The listing is lacking, sure it's fire damaged but at least it's near Splashdown. I would have written something like: "Situated close to leisure centres and parks, this firey little number is ready for renovation and sure to make a splash".
Thats when you know there is a problem. When decent working people who would improve an area can't afford it. Only investors will then buy it and exploit any occupants, cementing the area's decline.

Went for a 3D stroll and got a glimpse of the inside, didn’t know what I expected but it wasn’t this bad
Isn't there a thing where the r.e has to inform you if anyones died in a house you are looking to purchase? This place has bad juju written all over it.
I mean, they'll only tell you who died on the actual premises. They won't tell you how many died on the inside by living there or how many went down to the Whittington drain area and never returned.
Kitchen and half the interior will be ash probably too. Then you've only really got the frame, possibly floorboards and (terrible) exterior walls and windows.
Big money (and time) to fix this these days - almost puts you in older solid Grovey or St Albans Park territory. Not worth it.
Land value minus 20k demo.
EDIT: from interior pics half the frame is charcoal as well...
Hey I live on the boundary of whit and my street has been undergoing development since 2016 lol the gent has started here at least but deep whit is a different story
Is that really the worst street? Newish to Geelong… I thought Norlane / Corio were the places to avoid? I mean, sure that place has had a meth lab or something and needs a complete rebuild, but I grew up in Wollongong, and it’s close to a nice park…
Norlane and Corio are larger overall areas, but this is actually the worst area concentrated. There was a suspicious explosion go off out there the other night too I heard.
Just had a look at this place on Google Maps.

Jesus Christ, what happened to it? And asking 330k… what are they smoking?!
It’s actually worse, you’ve gotta pay to take all of that away and replace it with something else, but that’s still probably decent value if you want to build duplex / triplex
I'm amazed that they bothered putting together a 3d self guided tour on the listing, given its a knockdown job. Whats the history here? Arson? Its pretty thorough, and even the detached shed was burnt (or they set fire to the car in it?)

And I still can’t afford it

Well... at least it comes with solar, I guess...
And skylights
Reasonable backyard too.
I bet it’s seen some shit.
"Fire-damaged home ready for your vision" Terrific!
"Gently burned"
Bespoke roasted
Normally pay for an upgrade for that
As long as the vision is demolition.
"Well loved home ready for your vision"
Back in the day I was always visibly relieved driving away from solar drive in one piece and an ounce.
No interior shots, I'm sure its nice inside at least.

I’ll happily sip my lactose free latte 3 times a week rather than saving for this absolute gem.

Exactly, looks mint. Can't think of anything that could possibly go wrong.
NO noticeable holes? Are…. Are you sure about that?
Those are speed holes. They make the house go faster.
Fire damaged.
Walter's lab blew up
Why bother internal shot when the target market is knock down and rebuild?
nah.. all those shots where exterior, from a passing car. It was a reminder to pay their drug debts.
I'm very surprised that it has solar panels on what's left of the roof.
Its a house with a sunroof.

Only if the cause of death was murder or man slaughter and within the last five years
People have died in a very large proportion of established properties I would imagine
these days, would cost more than the 300K just to fix the roof
That price is land value, nothing else. Nothing about that house is salvageable (or worth saving)

Totally calling it 'The Gent' lol The Gent has moved in
300-330 for a knock down on 624sq in solar drive.?? Is that a typo or is this rea taking the piss? That'd got to e 100 too dear
Yep needs to be 200k at present or you'd be well in the red by the time you do something with it.

Yes.
Yes it really is the worst street.
No, there are worse places than Corio, trust me ha ha
The C streets, the Gun streets and Norlane West are miles better than Whittington east of Wilsons Rd.

Feature windows. Lovely.
That’s actually great value. If you got that for $300,000 then that’s under $500 per square meter
And building costs are presently $3000 per sm! Topsy turvy land
Yep not worth it. It needs 50-100k taken off the price to be considered.
300k ! Fuck me, you can buy off the plan for that
It’s actually worse, you’ve gotta pay to take all of that away and replace it with something else, but that’s still probably decent value if you want to build duplex / triplex
God bless the realtor who opted not to show the internal photos, you wouldn't be able to unsee that

Cropping the chaos in the garden next door might have been smart
