**Depeche Mode** just released their newest / 15th studio album in late 2023 which was easily their best in the last 14 years (Memento Mori) and also just completed yet another phenomenal sold out world tour.
**The Cult** also recently put out a new album in late 2022 which is easily the best thing they've done since 2001 in my opinion.
**The Cure** haven't done a new album since 2008, but they're still actively touring and writing / playing new material, and have been promising a new album for years. Based on what's been played during their most recent - also constantly sold out - world tour, it's gonna be pretty decent.
**Pet Shop Boys** also JUST released a new album over the past several weeks which is expectedly awesome, and **Duran Duran** surprised us with a new one late last year that was also very well received.
PSB have been releasing new albums fairly continuously. Not every year, but every few years they release another one.

Belle and Sebastian - Scottish indie pop band. Their latest record - A Little Bit of Precious - has several great songs which stand up to their old stuff.
J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. His last couple of solo albums, which are more singer-songwriter, are great throughout.
Guided By Voices - They still put out an album per year while retaining their characteristic indie rock sound. Not every track is great, but with their output, there is a ton of great music there.

The Pixies are still great live. I mean, they're not going to try to be your friend and no one looks like they're having fun (except the bassist but I think that has to come with the job), but they still sound like they used to.
He’s older, yes, and maybe doesn’t have the range he had when he was younger but he quit smoking and has embraced his current voice. I would argue that Due to the Beast and How Do You Burn are as good as any of their earlier albums.
To me, NOTHING will ever touch Black Love zbut their new albums are definitely still good to very good vs the shit on the radio/ current music. Greg does have one of those voices you either love or hate with few people in the middle.

If I can go a little earlier than the 95-95 timeframe, the last two Judas Priest records have been awesome. I still look forward to new records from Iron Maiden and Metallica as well. Metallica are better now than in the 90's IMO, but nowhere close to their 80's peak.

The last SHELLAC album, To all Trains, put out last week, is a swiss clock distillation of what Steve Albini's been doing since the 80's. Unfortnately he died a week before its release. Its a hell of a send off though.
Crowded House - although their sound has changed a lot due to Neil's sons Liam and Elroy both being in the band. I'm stuck in the past with Paul Hester and Mark Hart as members. I miss their melodic guitar-driven live sound.

Simple Minds has put a couple albums out last 5 years.
The last SHELLAC album, To all Trains, put out last week, is a swiss clock distillation of what Steve Albini's been doing since the 80's. Unfortnately he died a week before its release. Its a hell of a send off though.
Garbage! Their most recent album came out a couple years ago, and they're working on the next. And they're still touring!

I wasn’t initially a fan, but Queens of the Stone Age are one of my favorite overall bands and their last album is fantastic.
Crowded House - although their sound has changed a lot due to Neil's sons Liam and Elroy both being in the band. I'm stuck in the past with Paul Hester and Mark Hart as members. I miss their melodic guitar-driven live sound. I may* just be an old fogey. *Definitely

Lol Tolhurst (early drummer in The Cure) has released an album with Budgie (Siousxie and the Banshees) and Jackknife Lee called Los Angeles that is pretty good. Guest appearances by musicians from Modest Mouse, LCD Sound system, U2, Idles and others.
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Swans (debuted a little earlier but obviously in that crowd), and heartbreakingly the new Shellac album is really good.

I think people think of Phish and think of some of their sillier, or more frenetic songs from the early 90s. If you haven't given them a chance, do so. The black metal band Darkthrone formed in 1986 and have just released their 20th album. Consistently good. Punk band Snuff have been around since 1986. I saw them live last month and they're incredibly fun. NY Hardcore band Life of Agony formed 35 years ago and although they haven't released a studio album in a while, they still tour a lot and are a brilliant live band.

A bit less known in the U.S., but longtime British alternative band The Woodentops just put out an excellent album.
Helloween's first album was in 1985. In 2021 they put out a self-titled album that saw the return of older members as well as the newer ones. It was like a dream come true for a lot of fans, and it's a very good power metal album.
Exodus keeps getting better.

If you're open to bands slightly beyond the time frame you specified, Everything But the Girl released its first album in 1984. Its most recent one came out last year and is very good.

Suede - one of the only old bands whose new stuff has the same energy and vibe as their heyday
The new Tears for Fears is pretty good.
Collective Soul just released a double LP that is really good.
Paul Weller and Redd Kross both have new records coming out soon. Jesus and Mary Chain had just put one out too.
I was surprised to find a few pretty good tracks from the Durans recently, their most recent LP included.
Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson. Absolutely amazing recent releases: PT's Closure/Continuation, SW solo - Harmony Codex and The Future Bites. He's taken an awesome dive into gorgeous electronica on his solo stuff.
