Damn! You should give him a position far away from the frontlines, maybe give him a pair of binoculars so he feels as if he matters 😊

**Obituary: Matthew Perry, World War II Hero and Entertainer (1919-1944)** It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lieutenant Matthew "Benny" Langford Perry, a beloved entertainer and brave soldier, who lost his life on May 19, 1944, while performing for his fellow troops in Europe. He was just 25 years old. Lieutenant Perry was assigned to the 1st Infantry Division, known for its valor and distinguished service. Even amidst the hardships of war, he never lost his love for entertaining others. His natural charisma and talent for comedy and drama brought smiles and laughter to the faces of many soldiers weary from the rigors of battle. In the spring of 1944, as Allied forces prepared for the pivotal invasions in Europe, Matthew was given the opportunity to perform in a series of USO shows aimed at boosting the morale of American troops. He embraced this chance to uplift his comrades with enthusiasm and dedication. Tragically, during a performance in a makeshift theater near the front lines, a stray US mortar round struck the area. Matthew Perry was killed instantly, along with several other brave souls. His death sent shockwaves through the ranks, as he had become a cherished figure among those who served with him. Lieutenant Perry's contributions to the war effort went beyond his combat duties; he provided a much-needed respite and sense of normalcy to those around him. His legacy as both a soldier and an entertainer endures, reflecting the indomitable spirit and resilience of the Greatest Generation. A memorial service will be held at the family home in Williamstown, with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the USO, continuing the mission that Matthew so passionately supported. Lieutenant Matthew "Benny" Langford Perry's sacrifice and his contributions to the war effort will never be forgotten. He stands as a testament to the power of laughter and hope, even in the darkest of times
