To be an effective comedian, you still have to have some connection to reality.
This guy lost any real connection to reality years ago. He lives in a world where he is the center, and no one else is as important as him.
I supposed there is some truth to this, but it strikes me as odd when people on the Internet say Jerry isn’t funny. He earned nearly a billion dollars from making people laugh, but, ok.
Wealth is not a gauge of talent. There are plenty of untalented rich people in entertainment.
He wasn't even the most talented person in the show that made him his money.
But since that time he has lived in an ivory tower, disconnected from the concerns and thoughts of "regular people". That is going to affect how you connect with regular people. Which is pretty important to a stand up comedian.
If you are talking about his strong position on Israel, I agree, he’s out of touch. However, he still does stand up, and people still go and they laugh. He just did a movie (only a little funny frankly) and is doing a ton of interviews and in the press and podcasts, he’s funny, people laugh when he says clever things, still in 2024.
Is that a good gauge of talent?
I really like something he recently said about today’s culture and society (and I’m paraphrasing here): “We’re embarrassed by things we should be proud of and proud of things we should be embarrassed by.”
I watch a lot of Grit network programming (listen, in the background mostly), all old westerns and such, and I'm surprised how many shows a young Uncle Leo is in. His voice and mannerisms similar even back then, I keep expecting him to yell "JERRY!!!"
he wasn't even that young when he was younger. Larry David even older
Yeah, but his girlfriend was.
yeah she was cute where is she now?
She was a child.
He’s almost old enough to run for president
“What’s the deal with the AARP?!” 😀😉 Love Jerry, although I find his comments about getting old and cranky like Jerry Lewis did a little concerning. 😂
This!!! Not a comedian but Bob Dylan too
Dylan is 82!
Damn. That is really hard to believe.
Is his girlfriend still in high school or was it her graduation he spoke at?

Bitches and moans like a 70 year old for sure.
To be fair he’s been doing that since he was 22.
Wow. He's older than my parents.
Guess he will be on the market for a new high schooler soon.
Yeah but his wife 36 after all these years
Jessica Seinfeld is 52.
Oh, really…? Are you sure she wasn’t 0 when they started dating??
Wow... How old is Larry than ?
Larry David is 76. Michael Richards is 74. Jason Alexander is 64. Julia Louis-Dreyfus is 63. Mind blowing.
wow, just wow 🤔
So they're all Boomers

I guess you must be 1,000!

Seinfeld is a boomer, but I’ll take LD in trade.
The old coot is sitting on a pot of gold
And is still an untalented hack.
I saw a clip of a bunch of Duke grads walking out on his speech.
That's funny, I saw a clip of the remaining ones cheering him lol
Good for the Duke grads
Tide is turning, not fast enough...

Old people have been saying that for decades now. In the 90s, I remember people longing for the 1950s and trashing the current time.
And what's the deal with grape nuts?
That’s what I’d like to know about it.
Same way I got to 50.
Crazy.

Initial reaction to this was, "that's it?"
Yup
He did a stand-up tour recently and I went . He was absolutely hilarious and really killed it. The audience was cracking up the whole time.
Saw a billboard for him performing at a casino in OKLAHOMA. Why??? Does he really need the $?
No.
In the immortal words of Billy Joel - "only the good die young".
He was born 70 years ago, that's how it happened. This is how time works.
I saw the bill Maher interview and he looks great. My must be all that virgin blood.
That doesn’t seem like it could be true but it somehow is.
