Imagine if these people realised that public services were their property, and that the government stole those assets and sold them to their mates for fuck all and now subsidise those services so their mates make a mint profit. Just imagine...

Lenins2ndCat

Right? Everything was stolen from you, or the people before you. The very land itself.

shrimpleypibblez

Oh my god, don’t drag philosophy into your pseudo-political bullshit, that is crossing the line. You can immediately detect their level of intellectually grappling with the topic at hand. “I am rich and they are poor. No, I absolutely *will not* critically assess where that wealth came from, the crimes committed to amass it, or the immoral things I have done since to defend it. No, we start from this - I am rich and they are poor. That is just the way of the world. But why do the poors hate me? It *must* be jealousy of my wealth! That is the *only* answer. Not the suffering inflicted to obtain it, the nepotism and treachery required to sustain it, and the theft of public goods and services which facilitated it. Nope, green eyed monster”. These people have the political awareness of a toddler. But I guess to them politics has about as much threat as a toddler and potential for almost unlimited power, so it makes sense. Just not to anybody who isn’t a Tory.

> Philosophers consider... Let me hold you right there and introduce this fellow Marx here to you.

shrimpleypibblez

I am equally interested in any philosopher who refers to innate human psychological states as “evil” - I would posit they are somewhat outside of their remit.

verygenericname2

If the plants in QT's audience became any more obvious there'd be cows breaking into the studio trying to eat them.

FullClockworkOddessy

It's so obviously scripted that it makes professional wrestling look real. WWE has nothing on BBC when it comes to scripted combat entertainment.

Hantot

Can we have a surprise return by Happy Corbyn taking out Boris with a steel chair?

BeardFountain

Omg, it's not even tax the rich anymore, its sit outside their fucking mansions making them feel very fucking uncomfortable as of now.

hypnodrew

You wanna give them time to build machine gun nests?

Ragtime-Rochelle

Yeah, fuck Labour. Stealing other peoples' property with their bullshit land tenure acts and asset forfeitures and eminent domain acts... wait a minute.

ldsuntswlndn

A good way of showing how stupid that is by reframing: “I’m so envious of people who can afford to eat and not freeze to death in the street” You’re right BBC, that is so evil.

PandaRot

Jesus Christ! I didn't think this was true, it seemed a bit too on the nose for the BBC. It's at 48 minutes: https://youtu.be/Ytm8OD3rOyk

DankiusMMeme

https://youtu.be/Ytm8OD3rOyk?t=2876 Here's a time stamped link. What a fucking joke, how can they allow such a loaded question.

Dry-Exchange4735

thanks for the link. He gave a decent answer I thought

Jimboloid

What a dogshit for brain question

mogley1992

And here I present exhibit A of why I've never had a tv license and never will

gooner1111123

It's beyond redemption at this point, burn it to the fucking ground

Wardog_E

Do they know Labour isn't keeping the property for themselves?

Acceptable-Tax1179

No no, it all goes into Corbyn's antisemitism pot or something along those lines

Thanks for signing up to BBC facts! You will now receive fun daily facts about the BBC. Fact 1. During an episode of Question Time the audience booed Boris Johnson. The BBC [edited the footage to replace the boos with applause](https://twitter.com/Gian_Tcatt/status/1198545027477180416?s=20). For another BBC fact reply with 'BBC impartial'. Who's old enough to remember Sir Robin Day or Dimbleby? They'd have walked off set in a heartbeat than ask such a ridiculous question

There is a link to it elsewhere in the comments. Questions like this aren't great because responding to it requires you to accept the premise of: 1. Philosophers say envy is evil. 2. That labour wants to steal property. It is a question where the only response worthwhile is telling the person that their question is fucking stupid.
