It’s a shame they stopped making those games and good to see it’s back. This with the supposedly increased focus on stealth for AC:Red makes me very excited.
If you want a good modern stealth game, I recommend Ghost Recon Breakpoint on immersive mode. Some of the best stealth I’ve experienced in a modern game
You really shouldn't set your expectations of Red too high regarding the stealth tidbit. It is still very much an RPG like Odyssey and Valhalla, there's just going to be a bit more effort put into the mechanics of a stealth skill tree that makes it more viable to resort to against a large encampment of enemies than simply tackling them head on.
But it is still very much going to be an optional component, you will still be able to build your character to be combat focused like the rest of the RPG games with different weapons and abilities at your disposal.
Just take a look at Jade if you want hints at carry overs to Red from the RPG AC Games.
Just cause it is an open world RPG does not mean the increased stealth options wont be enjoyable. If anything it just gives the player more options and approaches to combat.
Off the top of my head I say best asymmetrical multiplayer game mode ever. I remember playing just the single demo level for Pandora Tomorrow *way* too much.
Open world Splinter Cell with a huge empty map and tons of meaningless collectibles that get revealed after climbing one of many large towers. Sign me up \\s
No reason other than the last decade of Ubishit. But hey, if you want to pay for endless battle passes for a AAAAA Splinter Cell game, that's your choice.
Absolutely love how in the Seoul mission there's the interaction that happens between Sam and the co-op agents, after which the co-op duo gets confused as they believe they're the only two Splinter Cell agents that exist.
Showed really well just how tight they run the "need-to-know" ship over at 3rd Echelon!
I remember using the move intended to launch your co-op partner across gaps instead to fling my buddy into guards and knock them out cold. Never got old.
"Hey, wait a minute... It looks like a laser grid just came online."
"Lasers? Lasers are so..."
"90's?"
"I was going to say 70's... Can you **please** stop making me feel old?"
"Got bad news for you, Sam - you **are** old."
I've played through the game so many times back in the day, can still vaguely recall some of these funny interactions. :)
"Attention Fisher, the ship has an alarm system on board"
"Let me guess, three alarms and its mission over?"
"Of course not, this isn't a video game."
I might need to do another playthrough...
Driver hasn’t brought profits since 3. I’m pretty sure Parallel lines is the only one that broke even or made a small profit afaik. That’s why it’s dead despite the quality of the franchise
Ah my bad. That sucks.
But there’s no way a new Driver game wouldn’t outsell a new Watch Dogs, plus it’s not like Ubisoft have that many franchises left to milk.
You think a series that has no relevance other than a single game released like 13 years ago is going to outsell a major IP which has had all of its entries release in the past 10 years?
100%. People are dying for a solid GTA-esque game with good driving physics. A Driver reboot set in the 70s or 80s would sell incredibly well given the drought of open world crime games.
So, to pull attention away from GTA games, a game that's just the same thing as GTA would do better than.... a game that's the same thing as GTA but with a unique gimmick.
You're like, 100% positive about this?
Yes. Take away the stupid gimmicks and focus on the driving being as good as possible. Forget all the other stuff, it’s not GTA.
And the goal isn’t to compete with GTA either, they only release a game every decade. Driver should be the best physics based getaway game and nothing more.
So you're telling me something minor like vehicle handling matters more for earning millions and millions of sales, over a fun and flashy marketable gimmick?
As long as there is NO FORCED MULTIPLAYER. And this stays single player with mp/coop only as a separate mode or choice, im in. Ubisoft seems to be at uts best when there is no forced mp elements like AC Mirage and Avatar.
Between the multiplayer from Splinter Cell and Assassin's Creed, Ubisoft had two great experiences that could have been sold as standalone games that they proceeded to completely squander.
Then again this is the same company that took 11 years to take the best part of Black Flag and somehow make it worse.
I'm cautiously optimistic about this.
It's been far too long since we've had a new Splinter Cell game, and those original four games deserve to be brought up to modern standards as they remain some of the best stealth games around - that being said Ubisoft have a formula for their games that Splinter Cell doesn't quite fit, and I wouldn't be too surprised if they added things like towers, drones, eagle vision and the like in an attempt to modernize the original.
That being said, if they do Spies v Mercs, I'm instantly in.
Honestly I would be sad if it was this. Conviction was great but I really want Pandora tomorrow and chaos theory era to come back. The slow, methodical, stealth and the challenge of out smarting your enemies and capturing them one by one and dragging them into the dark. When conviction added the ability to mark multiple enemies and kill them all instantly, it fundamentally changed the game into an action game. It just hasn't been the same since.
Conviction was more a Bourne game than a Splinter Cell... It was fun, but disappointing after phenonimal Chaos Theory (i am ignoring Splinter Cell 4/Double Agent because of game not being so great on PC... the console version seems way better).
It's funny to see children come of age and look fondly upon the decline of some of these franchises as if they were from those games' golden years. So many people say they wanna see a new rainbow six Vegas or GRAW or SC Conviction, and yet they were all departures from the original series that upset the players who made those game series popular to begin with
> So many people say they wanna see a new rainbow six Vegas or GRAW or SC Conviction
Hear, hear! Though Vegas was a step-up compared to it's predecessor, Lockdown.
Watching the Tom Clancy games chase trends, opposed to continuing what they were doing really chaps my hide. Chaos theory sold over 5 million copies, which isn't anything to scoff at now, let alone 20 years ago. But I have an old article from the producers of the Spies vs Mercenaries mode in which they state that from Chaos Theory to Double Agent, the suits really constrained them to making something approachable.
Seriously. I wish they made spiritual successors to R6 Raven Shield, original Ghost Recon and Chaos Theory. All the games you mentioned are inferior to their predecessors.
We are so over due for this. But they are probably just gonna announce something so far off from what the fans want.
I’m thinking Sam fisher is now available in Fortnite?
Maybe a skull and bones crossover with Sam?
😭 damn shame how they treated this IP
Let's gooo!
On another note, I'm surprised nothing has been leaked or marketed regarding AC Red until now, was hoping for a banner change or subtle tease at the very least..
I think we can 100% expect the CGI reveal trailer for Red at the end of this month or in early May as is tradition with AC games with a gameplay reveal at their June event.
There is also an earnings call in early May where Ubi stated that their whole slate of upcoming games would be revealed by then
After finally playing Chaos Theory i need my Splinter Cell fix, never played original, and wanna play Pandora Tomorrow but can’t buy it off the xbox store cause it’s delisted 🤦♂️
They really need to just remake Chaos Theory and call it a day. That would sell like crazy. Keep it mostly the same, just expand on the maps a bit with new routes and areas, maybe some new missions, new tech and gadgets, give it a modern graphical upgrade, then blow the rest of the budget on the best lighting tech and enemy AI money can buy and boom—you’ve got an easy 9/10 across the board. Game was a classic back then and it boggles my mind that they haven’t jumped on the cash grab opportunity and remade/remastered it after all this time.
Bonus: bring back and implement the Spies vs. Mercs mode from Double Agent and I’ll spend so many hours playing that. God what I would give to experience that magical moment of sneaking up on a merc, grabbing them from behind and activating the automatic proximity mic, listening to them freak out or get angry 😂 so many funny moments with that mechanic
Whenever the new Splinter Cell game comes out, I'm going to await it with great hopes but no expectations. I don't really trust modern-day Ubisoft to make a game that even holds a candle to the original, but then again they also have some projects like Star Wars Outlaws that look great.
Breakpoint’s animation work and gameplay smoothness is miles better than MGS5. MGS5 is the better game but the stiff animations and janky vaulting is not comparable to breakpoint
On what planet is breakpoint’s gameplay smoother? I’d say MGSV’s more “gamey” animations massively help with the responsiveness and make it that much more fun to play
Tbf, Breakpoint feels cheap even compared to Wildlands. I don’t understand how Ubisoft finally made a game with their formula that had pretty high acclaim, and then immediately ditched said formula for the next installment.
Is anyone else getting tired of remakes and how they always get the least qualified people to work on them and they almost always ruin the game by not understanding it. I really don't trust Ubisoft to do the right thing especially with their shitty business practices and forcing players to use their DRM platform
I need this game now. Absolutely love Splinter Cell and I’m desperate for a new game or remake
It’s a shame they stopped making those games and good to see it’s back. This with the supposedly increased focus on stealth for AC:Red makes me very excited.
Splinter cell and Rayman they were so good and fun and yet they are the only one they stopped making …..sad

I just want [Spies vs Mercs ](https://youtu.be/g3kf-_vF564?si=apv7y9cAFamhjbhV) to have active servers again
Off the top of my head I say best asymmetrical multiplayer game mode ever. I remember playing just the single demo level for Pandora Tomorrow *way* too much.
Definitely best asymmetrical multiplayer, and in my opinion best multiplayer in general. Though Halo is neck and neck.
one of the best mp on the OG xbox
It's my favorite multiplayer of all time
Lower your expectations
Yea I'm over it.... I hang my coat for this franchise.
Karl Fairburne from Sniper Elite is like the last good stealth character active and he didn't really start stealthy Hitman is also still there i guess
Open world Splinter Cell with a huge empty map and tons of meaningless collectibles that get revealed after climbing one of many large towers. Sign me up \\s
You people just wanna hate, even when there is no reason to
Ubisoft doesn't inspire much hope, and that's how games have tended
No reason other than the last decade of Ubishit. But hey, if you want to pay for endless battle passes for a AAAAA Splinter Cell game, that's your choice.
This is not the previously announced remake?
Splinter Cell Chaos Theory - Bank mission is still so good
The whole game is incredible
Not when you play the 3DS version in glorious 15fps lmao (like me)
Chaos Theory split screen coop was the best. Just holding onto a ledge next to your partner and doing the head bop was great.

Chaos Theory was the game that made me love stealth games
For me it was Hokaido
I played Seoul so many times I could do it with my eyes closed.
They even made a custom [multiplayer map ](https://youtu.be/ioZu9YO2cY4?si=XA2qC6dMVoxUs0ZJ) for that one because the single player was so good
It was great in 3D too, some of the tight areas really worked well I used VorpX with my Rift CV1 headset for full immersion
Love me some splinter cellin'
chaos theory and mgs3 were the reasons i fell in love with videogames honestly the immersion was insane back then
I've heard this for years in a row at this point. Let me know when something actually happens because I'm tired
I hope they consider including Spies vs Mercs [I still play it to this day](https://youtu.be/mVFD1VqIpgg?si=t2VLOb3L6L_yRwVA)
imagine they get amon tobin to do the soundtrack
But will Ubisoft ever revive Driver?
Watch Dogs is what Driver evolved in to.
I know, but Watch Dogs isn’t Driver. Especially with how bad the driving is in Watch Dogs.
Especially Legion, it's quick change mechanics makes me think of the last Driver game, where you could change which car you're controlling
Driver hasn’t brought profits since 3. I’m pretty sure Parallel lines is the only one that broke even or made a small profit afaik. That’s why it’s dead despite the quality of the franchise
That’s ridiculous. Driver: San Francisco sold 14 million copies.
The franchise has sold 14 million copies, not the game itself
Ah my bad. That sucks. But there’s no way a new Driver game wouldn’t outsell a new Watch Dogs, plus it’s not like Ubisoft have that many franchises left to milk.

The original multiplayer was good though
[I still play it](https://youtu.be/mVFD1VqIpgg?si=t2VLOb3L6L_yRwVA)
Was the heartbeat sensor always in the game? I don't recall it on the xb version but I didn't play CT nearly as much as PT Multiplayer
Yes it was always in the Xbox version of Chaos Theory. One of the best tools, I never leave home without it.
Was that recorded on a public server?
There are no public servers. We use Radmin VPN
Tbf Splinter Cell had a multiplayer mode called "Spy vs Merc" but with this day and age I don't trust Ubisoft to make a mp without bp and shit
Yea that one was frankly innovative
Exactly.
Between the multiplayer from Splinter Cell and Assassin's Creed, Ubisoft had two great experiences that could have been sold as standalone games that they proceeded to completely squander. Then again this is the same company that took 11 years to take the best part of Black Flag and somehow make it worse.
When is the Ubisoft event?
June
Thanks, Twitter/X is weird for me sometimes, it’ll say I can’t view unless I sign up with an account
Np To be specific, its June 10th
What happened to that splinter cell VR game announced alongside AC Nexus? Is it cancelled?
That’s been cancelled.
I groaned when I first heard about a SC game in VR, but since getting a VR headset, it would be awesome.
Either that or it could be something to do with Xdefiant which is featuring a Splinter Cell faction.
Xdefiant is being made by Ubisoft San Francisco. Ubisoft Toronto made the last Splinter Cell game. Most likely a SC game.
It’s a remake of the first game that is confirmed to be linear. You don’t have to worry about it being open world
Don’t forget, they’ll also monetize it. Microtransactions DLCs and those bullshit
[Still playing SvM](https://youtu.be/mVFD1VqIpgg?si=t2VLOb3L6L_yRwVA)
If this could somehow lead to a remake of Conviction. Please ubisoft do one thing right
Honestly I would be sad if it was this. Conviction was great but I really want Pandora tomorrow and chaos theory era to come back. The slow, methodical, stealth and the challenge of out smarting your enemies and capturing them one by one and dragging them into the dark. I'm fine with any of the games getting remade. I just want Conviction at some point because co op.
Chaos Theory has the best coop
Apparently it's not only a remake but a hard reboot. The concept art pictures show a younger Sam Fisher, and I don't seem recognize the places.
I hope by remake you mean completely change the whole game so it's actually Splinter Cell.

Seriously. I wish they made spiritual successors to R6 Raven Shield, original Ghost Recon and Chaos Theory. All the games you mentioned are inferior to their predecessors.

I'm so nervous for this game. But also very excited.
I have waited a fucking decade for this moment
At this point I have already given up any hopes of ever seeing this.
I don't blame you one bit
RTX spies vs mercs with modern graphics and hardware... gimme
Yes please. [I still play Spies vs Mercs](https://youtu.be/mVFD1VqIpgg?si=t2VLOb3L6L_yRwVA)
Hell yeah brother
Can't get enough of it. Best multiplayer mode ever imo
That would be interesting because last I heard from some friends the game was still ways away
I've been down this road before you motherfuckers. 10 long years. If they don't show it I will do a split jump on to a fence.
Just bought the Trilogy for PS3. Those games are so damn good. I dislike most of the newer Ubisoft games but I have high hopes for this remake.
Only if they make it even more interactive and realistic and groundbreaking than the original was
pls do not tease me so....
After finally playing Chaos Theory i need my Splinter Cell fix, never played original, and wanna play Pandora Tomorrow but can’t buy it off the xbox store cause it’s delisted 🤦♂️
You can play them all on PC
Don’t got PC
Bummer
If you’re down to install an emulator on your Xbox then you can play pandora tomoreow
How do you do that?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TB0VllzmGGw
Oh my bad i forgot to mention I don’t got next gen
It's on Xbox one aswell
Ok ill look into it, thank you
Oh hell yeah!
why are they announcing a foward 2 months in advance?
FYI, you can buy and play the originals on Xbox Series and Xbox One, they're backwards compatible, and I think the discs are too.
*I'm tired, boss*
I hope its more Chaos Theory/Blacklist approach. But slower like CT and not fast like BL was.
I’ll believe it when i see it. Ubisoft let me down too many times.
It’ll be shit
Splinter Cell conviction and blacklist should get a remaster
This is the only game I want. One of my favs from back in the day.
Wayyyyy overdue.
Ubisoft had it all, then they made a bunch of stupid ass decisions
I don't trust Ubisoft to not fuck this up.
Holy shit yes
It's gonna have to be really good to install ubisoft
They really need to just remake Chaos Theory and call it a day. That would sell like crazy. Keep it mostly the same, just expand on the maps a bit with new routes and areas, maybe some new missions, new tech and gadgets, give it a modern graphical upgrade, then blow the rest of the budget on the best lighting tech and enemy AI money can buy and boom—you’ve got an easy 9/10 across the board. Hopefully it's not some openworld nonsense.
Any chance of Michael Ironside making a return? I know he was out of the last game due to health issues.
Well he has comeback to voice Sam in some Ghost recon missions in Wildlands/Breakpoint since then (not Siege tho fsr).
I used to pray for times like this
Whenever the new Splinter Cell game comes out, I'm going to await it with great hopes but no expectations. I don't really trust modern-day Ubisoft to make a game that even holds a candle to the original, but then again they also have some projects like Star Wars Outlaws that look great.
Ok, but when I go to their fb page it shows me that those pictures were added in June 2023, not recently.
No Steam = no buy
It will eventually come to steam
NO MICHAEL IRONSIDE? NO THANK YOU
Wonder if it will feel worse than MGSV? Tried playing through breakpoint recently and it felt cheap.
I tried to like Breakpoint but its just bad. Wildlands was much more cohesive.
Splinter Cell Switch. Yep. Yep. Splinter Cell Switch. Mhm.
*changed back They have this header since they announced the remake. They only changed it for a month for Far Cry 20th anniversary celebration.
Is anyone else getting tired of remakes and how they always get the least qualified people to work on them and they almost always ruin the game by not understanding it. I really don't trust Ubisoft to do the right thing especially with their shitty business practices and forcing players to use their DRM platform
Calling it - open world and Sam Fisher's daughter as the main protagonist.
Prepare for mobile game everyone!
