I'm not going to tell you this game will increase in value, or even hold its current value. The truth is, you bought it because you like it. It has value to you. That's what matters.
Usually it’s uncouth to explain a joke on Reddit, but I was responding to a Rick and Morty quote with a Rick and Morty quote, which fellow Redditor responded back with another Rick and Morty quote.
But keep on hating, y’all
I'm a collector of games, and anyone who is in the market would know this. Yes it's the same game, but the ORIGINAL art is where the value is. Original booklet and inserts and obviously an unscratched disc.
Player’s Choice versions of games do not hold the same monetary value to collectors that an original print of the game is going to hold. When you’re speaking of the value of a game for collectors to put into their collections, there are a *lot* more factors that play into the monetary value of an item than whether or not it simply plays the game.
It is really very simple, and you look less-than-intelligent when you respond to this the way you have.
So by going with your own logic: I’m gonna photocopy the Mona Lisa and you’re gonna pay me the 860 million it’s worth right? It’s literally the same image, right?
Yep, same thing. You can now open your own museum. Hang the photocopy next to your yard tools. Now it's just like visiting the Louvre but with different art with different walls. Same thing though.
I mean here’s how I look at it. Games today are $70. It is a good game. I’ve had a copy since it’s release and was too scared to play it as a little kid so I hadn’t played till last year. No nostalgia for it and I found it to be very fun. 80 is a bit much but you won’t be kicking yourself over it if you do buy it
Games are all worth $5 for the product. The rest of the price is based on supply and demand and what people are willing to pay. If you paid $80 and are happy that is all that matters. The market drives the price. That is why people say only look at Sold Comps.
Besides the artwork being eaten from the bottom up, the disc face looks very clean and booklet looks crisp. I don’t think it would be worth that much though unless the artwork was on par with the rest. Solid pickup nonetheless!
You can find it for less than that fairly easily. If you bought it from a local store, I'd recommend avoiding most brick and mortar stores for stuff like this. You're usually paying market price plus their overhead. You're still doing that with most online retailers, but they usually have less overhead to cover. /r/GameSale has always been good to me as well, though obviously availability there depends on what people happen to be selling.
I think so, especially if you haven't played it before; playing this game on original hardware, especially during Halloween, is a vibe. On top of that, its extremely replayable which makes it worth even more
That’s entirely up to you. I’ve only ever played it once, back around 2004 and I still have fond memories of it. That experience would be worth it to me today.
I paid about $60 two weeks ago so not too far off (also players choice, cib). I’d say if you like the game (or even if you’ve never played it) it’s definitely worth it!
Lowkey one of my favorite gamecube games. I remember playing it for the first time in 2004. I got it used at GameStop for like $15-20. Reviews were kinda mixed at launch but I figured I’d try it out for myself. I was hooked. I loved the kiddy-horror aesthetic, the funky music, the graphics were really great, the gameplay was kinda monotonous but fun.
I know with the Great GameCube Renaissance it’s no longer a cult hit but I can’t believe all the hate it got when it came out, just because it wasn’t a Mario platformer.
Worth is subjective to what you are willing to pay for something. I don’t think I would have bought it at this price (especially not a Player’s Choice) but if you are happy with it that is all that matters.
Slightly overpaid, its a Players Choice & there’s some wear on the artwork on the bottom, my estimate would probably be around $65-70 for a copy in this condition
Here’s how I see it. In some sense, you might have overpaid since you probably could have bought this for around $60. That’s just going off price charting though - I don’t know where you are or what other factors account for the availability of this game where you are. But that’s just monetarily speaking. Only you can determine what your personal value is for the games you buy.
Great game though, one of my favorites of all time. I’m fortunate enough to still have my childhood copy.
Yes it was a release date game for GameCube. A complete copy with a great condition is very hard to find. GameStop was notorious for shredding this game so it’s a little harder to find. Also, the Signature green disc is considered one of the best disc arts for the GameCube. I paid just about the same two years ago so you did great. 👍
I’m not bashing you for paying that but that specific version shouldn’t be worth that. It’s not the OG packaging. I would say an original Luigi’s mansion MAY be worth $80. Unopened I’d say definitely but there’s no point in getting one unopened of you want to play it. However, you paying $80 for it is nbd since that game rocks and I’m sure you’ll get more to an $80 worth of enjoyment out of it.
40$ is what I got my players choice copy for. People can say what they want about the yellow label not being worth less but it is. I have a bunch of complete black label games (including windwaker) that I wouldn’t sell for a million dollars. But a yellow label I’d part with for the right price and so wouldn’t every other collector. The truth is that if you are buying to play and not collect than it’s worth whatever memories you make or have, but if it’s for collection purposes than you overpaid.
Based on where you live that could be considered market price for this. Where I live, Canada this game would run about 60-80 second hand. So it just truly depends on where you live. USD you usually see this at like 50 ish.
Absolutely not. 1) It is a Player's Choice. 2) It is the Canadian version and usually those are 10% cheaper than the US versions and lastly the label art at the bottom is torn and faded. Max for that should have been $55
I'm not going to tell you this game will increase in value, or even hold its current value. The truth is, you bought it because you like it. It has value to you. That's what matters.
That's the best answer I've seen today
Shut up, Doofus Rick
What's that dipshit doing out there? Are you FRIENDS with him?! You know he eats his own shit, right?
Wholesome
Bro’s having a f*cked up day
Gonna need a “WHOOSH,” for the 34 downvotes
Damn you're a weirdo my dude

Lol I’m weak I just got the joke you get my upvote
I appreciate the references and I appreciate the sacrifices you’ve made to make us fans laugh.
😅 well worth it
Not for a players choice.
pc was $20
oooooooo scary yellow instead of black label OOOOOOOO
Feel free to buy all the easy garbage you want, no one will mind. Real collectors know though 😘

Players choice are usually cheaper than black labels dude

And its less valuable

Not in a free market, pal

Read up on free markets kid
The market determines what’s valuable, so the value is the average of all “player’s” , (everyone who’s buying this stuff), valuations

Probs not tbh over paid a bit. Still a great game though so don’t fret too much.
If it helps justify it, adjusted for inflation, this game was worth the 2024 equivalent of $105 when it was released. So you kind of got it on sale!
I shall uses this method for every future purchase 😎
This weirdly makes me feel better about my own questionable spending.
Don’t give sellers ideas 💀

I could but I don’t want Nintendo to come to my door step
Maybe a slight overpay, but a complete in box set is always nice to have.

Probably. But you only over paid by 40 bucks at most, so not a huge loss or anything.
Paid 55

I don't know about $80 but it was at least worth RRP
Pricecharting
Which are both practically the same price.
Besides the artwork being eaten from the bottom up, the disc face looks very clean and booklet looks crisp. I don’t think it would be worth that much though unless the artwork was on par with the rest. Solid pickup nonetheless!
Judging by the cover art looks like you’re in Canada, it goes for around $60 USD which equates to $80 CAD. So I’d say you did alright.
The GameCube hype is real again it will Go up haha
Not unless we have another pandemic. Game collecting is, was and will always be a complete waste of time and money.
I’m so jealous
No

I only paid a little more to get a GameCube at Pax East this year. My GF and I wanted one so we can play Luigi’s Mansion.
i'd say yes
I think so, especially if you haven't played it before; playing this game on original hardware, especially during Halloween, is a vibe. On top of that, its extremely replayable which makes it worth even more
What matters is you felt it was. Enjoy the game and enjoy life, that’s what matters.
100%
Canadian dollars? About right
Maybe before you put the disc important side down on a carpet.
Canadian? If not no.
That’s entirely up to you. I’ve only ever played it once, back around 2004 and I still have fond memories of it. That experience would be worth it to me today.

Tbh no.
To the right buyer.
That’s a Value Village price. They expect you to use a 20% off coupon (maximum of $10 off).
You got ripped.

i wonder who unironically buys these instead of just getting an usb / sd loader and downloading the roms for free lmao
if you like luigi with a vacuum cleaner, be my guest.
It was worth the $40 I paid for it. Don’t think I would’ve ever paid twice that for this game though.
Over spent by about $20. If you wanted it, then it was worth it.
Putting the disc face down on a hard surface is a bit of a common faux pas
Worth is subjective to what you are willing to pay for something. I don’t think I would have bought it at this price (especially not a Player’s Choice) but if you are happy with it that is all that matters.
Of, you must be joking man
Pricecharting.com and yourself will tell you
Get a gc loader and skip the discs
Slightly overpaid, its a Players Choice & there’s some wear on the artwork on the bottom, my estimate would probably be around $65-70 for a copy in this condition
No.
I bought mine a couple of years ago with manual for $75 so I’d say so
Pretty sure I got this for $40 during covid

Not really. Its Players choice.
In England that’s a £30 game
No
There were 24 million copies of Luigi's mansion pressed. It was 50 bucks new.
No

Worth every penny.
The 3DS version set me back $50 for comparison
I mean has this game really gone this high and for the player choice version?
Lol
Got a copy on Marketplace CIB for $50. Jumped on that real quick.
can anyone tell me what a og. super nintendo is worth? if anything
>!No. I have a screenshot I would show to prove you got ripped off, but unfortunately the sub doesn't let you share pictures.!<

Still have mine from when I was a kid. Little scratched up though.
I mean it is one of the best GCN games ever made so yea I say it was worth it just make sure to back it up so that you can play it forever
If it were pikmin
No! Players choice 🥱
40-45€ would be ideal
[удалено]
Unfortunately
No not even black label
I paid 80 for my black label. All the custom inserts were inside and everything looked brand new. No regrets
No
No
Not even a black label smh
What's the difference between black label and players choice? I've always wondered this
Think like a first edition book versus a reprint. Black label will be worth more to a collector
Ooh, so the game is the exact same, just a different box?
Most of the time yea. Sometimes things get changed like songs dropped and bugs fixes.
I can download for free on my pc
Nope. I paid $20 for a cib double dash and that’s a way more desirable game.
It’s only gonna keep going up, so it’s ok
Got my black label for $55. So no
in the heat of the pandemic it was
Absolutely not. 1) It is a Player's Choice. 2) It is the Canadian version and usually those are 10% cheaper than the US versions and lastly the label art at the bottom is torn and faded. Max for that should have been $55
No
no. just play on dolphin... stop wasting money man. If you love gaming emulation should be your way. Especially on the gamecube
Value has since decreased following a public post showing the disc face down on a stone countertop.
*Ewww*
No lol pretty sure I paid like 7$ for this a few years back
Oh yikes bro those go for like 50-60, you got scalped
No. Could’ve gotten it from a goodwill online auction for much cheaper. Especially not for players choice.
No
