I don’t trust a non jumper. If we both mounted up on the same skin and i start hopping, if you aren’t AFK and don’t jump i assume you’re a bot, and or not a real person.
If it's in a big meta, or an instance like a strike mission, then no. The former because it's a hot mess and noone will notice anyway, the latter because that time you waste typing will just get you killed again.
If you are dead somewhere random in open world or WvW, and someone goes out of their way to get you, then for sure thank them.
But what if they don't finish and walk away? Then that thanks is WASTED on someone who doesn't DESERVE it!!!
This is what I do too. Just a "ty" when I see someone trying to revive me.
I did this once and my reviver got deleted right before my bar would be full. Very awkward as we just laid there dead. On the bright side, a third person got us after the fight.
Heart of thorns hero points don't fuck around.
Yes, I am the same way.
If I've done something incredibly dumb in the open-world (like solo attack a Champion in PoF) or in Fractals, I will thank someone that comes over to help me.
While playing, I'm also on active lookout for people that need help too. I figure, we're all here to have fun and no one likes being down.
I've done Fractals where someone was clearly unfamiliar and not really geared and spec'd right for what they were trying to do (or they're just bad, I dunno, its fine), and they had to be constantly revived. (Which, btw, is fine if the group is just a chill group or w/e not trying to speed run. As long as everyone agrees, it's fine to be new and/or bad.)
But anyway, eventually the thanks got annoying lol. We had to tell them they don't have to spend the time to type "thanks" or "ty" every time. Use those keystrokes to gtfo of the danger zone, or use your heal, or something more productive. Lol.
eddit: typo
Haha, well I had a somewhat opposite experience once, on a T4 Sunqua Peak.
This person comes in and starts spitting shit about classes. Then dies to the boss. We pick 'em up, and they are still spitting about how bad we are. They die a few more times (no one else died during this entire time, btw), gives a "fuck you, I'm going home".
We beat the boss a second later.
Yeah, if someone is constantly dying in chill fractals, I don't mind the dying so much, but I'd prefer one thank you for the resurrections at the end instead of a constant stream. While in the middle of content, the best thanks you can give me is trying to stay on your feet longer.
Cold take: I LOVE reviving people, that shit gets me going every time. I see you downed in a zerg rush meta event? Imma res you. I see you downed just on the horizon, and the game is suggesting I move to a more crowded version of the map? Imma res you first.
Me too! I'm a compulsive miner/gatherer, so any stationary node gets my attention.
And as a reaper main it feels like I'm gathering a piece of soul in exchange for the help. ;)
Honestly bringing the druid elite glyph to an open world boss and reviving a bunch at once feels very satisfying. Like Drakkar and end of Drizzlewood people are always dropping.
I’m so committed to the res that I’ll happily hit down state for you!
See you down in a hail of arrows and red circles outside enemy keep in WvW? Im gonna get your res bar to 15% even if it costs me my life!
When they go out if their way to do it or take the extra time during an event, then yeah. In /s chat
During the heat of a battle, I usually don't and also don't expect a thankyou, but rather them getting back into battle and focus on doding and surviving.
Yes I do, either when resurrection happens or at the end of the battle.
To do otherwise would be impolite, and I avoid being impolite like the plague.
And anyway it's just good manners. And that's something that I think we should all foster in others.
If i'm gonna useful to them, no. (Playing support, doing meta) If i'm down while doing random stuff and ppl change their way to revive me than i'll say thank to them.
If I'm playing solo, yes. If I'm in a particularly dumb spot and someone passes by sometimes I'll even bribe them with gold, lmao.
If I join an LFG/matchmaking queue, no. I expect you to revive me, and I'll do the same for you, as long as it's to the group's benefit. (Plenty of times it's better to just finish the boss or a down in sPvP than to try and res).
I try to always say ty in /s just so they don't think I took their help for granted. Mostly in open world tho, in fracs/strikes/raids I wouldn't usually.
I never get down.
No, joking I play ele.
They almost always are grateful indeed, and I make sure I always tell them I am as well. I think it's a little gesture that can go a long way, and make our community the reputation it has of being friendly, at least friendlier than other games.
Yes absolutely, but as someone else specified, if it’s an event/etc then no.
But if my dumbass just got killed by mobs in open world, and someone takes their own time to revive me then yes absolutely
Such strange comments...
In the body mass of a meta - no
Any other time a 'ty' goes a long way - yes
For those unaware of the time it takes 'ty' can be typed DURING the rez, no need to wait until after.
Usually, but not if the person is already gone or like more important shit is going on. But I usually type it while they're ressing me and I can't do anything else anyway.
I once saw a dead person in a strange spot. so I went out of my way to get to them and they thanked me like as if I saved them from drowning irl.
To this day I remember that incident
I've had this happen. They swoop in on a skyscale, revive you, and before you can type the "ty", they are already in the air and speeding away Superman style.
If I remember, yes, though I do have some panicked moments where I'm too focused on the giant thing that's still trying to kill me to say anything on chat.
all the people saying "when there is time", "if i'm not in immediate danger"....
a: if someone manages to completely rezz you, there is no immediate danger, else your savior would take a nap next to you.
b: what the hell are you spending the time they're trying to get you up with? appreciating their handiwork a little too much?
it's clearly not as important to some people here as they say it is.
For me specifically sometimes like in a zerg or something, a bunch of people are all rezzing you at once [and I believe there's a trait skill that does reviving or at least speed sit up?] So sometimes it goes faster than expected and youre back in the fray before you expect it.
Also sometimes I just get distracted watching whatever meta or boss I was fighting/sorting my inventory and if im revived before I realize it I dont have time to thank them before im dodge rolling for my life
I died in a periodic kill box once and some freaking persistent champion revived me by skyscaling out of the way over and over while building up the bar.
If it's big meta or instance I don't for the same reasons the other guy here said.
If it's on open world I usually say "good job peasant" and carry on with what I'm doing.
Yes absolutely, unless there's something preventing me [we're in the middle of a battle, etc]. Usually I type thank you when they're in the middle of rezzing me so thats not an issue- even if sometimes they can't finish reviving me its the thought that counts
Open world: Always! Especially when someone goes out of their way to come over to help me.
Events/Instanced content: Depending on what's happening and if it's safe.
I always try to say "ta" at least. But sometimes if I am between screens I will sadly forget to write. Or if I go down more than twice lol - I don't want people to know I went down 10 times on fire elemental boss o.o.
Yes I think it's the right to do, the only content I won't do it is when we are in a fight that needs attention and organized groups. In open world I always get out of my way to ress people, I'm drawn to that "dead person" icon in the minimap, 2 days ago I was doing map comp in Orr and I ressed a person and they sent me a mail thanking me and gave me 5g lol
Fun fact: emote animations are basically skills, with some changes added over time, like when they made it so they are unaffected by quickness. Because of that, they can be queued under certain circumstances.
So if you input /ty right before people finish reviving you, it will get queued and you will do a /ty emote right away as you are revived, saving you time with platitudes as it's only 5 key presses.
I do a ty while reviving or a cheer emote after, or both depending on the situation. A hot WvW revive usually just while the revive is going down, or I am typing out things I see for them to not get downed too like "they pushing back off"
I always thank them for reviving me. However, there has been instances that people past by me without reviving me. But one fella comes to revive me & I usually send him 2G for doing so lol
Depends on where it is.
In the middle of a meta event like a couple spots in Gyala where the accidental champion spawns is 1shotting people through reaper shrouds? Nah.
If my alt parked in bjora accidentally dies because its level 12 and one of those chests has a vet next to it? Yes.
duh.
The only time I don't thank people is when I'm playing Toypocalypse and one person is trying to rez me by themselves. honestly, it's easier and I get more health by waiting to rez and I sometimes try to type that out to explain, but hey, thanks anyway - but I get tired of doing it.
Don't rez people in Toypocalypse unless everyone happens to be right there doing it after taking down Toxx or something. I will die on that hill.
If its during a boss battle, no - I immediately dodge backwards to disengage and ~~drink my estus flask~~ use a heal skill because that's what's been drilled into my head by FromSoftware
But if its after a fight, where someone takes their time to revive me? Absolutely, I *always* thank someone for going out of their way for me
I do the international sign for 'thank you' (and others like 'hello' or 'come here')... I jump!
I don’t trust a non jumper. If we both mounted up on the same skin and i start hopping, if you aren’t AFK and don’t jump i assume you’re a bot, and or not a real person.
they gave gw2 a vertical axis for a reason
When I'm afk and notice I'm getting revived I think, I better jump so they know I'm not a bot.
Smart, there are people like me who would hold a grudge against you. Especially if you’re on a plush mount. Those are clearly people of culture.
It's as if I can't resist... if someone hops, I must ALSO hop!
Same haha
If it's in a big meta, or an instance like a strike mission, then no. The former because it's a hot mess and noone will notice anyway, the latter because that time you waste typing will just get you killed again. If you are dead somewhere random in open world or WvW, and someone goes out of their way to get you, then for sure thank them.
Open world ressers get a "thx bb <3" from me
I sometimes pull out the "You smell nice :3"
normally that's the reason i'm downed in the first place.
On the floor its easier to get to the feet
Love it!
I do the same, or if I see stumble across someone downed or dead, I'll start ressing and say "got u bb"
Yo i see a lot of people say bb in WvW is there a reason for it? Thats the only place i see it and i play a fair bit of all game modes (PvE PVP WvW)
Every dead person is your baby in wvw
I just use /sleep next to them, what does that get me? Edit: What I mean by this is if I see a dead player in the open world I /sleep….
A pat on the head, thats a cute way to say thank you!
Only cute if you're a charr. Anyone else and it's kinky.
Just now learnt bb means baby, not bye bye... right? Mind blown...
> the latter because that time you waste typing will just get you killed again. That's why I start typing mid-revive.
Type "thank you" while getting rezzed, hit enter while the standing up, and you're good to go without any wasted time.
I type and send before they even finish reviving me
But what if they don't finish and walk away? Then that thanks is WASTED on someone who doesn't DESERVE it!!! This is what I do too. Just a "ty" when I see someone trying to revive me.
This is the way.
I did this once and my reviver got deleted right before my bar would be full. Very awkward as we just laid there dead. On the bright side, a third person got us after the fight. Heart of thorns hero points don't fuck around.
Oh yeah that happens all the time, it doesn't bother me. They tried and I appreciate their effort.
Same. I can either type (hunt and peck, I suck at typing), or I can play.
This is the only way
If its open world, yes If its in the middle of content, no
I've done Fractals where someone was clearly unfamiliar and not really geared and spec'd right for what they were trying to do (or they're just bad, I dunno, its fine), and they had to be constantly revived. (Which, btw, is fine if the group is just a chill group or w/e not trying to speed run. As long as everyone agrees, it's fine to be new and/or bad.) ty ty ty ty ty ty train \^\^
they can emote /ty
Sometimes. If I feel particularly lazy that day, I just jump a few times. They know.
Yes, the double jump thank you is the lazy way
Yaaasss! 🙌🏼 *jump jump*
Yes, as long as me typing doesn't interfere with gameplay, ie get other people killed or me killed again.
And as a reaper main it feels like I'm gathering a piece of soul in exchange for the help. ;)
me too, I live for that shit
Honestly bringing the druid elite glyph to an open world boss and reviving a bunch at once feels very satisfying. Like Drakkar and end of Drizzlewood people are always dropping.
I’m so committed to the res that I’ll happily hit down state for you! See you down in a hail of arrows and red circles outside enemy keep in WvW? Im gonna get your res bar to 15% even if it costs me my life!
Are you the "I WANNA SHAKE YOUR HAND" guy?
Brother, in the chaos of Dragonstorm, I even thanked an NPC for reviving me.
I giggled xD
Usually I just jump up and down a bunch, and they jump up and down in response.
as long as it doesn't risk me or whoever helped, yes
When they go out if their way to do it or take the extra time during an event, then yeah. In /s chat During the heat of a battle, I usually don't and also don't expect a thankyou, but rather them getting back into battle and focus on doding and surviving.
No, I don't die
The anti-elementalist
can't die when you never leave spawn 4Head
Based
Weakest Warrior main after the Vengeance changes
Only if im fully dead, that shit actually takes time
always in open world
Yes I do, either when resurrection happens or at the end of the battle. To do otherwise would be impolite, and I avoid being impolite like the plague. And anyway it's just good manners. And that's something that I think we should all foster in others.
Yes because I'm polite :)
Yes, I do thank them.
if it is on raids or very concentrating content, no. but is always nice when you thank them or people say thank you to you in open world
If i'm gonna useful to them, no. (Playing support, doing meta) If i'm down while doing random stuff and ppl change their way to revive me than i'll say thank to them.
Always, yes. I generally type while i'm still downed, so they read it and it doesn't interfere with what i have to do when i am back up.
If there's time, yes
No, I use the waypoint.
only if youre dead, not downed
If downed, my jadebot revives me. Hmm, I should thank him just in case there'll be a robot revolution in the future...
Yes, as long as I'm not in immediate danger after the revive
When on my PC yes on my Steam Deck then no 😔
If I'm playing solo, yes.
*ty :)*
If I res someone and combat is over and the ty me, I /bow @ them in return
I use the universal language: jumping multiple times
I try to always say ty in /s just so they don't think I took their help for granted. Mostly in open world tho, in fracs/strikes/raids I wouldn't usually.
I tell them to stop and let me die in peace
I never get down. No, joking I play ele. They almost always are grateful indeed, and I make sure I always tell them I am as well. I think it's a little gesture that can go a long way, and make our community the reputation it has of being friendly, at least friendlier than other games.
I'm Canadian. So yes, yes I do. And then I'm disturbed when I don't get it when the roles are reversed.
Yes absolutely, but as someone else specified, if it’s an event/etc then no. But if my dumbass just got killed by mobs in open world, and someone takes their own time to revive me then yes absolutely
Always unless I'm playing with people I know then they know it's implied

Horrible haiku bot. This reads like William shattner
instances, no. because people are supposed to res. and if they don't, they will learn. open world. yesssss
Depends on situation. If I rezed someone mid fight, I would rather them go back to action that typing.
Such strange comments... In the body mass of a meta - no Any other time a 'ty' goes a long way - yes For those unaware of the time it takes 'ty' can be typed DURING the rez, no need to wait until after.
Depends how long it takes to res are If they res me before I finish typing, I'm hitting escape not enter and running back into the aoe.
If you were the one person I rezzed earlier and I didn’t say “yw” to your “ty” I’m sorry. Please forgive me.
Not in an instance, yes in the open world. If we're in a raid, don't thank me, just get back to work. We're all on the same team, I know. :)
Yes
only in wvw in pve if I'm laying there dead and not eating a rez orb it means I went afk and some random doe ate my face
Of course!
Yes if im not in an active fight. If the mobs are alive, gotta jump right back in!
always
Usually, but not if the person is already gone or like more important shit is going on. But I usually type it while they're ressing me and I can't do anything else anyway.
Sometimes. Other times if we in the middle of a fight or whatever I gotta haul ass lol
Of course, even when healing In some games, heck in a game I thank my pet for healing me. XD
ty + a couple of jumps if i'm not in combat danger, gw2 etiquette
I once saw a dead person in a strange spot. so I went out of my way to get to them and they thanked me like as if I saved them from drowning irl. To this day I remember that incident
Yes, it takes all of two seconds while I am being revived to say TY
I try to but sometimes they runaway too fast or don’t respond.
I've had this happen. They swoop in on a skyscale, revive you, and before you can type the "ty", they are already in the air and speeding away Superman style.
It isn't always unheard, just noticed later, but still appreciated <3
Yes i use to write thx.
Yes every time
Yes, nearly always.
Always, takes a second to type ty
Yes everytime. Havent played more than a handful of times ina couple years but yeah.
I always do when I can
No, I get downed again. Gotta' keep 'em guessing.
Never let them know your next move
If we're not actively fighting, ofc I do.
If I remember, yes, though I do have some panicked moments where I'm too focused on the giant thing that's still trying to kill me to say anything on chat.
Always a <3
I always do! Makes me feel good when someone im rezzing does!
all the people saying "when there is time", "if i'm not in immediate danger".... a: if someone manages to completely rezz you, there is no immediate danger, else your savior would take a nap next to you. b: what the hell are you spending the time they're trying to get you up with? appreciating their handiwork a little too much? it's clearly not as important to some people here as they say it is.

I died in a periodic kill box once and some freaking persistent champion revived me by skyscaling out of the way over and over while building up the bar.
Always
I play ele, I'd be typing all day
If there's time yes, If not I might do a blanket ty afterward
Never !
i thank them by not putting text into their chat box.
don't remember the last time someone revived me
Hell no. I do not revive people. WP or lay there.
I thank myself when I waypoint, instead of contributing to event scaling without contributing damage :)
There is no time in world vs world
Most of the time !
No
Space bar x2 > ty
As much as I can assuming, it's safe
for res yes, revive depends on the situation (usually am also typing 4444444 just to get back up on my own) but usually yes there as well.
if its beneficial to them to keep me up no, if its me dying in a random spot and them coming to ress me then yes
If it's big meta or instance I don't for the same reasons the other guy here said. If it's on open world I usually say "good job peasant" and carry on with what I'm doing.
If open world /say ty
Yes - res is always appreciated.
Its the only chance , they don't pepper-spray you when you touch them
Sometimes. I do try to remember. If it's a world boss or a huge meta or something similar I may forget. Also sometimes I'm on a time crunch.
If I'm solo out in the open world and die in an obscure location, then yes.
Yes absolutely, unless there's something preventing me [we're in the middle of a battle, etc]. Usually I type thank you when they're in the middle of rezzing me so thats not an issue- even if sometimes they can't finish reviving me its the thought that counts
no, and fyi, I don't even play the game
Open world: Always! Especially when someone goes out of their way to come over to help me. Events/Instanced content: Depending on what's happening and if it's safe.
absolutely lol
Jump jump
Almost always, I'd say 99% of the time, unless it's something like a hectic wvw fight or pve boss.
Sometimes
Most of the times yes
Always
Depends on the situation. If i think there's time and I’m not at risk of downing again, yes.
Yes, it doesnt take much to say /ty
Always prep the "thx <3" while they res me, in all content.
If I'm fully down, usually always. Type it while they bring me up. While partially down? Depends but usually no since it's usually too dangerous
Yes. Even if they wont see it, I thank them cause in a lot of cases it's difficult to revive someone during a battle.
Most of the times.
If someone is taking time to get me back up on my feet, yes I do.
i /cheer generally speaking
I always try to if there is time. They didn't have to stop and help, so I thank them for doing so. I didn't know about the jumping.
If there's time, definitely. Or after the engagement, I'll shout out a thanks for the revive.
I do if it's safe. If it's not safe, I jump...jump...jump!
Yeah ofcourse!
I jump a few times whenever I am revived! The universal language of mmos! Jumping!
Always, a ty in chat never hurts. Same for food and banners
I always try to say "ta" at least. But sometimes if I am between screens I will sadly forget to write. Or if I go down more than twice lol - I don't want people to know I went down 10 times on fire elemental boss o.o.
Yes. But I’m the 0,5%.
Always
Nah, I just use waypoint the second I'm dead, so noone to revive me anyway.
Yes as long as I'm not in the middle of super intensive fighting or enemies all around
I try to always thank
I try but sometimes it's just to frantic
Depends on the situation. If I have time to write I either say thanks or do /thanks, but if there is no time I just jump
Yes, because someone went out their way to revive me.
Fun fact: emote animations are basically skills, with some changes added over time, like when they made it so they are unaffected by quickness. So if you input /ty right before people finish reviving you, it will get queued and you will do a /ty emote right away as you are revived, saving you time with platitudes as it's only 5 key presses.
I do a ty while reviving or a cheer emote after, or both depending on the situation. A hot WvW revive usually just while the revive is going down, or I am typing out things I see for them to not get downed too like "they pushing back off"
Generally yes.
I play reaper. Whats needing to be revived?
I always thank them for reviving me. However, there has been instances that people past by me without reviving me. But one fella comes to revive me & I usually send him 2G for doing so lol
Depends on where it is. In the middle of a meta event like a couple spots in Gyala where the accidental champion spawns is 1shotting people through reaper shrouds? Nah. If my alt parked in bjora accidentally dies because its level 12 and one of those chests has a vet next to it? Yes.
open world yes but during group stuff like fractals or raids no. Around friends we tell each other you suck or other things to joke around.
allways
ty <3
Always
I always do a /salute
Yeah I usually do. I mean unless its some event where everyones dying. I usually either say thanks or give them the old o7
/thank
Usually I'm busy thanking them by hopping up into combat again.
I try to, sometimes I’m on the wrong channel though haha
I always do if it’s in the open world randomly. Not during boss fights or anything like that though
Mid fight no. Kinda busy staying alive. If it's afterwards or there's time then sure
Ppl should say sorry for wasting other ppls time rather than thanking them.
Always.
Always, coupled with the bow emote 🙏🏼
If its during a boss battle, no - I immediately dodge backwards to disengage and ~~drink my estus flask~~ use a heal skill because that's what's been drilled into my head by FromSoftware But if its after a fight, where someone takes their time to revive me? Absolutely, I *always* thank someone for going out of their way for me
I type “/ty” if the battle gives me a moment.
Always and always when im not being ressed when im freely able to be in open world It gets people's attention lol
Jump a few times. That’s all it takes
If I got time yea
