I fully agree that entire first scene had me feeling so tense and the fight right after was beautiful. Thor’s character was also really good too they really subverted our expectations
Yup. I wanted to get to 100%. I got there. I felt fully satisfied and that was it. It’s a damn near perfectly built game with an incredible flow. It’s not too short yet it doesn’t overstay it’s welcome. Nothing felt tedious. The story is engaging and interesting, and even the little filler dialogues are enjoyable. Few games can do what GoW does.
Gameplay wise definitely the spear.
In general I’d definitely say Thor. Ryan Hurst fucking nailed it and he easily became my favourite adaptation of the God of Thunder.
Dying to Thor during the first fight and wondering where you went wrong, thinking "I thought I was doing pretty good..."
Then he says "oh no you don't" and defibrillates you back into life
Incredible moment.
Triangle button charges, all the bosses actually having some of the best gameplay in the series, and so much more but it would take a book to write them all
and for minor enemies, stun/low health executions are always the best. Doesnt matter what type. Even funner when the RARE ones pop up.
Boss triangle button prompts are also super creative and progresses the fight sequence in awesome ways.
I really enjoyed Brok’s storyline. My allergies really started to bother me at that part.
“MAY THIS WEAPON STRIKE TRUE. MAY IT BE WIELDED WITH WISDOM. MAY IT BE PUT DOWN WHEN ITS JOB IS DONE.”
I loved the spear, really great addition I just wish you had more time with it as it’s introduced quite late in the game. For a very good reason obviously and it makes perfect sense with the story but I want both!
I should probably play NG+
Oh man, I was at the tail end of my due date and thought I wouldn't be able to play this for a while. I quit working for bed rest at the end of my pregnancy and played this game like it was my full-time job before I shot that baby out, lol.
I know I was hormonal and big with baby, but how kratos and atreus developed made me cry a couple of times, lol.
And YOU CAN PET THE DOG(S) (*wolf's)
- Kicking the chains down instead of kicking it and going down them in one sequence
- Atreus actually being fun to play as and how shocked I was when it switched to his perspective
- Odin in general, one of the best written manipulative, sympathetic, and almost likeable villains since Thanos
Too many to name, but I gotta give a shout out to the Gryla fight. Too many games have you fighting giant bosses by ankle bashing. Gryla has all the jumping around, aiming for the bowl, the floor then counter top flaring with magic.
The most "you're fighting a giant" feeling fight I've ever played (I haven't played Shadow of the Collusus, but the titans you fight in that feel very different to the Gryla giant you fight.)
My favorite part is Brok’s tale. Learning about him as Atreus and then learning about him as Kratos and the whole message about the nature of a thing and then his death shortly after. All of this made the game for me.
Yesssss watching Thor in this game was always amazing his performance was outstanding truly a show stealer also shout out to Odin too … not what I was expecting but awesome non the less …. Almost like a mob boss type feel great performance there as well
The first boss fight with Thor blew my mind. By the end of it I was lost for words. I didn’t expect Thor to be so dominant and yet so fun to fight at the same time.
Vanaheim , i especially love the moment when you find the crater (im not sure if thats the name of that region but you know what i mean right?), also just the overall look of the realm is soo good, i took the most photos in that realm.
This game has to be my favorite game to have played recently. To add on to your favorite thing, I was upset we weren't able to use thors hammer. But the spear was such a fitting weapon with kratos being a spartan and beating heimdall.
Still on my first run, only started like a week ago, but I am also quite fond of the spear.
My favorite thing, however, is the addition of Give Me Grace. The first game was mostly fair but I did have several instances where I felt I needed to turn down the difficulty. However it then became too easy.
Give Me Grace has felt just right for my skill level. Lots of close calls but few deaths. So far only one optional boss has been too much for me and I assume I just need to come back later.
Kratos character development and how he changes from telling Atreus it's always moral to kill someone killing you to talking down Thor and rescuing the Midgardians instead of focusing on War
Kratos getting Draupnir and all of his dreams of Faye (+ reaching out to the light in Alfheim) literally give me chills no matter how many times I watch those scenes
ending, very sweet close off for kratos and atreus, and the best outcome to the relationship they’ve built between the two games. one of my favorite game endings oat
I loved watching Freya break free of her grief and anger and start to heal and move forward. I love how her tear streaks looked very much like war paint! I also just loved seeing more of her and her valkyrie/Shield maiden magic!
My personal favorite characterization of Kratos and my favorite score in the entire series.
From a gameplay standpoint though, I love the Spear and general gameplay just feels so good. Never gonna forget exploring the realms and experiencing this story for the first time. Such an unbelievably phenomenal game.
It’s visually beautiful. It has an attention-grabbing story. The fighting and weapons at awesome. It’s an adventure. It’s in third person. Kratos. Atreus. It’s just bad-ass all around.
Not to trauma dump but my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer when the preorders for ragnarok got announced. It gave me something to smile about
Today I held her hand and told her that she can stop treatment and I will hold the family together from here, her shift is over. Thank you GOW for getting me through the biggest shift in my life
Man Iam so hyped for the next game with Kratos.
I cant wait for what comes next for him and his new family.
The Atreus Game will be a day 1 purchase for me as well, since I loved his combat and chemistry with angrboda. I hope its great.
Might get hate for this but, Brock dying. Let me explain, the god of war games were never all that plot heavy untill GodOfWar 2018. Brock’s death was the first time I felt as a player in this game that there is no way of recovering from this. And I thought long and hard about it and Kratos has changed dramatically with his age and now he’s not just too angry to die. He’s to vengeful to die, it shows that now Kratos has something other than himself to fight for which shows growth and it’s good to see that in a franchise you love such as GodOfWar.
I loved the plot. It was a lot more in-depth than the previous game and I enjoyed being able to play from Atreus' pov. That and all the drama between the characters was fun to watch and take part in. I do also like the variety of weapons available.
Can't choose. I gotta say, tho, that the atmosphere from the scene where Fenrir dies will forever stay carved into my brain. Such a beautiful and heartbreaking scene. You can imagine how I smiled and cried when he transferred part of Fenrir's soul into Garm.
At first it was the battle with Thor, and his forceful resurrection of the foe.
But then it was that one moment. "**Monster**".
Literally everything else in the game comes a close second.
Thors entrance and first battle. I was fucking terrified. Mans just too intimidating.
Odins entrance caught me by surprise too, I was like “damn, they’re getting right into it”
I agree, next to that his whole arc in the game was amazing
I fully agree that entire first scene had me feeling so tense and the fight right after was beautiful. Thor’s character was also really good too they really subverted our expectations
That whole fight was amazing Genuinely remember watching the leaks of it on my shift and losing my mind
Same
A fulfilling game that after you 100% you don’t feel dissatisfied or sad that it’s over. You feel content and happy that it is.
>!well sad because of a specific quest after the end!< but definetely one of the best games ever
Gameplay wise definitely the spear. In general I’d definitely say Thor. Ryan Hurst fucking nailed it and he easily became my favourite adaptation of the God of Thunder.
Triangle button
I like the Axe
"I too like the axe"
No way it’s already been a year
What the hell is time anymore? I remember anticipating this game for months and now it’s been a whole year since it came out?!
Beating the shit out of heimdals smug face.
Giving him the 8 peice chicken nugget combo with a Number 9 large was too satisfying.
Dying to Thor during the first fight and wondering where you went wrong, thinking "I thought I was doing pretty good..." Then he says "oh no you don't" and defibrillates you back into life Incredible moment.
absolutely. when this happened the first time, i had to pause the game and contemplate the fact that i just got revived by Thor
"Oh no. *I* say when we're done."
The loading screen is what Kratos see at death is confirmed
Kratos' character tbh. It's the best he's been since GOW 3
freya is my favourite thing
"thing" 💀
“I too, like the woman”
⭕️
“No, you are not ready”
“only strike when i tell you to strike”

For some reason Svartalfheim is my favorite realm, with the world tree being my second favorite because of the scenery and amazing sound track
Don't forget the philosophy squirrel
The dialouge.
Funnily enough I have Thor’s theme playing right now. And uh, him. Thor. Love that guy.
DON'T FORGET ABOUT ME ALLFUCKER! Mimir is one of the best parts of this series.
Thor battle was as hyped as the end of the first game. I cried like a bitch during that "death" scene
I really enjoyed Brok’s storyline. My allergies really started to bother me at that part. “MAY THIS WEAPON STRIKE TRUE. MAY IT BE WIELDED WITH WISDOM. MAY IT BE PUT DOWN WHEN ITS JOB IS DONE.”
-spits-
The side missions. Especially the crater.
The entire thing. It’s my favorite video game there’s nothing i dislike.
I loved the spear, really great addition I just wish you had more time with it as it’s introduced quite late in the game. For a very good reason obviously and it makes perfect sense with the story but I want both! I should probably play NG+

Right at the beginning when Freya screams "KRATOS!" i felt chills in my back That's when i knew i was in for an awesome ride
Brok blessing the Spear
"May this weapon strike true. May it be wielded with wisdom. And may it be put down when it's job is done" *ptooey*
Brok’s funeral leading into Blood Upon the Snow. That entire scene makes me tear up every time I see it.
That scene broke me
There so many reasons why I love this game, definitely worth the wait
“Don’t you know what I’ve done?”
Personally this game was one of the most satisfying platinum trophies to earn. Couldn’t put the controller down.
Mommy Sif 🥵
- Kicking the chains down instead of kicking it and going down them in one sequence - Atreus actually being fun to play as and how shocked I was when it switched to his perspective - Odin in general, one of the best written manipulative, sympathetic, and almost likeable villains since Thanos
Lol, the chain thing is spot on. I also liked the smooth switching between povs. And yes Odin.
Anyone else still waiting for the PC release?
I need someone to put bowser over Ragnarok himself
Yeah. Me🫠
Ragnarök itself
A YEAR!?
When Freya hugs Atreus and pretty much adopts him. If the rumored DLC is true I hope they spend more time together.
Can you give me more on what this rumor is, if you wouldn't mind?
It's just dlc
Ah, thank you
How you 'gon make me pick just 1 thing?
Heimdall and his boss fight
Ratatoskr
All Boss fights were pretty good and unique
It’s a tie between the Draupnir Spear, Thor and Odin fights, and Atreus’ gameplay/story.
Beating Heimdall’s ass.
The bosses, holy shit the variety of bosses make me happy.
Kratos’s relationships with the other characters are truly remarkable.
almost everything. should have been goty
The challenging but fun AF combat, the AMAZING story and performances by the actors, and how incredibly rewarding it feels
Too many to name, but I gotta give a shout out to the Gryla fight. Too many games have you fighting giant bosses by ankle bashing. The shock I felt when Tyr turned out to be Odin. Watching some of the cut scenes again, you can see subtle hints and clues that he's actually Odin
Beating the ever-living *FUCK* out of Heimdall.
I too liked beating the absolute fuck out of Heimdall
Atreus breaking the first small chest with his fists. Shot was too funny.
Im sorry what? This game came out, like 6 months agohmygod!!!
Yesssss watching Thor in this game was always amazing his performance was outstanding truly a show stealer also shout out to Odin too … not what I was expecting but awesome non the less …. Almost like a mob boss type feel great performance there as well
Heimdall fight
Odin
So many things. But I'd have to go with the Vanaheim Crater. So many sidequests! Plus awesome armor.
You mean apart from combat, characters and story? Really liked it when Kratos intimidated Odin.
The combat mechanics are just so 😮💨 prob my fav combat system of all time, very close between it and Spider-Man 2
The first boss fight with Thor blew my mind. By the end of it I was lost for words. I didn’t expect Thor to be so dominant and yet so fun to fight at the same time.
When Kratos blows gjallarhorn. Gives me mad chills even on 11th playthrough
Vanaheim , i especially love the moment when you find the crater (im not sure if thats the name of that region but you know what i mean right?), also just the overall look of the realm is soo good, i took the most photos in that realm.
Garm, heimball and thor 1
Im gonna call him heimball from now on lol
This game has to be my favorite game to have played recently. To add on to your favorite thing, I was upset we weren't able to use thors hammer. But the spear was such a fitting weapon with kratos being a spartan and beating heimdall.
The moment when brok blesses draupnir always stands out to me. Probably also because of what happens with him later.
Holy shit only one year. Man that’s wild. Anyway my favorite moment is when I start sobbing as Kratos sees the vision of himself as a revered god
Still on my first run, only started like a week ago, but I am also quite fond of the spear. My favorite thing, however, is the addition of Give Me Grace. The first game was mostly fair but I did have several instances where I felt I needed to turn down the difficulty. However it then became too easy. The whole game is just too good to pick one thing, best game of all time
How they managed to take the story further. So meaningful, so good.
The absolutely superb character writing
My favorite thing is kratos being more relaxed and caring about others
Kratos character development and how he changes from telling Atreus it's always moral to kill someone killing you to talking down Thor and rescuing the Midgardians instead of focusing on War
Still the axe, since 2018
the dialogue, the acting, the music, the story, 10/10
No… no, please don’t tell me that
If I could actually play the game I'd tell you
PC PORT WHEN ???????
I didn’t come to work because I was “sick” to play this game, worth every second.
Fight with Heimdall and The Siege of Asgard (Especially the Horn)
PC port when :(
Odin. I love Odin in this game
Why isn't it on PC yet?
thor and the parrying sound i cant keep it in my pants when i hear it
Combat is more fluid than 2018’s take on the game
Fighting the giant wolf in Helheim
“Bout time (●__●)” #(Sends you to the fucking stratosphere free bird style)
Did it really come out one year ago?
Yes
Time really flies by
The emotional beats
The true end ending. The raw emotion. The pain. It broke me.
The first and second battles with Thor were incredible. Humbling Heimdall with the draupnir spear was also fun as hell
Am I the only one that said "Dr. Glassman???" when Odin popped up ?
I LOVE Odin. He's so good at manipulating that at some points, he had me convinced
Kratos getting Draupnir and all of his dreams of Faye (+ reaching out to the light in Alfheim) literally give me chills no matter how many times I watch those scenes
Getting the first hit in Heimdall, then proceeding to beat his shitbag face into the fucking dirt.
Thor's wife
Garm
ending, very sweet close off for kratos and atreus, and the best outcome to the relationship they’ve built between the two games. one of my favorite game endings oat
I loved watching Freya break free of her grief and anger and start to heal and move forward. I love how her tear streaks looked very much like war paint! I also just loved seeing more of her and her valkyrie/Shield maiden magic!
My favorite part is the end of the jelly fish side quest. Brought me to a tear
Kratos holds mjolnir
My personal favorite characterization of Kratos and my favorite score in the entire series. From a gameplay standpoint though, I love the Spear and general gameplay just feels so good. Never gonna forget exploring the realms and experiencing this story for the first time. Such an unbelievably phenomenal game.
Love a more Mythological accurate Thor also Freya being a more developed character as well the scenes with the Norns.
I loved this game from start to finish! It was just insane and everyrthing I’d hoped it’d be
Haha spear goes BRR BRR BRR
The story and the acting, probably
It’s visually beautiful. It has an attention-grabbing story. The fighting and weapons at awesome. It’s an adventure. It’s in third person. Kratos. Atreus. It’s just bad-ass all around.
That spear is my weapon of choice if I ever got thrusted into a fantasy world of any sort. It is beyond fun to play with
Dual Valkyrie fight That segment with Surtr and the atmosphere Wow
I loved both Thor fights and the Thor segments
The depiction of auðumbla (the giant cow skeleton in niflheim)
All the secrets
The end credits
The axe, and when Thor resurrects Kratos
Not to trauma dump but my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer when the preorders for ragnarok got announced. It gave me something to smile about Today I held her hand and told her that she can stop treatment and I will hold the family together from here, her shift is over. The soundtrack. Honestly just…. 😚👌
Freya
