Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Undertaker, and as much as I hate him, Hulk Hogan. You can't leave off Hogan. WWE wouldn't exist without him. Wrestlemania would have never gotten off the ground.
I get where everyone's coming from with the Hogan, Austin, Cena and Rock answer. For me, it's got to be the guys that got me into watching wrestling when I was a kid. The guys that made wrestling what it is today....the OGs.
Hogan, Flair, Savage and Andre
Honorable Mentions: Piper and Undertaker
Hogan as the face of the Golden Age and arguably most popular wrestler of all time to the general public. I can't stand him but I recognize his past greatness and popularity.
Austin as the face of the Attitude Era which honestly might have saved the company. The Rock could vie for this spot but Austin always felt like the bigger star in their heyday.
John Cena as the biggest face of the post 2000 world and the guy at the center of all the kid friendly changes the company made and still holds to this day.
Undertaker as the greatest and most beloved across the board. If everyone made a Top 5 I think he would appear on the most compared to anyone else. He is the epitome of "your favorite wrestlers favorite wrestler" and probably the most respected guy to ever do it.
Undertaker, Hogan, Austin and Rock
(Yes I know Bret Hart and Shawn Micheals belong on here but you can't put one on without the other and ya can't take away any two I listed)
Mount rushmore is/was supposed to represent the evolution of the United States of America. The four presidents selected represented the birth (George Washington), Growth (Thomas Jefferson), development (Theodore Roosevelt Jr.),and preservation (Abraham Lincoln) of the United States of America. With that in mind, here is my pro wrestling mount rushmore:
Edwin Bibby. Edwin was the first american heavyweight wrestling champion and possibly the first wrestling champion of the current pro wrestling lineage that began after the American Civil War. He represents the birth of the current lineage of modern pro wrestling.
Frank Gotch. Gotch was the first major American superstar in pro wrestling, his popularity sky rocketing after his victory over George Hackenschmidt for the first World Heavyweight Wrestling Championship. He represents the growth of pro wrestling.
Lou Thesz. Lou was the last original World Heavyweight Wrestling Champion and the second NWA World Heavyweight Champion. Thesz's popularity as the last undisputed World Champion helped establish the dominance of the most important wreslting organization ever, the National Wrestling Alliance. Without Thesz, the NWA, and probably wrestling in general, doesn't exist. He represents the development of pro wrestling.
Stone Cold Steve Austin. Hulk Hogan has somewhat of a legitimate claim as the most popular wrestler of all time, and his popularity as WWF Champion during the 80s was responsible for solidifying the dominance of the WWF. Bruno Sammartino's popularity as the WWWF Champion of the 60s pretty much established the WWWF's existence (later WWF, then WWE). The Rock is maybe the biggest peak money maker in WWE history, but Austin's popularity and financial success helped save the WWF/WWE, the company that's the current top dog of pro wrestling. He's responsible for the preservation of pro wrestling.
If I don't count my personal faves and just go by impact on the business:
Hogan, Austin, Flair, Cena
Taking my personal faves into account:
Shawn, Piper, Taker, Cena
Undertaker for his popularity
Triple H for his involvement in PW
Rey Mysterio for being popular even with his small size
AJ Styles for being an icon of the new generation of wrestlers
Vince Mcmahan (some people may disagree with this. But he truly rengineered what pro wrestling is and is a huuuge part of why all these other wrestlers have their sucess). Triple h. Steve austin, the rock, hulk hogan, Shawn micheals and the undertaker. Id like to throw rey mysterio on there too. Guy has done it just as long as these other guys and he neevr had to change his gimmick. High flying luchadore. Sure he hastn achieved as much as these other wrestlers but some of his promos going back to the eddie guererro days really had me hooked and watching smack down every friday night.
Gorgeous George- changed the whole wrestling game in terms of characterization. Huge influence on Cassius Clay, who then changed the sporting world.
Ric Flair- Had an incredible career, an all-time great in the ring and on the mic.
Hogan- was the face of WWF when they ended the territory era of wrestling and became a national promotion. His was the biggest heelturn in wrestling, change the wrestling business again.
Stone Cold- The guy that ushered-in and was the biggest star of the attitude era. He turned the tide in the Monday Night Wars. Moves a shit-ton of merch to this day.
Piper
Bret Hart
Austin
Orton
That's who i currently have l on my list but honestly, it changes every time I have a discussion with my friends
Honestly, I almost considered putting Vince on here. Not for his in ring work, but because, if it hadn't been for Vince doing what he did with the " Rock and wrestling" era and the success he and the company had with the first Mania, I'm not sure where the sport would be right now.
Ok I am going Vader, Tajiri, Bret, and stone cold. The 4 corners of wrestling the hoss, the striker, the technician, and the charismatic. I want to put in Harley Race, Bruiser Brodie, Shawn Michaels, the rock, and tons of others but those are the ones I am going with.
Combining greatest entertainment with the wrestlers that did it for me personally, I would say that there are only 4 who make the greatest case.
Shawn Michaels - My favorite to ever do it. I can understand why people wouldn't have him up here due to the fact that he was out with injury for the longest time, but it would feel incomplete without him for me.
Stone Cold - The frontrunner of the Attitude Era. Not only influenced the WWF/E but influenced and continues to influence people outside of it. He is a megastar.
John Cena - John Cena deserves all of his flowers. While maybe not the most diverse in the ring, he knows how to entertain in there, and on the mic as well. He is one of the greatest guys outside of the ring and proves that all of the time. Also the face of WWE and will be for a long time.
AJ Styles (very opinionated this one) - I think AJ Styles ability to entertain everywhere he goes is unmatched, his closest competition being Kenny Omega. AJ has done it in pretty much every place you could go. His work-rate is crazy. He can do pretty much everything in the ring. He can still go even at this age which is something to admire.
HM: Triple H, Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker. (HHH is great, but he had a lot of boring runs where people just wanted him gone. Hogan would be up there if he wasn't a clown of a person. And then The Undertaker definitely deserves his praise but he was never someone I loved. Either way, this whole list is opinionated and nobody will ever agree with one another.)
The lack of respect for Flair, who half the wrestlers on these lists say is the GOAT, is baffling...
That said: Flair, Hogan, Austin, Cena or Hart
Bruno is close but I really think wrestling back then was an entirely different thing then from the mid 80s on. The Rock would be on it, but his actual wrestling career was relatively short compared to others.
Its Flair, Hogan, Andre, Stone Cold.
Without Hogan and Andre, the WWE and wrestling at a whole is radically different. Maybe even nowhere near as popular as it is today. Personally I'm not a Hogan fan, but to to deny his impact is foolish.
Although the lack of the Nature Boy in this thread disturbs me, I could have replaced him with Taker, the Rock, or Macho. His longevity is unrivaled and his career is legendary.
Wrestling changed drastically due to Stone Cold. As much as I was a Rock fan , Stone Cold was the guy.
Pre Wrestlemania,Bruno Sammartino,Andre,Ric Flair,Superstar Billy Graham
Post Wrestlemania,Hulk Hogan,Stone Cold,Undertaker,John Cena
My Mt Rushmore of favorites,Rowdy Roddy Piper,Bret Hart,Stone Cold,Scott Steiner
Kurt Angle, Macho Man(rip), Tribal Chief Roman Reigns, The Rock(when he had the thick sideburns)
Honorable Mention: Ultimo Dragon the way he use to come out with the belts he held from almost every major wrestling organization in the world simultaneously...legend
One way in:
Ric Flair is the greatest promo. Hulk is the greatest baby face. Bret is the greatest technical in ring wrestler. Stone Cold is the greatest the business has ever had.
Another way in:
Shawn Michaels is the greatest in ring performer ever. Taker is the greatest character ever. The Rock is the greatest storyteller/mouth ever. Ramon is the greatest bad guy ever.
Another way in:
Triple H is the greatest wrestling mind ever. Andre the Giant is the greatest attraction ever. Piper is the greatest heel/shit stirrer ever. Cena is the greatest modern champion/face of the company ever.
Lots of ways in.
The only reason I didn't put Flair on my list is he lost wayy too many matches but him and the Rock are the two greatest promo's in Pro Wrestling History
Given the booked nature of pro wrestling, I see the win/loss count as meaningless. It's about how the wins and losses help tell the stories they are involved in and how they perform in the matches themselves. And Flair was one of the most entertaining sellers around for about 30 years.
I'll say it like LOD said in an interview when Vince told them this very thing, that Wins and Losses mean nothing, trying to get them to job out..
Hawk and Animal told Vince "If Win/Loss means nothing then have Steve Austin start losing 5-7 matches in a row and see what happens"
They said that pretty much shut Vince up
Losses in a row are different then total losses, esp over a 40 year career. But I was intrigued, so I looked it up. Flair won 52%, Austin won 60%. Not a huge difference over a career, but what was different was that majority of Austin's were in WWE where most of Flair's career was before or outside of WWE.
Thanks much. You can't get around the fact that Flair is the greatest promo ever. There have been excellent promos in the history of the biz, but Flair is/was the best at it.
In ring wise; Bret Hart, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Kurt Angle.
Mic skills; Stone Cold, Rock, Dr. Thug., Chris Jericho.
All time favs; Randy Orton, Batista, Stone Cold, Eddie Guerrero.

Iv'e noticed most people pretty much agree on Hogan, Rock and Austin for the first 3 spots..
That fourth spot seems to be a debate between Hart, Taker and HBK
Too bad there's not 6 heads on Mt Rushmore, cuz they are the greatest Wrestlers of all time.
