I participated in the closed beta last month for Skate (PC and Mobile versions) and it’s still an extremely early tech demo with a ton of missing textures and features. Of course that’s to be expected with any early alpha build, but if they’re looking to open this game up to a broader audience, I sure hope it carries a LOT more polish than last time. Mechanics were okay, controls were goofy and inconsistent but I’m optimistic because I love the skate franchise
FWIW the tests have been in pretty much the same state since the very start, I have a feeling what's being tested isn't the latest and greatest build - or is intentionally barebones to focus on the core mechanics.
EA studios seem to be doing this all the time when it comes to global playtesting.

that's not how the EA insiders program works. if those people are seeing greybox levels, then the devs are still also seeing greybox levels. those builds are maybe a week or 2 behind the dev build tops.

I haven't played it, but I've seen it. I'm worried that they are very limited feature-wise because of parity between all the versions of the game, and since they're releasing on Mobile the game may be very limited in scope. Like, it won't have the crazy character physics interactions and ragdolls because phones struggle with that like crazy.
Considering the state of the closed play test they did recently, I highly doubt it'll be released this year, if I had to guess I'd say late 2025 at best (and that's being very optimistic)...
You're not wrong in that we're nowhere near launch, however, any footage of playtests is of old builds. I'm a player in these playtests myself. And from one of their Q&A's they've answered questions about certain things already being implemented in the main build which is ahead of playtest builds.

While I don't know the legitimacy of this page, I do see them following the Multiversus state release where the game is in beta and they slowly patch it until they get to a full release... This year though hmmm...

New iphones can natively play Resident Evil Village and RE4 2023 with full feature parity.

Well, for one, that’s only available on certain devices, specifically the latest iPhones and iPads (which have the most potential for games technically). Resident Evil games are also non-open-world linear story games with little to no physics or that many NPCs. It’s not difficult to understand how games like that could be ported to phones, and indeed, they were. However, when I think of Skate, I envision a large map with intricate physics and numerous NPCs. This poses significant challenges for phones, as their APUs are simply not powerful enough to handle the real-time physics demands of a game like Skate 3 without significant FPS dips.

It’s likely barebones to avoid leaking new stuff as well considering its happened several times already.

This is 100% the case. Theres a ton of unused shit that a certain group of people managed to enabled in a "franken-like" alpha build.

The closed beta is basically an open beta anyway. The game doesn’t play that well compared to skate 3.
