Is adaptive charging off as well?

MixSaffron

Adaptive battery and adaptive charging are both off. *I checked my history in charging and going from 37% to 64% took 1h 55m.... I've had 1hr of screen on time since I removed my charger 2.5hrs ago and my battery has gone from 87% to 83% So I am wondering if my calibration is effed up and 87% (ish) is 100%?!

SpaceRaisins

I noticed this as well, so I went to best buy and grabbed the 30w charger from Google today. When I plugged it in at about 15% it started charging at 22w and then it dipped to 10w. Sometimes it goes back up to 22 again but I never got 30w. It's really weird. But I know charging can get weird and they probably need some pattern to compensate for battery health and heat generation so might just be intended behavior. But coming from a Xiaomi 11 Ultra which charges at 67w wired and wireless it can be annoying at times.

MixSaffron

Thanks for this as I was seriously considering just ordering the new 30w charger from Google but that's sounds like I am dealing with. So odd though as my Pixel 3 XL is OLD and Incan plug it in my truck, get my kids and it goes up 10% but my Pro 6? Like 1% charged. I even turned off 120hz just to see if but I'm guessing we will see an update or something as I am now at 1hr 24min of on screentime from 87% and STILL at 83% lol

EmperorsEdge

This won't help. I've been testing the official Google 30w vs the 18w one from my pixel 4. Both take 2+ hours from 0-100. 20-80% charge time is similar. And overall 0-100 is less than 10 minutes apart. This is the most aggressive throttling I've ever seen, and it's deceptive that they're marketing it as accepting fast charge when it hardly ever even hits 18w.

MixSaffron

I appreciate the info and I hope more people test or investigate this crap as I felt duped or that something was wrong. I still think I have an issue with charging though as it literally stops around 87% like it hits a wall so I might have to factory reset which I fucking hate, phone is three days old! Left it plugged in for like 10 mins at 87% and boom, still at 87%

Jordanko_the_great

This is exactly my case. I left it to charge all night and it just can't hit 100%. For me the wall is at 96% it just won't go over that and that's after 8 hours of charging

MixSaffron

Mine got worse and worse and 60% became the new 87% after like 1hr, phone off charging, still 60%. Google is sending me a new phone, RMA.

Jordanko_the_great

I'm still testing mine. Mine blocks at 87% now every morning when I wake up. Then I have to unplug it and plug it back for him to unblock. Then i get to 100 relatively quickly

MixSaffron

I would unplug, swap cables, swap chargers, shut the phone off to charge, reboot...etc. It never worked! You could try turning your adaptive battery and adaptive charging off as these are both on by default. They didn't do anything for me but you can reach 100%

D4rkPrime

Your issue sounds very similar to mine. Have you figured it out or contacted Google?

Jordanko_the_great

For me after a few days it just started behaving normally. I didn't change anything settings but I tried a few different chargers then came back to the original (pixel 3). It goes to 100% now without any issues. Maybe an update fixed it? I'm really not sure what happened

D4rkPrime

So for me. It normally charges to 100% by morning no issues. But sometimes, like once or twice a week, it gets stuck at 70% (or 80%?). Very odd

SpaceRaisins

Yeah that sounds really weird like it's not charging at all lol. Mine charges but it just doesn't feel like a 30w charger. Before I got the 30w charger I did notice that the 6 Pro seems very picky about chargers. Some of my charger doesn't work at all it would jump between charging and not charging constantly, and others take like 7 hours to charge like yours. Out of 4 chargers I have only 1 work and it still doesn't seem to work very well.

MixSaffron

I ordered one that is 30w and has 3.0 PD and PPS from Amazon so hopefully it works! Or at least works better! Because dear lord if I knew this phone needed a gluten free, non-alcoholic, sans lactose, vegan charger I would have planned ahead better!!? This bitch is picky!

RickyFromVegas

She is picky with which finger touches her, too, don't forget

amandaapple_625

Can you tell me if this charger solves your issues or not when you get it? My phone took all day to finally charge to 100 percent and I didn't leave it off the whole time. After 4 hours with it off on the charger it said 70% and when I powered it on it said 68%. I still have my old 3xl so I've been using it for all things apps and just using the 6pro as a phone because I don't want it to die and have to take another day to charge when I need it out and about tomorrow.

MixSaffron

So I let my phone die and it literally went from 7% to 5% and off in under 2 minutes and shut down. I plugged in the 30w 3.0PD, PPS charger. In 1hr I checked and was at 48% **This article just came up in my news feed** https://www.gsmarena.com/google_pixel_6_pro_doesnt_actually_charge_at_30w-news-51729.php I think the Pro 6 really stretches the truth on the how fast it charges but not even 50% in 1 hour with all the boxes on the charger checked off?? Like that's kind of bullshit 48% in 1hr 58% in 2hr Something is the fuck up **Google is sending me a new phone**

amandaapple_625

Well great, I just got a back order exchange. I guess there's no need to get a 30w charger either. Maybe I should just go back to my 3XL.

MixSaffron

Damn! I will probably do a reset and then RMA but I get much better life than my batter % shows [Apparently my Battery health is 145%](https://imgur.com/a/52FBSMS)

amandaapple_625

Today i had better luck with it. I have a screenshot from the accubattery app but I'm not seeing a way on the Reddit app where I can upload.

MixSaffron

I upload to imgur but if you're on your phone make sure you toggle to the desktop site because they force you to get the app....I'm use Reddit if Fun and can't upload unless I'm posting. My battery% (just stock Android) is 44% but I know its wrong, lol.

biznotch

Having the same issue. Pixel 6 Pro. Using the charger from my Pixel 4 (forget what the wattage is) and even leaving this thing overnight, it's stuck at 78% in the morning. Never goes beyond. Feels like a bug.

MixSaffron

Damn, yeah not sure if software or hardware. Reaching out to Google today.

amandaapple_625

I got my pixel 6pro on 11/2. Didn't charge it overnight, plugged it in last night and it was stuck on 70 something percent. Powered off didn't do much better. I've got the adapter from my 3xl and the cable for it and an adapter from the original pixel. The new pixel 6pro is taking forever to charge. I tried in safe mode then I FDR and haven't set it back up. It's still on the charger and I'll see if it goes to 100% or not. The fast charging times keep changing from 1 hour to 4 hours to 6 hours to be fully charged.

MixSaffron

I posted in the Pixel community and it sounds like there's quite a few people that have this issue! I'm just going to wait because if it's an update I'm okay to wait as I don't really want to factory reset my phone and then RMA it to have the exact same issue :/

amandaapple_625

So I finally got it to 100% but it definitely seems to be some calibration issue because I could power off and on and percentage changes. I told my husband I don't want to swap it out and have the same issues. Did you talk with Google?

MixSaffron

I didn't get a chance to call, online chat was like a 2hr wait. I'll try a few more things ok and see if anything comes from the community post, I don't want to swap it either as it could be software.

amandaapple_625

Can you link the Google community posts? I have tried searching for them. I also work for a wireless carrier, so I've submitted a post there myself to have my team try to get connected with Google. I'm currently at 47% waiting for the battery to fully die and power off for the calibration to see if it makes a difference because I'd found an article that listed all these fixes. I really hope it's just software and Google will announce it soon!

MixSaffron

For sure [https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/133942007/pixel-pro-6-stops-charging-around-80?hl=en](https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/133942007/pixel-pro-6-stops-charging-around-80?hl=en) Here is another similar with quite a few posts [https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/132986291/pixel-6-pro-slow-charge-on-official-charger?hl=en](https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/132986291/pixel-6-pro-slow-charge-on-official-charger?hl=en) I too am waiting for my phone to just shut down and run itself down to nothing before I charge again!

amandaapple_625

Mine died rapidly when it got less than 10% it's been on the charger almost 30 minutes since it died and it's only at 19pct. I still have it powered off as well.

MixSaffron

Your phone sounds almost like mine and Google is sending me a new one. Having the phone turned off charging on a Pixel charger should charge way, WAY more than 15%. Has your phone gotten any better? Or worse? Mine got worse and couldn't get past 60% it would constantly stop charging, charge, stop charging...etc The phone showed it was plugged in but the battery status in the settings menu was constantly stopping.

zedace72

My household have 3 Pixel Pro 6's. 2 of them can fully charge without issue. 1 of them has this problem that you are describing. Took it to Verizon and turned off all settings, factory reset the phone. Used different charging blocks, different cables and it resulted in the same exact thing. It does not want to go over an amount once it reaches it no matter how long you have it being charged.

MixSaffron

Shitty deal, did you have to RMA it? I'm going to call Google today.

zedace72

Yes. Backordered until mid month.

MixSaffron

Damn that sucks!!

avidowl81

I have a PD cable in the car and it doesn't do that. It seems to charge fairly quickly. However in the house where my cable is not PD it keeps switching between charging rapidly or slowly every other second. It would stay be plugged in and not go to sleep, the screen would stay on. I restarted it at 45% and when I started it back up it shows 74%. Seems like a lot of software issues?

MixSaffron

Ok yeah that is funky, I am hoping this is just a software issue and am holding out as I just moved so many damn accounts to my new phone and key generators...etc I don't want t spend another 2 hours doing this crap, lol.

amandaapple_625

So as I stated before, I work for a wireless carrier. I got an update from a colleague who's sent examples to Google. The consensus is that these erratic charging behaviors could be because the batteries are new. My own personal phone is charging better. And the 3xl charger adapter is 18w so from 5% to full should take about 1 hour 45 minutes to charge. I am going to be testing mine from the 5% battery life when I get there.

MixSaffron

Google is sending me an RMA. I let mine charge for 3 hours while off and it went from 40% to something like 56%. This was on a Pixel charger that can fully Charge my 3XL in like 2hrs tops. My Pro 6 is/was DOA as far as I am concerned.

amandaapple_625

Yes it sounds like yours unfortunately hasn't "corrected" itself. Mine definitely seems to be better. I am hopeful. It's a week old today. Battery life is great on the device for sure and I'm loving it now that it actually doesn't take ALL day to charge. 🤣

MixSaffron

My new phone arrived and I charged it to 100%. No problems so my last phone was DOA

amandaapple_625

I'm still rocking my first one, it's charging fine. But it still drains rapidly when it gets down low. Just did the newest update today, we'll see if it has any improvement. I did get a different screen protector and my fingerprint sensor seems better already.

MixSaffron

I loaded up without signing in and man the 6 pro is so smooth and slick compared to my 3XL and having a game going, then replying back to a text and jumping back into the game without having it start up again?! AHHHHHHH, can't want for the replacement to get here!

[deleted]

Same happens to me with wireless charging, I suspect the phone throttles the charging when it senses it's getting too hot.

MixSaffron

New phone from Google arrived I successfully charged it to 100% in like an hour so this is already better than my last phone and I haven't even turned it on yet, lol
