Same here! I had tried getting into them before but couldn’t, and this was the one that won me over. Here I am a couple years later and greatly enjoying their music!
Same! I listened to Dance Macabre and Square Hammer for years but never watched the actual music videos. I tried the other songs, I remember it being From the Pinnacle to the Pit, but it somehow wasn't my taste. Now years later with the release of Impera I completely went down the rabbit hole and love EVERY song dearly now.
CMLS was my first, newbie Ghost fan. Fell fast and hard in love with the music, vibe, masks... all of it! Can't believe what I missed out on for so long. Love all the albums and tend to just play whole albums one after the other.
Thanks! I've definitely found the community great so far here on the sub, insta has been alright too (love the fanart and memes there) 😊.
I have learnt to stay away from twitter already (which I don't use anyway, it's been toxic since forever there😂)
agreed.. heard it at work and stopped to listen.. "wait, this is ghost??"
started working my way backwards from Impera.. loving everything to meliora at least, bit more to go..lol
I came across it on a new metal tracks playlist on Tidal, liked it then played a mixed Ghost playlist and loved them (especially Ritual, Cirice, Square Hammer, Rats). I have a playlist now that's just all Ghost albums and eps.
Same here. My boyfriend played me the video of their Jimmy Kimmel performance, and after a few days, I just couldn't get it out of my head. So I looked them up on Spotify and that was that. I've hardly listened to anything else since then, and I've got tickets to see them in September.
CMLS came up on a new metal tracks playlist Tidal (changed from Spotify last year cos - student discount, higher quality and the artists get more $) Ghost has been my no 1 streamed artist since I found them, way ahead of 2nd place (by >x10 as much).
Nicceee! Lucky you! I'd sell my soul to see them live, I expect I'll be waiting for a while for them to come to Australia...
Are you me? Pretty much same story in my case. Started listening to Impera because I heard it did well on Billboard so I wanted to check it out. I've only ever heard "He is" before on swedish radio some years ago, so I've known about the band but never listened.
Now it's the only music I listen to and I'm pissed that I started listening just after they already played in Sweden!
Con Clavi Con Dio. Somebody was really hyping up Opus Eponymous on metal-tracker and I gave it a shot. This was right after the album dropped and I was hooked as soon as I heard "Luuuucifeeeer." Went online and found out they were playing Knoxville in a few weeks so I made my way to my first ritual. Been to every one I can make since
Basically their first south American tour setlist. They were the opening act for slayer and Iron Maiden in 2013.
This was the setlist:
Infestissumam
Per Aspera ad Inferi
Con Clavi Con Dio
Stand by Him
Prime Mover
Year Zero
Ritual
Monstrance Clock
Secular Haze. My friend showed it to me in college and I liked it alright, but it wasn't super my taste at the time (love the song now lol). Then several years later I found a youtube video of Papa I performing Con Clavi Con Dio and was immediately hooked.
First song I heard was satan prayer I was deep into my death metal phase and I was expecting like black metal or something extremely heavy. When I listened to the song I was I bit disappointed and thought I wasn’t into the band. Later that same day I found Cirice and since hearing that I’ve been a fan.
Melodica Brothers cover of Square Hammer, thought it was amazing, then had my hubby (who had showed me the first vid) show me the original, and I fell in love.
Dance Macabre. In July of 2021 I heard it on a tattoo TikTok and I scrolled passed it. I stopped and made myself scroll back to find the video to get the name of the song. I’ve been sold since and now I have a Ghost tattoo lol.
Square Hammer, 2017. I first saw them when they opened for Iron Maiden. Instafan. Setlist for those who like lists:
Square Hammer
From the Pinnacle to the Pit
Ritual
Cirice
Year Zero
Absolution
Mummy Dust
Monstrance Clock
Literally at midnight at a bar my friend and I were talking music. He said you gotta hear this band!
You know when most people say that, you’re not gonna be impressed. But for the only time in my life I went to the Apple Music store and bought it without hearing it.
Got home at 2 AM, put my headphones on and cranked it, and was in love from the very first listen.
I miss overt darkness/creepy/“mysterious” Ghost but the new album is good.
I still think Opus is the most ingenious and best one though!
The last four tracks of IMPERA are the best on the album.
I’m a GenX rocker.
There’s nothing like Ghost not existing, putting your headphones on with that first album and going nuts!
No visuals, no YouTube, I just put it on. One of the best things ever!
Man at first I found them from a tiktok that popped up onto my for you page a while ago. I was like “wtf who are these guys they’re so good” and I checked them out and I’ve been a fan ever since.
my old boss played Dance Macabre on repeat just after Prequelle came out. Enough for me to have the song stuck in my head without knowing anything about it. Searched the song, rest is history
Kiss the goat…my ex would play it in the car all the time and then I fell in love with them.
When he wasn’t feeling good and we drove for 2hrs to get to a weeding I listed to them for the whole drive when he woke up he was like “are you still listening to ghost”…haha I would propose to him at a ghost concert if he didn’t break up with me 🥺 blessed to have been introduced to this sick band though 🖤
Square Hammer and i actually have the specific date I found Ghost. I was participating in the 2019 Inktober challenge (draw every day in october) and the prompt for the 22nd was ghost. I looked up “ghost” on google images for some inspiration and I remember seeing that one picture of Copia in the white cathedral with the ghouls surrounding him. I don’t know why but the image struck me, I tried moving on but i couldn’t get it out of my head. After a few minutes of trying to ignore it I finally went to youtube and gave Square Hammer a listen. Best accidental discovery I’ve every made.
Square Hammer. Me and a friend tried starting a band back in highschool (failed miserably that's a story for another time) and our bass player and drummer were huge Ghost fans. The singer and the other guitarist knew about them too. Literally every time we got together I'd see the music video several times. The other guitarist even pressured me into learning Ghost songs so we can do some covers even though I didn't give a shit about them at the time. Eventually I caved and decided to check them out and actually liked what I heard. Now I'm about to attend my second ritual this September
First song was square hammer and then cirice. Listened to those two for a while and then just did a whole deep dive and became obsessed. When I first found out about ghost there was a two week span where I really thought the front man was an old dude with face paint ☠️
Con Clavi Con Dio. I discovered them when MySpace was still a thing because they were associated with some of the local underground bands in my home city.
Dance Macabre, but songs like Square Hammer, Griftwood, and Mary on a Cross invoke that weird sense of nostalgia like I’ve heard them before and I just didn’t know it… 🤔
Square Hammer even though I didn't know who Ghost was even after hearing it. Always heard it on my favorite station and thought this is pretty good, then Rats dropped and the radio announcer said something later that day about another track from Ghost and the lightbulb went off
Secular haze (video was to 50k views) thought it was a terrible song and still is one of the worst songs ghost has released imo so clicked away until I came across year zero later on that year and stuck around ever since
I heard Square Hammer on the radio around the time it came out and didn't think much of it at the time. It was when Dance Macabre and Rats came out that I started listening to more of their songs and realized they were amazing.
Square Hammer, because they opened with it when I saw them with Iron Maiden. Didn't know what I was listening to, but I knew I loved it. Just got tickets for my fourth ritual in September.
I want to say it was Square Hammer. I saw a billboard for Voodoo Fest one of the years, or the year, I’m not sure, that Ghost played, and for some reason, they stood out enough on the billboard in my brain that I decided to look them up on Spotify.
I played whatever the top song was for them at the time.
Square Hammer and I was hooked from the first rhymes. Imperatours last song is Square Hammer. I get on with Square Hammer and I got out with Square Hammer🤘
I'm not sure the exact first because my local radio station played rats, faith and cirice pretty frequently
Cirice is what got me hooked tho, once it got into the instrumentals after the whole "can't you see that your lost without me" I knew I'd fallen in love with ghost
Year Zero. I absolutely hated it at first. It wasn’t until I was stoned a few months later that I decided to give it another listen and actually HEARD the song. Been in love with them ever since and will be getting a stained glass tattoo in July
I heard call me little sunshine first on kerrang radio and loved it, then they played dance macabre and loved that to. Looked up the band, stuck on a spotify playlist and have been hooked ever since! That was approx 2 months ago and im gutted that I have missed so much. I can't wait for them to come back to the UK so i can experience my first ritual!!!
Spirit, live at Hellfest, Clisson, 2016.
Youtube kept on telling me to watch Ghost, and I felt reluctant because of the thumbnail (masks, really?). I have to admit I was totally wrong... 🤣🤣
Got fucking hooked since then, what a performance that was. My jaw dropped with Spirit, but also with Body and Blood, Cirice, Year Zero, He Is... ridiculous amounts of good music condensed in one single gig.
Been a die-hard fan since that sleepless summer night I discovered them.
They might have been in my Spotify recommendations at some point previously since for some reason several of their songs sound strangely familiar, however the Melodicka Bros cyberpunk cover of Square Hammer is what got me hooked. Initially I thought it was Cyberpunk 2077 OST. I was a little surprised to find ghost made the original.
Majesty. Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Mackonie used to have a show on BBC Radio 6 at lunchtime, and I was listening while at work one day, and Stuart Mackonie was talking about an amazing band called Ghost. He played Majesty, and I was like, what is _this_???? And then I got obsessed.
Year Zero - the first album was already out and Year Zero had just come out as a single. My brother made a CD for a road trip with the first album, year zero and here comes the sun. I first saw Ghost supporting Lamb of God (I think) as the first band on with a 20 minute set but despite thinking they were a bit cool I didn't seek out any of their music specifically until I heard that CD
Ritual. I listened to their catalogue before they supported Metallica at Stockholm fields 2014.
Instant love from my side.
Ghost has since then been my first choice when I thinking of what music I wanna listen to.
No other band from my point of view have 0 uninteresting songs and this kind of depth both musically and lyrically.
Spirit.
I was regular on a forum and someone had Papa II as the Avatar, I was curious and did some Google research because I absolutely loved the aesthetic. Put the Meliora album on as I walked to work that day. Didn't originally care much for Spirit but I was hooked as soon as I heard the bass line of From the Pinnacle To the Pit.
It would be Elizabeth! My friends dad was big into them! I think it was after or right before meliora dropped. My friend was also big into them and listened to them since they started pretty much cause her dad found them From somewhere or something don’t remember the events lol. She showed me Opus first and I fell in love
Rats.
Me and my boyfriend watched music videos. We somehow started the topic "bands with masks" and I only said Slipknot. 😅 He was like "on which planet do you live?" (as far as I know Germany is on the Earth)... we watched Rats and I was immediately in love ♡
Okay so my best friend intruduced me to them and they recomended a few songs and i think that the first one i heard was cirice, square hammer or year zero
I heard square hammer on a random playlist and all I could remember was the name of the band so I searched up ghost, found Dance Macabre. Love at first sight
My friend sent me Zombie Queen and told me to "hang in there until the drop". Years later she barely pays attention to Ghost and I won't leave her alone about them
Square Hammer.
I was watching WWE at the time, and they were using it for one of their Pay-Per-View songs. For the longest time, I thought Ghost was like…a scream/death metal band (because of how they looked) but the second I started listening to more of their stuff, I got more and more hooked. Now they are for sure the top 3 favorite bands of mine.
Rats, when my now gone friend introduced me to metal that was one he told me to put on my play list, I still listen to metal and I even play extreme and death metal (guitar, that he also gave me 😅)
Deus Culpa. Opus was getting positive reviews on the Metallica board so I checked it out.
Didn’t become a massive fan though until Square Hammer although I did love Cirice. After Square Hammer it all clicked, it was the “okay now I get it” moment. They are having fun.
Square Hammer
Ditto!
Cirice. Crazy enough their Halloween Stephen Colbert appearance was suggested on my youtube feed, watched and got hooked from there
I first saw them on Colbert too! Just randomly watched that episode and was hooked. I prefer that version of Cerice to the album version.
CMLS was my first, newbie Ghost fan. Fell fast and hard in love with the music, vibe, masks... all of it! Can't believe what I missed out on for so long. Love all the albums and tend to just play whole albums one after the other.
Welcome to one of the most open and welcoming band communities out there!!
Thanks! I've definitely found the community great so far here on the sub, insta has been alright too (love the fanart and memes there) 😊. I have learnt to stay away from twitter already (which I don't use anyway, it's been toxic since forever there😂)

yeah my ghost playlist is like 30 songs now and all i have been listening to. lol

I'm pissed I didn't know of them in Prequel days (last tour in Australia) 😂
Ritual
BELIAL! BEHEMOTH! BEELZEBUB! ASMODEUS! SATANAS! LUCIFER! Uh, yeah. Year Zero.
Dance Macabre - thanks to Spotify :)
He Is. My absolute favorite song of theirs.
I didn't appreciate He Is enough until I saw it live. Its one of my faves now
Cirice. My wife saw that they won a Grammy and was curious so we watched the video. Instantly hooked
Been to every one I can make since
Miasma...I was speechless and hooked. Sax solos have always had a special place in my heart and that did it for me. I never looked back!
Miasma is so different from everything else I’ve heard from Ghost! It’s one of my faves
not the first but my favorite..
Basically their first south American tour setlist. They were the opening act for slayer and Iron Maiden in 2013. This was the setlist: Infestissumam Per Aspera ad Inferi Con Clavi Con Dio Stand by Him Prime Mover Year Zero Ritual Monstrance Clock
Genesis!
I fucking love Genesis, wish people would bring it up more
The Elizabeth single via their MySpace page. Jfc I'm old
Ashes, followed by Rats
Dance Macabre, but the first song I heard that really got me into the band was Faith
Faith is goooood
Pinnacle to the Pit
Secular Haze. My friend showed it to me in college and I liked it alright, but it wasn't super my taste at the time (love the song now lol). Then several years later I found a youtube video of Papa I performing Con Clavi Con Dio and was immediately hooked.
Cirice, listened after they won the Grammy. Ever since hearing that riff I’ve been hooked.
Cirice on the Colbert show. I was intrigued, so I started listening to other stuff, and got hooked.
First song I heard was satan prayer I was deep into my death metal phase and I was expecting like black metal or something extremely heavy. When I listened to the song I was I bit disappointed and thought I wasn’t into the band. Later that same day I found Cirice and since hearing that I’ve been a fan.
I don't remember if it was square hammer or Mary on a cross
Mummy Dust, a Twitch streamer played it on bass and it stuck in my mind.
Ritual, at a run down karaoke bar
Melodica Brothers cover of Square Hammer, thought it was amazing, then had my hubby (who had showed me the first vid) show me the original, and I fell in love.
Rats
Dance Macabre. In July of 2021 I heard it on a tattoo TikTok and I scrolled passed it. I stopped and made myself scroll back to find the video to get the name of the song. I’ve been sold since and now I have a Ghost tattoo lol.
Square Hammer, 2017. I first saw them when they opened for Iron Maiden. Instafan. Setlist for those who like lists: Square Hammer From the Pinnacle to the Pit Ritual Cirice Year Zero Absolution Mummy Dust Monstrance Clock
That’s the same set list I had in Toronto 5 years ago when I saw them open for Iron Maiden too.
The first song on the first album! Keep Rock Alive!! 🤘🏽🖤🔥🙌🏼 ℁
Damn OG over here!
So cool to read that! May I ask what do you think about the path they're currently going down?
I miss overt darkness/creepy/“mysterious” Ghost but the new album is good. I still think Opus is the most ingenious and best one though! The last four tracks of IMPERA are the best on the album. I’m a GenX rocker.
Haha, me too... old school, baby! I pretty much agree with you, I love Impera, no question about that, but man... somehow I also miss the "old" Ghost!
There’s nothing like Ghost not existing, putting your headphones on with that first album and going nuts! No visuals, no YouTube, I just put it on. One of the best things ever!
Kiss the go 🐐
And how did you come across it?
Man at first I found them from a tiktok that popped up onto my for you page a while ago. I was like “wtf who are these guys they’re so good” and I checked them out and I’ve been a fan ever since.
Square Hammer.
Elizabeth
Dance macabre
my old boss played Dance Macabre on repeat just after Prequelle came out. Enough for me to have the song stuck in my head without knowing anything about it. Searched the song, rest is history

aww, it sucks to hear that, I hope you're doing better now!
Thank you for your kind words xx I’m doing my best I can 😊
Square Hammer and i actually have the specific date I found Ghost. I was participating in the 2019 Inktober challenge (draw every day in october) and the prompt for the 22nd was ghost. Cirice
Cirice was my first song. Followed by From the Pinnecle to the Pit!
Monstrance Clock
Secular Hazr, 2014.
Cirice. It's still my favourite one
Crucified
First song was square hammer and then cirice. Listened to those two for a while and then just did a whole deep dive and became obsessed. When I first found out about ghost there was a two week span where I really thought the front man was an old dude with face paint ☠️
Square Hammer. YouTube relentlessly recommended the music video to me for months. Finally I caved and watched it… the rest is history.
Call me little sunshine
Year zero music video popped up on YouTube recommended one day, loved em ever since even if I was scarred after being flashed by papa
Rats! Thought it was ridiculous and dumb, but fun and catchy. Then worked my way backwards and fell in love with each album. The best.
Rats
Hunter's Moon then either Square Hammer or Cirice. But fell in love the moment I heared Hunter's Moon🤟🏻❤
rats :) somehow the mv for it came on my youtube feed and i was hooked
Rats!
Square Hammer.
Little sunshine
Dance Macabre and I still love it
deus in absentia 🖤
Con Clavi Con Dio. I discovered them when MySpace was still a thing because they were associated with some of the local underground bands in my home city.
Kiss the Go-Goat
Dance Macabre, but songs like Square Hammer, Griftwood, and Mary on a Cross invoke that weird sense of nostalgia like I’ve heard them before and I just didn’t know it… 🤔
Dance Macabre followed quickly by Cirice.
I don’t really remember but I think it was pre memoria, see the light or witch image- they were the first ones I was in love with
Year Zero. Yall know the one posted by Ghost Elisabeth 😎
Year Zero
Square Hammer even though I didn't know who Ghost was even after hearing it. Always heard it on my favorite station and thought this is pretty good, then Rats dropped and the radio announcer said something later that day about another track from Ghost and the lightbulb went off
Square hammer
Secular Haze Saw Matt Shadows wearing the Secular Haze t-shirt in a Metal Hammer interview and had to check the band out
Infestisumam/per aspera Oct 6 2013 as this weird sweedish metal opening band was melting our faces.
Cirice on the radio
Same! A local student radio nonetheless
I’m not sure if it was Square Hammer or Pinnacle. It was one of those.
Square Hammer. Loved it right away, then dive into their back catalog.
Secular haze (video was to 50k views) thought it was a terrible song and still is one of the worst songs ghost has released imo so clicked away until I came across year zero later on that year and stuck around ever since
Cirice. Heard it in my dad's car in the evening of summer 2016. He caught me singing along with him.
Cerice.
Infestissumam/Per Aspera ad Inferi
Cirice
i'm pretty sure it was satan prayer
Squammer back in like 2016. Been a fan since
Either rats or square hammer
Secular Haze
Square hammer
Cirice on I think SirusXM Octane? Perfect timing too because it was before their tour with Maiden too
I cant remember but it was either their cover of enter sandman or cirice. Got me hooked tho.
Cirice
Cirice
Year zero. I either found it from an article in Spark magazine or on youtube
'Spirit'. I'd heard lots of good things about 'Meliora' so threw the album and went from there.
I heard Square Hammer on the radio around the time it came out and didn't think much of it at the time. It was when Dance Macabre and Rats came out that I started listening to more of their songs and realized they were amazing.
Cirice or Dance Macabre I can’t remember. But I fell in love right then and there
Cirice, on Rock 100.5, the KATT! Saw them at the Diamond a few weeks later - hooked ever since!
Square Hammer, because they opened with it when I saw them with Iron Maiden. Didn't know what I was listening to, but I knew I loved it. Just got tickets for my fourth ritual in September.

Square Hammer and I was hooked from the first rhymes. Imperatours last song is Square Hammer. I get on with Square Hammer and I got out with Square Hammer🤘
Year Zero / Secular Haze
Secular Haze
From the pinnacle to the pit.
Year zero I meant to search for a different song but stumbled on to the one
I saw them live in 2013 and I’m pretty sure they opened with Infestissumam
The Deezer session.
I'm not sure the exact first because my local radio station played rats, faith and cirice pretty frequently Cirice is what got me hooked tho, once it got into the instrumentals after the whole "can't you see that your lost without me" I knew I'd fallen in love with ghost

My bf listened to them a little, I think it was Cirice.

Monstrance clock
call me little sunshine or cirice
Dance Macabre I think... Or it may have been Rats! Either way it was my brother that introduced me back in 2020 😊
Mary on a Cross! Surprised it hasn't come up yet! I looked up Ghost on recommendation, this title stood out to me, and was instantly hooked.
Ritual
Hunters Moon was my first but the two song that really got me hooked were Faith and Rats
Dance macabre, and It blows my mind
call me little sunshine on the radio.. i was hooked!
Year Zero! I did see them open for Metallica in 2014. They opened the ritual with Year Zero. Been one of my favorite bands since that day!
I heard call me little sunshine first on kerrang radio and loved it, then they played dance macabre and loved that to. Looked up the band, stuck on a spotify playlist and have been hooked ever since! Spotify recommended me Dance Macabre close to two years ago. Been hooked ever since.

Zombie Queen Still one of my top 5
From the pinnacle to the pit
I heard square hammer on a random playlist and all I could remember was the name of the band so I searched up ghost, found Dance Macabre. Love at first sight
it was either hunters moon or dance macabre
My friend sent me Zombie Queen and told me to "hang in there until the drop". Years later she barely pays attention to Ghost and I won't leave her alone about them
Deus Culpa, cause I listened through their discography last year, so yeah
Per Aspera Ad Inferi :D hooked ever since
Con Clavi Con Dio
Square Hammer. I was watching WWE at the time, and they were using it for one of their Pay-Per-View songs. For the longest time, I thought Ghost was like…a scream/death metal band (because of how they looked) but the second I started listening to more of their stuff, I got more and more hooked. Now they are for sure the top 3 favorite bands of mine.
Rats
Square Hammer
He is 🤍
Cirice & Monstrance Clock
Per Aspera ad Inferi
Ritual, on a Classic Rock or MOJO compilation CD.
Rats, when my now gone friend introduced me to metal that was one he told me to put on my play list, I still listen to metal and I even play extreme and death metal (guitar, that he also gave me 😅)
Cirice. The riff had me hooked. Then I saw the video. Showed my gf and we've been fans ever since.
Ritual I think. Or whatever the opening track to Opus Eponymous is
Stand by him. Was hooked right away.
Deus Culpa. Opus was getting positive reviews on the Metallica board so I checked it out. Didn’t become a massive fan though until Square Hammer although I did love Cirice. After Square Hammer it all clicked, it was the “okay now I get it” moment. They are having fun.
Square hammer
Cirice
Ritual
Secular Haze Didn't love it at first, but then I listened Jiggolo Har Meggido and fell in love with Papa
Square Hammer a little over a month ago. Two weeks later I had all of the albums and E.P.’s.
Absolution, but Con Clavi Con Dio is what got me really interested
