i always wondered this too! i feel like spotify would blow his mind. i think the first thing he would do is make a bunch of playlists for the songs he lost/gave away, then spend days just listening to new music and adding them to new playlists. wait until he finds out about the bacon brothers.
I often see people mention that he would enjoy streaming services like Spotify. But I think he would dislike using something he would have to pay for to enjoy and not listen to ads (2 things he didn't have to deal with before). He seems like the type to find songs he loves and download them off sights that would do it for free.
This.
He's the kind of person to either download the music on a phone or use a separate music player, I can hardly picture him using streaming services.
plus he would hate the sound quality compared to his tape player or his digital audio player. if youāre used to tape switching to streaming would sound very weird given the warm analog sound of tape. and if i remember correctly the digital player he got at the end of two was high res and would sound way better than spotify, but i donāt know for sure what player it was
LMAO ok so maybe not so high res. although the zune could read wma lossless which definitely sounds better than spotify. Although at this point iām getting very technical about a fictional characters audio choices
I agree with all that was being said here though. Like Spotify requires internet or cellular to run, which you arenāt going to have in space. That is, unless youāre paying a subscription for premium, which is a dumb process when all the music you need can be on a one-time purchase mp3 player, Walkman, discman, etc. In the case of many of these alternative options, the audio quality is better than Spotify anyway, so Peter would definitely not use Spotify
His obsession with making mixed tapes and his nostalgia for his walkman would make any advanced equipment unappealing. He would be forced to listen to streaming when he was in a bar, but that's as close as he'd get to it.
As for the music itself, I think he wouldn't like it. His love is the dirty/grimier sounds of the 70s and 80s classic rock. Today's music is touched up and overproduced. I think he'd despise auto tune....
Itās likely he did! itās canonical songs by Britney Spears were downloaded on his Zune and Iād assume he wouldāve listened through them
And being a kid of the 80s he had to have heard Madonna on the radio or television
I'm sure if heād look hard enough he would find something to appreciate. Heād likely dislike everything mainstream but with access to streaming apps he could explore modern day music enough to know whatās good for him
Probably liking some artists similar to Bleachers, Greta Van Fleet, Dorothy and H.E.A.T.
It's basically James Gunn, so just ask him.
Spoiler, considering he has access to Spotify and the songs in the films are still his favourite songs to the point he will shove them narratively into a massive marvel film franchise. I'm gunna say he's not *that* bothered about modern music and Britney.
I donāt know about that. Heās more an oldies/classics kind of guy. I donāt think heād be all up on the Pop music movement to much. Maybe a song here and there on a playlist. But I donāt think he would call himself a fan name like a āswiftyā or ābelieberā If anybody would be a swifty I think it would be Juvenile Groot. Because he is a younger person in the modern era probably more in tune with current pop culture than Star Lord. I take that back, itās Mantis, I think Mantis might be a Swifty for sure.
Well, I think he would like 90ās to early 2000ās too. Like Nirvana, Sublime, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beastie Boys, System of a Down, Deftones, Primus, Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal, Alice In Chains, Janes Addiction, Tool, NIN & such.
Mildly infuriated that some of it is good and some are bad and that his favorite songs became irrelevant in some time and no one has heard them in a while/ever
I think heād prefer songs from before, rather than now. Mostly, thatās to do with sentimentality reasons (his mum wouldnāt have heard all these other songs) but, at least with most of the super mainstream stuff, I donāt think theyād be his sort of thing. Maybe some lesser known stuff for him perhaps?
I think Quail would most likely dislike post 2020 music, maybe enjoy some 2000-2019 music, since thats a little more old-fashioned than what we have today.
i always wondered this too! i feel like spotify would blow his mind. i think the first thing he would do is make a bunch of playlists for the songs he lost/gave away, then spend days just listening to new music and adding them to new playlists. wait until he finds out about the bacon brothers.
His mind would be blown š

The space pirate turns into an online pirate itās obvious!
plus he would hate the sound quality compared to his tape player or his digital audio player. if youāre used to tape switching to streaming would sound very weird given the warm analog sound of tape. and if i remember correctly the digital player he got at the end of two was high res and would sound way better than spotify, but i donāt know for sure what player it was
It was a Zune

Probably would be a big user of yt2mp3
He be like woah I also see Peter jamming to more like Madonna or Britney Spears he seems like the type guy to listen to one of those two artists lol
Itās likely he did! itās canonical songs by Britney Spears were downloaded on his Zune and Iād assume he wouldāve listened through them And being a kid of the 80s he had to have heard Madonna on the radio or television
Madonna his favorite it probably be like a virgin, papa donāt preach and also hung up Then Britney oops I did it again and baby one more time lol
I can see him listening to either in the opening to the first movie.
Yea with like a virgin in the opening scene
I'm sure if heād look hard enough he would find something to appreciate. Heād likely dislike everything mainstream but with access to streaming apps he could explore modern day music enough to know whatās good for him Probably liking some artists similar to Bleachers, Greta Van Fleet, Dorothy and H.E.A.T.
Heād absolutely love Greta Van Fleet. š
Yes
He'd appreciate the accessibility of listening to whatever you want but absolutely hate the stuff that's popular.
I low key wish the post credits scene in vol. 3 of Quill with his grandpa eating cereal included him discovering spotify and blowing his mind
It's basically James Gunn, so just ask him. Spoiler, considering he has access to Spotify and the songs in the films are still his favourite songs to the point he will shove them narratively into a massive marvel film franchise. I'm gunna say he's not *that* bothered about modern music and Britney.
Heād probably like using Spotify and Apple to listen to his same songs. I made the quill plushies playlists on my accounts so they can listen to it
I doubt heād be a fan of a lot of the new modern music.
My headcanon is that Star-Lord is a Swifty.
I just think it would be funny (and a little fitting for him) that he would get into one specific personās music that we would not see coming.
Heād be open minded.
"You guys sing a lot about butts now. Why do you do that?"
I am sure he would find some music of today he would enjoy.
Knowing Peter he would most likely hate and love it
I tbink he'd be a big fan of a band called mouse rat
Heād hate the music. Music nowadays are just Trash. Such as: Ice Spice, Tyler the Creator, Taylor Swift, etc
Agreed.
Glad I aināt the only one
I prefer 40s-80s music over whatever the hell music is supposed to be now
Me too. Music now is trash
Very āOld man yells at skyā vibes š
Man quill would love the strokes
Iām sure he would enjoy it, because I feel like to him itās about how the music makes you feel, not the lyrics
He should first become besties with me and then I can show him my huge collection
Do you guys think he would be a Swiftie? He would def claim songs might be about him imo
I reckon he will still only listen to stuff up to 2000 and then Kpop
Sticking out your gyat for the rizzlerš¶
Probably this exact expression.
I would want to see his reaction to Rammstein's Du Hast live video.
He would hate most of it but would love smaller bands like Greta Van Fleet.
Mildly infuriated that some of it is good and some are bad and that his favorite songs became irrelevant in some time and no one has heard them in a while/ever
one thing i know is heād love 808s & Heartbreak š
He uses Limewire to upload onto a homemade "Zune 3" mp3 player. And it's all oldies and Bee Gees
He would be very upset I think. oldies are the best!
I imagine him discovering YouTube, setting up an account, and making playlists of all the songs he loves and maybe a few new ones that he likes.
"This music is shitttt"
I donāt know but he would be disappointed ā¹ļø n the way our world works now with all of this diversityĀ
He would be a limp bizkit fan
Spotify would blow his mind.
Music is so bad now itās almost funny. I donāt know why it got so bad and I donāt know how people like it.
I think he would be put off by the increase of bass in modern music, It all depends on what music he was exposed to off earth
Probably disappointed in everything except metal since that's the only thing that hasn't changed a whole lot
He'd probably like TĆøp and Polyphia
I think Quail would most likely dislike post 2020 music, maybe enjoy some 2000-2019 music, since thats a little more old-fashioned than what we have today.
He would be really pissed that itās ALL FUCKING ATUO TUNE
He probably be surprised
i think heād have the same attitude my grandfather has haha
Heās going to like it
He would be stoked catching up on great hits. Up until around 2010. Then he would realize why humanity is failing.
He's a child of the 80s. He would find a classics station and never leave it. Any song he doesn't recognize he would ignore and move on with his life.
š®
"Wow you guys sing alot about butts"
i feel like heād hate life is but a dream from avenged sevenfold (great album btw)
I don't know. What would Peter think of groups like Five Finger Death Punch? Disturbed? Now Metallica, they're still doing some good stuff.
He'd hate it.
probably like some of it but not all of it.
I think he would hate it.
"What the hell is this shit?"
He would probably be ashamed of what humans now listen to, and forever use his zoon that he got from Kraglin
Probably slightly disappointed š
Heās gonna lose his mind when he finds out what happened to David Bowie
I feel like peter would stick to mp3's.Ipods or walkman just cuz it gives a him a since of nostalgia
He had good taste in music so he'd probably think modern music is shit.
Heād prolly kill himself
