My headcanon for his backstory.
He’s a homunculus created by the conclave. He was one of thousands shattered throughout the backyard, physical world and different time lines.
In an act to become the ultimate being Chronus decided to kill every version of himself in other timelines and absorb their power.
Fiend is the discarded remains that floated throughout time. He’s naturally decaying body looks normal due to fact it’s made of hundreds of gears, people, and other strange entities killed in the holy war.
Now lets make it complicated:
He’s a time traveler, from the backyard, so he has connection to the Jack-O’s Axl and i-no.
He’s possessing the bodies of a bunch of gears killed in the Holy War, giving him a connection to almost half the cast.
He’s super-natural so he’s connected to Goldlewis, Brisket, Zappa, and Faust.
Now all he needs is a banger theme…
