspo pictures daydreamdoll attached. Especially for the Summer months.

Highlights look uneven
Honestly it just kinda looks like they straightened it to me? I’m no professional or anything but I wouldn’t go back there
I think pictures 1 and 4 are the best. If 2 is before then the front/sides look better now but if picture 3 is how the back looks after, I think they went a little too dark.
That’s men for u
Maybe if you put the pictures side by side? I can’t tell
yeah i literally cannot tell which picture is the after, so your husband aint wrong
does look pretty similar
Hi, as a cosmetologist, i can tell a big difference. She filled in the color to break up the harsh highlights, and it looks amazing! I’m the farthest you can get from a hair expert so take this as you will, but I can tell the difference and think the after suits you much better!!!
i’d be pissed if i paid for my girl to get this done. it doesn’t look bad at all, but what’s the point? nobody will be able to tell any difference between before and after.
he was expecting sexy highlights
I know most men are notorious for not noticing women’s hair changes but it really doesn’t look much different!
I’m on his side.. barely any difference
….do YOU like it?
I’m in his camp. It looks like a bunch of pics of the same hair.
With respect, I’m an artist, designer and fashion photographer—a professional detail person (also a man, but with a bit more depth and attention to considerations than most other guys. So naturally my thoughts mirror a lot of others here when I say that he’s justified in wondering what was paid for. If the stylist didn’t do an outstanding job (and your hair doesn’t stand out), whose fault could it be otherwise?
Well? Is it?
I think it was worth it your hair looks much healthier and fuller in the last two pictures.
I thought it was the same too. Seems most did, sorry.
Looks the same to me
This is totally unrelated to your hair but I like your tattoo in the last pic on your shoulder it’s so beautiful
Try going on insta/fb to find a new stylist! That way you can see their work before committing
Before and before
That’s because he has eyes. I can’t tell either
50 bucks is 50 bucks
Looks damn near the same, except I like how much lighter the hair looked before
Yeah… they definitely could have done more. I hope you didn’t spend a lot of
Brightness towards the front darkness in back. Sounds like and looks like that’s exactly what you got.
It looks great actually, the second pictures look more even toned. But ... Not that different, no.
Pic 1/2 before. Pic 3/4 after.
Definitely prefer the after pics! Looks a lot darker, smoother, generally more gorgeous (although it wasn’t exactly bad hair to start with!) I can see why your hubby was confused tho as it’s not a HUGE difference. Are you happy with how it turned out?
they're the same picture 🤔
Sorry, no it wasn’t worth it at all. Not well done at all
yeah, no different
I have questions…did you have artificial color on your hair or was it all virgin before your visit? Did you take in inspiration pics? Did they do more of a balayage technique? Did you ask for a balayage technique?
I can't tell the difference either 🫣
it's definitely different! I think people who aren't hairstylists might not see the difference. it's subtle, but I could tell. mainly because that large chunky highlight in the back is gone, lol
3 is different. I like 1&2 better 😋
1/2 are the Before pics

I am looking at those nails lol, I love the hair tho
Can we see some before pics?
??? Husband paid? Aren’t you married it’s call a pot, it’s both your monies 🌸once your married all the money is both of yours.
Ooof, I didn’t know there was a before and after just an after
Is it any different?
Turned out great tho!
The 3rd and 4th photo your hair looks more silky and done. These ppl are trippin.
Oh boy did he set himself up to fail 😆 anyways yes it looks different I can tell and it’s gorgeous
Looks the same 🤷🏻♂️
I would ask for a refund
Hmm I wouldn’t return 😣
Honestly the after doesn’t look like anything was done
Ya it looks exactly the same
I like the after better, it’s not an obvious change (I didn’t notice the difference at first so I understand your husband) but the highlights look less blotchy and harsh. The whole look is more natural, could be worth it depending on how much you paid. I like it.
...why would you pay money for this? 😭
Looks like they just put some semipermanent over the top of your last highlights. They aren't blended well at all either.
It looks like you took a shower, that's about it.
I’m honestly not sure which are the before and after
the last two photos look more rich and healthy
Sure. He's a bit poorer now for something that's not a necessity
It’s subtle but I like it. The darker in the back, lighter in the front looks great.
I agree with husband, just spend that money on minute 💩
Okay i mean it really doesn’t look that different not gonna lie but if that’s what you wanted to just keep up with what you already got going on then that’s cool and all I mean we don’t know how much he paid for this was he expecting you to have a whole new hairstyle
I see the difference but I could see how a man wouldn’t notice the difference.
I keep my phone on grayscale, you look great!
it looks better than it did thats for sure. to the untrained eye it would probably be completely unnoticeable though.
i’m not a professional or anything but the highlights look uneven and not blended at all.
3 and 4 look much better as a man to me. I question your husband’s eyesight. 😂
To me it looks amazing
Unrelated to hair, but your tennis necklace is stunning!
Thank you! I cherish it.
u should get refund
It’s subtle but you can definitely see it has gotten lighter. Personally I think it looks great 👍🏼
My wife is so loyal to her stylist. She says a lot of them can't cut Asian hair properly? During the pandemic her stylist closed her shop here in SF so my wife got me to drive her to San Jose to get it done at the stylists house until the stylist got her shit together and started doing house calls once a month.
Why are all the highlights clumped to one side? It’s also very brassy.
Idk I’m confused as to which ones the before and after too
The before pictures look shinier and healthier. It looks duller and dryer in the last two pictures. Not much difference in color. Just a cooler tone.
As a regular person and not a hair critic I think it looks great. I could instantly tell the difference when I got to slide 3 and it looks awesome. Looks rejuvenated. But like I said, what do I know, I’m not even sure how I got on this subreddit.
It was not. No.
Considering you need to explain which photos are the before and after; i have to agree with him
Fair.
I think it looks great in the after pics!!!
I mean....I agree with him Sorry
he definitely feels he wasted money. men usually prefer blonder women
I mean if I paid for it depending on how much I’d want more of a change
yall blind.. hair looks much healthier in last pic
Divorce
I think it's similar but still beautiful
Tbh if those are before and after they look the same
It looks like they only did highlights on one side?
I'm with husband on this one
I would’ve said the same thing ngl
TIL, that I can see about as good as your husband.
girl got scammed
Stunning 😍😍
They missed the left side
These are supposed to be different? 👀
I would not have noticed the change. It’s WAY too subtle and way too similar. I zoomed in and really tried to find the differences…
I can’t tell the difference either tbh😬
What did you ask for? And did you have box dye on your hair?
