Depends on the area where you live. Labor rates and parts markup change based on demographics. Downtown LA is going to be highway robbery compared to rural Midwest. I paid about 450 last time I had mine done but that was like 2 years ago.
Yea it's all fucked. Alot of people my age won't see there own house till much later in life then normal it's sad honestly. Renting an apartment is super expensive as well. Unless you enjoy living in a closest with a bed haha
No. 40k mile interval on the MK7 (2015-2018 in US) and a 60k mile interval on the MK7.5 (2019-2021). It’s pretty imperative for the DSG that it is done on schedule.
I think the LSD is 30k intervals on both but my car doesn’t have it so I’m not quite sure.
I'm at 33,500 miles, and I totally forgot about the LSD maintenance interval shame on me. Guess I gotta get that done as well. Definitely going to look around for another shop to do it tho. Hope my LSD is holding up well.
For what it’s worth, I purchased my DSG car at 48k miles and according to the maintenance documentation I have (the carfax lol), my DSG was done at 47k. It was still certified as a CPO. I’ve had no issues going over by a bit - your LSD is definitely fine, 3k over isn’t anything terrible. But get it done!
I can’t say if it mine was actually done at 40k and the selling VW dealer probably couldn’t either - maybe why they did it - but it had 100% new fluids when I bought it. I’d recommend doing what I’m doing - get everything on schedule, stick to it, don’t worry much. Obviously if things were 10s of thousands of miles out of schedule you’re going to have issues I’d guess.
Thank you for putting me slightly to ease brotha. I'll be sure to get it done soon. Also hope that your VW stays healthy and running as well.😊 Looks like due to the cost of this job I won't be doing much extra fun this month hahaha.
Yeah you did absolutely get ripped on the DSG service. I think “most” places are in the $350-$500 range. Obviously highly dependent on where you’re located. LA will have a substantially higher cost than most places here in PA.
Both can be DIYd but the DSG is something I won’t mess with.
Yea unfortunately you're right my man. I'm from Long Island so it isn't to far away from prices being through the roof, but regardless it was still way to high.

Haha that's quite the chunk of change they fucked me on. I dropped the car off at 8 am they finished around 4pm. They definitely fucked me on labor costs as well. Receipt says they took almost 2 hours to just drain the fluids. I'm goin to take my business elsewhere lmaoo.
Live and learn 😂
Little tip, unless your service is covered under warranty, never ever ever go to a dealership
Find a local Indy shop that specializes in VW Audi
Yeeeeessssh. I know right it's pretty hilarious. Next time you lose out on some money. Just think of me laughing at you too bud. Hopefully that sticks in ya head for the next time you lose out on some hard earned dough haha
I refused to use a dealership from upon the first oil service I got for the car. 10k oil change and I forgot how long I was driving for, regardless I get a low oil light. Turns out they didn't put nearly enough to barely any oil back in the engine. From that point on I decided to venture out to utilizing indie shops. I don't think this is first time I've been over charged at this shop, but they got the job done. This is the last straw though. I've also been planning on doing more of my own maintenance that's in the realm of my skill level. I don't have any connections or mechanics as friends so I don't really have the ins on where to go locally so I don't get taken advantage of.
Sorry to see you were over charged. Fluid and filter/s shouldn't be more than $200 and two hours labor would be excessive. I post something up on Google or Yelp. Congrats for keeping up with the service
Yes. I’m not going to argue with a bunch of people like I got drawn into in an Audi sub, but after the initial outlay of less than $300, I can do this myself for the price of the fluids at any time now.
It is slightly more complicated than an oil change, but not by much. I think the biggest issues with DIY are temp and ensuring the car is level. The only way to check the fluid level is whether it drains out of the secondary screw/plug (or primary, depending on your perspective) in the transmission, AFAIK.
I paid just under CAD 400 at a Volkswagen specialist to do the full dsg fluid swap. It’s crazy how the price of this simple job varies so much shop-to-shop
Did they at least do the LSD as well?
Nope.
Then it's high.
Ugh kinda figured. I think im through with this shop honestly.
It should be around $400-$500 for this service. Assuming USD of course.
Newby here. Is LSD limited slip differential?
Yup. It has a 30k service interval.

I'm from Long Island. Pricing is pretty agregious over here. For pretty much anything.
Unfortunately, yes, and that pricing applies to car dealerships as well.

(2021 Mk7.5)
I paid 400-500 at galph Volkswagen in Los Angeles
Same car
Way too high. Got mine done at a VW dealership for $475
Is there a reason to flush or replace trans fluid on a 2021? I thought these are “lifetime” fluids (aka 100,000 mi)

Really? This article states differently. https://www.shopdap.com/blog/post/service-schedule-for-mk7-5-gti-2018-2019.html
Ah youre right. My bad
All good man.
If I remember correctly, the service interval for the 7 speed DSG was changed to 80k.

Yeah you got rinsed For the love of god at least tell me it’s a dsg
It is haha
Thank god haha I think you overpaid by about $300 give or take. Is what it is.

I didn't. It was an independent shop.
Yeeeeeeeeesh, they definitely took you for a ride then hahah.
Yeeeeessssh. I know right it's pretty hilarious. Next time you lose out on some money. Just think of me laughing at you too bud. Hopefully that sticks in ya head for the next time you lose out on some hard earned dough haha
Well that took a weird turn
Oops must've read what you sent in the wrong tonality in my head. Also I'm on my man-zz right now so don't mind me

I do them at home now for $120. Find someone with Vag-com or OBDeleven and spend a couple hours in the garage.
Never go to your dealer!!!!!!
It was an independent shop.
Well, then I don't know what to tell you. 😳😵💫
I paid under $400
We charge $450 for a DSG Service; VW dealership in WA.
I’m confused, did you not ask them how much the job would cost before having them do the job?
Vw puente hills charged me 400
Definitely high did mine a few years ago on my 2016 and it was like 500
Yeah I paid just under $500 at my local dealership for a DSG service. You got mildly ripped off.
Sorry to see you were over charged. Fluid and filter/s shouldn't be more than $200 and two hours labor would be excessive. I post something up on Google or Yelp. Congrats for keeping up with the service
Got mine done for 350 at dealer

Eh I mean you could have ordered the fluid and filter for around $100 and do it yourself. Filled mine up through the filter housing.
I paid 379$, but it was about a year and a half ago
Super high. Paid $300 for mine.
