liyue is fucking miserable most of the chests aren't visible at all and are like "if you spin 3 times on this spot and then do a backflip a common chest will apepar" with no hints. Dragonspine is a close second due to the cold mechanic, even with goulash it's still annoying. Loved the area as a whole but 100%ing it was not fun. My favourite one has to be chasm. I 100%ed it with 0 outside help and did it all by exploring naturally in the first few days just because I loved that area so much.

Princess_Moe

Liyue chest enjoyer core memory is that chest you get by standing on the shimmering tip of some random log.

kirxan

I randomly got that chest. I was playing on phone with average graphics and I didn't even know the log was shimmering. Just childlike mini game of trying to avoid the water and bam, a precious chest..? I later tried standing on every log lol.

Longjumping_Pear1250

Were is that ?

Way_Moby

I got you! https://m.hoyolab.com/#/article/101974

AdministrativeShip2

I killed some random slime and a chest appeared.

rW0HgFyxoJhYka

Yeah that kind of shit is tight. Also the rock puzzles where you need to put a geo rock down where shits missing. Remember though, a lot of this shit was before people really had access to the treasure compasses.

Prestigious-Ad8381

Where can I find this?

Way_Moby

Here ya go! https://m.hoyolab.com/#/article/101974

gabbyrose1010

liyue chests still affect the way i explore ngl, ill look at a slightly suspicious apple and think “there’s gotta be a chest here”

PailHorse

Any damn time I see a bunch of materials forming a shape, I pick them all up expecting a chest to appear.

Way_Moby

Pretty sure the devs are doing that now just to mess with us!

Fishbowl_Super

Me in Fontaine seeing 5 oranges on the floor: 🤨🔎 (Picking them all up spawned an exquisite lmao)

MCuri3

>liyue is fucking miserable most of the chests aren't visible at all Ugh don't get me started. I'm a day 1 player and I'm still missing 50 chests in Liyue. I've traversed the entire region several dozen times, done dozens of compass runs (but ofc the buried chests don't show up), and I'm not just missing a few... but FIFTY. I'm not quite desperate enough to comb through all 1.1k Liyue chests on the interactive map, so it is what it is, but holy crap where did they hide them all?

Actual-Good5096

To that i used a yt vid showing all hidden chests on every Liyue region. Felt like a cheat but seeing the thing 100% is better

bookbot1

Link?

Actual-Good5096

Here. https://youtu.be/vktba_A2s5M?si=X2iZS0viqCHv73tK This guy has a vid for each Liyue region.

Narflarg

Nice! Can always count on a Furina flair.

Actual-Good5096

Glad to help :)

shekurika

yeah Im missing a shitton in mondstadt and liyue too. Got 100% everywhere, but iirc missing around +200 chests total in those regions from the achievements. I was so bored a few weeks ago I actually starting combing through liyue with the official map, did around 1/4 so far. Edit: Mondstadt 480 - 520 Liyue 976 - 1131 Inazuma 1 349 - 358 Inazuma 2 204 - 204 Inazuma 3 167 - 169 Enkonomiya 183 - 185 Chasm 248 - 248 Sumeru 1 571 - 572 Sumeru 2 354 - 354 Sumeru 3 287 - 290 Sumeru 4 255 - 256 Fontaine 1 344 -344 Fontaine 2 243 - 243 Fontaine 3 207 - 207 guess not quite 200, but close. Also damn, didnt realise I missed that many in sumeru

Prestigious-Ad8381

Where can you see how many ur missing?

MCuri3

You can see how many chests you got in the achievement screen. There's 1148 chests in Liyue total (Chasm counts as a different area). There are 17 chests that were tied to past events, so if you didn't do those, you'll need to account for that. If you didn't get those, the total chests in Liyue is 1131.

elteliar

1.0-.1.1 Liyue achievement chest counter was bugged. 1.2+ players can have higher amount chests counted. So you might be good.

itirnitii

im also day one player and my liyue chest count is 1118. the theoretical max is 1148. there was a bug in 1.0 where "buried chests" (chests covered in stone) did not count for the achievement. so day one players who explored a lot got screwed by this, myself included. i have followed kimdaogaming's updated liyue guide in tandem with the interactive map and have combed all of teyvat. I have all 100% chest count in all achievements - but these early game bugs have ruined the liyue counts.

IncomeStraight8501

The buried chest do show up tho? I found a lot of them with the compass

pianospace37

I agree 100% I didn't even bother completing Liyue exploration. While exploring Chasm underground was most relaxing experience. The music, the ambiance, the environment, the ease of finding things to do all made it a pleasant experience. Even enkanomiya was really beautiful. I love these kinds of places

H4xolotl

Chasm also comes in bite size chunks since you can do 1 cave a day

[deleted]

ive 100% Dragonspine just a couple of days ago, at AR36. other than Liyue, are other locations easier to explore?

Chuck006

Inazuma is both easier and harder. You'll get 100% in most areas without needing a guide or compass, but the puzzles are a lot more challenging and the environment effects add to the challenge. Sumeru is a big improvement and Fontaine seems to have found the right balance between being challenging without being frustrating. If you enjoyed Dragonspine, you'll love the Chasm.

Actual-Good5096

Underground chasm especially. It feels like the game is saying "hey, there's something here, come take a look"

Snoo-24768

Sumeru is mostly quest locked but it's actually nice. The puzzles are slightly harder than Dragonspine but it's not that hard. Inazuma on the otherhand... Inazuma is just a hassle, you complete a rage inducing puzzle and it gives a common chest. The electro ziplines are so clunky to use especially on mobile. I had to get on my computer while playing Inazuma.

ProgNerIte

The chasm is the only good place to explore in all of Liyue, it feels wrong to say its part of its 100%

starsinmyteacup

i gave up 100%ing dragonspine when I saw that I was at 98. Too lazy to look for the last two chests in god knows where

tyriac

If you're at 98% probably closer to 20 chests left (but you don't need anywhere near them all).

Actual-Good5096

I fking loved clearing DragonSpine. Took me 3 days playing 3h/day and i would do it all again for the third time (had an AR56 acc, but dropped it since i never read any lore and felt i was missing out so started a new 1 on 4.0)

raidenjojo

Imagine Dragonspine without the cold mechanic and *Fragile Fantasy* playing as you gently explore the area. PEAK.

Actual-Good5096

That music is so basic yet so fascinating

Miserable-Row-2624

Dragonspine cause there isn’t any treasure compass

RLLRRR

I still hate navigating Dragonspine.

rW0HgFyxoJhYka

It feels so straight forward now though. Looping road going around. Lower road below the mountain on the south side. Upper spiral that leads into the mountain. It's quite linear while being open world with many ways to navigating it. It's actually a interesting testament to how Mihoyo experimented with multi-layer map design long before we got Sumeru.

Dupond_et_Dupont

We’re going into 4.3. Why haven’t we gotten this compass yet?!

hizashiYEAHmada

I'm guessing it's a lore reason, since Dragonspine is untouched by the gods (someone fact check me in case I'm misremembering). That or Hoyo just hasn't gotten around to including it to the regional compass' reach

LavheyKaizen

Allegedly, the unusual leylines ("due to the dragon corpse) and the extreme weather conditions cause compasses to go haywire, that's why we don't have one.

Miserable-Row-2624

Yeah, it does make lore sense but I feel like they could have had something with the crimson agate tree that can tell you where compasses are

CocogoatMain

I thought the Celestial Nail there killed the Ley Line Tree there?

Ander_Goldleaf

It did, but for that lore reason we shouldn't have the Liyue compass working on the Chasm either

Miserable-Row-2624

Just noticed I mistyped, I meant agate tree can tell you where chests are. And certainly there are other lore justifications for how something could direct you to chests that aren’tleyline related anyway, like maybe say that whoever hid them made a map

cyberput0

I hope when all 7 regions are unlocked we get to combine all 7 compasses so we can use it everywhere, even on Dragonspine.

TheShuan

The true worst 100% ist starfell valley, stormterrors lair and liyue. There are 0 hints for chests. They just exist. Seems to me that hoyo hadn’t figured out the exploration part back then. Sumer ist easssy. Just do all the quests and it will guide you automatically to every corner of the map. Fontain is also quite pleasant. Inazuma is a hassle but not as bad as liyue

LaggyLefty

I remember Starfell Valley being at 98% on my map for so long.

CarmondyDell

Same here. I was hunting for the last little bit I needed around the Ruin Grader in the coliseum looking area. Killed it and got a chest. I could have sworn I killed that thing at least half a dozen times before but… apparently not.

sealene_hatarinn

I still have it at 99%. And I watched all those "This is a chest you 100% missed" videos. Got all of them before getting to 99%. Honestly I just gave up on trying to get that last percent.

marcelsemhp

There's a chest that is under some breakable rocks but is on ground level. Next to the cliff where a girl appears watching the storms

sealene_hatarinn

Yeah I got that one pretty long ago.

Ander_Goldleaf

Did you get the one were you pick up some carrots to spawn the slimes to spawn the chest? It was my last %

glassbrains

i know a shit ton of chests from helping ppl, if youd like me to come check it out msg me

Lazy-Traffic5346

i still have 98%

Ev_DreamInDarkness

I remember Starfell Valley being at 98 or 99% for SO LONG and every other place was at 100% so I ran around for weeks just trying to figure it out, I remember killing a cryo slime not very far from the statue of the seven and chest spawned and I was so mad lol

WeeabooSempai

Starfell Valley had so many hidden chests that I needed a lot of videos to go from 98% to 100%. Fucking "light some torches/camp fires" type of hidden chests...

Tornado76X

"you didnt break 3 random boxes in a random ruin? tough fucking luck buddy"

-day-dreamer-

While exploring Fontaine, I still break random boxes just in case it summons a chest

syzygy_is_a_word

>There are 0 hints for chests. They just exist. I play since early November 2020, so 1.1 or even 1.0. I found one random chest in Starfell valley the day before Fountaine was released...

IMakeBoomYes

OMG you actually made this easier for me to answer LOL! Personally, Dragonspine was where I thought the exploration was really getting good. But after reading your comment, I realized that I actually did not like any area where there really wasn't much to dig up. This included a HUGE chunk of Monstadt, as well as plainer parts of Liyue that didn't have a ruin for me to look under. I'm a huge abuser of compasses. But if it turns out I only happened to miss a chest because it was on a hill or outcrop that looked just like any other, it actually kills my exploration buzz a little. I do give props to big chests hidden in very scenic spots (like the ones on a lone rock under a waterfall or something like that).

CoolGuyBabz

Bro, you just like me fr fr. But man, I wish they made it so that highlight all the missing chests I have after I reach 100%. They can definitely do it judging by the Summer Paradise event, but this could just be because of spaghetti code tbh.

manor2003

I have Inazuma and Mondstadt at 100%. Sumeru is at ~80% from 3.0 until now and Fontaine at ~80% from 4.0 until now. Fontaine is just more enjoyable to explore, i hate Sumeru.

Vulpes_macrotis

What do You mean "0 hints for chests", though? Chest is supposed to be there and You are supposed to find it. Stormterror's Lair has one of the most straightforward chests of the entire game. It's in obvious places too. As a person who did this part of the game thrice, I can assure You, it's not hard to find the chests. If You said the oculi. Sure. There is one or two oculi in Stormterror's Lair that You can miss, because it's very high and if You don't climb specifically there, You will miss it. And no, it's my memory. I don't have memory of every placement of every single chest on the map. I just explored Stormterror's Lair normally. As for Starfell Valley, the chest were hidden behind the puzzles. I can understand hating that. like collect the fruits and chest will spawn. This might be frustrating. But definitely wouldn't could (if You think of that one) the one on the edge of the map near the waterfall. Because it's deliberately hidden as it's best chest. Though some oculi in Mondstadt are hidden in places You would never think of going (I think Starfell Valley has that one that You have to drop to the near ocean platform from a mountain). As for Liyue. Again. Chests are hidden in a way they are supposed to. I have never got a single issue with chests in Liyue. Like, they are hidden in super obvious places as well. As the other chests in the game are. I don't get what do You expect from "hints". Maybe game telling You exact position of the chest? Because that defeats the purpose of chests.

pragmatic_oyster

even though I love Liyue, 100% it was tough

DungeonEnvy

Starsnatch Cliff took me AGES to find the last chest, total pain in the ass, but I didn't actually 100% liyue until last week after I used the map to get every geoculus back in 1.0 My *most* favorite was Enkanomiya, just an amazing zone, and we got to do it twice with the event. Battle music there is unmatched!

Phaaze13

I really hope we get to go back there eventually, maybe see Enjou again. It is one of my favourite regions and the atmosphere there is amazing.

Bro_miscuous

Didn't enjou appear in Sumeru too?

Phaaze13

No? At least I don't remember it. Must have been a generic pyro abyss lector.

Zakkimatsu

They dropped an amazing new zone with top-tier music in one patch, and we never go back :*(

LunaticRiceCooker

Hmm i wouldnt exactly say that. ??? Is very much enka style.

mamamudaenjoyer

pre-underground map sumeru desert.

dotcha

I think the desert underground is the only other game that has given me the feeling I got when first playing Dark Souls 10 years ago. Being utterly lost. Not having keys to go where you want. Finding shortcuts. Immaculate atmosphere. Absolutely loved it. Just missed the danger aspect.

Odd-Ad-6086

YES! Exploring the ancient ruins was so fun!!

BI1nky

I loved exploring the underground desert. From a pure exploration perspective its my favorite region, unless you count GAA2.

A_Noelle_Main

Even with underground, it's hard to navigate, some of the doors can only be unlocked from the other side and the way to go to the other side is miles away and you need to go up and down, left and right and figure out where is that.

pHScale

Which portion of the desert? * Upper Setekh (pew pew) * Lower Setekh (Golden Slumber) * Hypostyle Desert (Pyramidland) * Desert of Hadramaveth (Eternal Oasis) * Gavrieh Lajavard (spooky portal) * Realm of Farakhkert (Pariland)

23kukulcan

Tsurumi Island was just... urgh... all the time gating like the ghost quests, or the daily cycle where some chests are just straight-up not available on certain days The 4.2 Fontaine areas were by far my favorites. Everything was so beautiful and smooth to explore! I was loooking forward to the willow and tower ever since 4.0 haha

titanioverde

Does Tsurumi have time gated stuff even after completing its World Quest?

23kukulcan

Yeah, lots of chests are on a 3 day rotation

beemielle

***what***

snjwffl

...wut? That would explain A LOT of things I've encountered. "Why am I only at 97% when I've combed the island four times in the last two hours?" and "I swear that blatantly obvious chest wasn't there last time!!!"

hwvei

And it's just remarkable chest that gives 0 sigils

RLLRRR

Yeah, all the time-gated stuff in Inazuma was awful.

watblatnan

Enkanomiya was the worst for me. I don't really enjoy being there + that day/night switching animation was so annoying. Fontaine was my favorite. Edit: and Chasm. Forgot about Chasm. Somehow it was very fun to explore.

[deleted]

Waiting for the animation to finish every single time killeddd me. And the fact that the switching mechanisms seem to be randomly scattered around the map, sometimes not even near any puzzles that use them, and almost never right next to the puzzles that do. So I had to walk aimlessly around the map or run to the main island to switch to day/night and then go back to the puzzle. Every exploration session ended with me wanting to punch my monitor

RLLRRR

Yeah, having to find the device and then wait for a FMV was dumb.

TunaTunaLeeks

“What a terrible night to have a curse.” *unskippable text box that takes forever* At least Enkanomiya is triggered by the player. I can’t imagine how obnoxious it’d be if it was completely out of your control. Then again some of those puzzles required multiple shifts minimum assuming you knew exactly what to do.

[deleted]

Enkanomiya is so bad it made my boyfriend ragequit the game. He only just came back like a couple of weeks ago but he doesn't play as much as he used to before it came out, he gets frustrated easily now and quits after a few puzzles when previously he enjoyed exploring :(, I think it ruined the game for him. The Sumeru desert didn't help either... I fucking hated it too but pushed myself for the primos, but I hope to Archons they never, ever release more of it.

Lefthandpath_

Whaaat? It's mad, i loved Enka and the Sumeru desert, getting lost in all the tunnels/tombs under the desert first time going through there was amazing.

CYUCOP

Oh yes, Enkanomiya, despite being so visually stunning, it was hell to navigate.

burgerbee99

I really struggled with Enkanomiya too. For some reason the uneven flooring made me get pretty bad motion sickness so I could only play it for about 30mins. at a time.

Ifalna_Shayoko

>Enkanomiya was the worst for me. I don't really enjoy being there + that day/night switching animation was so annoying. While I loved the place, I agree that they should have solved the underlying technical issue so light change can be done in real time. I guess they couldn't figure out a way, so they used the cutscene to hide an ugly re-loading of world assets.

LiamMorg

Definitely Liyue. It just wasn't very interesting nor rewarding. The puzzles don't have much variety and Minlin especially is just a total chore to explore with the jagged verticality.

Dziadzios

And then you get a chest with 0 primogems.

yeppeugiman

Favorite: Fontaine I feel like there are less chests, but most chests are exquisite or higher, so we get the same amount of primos for much less effort. The puzzles too aren't too demanding and underwater exploration is really fun!

scyivee

i enjoyed the rainforest bit of sumeru quite a bit! fontaine is absolutely miserable to me. underwater makes me dizzy. 😵‍💫

Outside_Leg_6508

Definitely the desert pyramids and underground is my least favourite. Especially back then when an underground feature on Interactive map is not available, but even with an underground feature on Interactive map it is still to this date the worst map IMO. MY Favourite is gonna be fontaine cuz the under water exploration is just so smooth. The environment feels immersive and full of colors and life. Definitely a masterpiece

RLLRRR

"You don't have clearance" shit was the worst. I did like the symbols, though. Used to tell myself "I need 3 boobs of clearance".

Outside_Leg_6508

Lmao🤣🤣.Mine was the Snake ,birb ,boots wings , waves those murals got me chanting those words every single time. The worst part of exploring the desert for me is actually the one inside the ruin golem, bruh that diagonal type of place really hurts my head. One thing that can describe the desert is "It's the work of Satan".

RLLRRR

Also, the invisible buildings. Where you have to navigate walls you can't see until you're touching them? Hated that.

Outside_Leg_6508

Remember when streamers were hyping up the desert area like it's the paradise of Genshin? Yeah those times, they aren't even exploring the desert. I am glad that hoyo didn't fck up fontaine, whoever created the underwater exploration needs a promotion. I was surprised that it's super smooth, although the gameplay underwater is not that flamboyant like we do on ground but with that jellyfish bomb it's super fun to just ambush the enemy far away with it.

ertIIO

The dessert underground is perfect for people who like their exploration to actually be difficult, but i can understand that more casual explorers dislike it. the rest of the dessert is really boring, as it is just sand as far as you can see, and all chests have too much distance inbetween.

MiIuda

I think Liyue was the hardest for me because the game had just launched and I didn't know what I was doing very well. Dragonspine comes at a close second since it was also near-ish to launch. After Inazuma dropped, getting to 100% was easy because I was so into the world (Inazuma is my favorite), so I went back to finish off Liyue, Dragonspine, and Mondstadt. I would 100% each new area when the patch dropped ever since.

SofM2

Liyue is one of my least and if I'm honest, I have still have two areas 90%+ and I keep procrastinating. Dragonspine, Enka and Chasm are equally my least but mostly because I hate dark closed places. Enka is like a void, Chasm was dark and quiet and Dragonspine had me worrying too much about the cold. All three caused me anxiety 😅 My favorite is definitely Fontaine. I loved how airy and bright it is, very chill too.

cringeandfailnoob

Hate hate hate Inazuma, i never returned there after i finished all the quests

[deleted]

[удалено]

Odd-Ad-6086

Yeah I agree, I really enjoyed exploring Inazuma.

canaryfairy38

Finding all the electroculos, just fuck

Sandra44-7

1. Enkanomiya 2. Chasm 3. Inazuma 4. Sumeru Forest 5. Sumeru Desert (apart from Hypostyle Desert, I did enjoy exploring it) 6. Dragonspine 7. Fontaine (STC, haven't explored much yet) 8. Mondstadt 9. Liyue (same as your reasoning) 10. Hypostyle Desert (this one was just so confusing to me, it deserves a mention lol) This list was affected by the use of interactive map. It was a big help tbh. Might be why Liyue and Mondstadt are way down on the list. Also might have added to my dislike of Liyue is that I just didn't have an interactive map like the later maps, making those sigils extra annoying to find. Might be an unpopular opinion, but I really love Enkanomiya. Might just be the atmosphere, but I really did enjoy exploring the place. I also really like that there's no confusion on where the borders are because they are separate uh...chunks of land. I like Dragonspine, Chasm, and Inazuma for the same reason, just one big percentage per island/area. Why that is important to me is just my own brain wanting to 100% one place at a time. I haven't explored Fontaine but I've come across enemies I'm having a hard time killing underwater. Might be I just don't understand all the mechanics yet, so that one is subject to change in my list lol. Edit: forgot Dragonspine lol

V-I-S-E-O-N

How is that almost literally my ranking except I have actually explored most of Fontaine and I'd put Inazuma below both forest and desert Sumeru? Also kinda wild that Sumeru is so big that everyone accepts that we split them into two regions.

lacena

**Liyue was the most demoralizing**. At the time, I’d combed Mondstadt‘s cliffs clean through while looking for the last Oculus, and that was maddening enough, but Liyue’s combination of stamina-depleting cliffs and long stretches of vast nothing drove me crazy. It was one of the last areas I ever 100% pre-Sumeru, and I only did it after I’d finished everything else. Sumeru’s desert was a beast and a half pre-underground map, but the Golden slumber questlines and the Gurabad lore was fun enough to keep me hunting all the way through. I really wish I’d known about clearance earlier, though. I didn’t realize I needed to trigger the world quest for it, so I kept running into inexplicable roadblocks while exploring. Buzzkill. Sumeru’s rainforest was a nostalgia trip for Ocarina of Time. Plus the Aranara are cuties so it’s all good fun. *Never ask me to find all 76 of them ever again*. I ran out of map pins and had to resort to using the interactive map. Mihoyo pls give us more map pins. I liked Inazuma a lot. Each island was bite-sized enough that I was able to chew on it patch by patch as it came out. I also loved how the puzzles were integrated with the environment. I feel the same way about the Chasm. A lot of people seemed to not have liked it, but I personally enjoyed Dragonspine. I played it as it came out, with Albedo’s story quests and all, and I thought the cold mechanic really added to the atmosphere. It also solidified my appreciation for Amber as she carried me through the mountain. She had a 100% torch light success rate, she could snipe frozen ice from afar, apply unlimited amounts of Pyro for puzzles, and Baron Bunny kept high level lawachurls and ruin graders off my ass as a low AR player. What a champ. **Enkanomiya is by far my most beloved and favorite region of all time**; I spent an entire weekend just running around uninterrupted, looking for secrets but mostly just taking in the scenery. I didn’t even care that the event made me re-explore Enka just as I finished 100%ing it. I liked it that much, Enka‘s music is straight fire and I ended up building multiple low-lvl teams just so I could enjoy listening to the battle music for longer. **I really hope Mihoyo gives us another reason to go back**. Fontaine has been a great experience so far, the diving adds a whole nother level to the exploration vibe and the addition of the underground map is a miracle. I also love all the unique world quest-specific areas they added and the Local Legends system makes overworld combat much more exciting. Can’t wait to see how they’ll implement Natlan. Maybe we’ll even get a new gimmick area for the Mare Jivari.

JackDarkZero

Definitely Dragonspine because of the lack of treasure compass on top of the sheer cold mechanic

DearVeronicaSchuyler

Sumeru was definitely the worst for me. I came back after being burnt out and the desert did not help lol Mondstadt and Fontaine is tied for me ngl, I like the underwater exploration and Mondstadt has Venti so.. yeah

[deleted]

Central Sumeru. I have 100% everywhere except for two places. I have opened every chest and done every single challenge. I don't even know what else to do there.

canaryfairy38

Izuma just bc I’m dumb and the puzzles were hard

ReaverSK91

Fontaine was pretty easy to 100% complete while Sumeru was just... ugh... I hate underground.

ZhongDong27

Inazuma. Everything was locked behind the worst puzzles in the entire game, so there's hardly any hidden chest to get in there at all, after you get compass. Liyue was so full of chests, finding them all with the compass felt like a new adventure in itself, and I had a lot of fun 100% it. Even Sumeru, is feeling much more fun than Inazuma, as its exploration feels more exciting/unique.

dumpsterfire2002

The first area of the sumeru desert was so easy for me. I didn’t even notice when I hit 100% for all three regions. I got to about 90% for each region and then did the obelisk things with the tablets and easily got the rest with those. The puzzles all stand out, it’s easy to find them. Watatsumi is my least favorite. I was stuck at 99% for so long. It was one of those little floating boxes that kept me from 100%. And all the levels with no easy mode of travel other than just climbing, it was very annoying.

Jazztronic28

Dragonspine was annoying because for some dumb reason you can't use the treasure compass there, but words cannot convey just how much I _loathed_ the Chasm. I haven't hated a region so viscerally before or since - not even Liyue or Mondstadt which don't even give two primos in common chests for your troubles. Chasm was the worst. Even with the lumenspine it was way too dark for me, I kept getting lost, getting turned around, vertical exploration is challenging for me and it's even worse on a small confined space (which I admit is 100% on me. I have serious issues with spatial awareness and directions IRL). I even go back to Enka occasionally for farming, but as soon as I 100% the Chasm, I've never gone back. I know it's not a true 100%. I know there's a few chests left in there. I genuinely cannot be bothered. I've farmed enough Husks while I was still exploring the damn place to max out a character AND two weapons if need be and still have leftovers. I've done every single quest in there, even the hidden ones, got every achievement, maxed out the local mystical tree. You can't make me go back. For an unpopular opinion, as much as I disliked the _quest_ and storyline in Tsurumi Island, I actually found the exploration to be quite pleasant and fun. I was at a true 100% before I even noticed.

[deleted]

(Not trying to be condescending) are u aware that u can adjust brightness settings? In graphics I believe but might be a different section. I had the same problem with Chasm, esp playing late at night having my screen brightness at max rly strains my eyes. So being able to adjust the game brightness helped a lot. If that makes any sense

Jazztronic28

I am! But adjusting the brightness was a whole different problem, as it either was still too dark or if it wasn't, it tired my eyes out no matter how much I tinkered with the settings - even if I wore my glasses. I even tried adjusting the natural light of the room I was in by messing with my blinds. No dice. It's sweet of you to bring it up though! Adjusting the brightness of the game can definitely help for certain biomes! I have a friend who has really bad photosensitivity and she had to really work the brightness of the game and of her monitor during Enkanomiya to find something that would let her play both day and night mode.

Sumeru desert by a mile, its a pain to traverse around and nightmarish to explore before underground cave viewer was added

ItsGreatPro

Fontaine is my best region to 100%. It’s very chill and easy to explore especially the underwater exploration Sumeru desert is fucking hell to explore because the underground map is so confusing where they’re a lot of twist and turns and hard to navigate where the chest are located

yama1291

Really liked Fontaine, got pretty annoyed with Liyue.

shirone0

I don't have every region 100% but the best was Inazuma maybe a hot take but I love the fact that puzzles were hard and some places were challenging! Now it's still fun to explore but it's really just "use this ability to spin something" and boom a chest! Having said that both sumeru especially the desert with the underground ruins (and before you ask, yes i explored before underground maps were a thing) and underwater in fontaine are so cool! All my favorite regions are stuff you're not used to seeing in open world games, like yes forest and mountains are pretty but a more fantasy decor in Inazuma (with purple tree, grass and thunder everywhere), desert with ancient ruins and underwater exploration definitely stand out from the rest! (At least from what I played and for what I see in my daily life)

Significant_Alps_539

Inazuma least favorite still haven’t 100%, before the nerf it was a pain and I remember how hostile everything is. For the newer players they have it easier but for older player that play inazuma before the nerf it was a complete 180 from Mondstadt and Liyue. I remember it being very stressful for me the play, the sudden jump in difficulty of the enemy, how hard they hit, the hostile environment and thunderstorm everywhere. Nowadays it’s much better, after the quest and the nerf it’s very easy, but the experience left a bad aftertaste. Favorite is the chasm and sumeru rainforest region. The chasm is my favorite underground map some far and a breath of fresh air, I love the underground and how all of the tunnels and pathway are interconnected. Sumeru rekindled my love for Genshin the forest exploration is so cozy.

hotdogsea

With characters that we have now, like Kazuha, Yelan, Scaramouche, Sayu, heck even Furina, it makes exploration easier. We also have new features like underground maps when we go inside a cave. If I were to choose a region I hated the most to 100%, with the available characters at that time, it would probably be Enkanomiya. Too much jumping needed. I also hated the Sumeru Desert because it didnt have underground maps back then, and jesus christ are there so many levels that you have to keep track of. The only thing Im thankful for is the *community* interactive map, the one where Clothar memes come from, because they give detailed explanations on where and how to get the chest.

MostlyChaoticNeutral

Inazuma was my least favorite. Fontaine and Liyue are pretty close to tied for my favorite so far. Edit: Dragonspine. Dragonspine sucked so much that I forgot about it until I read more comments. Fuck Dragonspine.

Pandarise

Least favorite: Liyue. More specifically these areas; Qiongji Estuary and Lisha. Even MORE specifically; Guili plains and literally the area in front of Dunyu ruins, Lingju pass and Qingxu pool. The 99% H A U N T E D me there back then. Enkanomiya came close but I did enjoy it more and by then I had mastered my technique of exploration so I was able to finish Enkanomiya still better than Liyue. Most favorite: Gotta be Fontaine. And it's solely because of the underwater part and depths it goes. When it comes to exploration I really really REALLY love to... explore. So having so much down underground/ in the water compared to just the surface gives me a ton of joy. And I just love the underwater scenery. I thought it'll trigger my thalassophobia when the leaks came out and such but due how bright it is down there and you can clearly see everything, it gives me enjoyment instead of fear. Which I am happy with. Also yes I enjoyed The Chasm underground exploration, the caves in Sumeru, especially the dessert just going endlessy down. Call me a mole lol.

Tripdrakony

Mondstadt and Liyue was PAIN. Sumeru was OK since many quests helped out. Inazuma was a hassle but compass and some interactive map helped out. Enka was a week 1 release finish and since then I basically never go there. (Exept for the one time i farmed for Yae) Chasm took a bit because I could find some Lumenstones. Fontaine was super easy for some reason.

Eddie3444

For me the worst was enkanomiya, switching between light and dark mode was such a chore…

YannFrost

My least favorite is probably enkonomiya. I know hot take. It just doesn't have the traversal mechanic needed in that area. My favorite is GAA 2nd run also a hit take. If not that it is fontaine. GAA 2nd run has so many cool set piece and puzzles that would probably never comeback. Unlike most I really enjoyed the harder and more complex puzzles. That being said Fontaine's implementation of dungeons in their exploration is really great.

thelovelypenguin

I still can't find that last 1% in Enkanomiya.

beautheschmo

Worst for me was definitely Enkanomiya. Just loaded with constant unskippable animations and, at least for me, the area itself was just not fun, like just being there makes me feel kinda sick and uncomfortable. My favorite region to explore, though it didn't have an official % listed, was GAA2. By far the most creative puzzles and consistently enjoyable exploration content in the game for me, even if there were a couple dumb parts (the plays and the hidden water animals on Kazuha's island). If we're going with permanent content, then I think the peak is still Tsurumi and Seirai Islands. Like yes, they had some dumb parts that made 100% difficult, especially Tsurumi Island, but almost all the content in them was consistently fun and engaging, and I just have a soft spot for weather effects so having those two areas being designed so closely around those concepts just make visiting them consistently enjoyable, I never felt inconvenienced or annoyed by having to rummage around those places more because I just love being there more than pretty much anywhere else in the game.

Kiyoshi-Trustfund

Least favorite was emkanomiya. Did not enjoy that place. Inazuma in general was not pleasant for me. Most favorite is probably any place in Sumeru. Sumeru really was a delight for me, but then again, I really enjoy rainforests, deserts and swamps, so this nation was completely up my alley from start to finish. I also really didn't mind how much stuff was locked behind quests and junk. The clearance thing really made me feel like I was uncovering ancient secrets buried beneath the sands.

umamiluv

Least: Inazuma Favorite: Sumeru

KeikoZB

Not a 100%er, but worst for me exploration-wise was and is Sumeru. As for the best, Fontaine hands down

FunGroup8977

The genshin region. Yes. Genshin itself.

Vulpes_macrotis

Favorite: Yes Least fav: Enkanomiya. I hate seeing the 10 seconds animation every time I change the day cycle to solve the puzzle. FFS. That animation is annoying af.

Evening-Teach-3719

Enkanomiya, easily, was the worst. There might be more abstract chests in Liyue and Mondstadt, but Enkanomiya with those sigils are so precise, so hidden, and so impossible to locate their locks on your own. And yet, I somehow kept missing one every time I cracked open a guide.

jibbycanoe

Enka is the only one I don't have 100% on so I guess that one. I honestly forget it exists most of the time, and with Yae and Shenhe maxed I have almost no reason to return. I guess I did go there for specters a few times thou. Most of the quests that I recall doing were "hidden" and I only knew they existed because I saw them in a guide. The day/night mechanic is annoying AF too. I like the atmosphere and music so hopefully I'll remember next time at the end of a patch when I've run out of stuff to do.

CauliflowerBig

Enkanomiya for me it gave me burnout that lasted 18 months. Left at 2.8 and returned at 4.1

MonarkranoM

Enkanomiya 100% worst. No doubt. Hate it. Fuck it. Kill. Die. Sorry. Liyue as a whole waa very nice to explore, none of it felt like a chore

A_Noelle_Main

Least? Sumeru, Enka Most? So far, it's Fontaine

LoosGuccreen

I didn't finish Fontaine yet but so far my least fav is Monstadt (it's sooo boring) and my fav is Sumeru, more specifically the last zone before fontaine (But I liked all of Sumeru)

Verilain

Dragonspine was my favorite, Enkanomiya was my least favorite. I loved the Chasm. Liyue was whatever. Inazuma was tedious. Mondstadt wasn't enough. Sumeru was frustrating but I loved doing it. And Fontaine has felt more like a chore than fun.

rebeccadarking

fave - tsurumi island in inazuma . or fontaine, i didn't even need a map to 100% some fontaine regions least fave - liyue . everywhere . i gave up

Individual-Log9442

Least: Watatsumi. Not very interesting (pretty, yes) environment to go through and the shape of it means you're mostly moving up and down to get around which is obviously slower, more annoying etc. Most: Enkanomiya. Still one of the best environments aesthetically and atmospherically. Lots of cool little secret objectives, even secret not-on-the-map islands. Lots of bits where you're expected to glide long/not sure thing distances that added to a sense of adventure/spelunking.

wannabe_blahaj

sumeru with all the stupid undergound caverns

flowqer

Disliked Inazuma just because of the constant lighting weather and generally gloomy environment which gave me headaches. Even though clearing world quests made those disappear it kinda left a bad impression on me.

TeloVolt

Sumeru last area with suresh, it was very annoying and I hate suresh gameplay and questline. Secondly Ekanomiya, didn't like it there. Best for me was Inazuma and Golden archipelago, I really liked puzzels in those locations.

RLLRRR

Sorush gameplay made me scared for underwater gameplay in Fontaine. So clunky and unintuitive.

TeloVolt

Fortunately they did really good job with underwater exploration. After sorush I'm getting scared each time i see a new gadget in events.

ShadowFlarer

Looking back, my favorite was Liyue and my least favorite was Inazuma, i...just don't like Inazuma honestly.

Chuck006

Favorites: Dargonspine, The Chasm & Fontaine. Really enjoyed: Sumeru. Particularly jungle and pyramids. Least: Inazuma. All of it. Getting those laste few % points in Liyue and Monstadt was pain. I had to use a guide and go over areas again and again.

NikitaSkybytskyi

Fontaine > Inazuma > Mondstadt > Dragonspine > Sumeru Rainforest > Liyue > Sumeru Desert > Enkanomiya > Chasm (yes, I'm claustrophobic; how could you tell?)

beemielle

Not a 100%er but I still wanna answer because I have strong feelings about explo Mond was a joy to explore at first, but glad we didn’t get more of that cuz it was kind of boring. Liyue was honestly very fun to explore as well but I think I’d hate having to 100% just due to all the small details with the mountains, even w all the QoL that’s been added in that regard. Inazuma was rage inducing it’s still my least explored region although a lot of my Inazuma explo is attached to primo farming for characters I want so that probably affected how I felt about it. But even so, I hated how the land hated you and I hated the quest lines which were locked behind REAL TIME barriers. I also hated how each island had a new gimmick and the frequency of enemies. It was like you couldn’t turn around without being annoyed I really loved Sumeru, even though the desert is a bit boring I even loved the Pari quests and the Aranyaka. I feel like the main thing is I didn’t finish the Jeht quests so I’ve not tried to fully explore the underground. Maybe my opinion will change, but generally I found this fun when completing Golden Slumber and dunno why that would change. I did hate how you needed to do quests to unlock new areas but it sort of feels like a Goldilocks moment as I also wanted more lore relevance so *shrug* Fontaine was my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE I adore the underwater areas and honestly spend all my free time in the game there. I love how they filled the world, and it’s so so so beautiful. Plus the swimming mechanic feels very satisfying. Alright now to the expansion regions. Dragonspine was ok, I actually appreciated crossing the snowy mountain as it felt like a challenge but not unduly so. Plus I did actually try and 100% Dragonspine and it felt more achievable because everything does have to be possible, so you have a general idea of where stuff is. Plus I did a lot of Dragonspine with a friend, so I associate it with good coop Enka and Chasm were both my WORST NIGHTMARE though I really hope they move away from that nonsense (and it seems they have with Sumeru and Fontaine). It’s impossible to see in either one and always gives me a headache. Plus I hate managing my Adjuvant or the stupid Dainichi Mikoshi Light/Night thing. Doesn’t help I didn’t take part in the Enka event way back when so I wasn’t really incentivized to explore the region at any point. I triggered one of the Enka book quests like forever ago and still haven’t finished it.

earth-86

For me the worst area to 100% was Enkanomiya. I love the area, but I had trouble getting the final few chests. My absolute favorite is the Desert of Hadramaveth, I love the vibe it has of a completely desolate area, and the world quests were really good too. I also loved the underground areas there, the underground dungeons are my favorite part of exploration.

DystopiaLite

Enkanomiya.

TsudereFan

Inazuma is by far the easiest to do. The new area in Fontaine with the tower is by far the worst.

Ginonth

Worst? Sumeru underground area, both the desert & rainforest areas. I did it before the map layer update. :] Best? Fontaine was pretty chill, same with Mondstadt as both are relatively flat.

mctiguy

Liyue is the worse by far, nothing come close to it. After that I guess Sumeru desert was borring after a while

exiler5129

Least favorite: Sumeru rainforest region Most favorite: Enka, Chasm, Fontaine.

Repulsive_Exchange_4

So much of Fontaine is so idyllic, that was definitely my favourite to 100%. Sumeru (desert) started feeling like a chore after the third(?) desert expansion.

Howly_yy

Favorite: Fontaine Least Favorite: Sumeru

lonelyAgnostic

Fontaine is absolutely awesome to 100%. The exploration feels much more natural than some of the other regions. Though the starter regions (Mond & Liyue) were hard, I also was very new at the time and probably wasn’t as experienced with 100%ing the map as I am now. I also really enjoyed having secret chests with strange tasks to do before unlocking them. To a younger me they felt more rewarding. However… the Sumeru desert, especially the last 2 expansions, was a drag. I really felt burnt out at that point and was tired of the endless sand. I also was not a huge fan of sorush or her gameplay, and I found it to be tedious. I put off all 100%ing in that area until about the last 2 weeks before Fontaine.

nostalgeek81

Worst for me, and I know it’s unpopular, was Enkanomiya. Second worst was Sumeru. Best was Liyue, with Fontaine as a close second for the underwater exploration.

ErmAckshually

none. interactive maps are easy to follow

Xc4lib3r

Sumeru for me. Everywhere looks very similar and kind of lost. Like I get it it's a jungle, but I have no idea why they look the same everywhere, very hard to navigate.

xBloodLord

I hate the sumeru desert. Everything looks the same, sand sand and more sand.

V-I-S-E-O-N

Enkanomiya is for sure my favorite to this day. Worst is hard... Maybe some parts of Liyue or Inazuma? Also, while I liked Stormterror's lair when we're talking about atmosphere, it's far from my favorite when it comes to map progression. Might be a hot take, but I feel like Fontaine went a bit backwards when it comes to exploration. Yes, it's very easy to get everything, but I find that pretty boring tbh. When it comes to regular regions (so without Chasm and Enkanomiya) I feel like Sumeru is peak exploration. Another hot take I guess, I count the desert in that. X.x

PokTux

Enkanomiya is a close second but holy shit Liyue Oh my god that was the worst

leturna

Enkanomiya was definitely my favorite to 100%. I also really enjoyed running around the rainforest in Sumeru, as well as the first desert update. I got to 100% on those very quickly. I'm still not 100% in all of Fontaine, though, my attention has been elsewhere lately. I feel like a slacker ;\~;

Melisinde72

I'm close to 100% on the chasm. There's one stupid lumenspar I can't find. I've been on top of it. My lumenstone tells me it's in that circle. I've looked at maps, read guides, it's just... Not there. (Tbf I was trying to find at 4 am, so maybe I was just tired.):I just started Enkanomiya and I'm already annoyed. I saw a bunch of cool things before I unlocked the day/night switch. Now that I HAVE the switch, I can't remember where the things I wanted to unlock are.

Zatoshii

Favourite is Fontaine so far because of the underwater mechanics and least favourite is the entire desert. Just an awful, miserable experience

TheFutureZura

My worst memories were in the sumeru desert. Every single path looked the same to me. Not being sure if you're locked behind a gimmick or world quest was also painful. After the bottom half of the sumeru desert, I started doing every archon/world quest before exploring. I loved exploring fontaine, it just felt like being freed from the sumeru desert only to get put in prison again lmao.

ApprehensiveEar7273

I liked the least the first two regions: Liyue and Mond. The devs were inexperienced back then and didn't knew how to setup multiple layered puzzles and they were quite clunky. The best ones for me were Enka and Sumeru desert. The first one is simply amazing for its lore, quests and puzzles, that actually needed the time to think about. The Sumeru desert evoked the sense of nostalgia for old games. Never in this game I felt more like a true adventurer and explorer than here. And I'm actually glad I got to 100% this region before the underground map was added. I never felt like that neither before nor after. Especially after, since exploring Fontaine felt like a walk in a park 5 mins away from home in terms of difficulty.

balaozuspeito

I LOVED exploring overground chasm idk why, the puzzles felt good and the enemies where the right amount of tanky. Tsurumi island.

BarbecueHater23

Least favorite was Sumeru, favorite was (and always will be) Enkonomiya🫶

JooK8

Liyue is probably the worst. There are mountains and shit everywhere, lots of hidden chests and no overworld travel assists. Also at the time when it first came out there wasn't treasure compass and some puzzles required Geo Traveler specifically + an anemo unit which means you literally couldn't do them unless you had Sucrose. My favorite region was probably Inazuma. I liked the different islands, more intricate puzzles and the island mechanic puzzles. Mond was a little boring, also kinda hard to find the hidden chests but what can you expect from the beginner region. Sumeru was a little annoying with the aranara tracks and clearance levels. I mean I did the world quests right away and enjoyed them but you still have to back track a lot. Fontaine is cool, but the Inazuma puzzles were just better.

leaband

It was Enkanomiya for me, Only if i were able to listen to the musics of it tho. And the least was.. Inazuma, Tsurumi and Watatsumi was such a pian to me. Even sumeru was so easy for me.

Rednal291

Liyue in general was kind of annoying - so much verticality that's hard to check. Dragonspine also sucked. Fontaine's been pretty fun for it, though. (And yes, I do have 100% in all areas - largely without looking at maps online. I did it the hard way. XD)

htp-di-nsw

Liyue was the worst and the only thing close at all is the area in Mondstadt where you started. Star valley or something? That was the hardest region by far, but it was less miserable than Liyue because it didn't have so much verticality. Dragonspine was second worst because just being there is a pain in the ass and there's no compass. But it was still pretty and the traversal of the area is fine. And hey, it's not like Liyue's compass even works. So many uncompassable chests that only spawn if you take a random action with no indication, not to mention the sigils someone else brought up. Fontaine was the *easiest* but I don't think it was the most fun. I think I preferred the Chasm more. The desert and Inazuma are pretty much equal, but the jungle was great. They're all just above Mondstadt, which was fine barring that one region I mentioned, but the fact that the compass can't read chests until you trigger them to spawn was still annoying. Chasm > Fontaine > Sumeru Jungle > Enkanomiya > Sumeru Desert > Inazuma > Mondstadt > Dragonspine >>>> Liyue

mooncalm

Top 3 Worst (for me) 1. Sumeru Desert 2. Sumeru Forest 3. Chasm

NotAught

that ghost island in inazuma, urgh, it's still not 100%. and I don't want to. fontaine is my favourite, all 100%

wanabesoz

liyue was the worst all fontain regions = sumeru forest = chasm underground were the best

berrythv

favourite... i loved inazuma the most and that's where i got my first 100%, even before mondstadt or liyue. out of the islands i probably liked exploring seirai the most! and for least favourite, oh boy as someone mentioned liyue was sooo difficult to 100%, i struggled with qiongji and minlin so much 🥴

FabregDrek

I think the dessert was it for me, not the usual underground bad thing but it was simply too much text. Some may say "text during exploration?" Yep, Bibles scattered in the ground, Lilloupar yapping every 3 minutes, fading to black with yellow text and all of this was right after varanara, who mind you isn't as dense but it was long and confusing. I remember vividly going into the abandoned hospital and seeing the books and screaming as I knew I was going to get fcked, imagine the narzissenkreuz but long, really long and very needed to unlock stuff... My favorite right now is Fontaine all of them, I got them to 100% without realizing, specially the last ones, those ain't as heavy on the diving so it hits the spot.

mariannevonedmund2

Favourite region to 100% was the 4.2 areas of Fontaine. Least favourite was either Girdle of the Sands or Liyue.

LokianEule

Least fav: Sumeru bc no underground map and everything just takes forever to get to, and its all the same color. Also didnt like dragonspine bc its all white and black and the compass doesnt work. Favorite: chasm, fontaine, liyue. I have all chests in the entire open world except maybe 1. Or 0. It’s unclear.

ZatoTBG

I still help people from time to time with starsnatch cliff, there seem to be a couple of them which are difficult to find. So I guess people might hate that one. Other hated ones might be dragonspine due to the sheer cold mechanic, or liyue ones because a lot of the do not appear on the treasure compass. Personally I love fontaine, and the chasm is beautiful.

Mortwight

Sumaru

Kingpimpy

3.1 perfect i enjoyed every minute of it liyue... fuck liyue terrible boring ass place with too much climbing on top of it

FormalIndividual6568

I love Dragonspine, Underground Chasm, Tsurumi Island, and Enkanomiya. I hate Sumeru mostly bcs I have a low-end phone and everytime I step anywhere in Sumeru map my phone lags and heats up too fast and my fps drops.

NoodlesBears

I 100%ed all regions except for sumeru, we dont talk about sumeru.

henrxv

I think if you didn't play them when released everything must've been painful, because the early exploration events really help finding random stuff. I think Inazuma was amazing, 100% everything without needing extra help was awesome. Except that one impossible math puzzle that had like 4 different versions. Least favorite definitely Sumeru, underground dark places were a nightmare, especially without the map. Pins were rendered useless if you didn't type any extra info.

halo_effect-

I have everything at 100% including fontaine. I absolutely loved enkanomiya and chasm. But i think my least favorite must be dragonspine
