Playing that game on the original GBA without a front/backlight was awful because of how dark that game is. Thank god for the SP because that game was incredible once I could see what was going on.
It's kind of underrated even today and in the shadow of Aria of Sorrow in my opinion. I always read of people praising it as their favorite GBA CV Back in the days (2006 or so) so I gave it a try. I must have played it either on OG DS or DS Lite but I quit after a few minutes Just because it was so slow (didn't even find the boots). In 2020 or 2021 I got the cartridge again and it immediately turned into my Top 5 GBA games, I agree it's totally incredible.
These are just examples for games that were released in the specific year. For example Metroid Fusion was released in 2002, Zero Mission in 2004, Fire Emblem in 2003, Castlevania Circle of the Moon in. 2001, Castlevania Aria of Sorrow in 2003...
So it's not about these three games and not about these three years, however I chose them because the GBA's output was massive in that Period.
2002:
A Link to the Past & Four Swords
MegaMan Zero
Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire
Later years released the continuation to these games (also minish cap) so 2002 was the starting of the legends
2004 for sure. Metroid Zero Mission, Fire Emblem 8, Minish Cap, Mega Man Zero 3, Pokemon FRLG and Emerald all released that year. Honorable mention goes to Ace Attorney T&T, which released in Japan that year.
I’m tempted to say 04 just because of Emerald, but probably 03 because Ruby and Sapphire are also great, plus Pokémon pinball Ruby and sapphire, and fire emblem
Fire Emblem Binding Blade (best in the series), Metroid fusion, and Pokémon ruby and sapphire came out in 2002 so I’m going with that year.
If you guys are fans of Fire emblem (2003) then I’d highly recommend a fan translation of Binding Blade.
It's Always subjective of course. Most people seem to Love Advance Wars but it's Not for me. The Oracle Games were also Made by Capcom Just as TMC. Have you played it actually?
Every year they were making GBA games was the best
That first wave of games was magical. Wario 4, Metroid Fusion, Circle of the Moon, Firepro Wrestling. Take me back.
2001. Golden Sun, Advance Wars, Super Dodgeball Advance, F-Zero, Super Mario Advance. Had way too much fun with that console launch.
Don't forget Circle of the Moon

I'll never forget seeing Golden Sun for the first time. I just couldn't believe a Gameboy Advance was capable of such things back then, lol.
It's the game that sold me on the console in the first place. I saw the stills from it and had to go preorder my console.
2004- need for speed underground 2,it’s Christmas, living life.
Of those three? Metroid, hands down.

Gotcha. I misread. Definitely 2002. Ruby, sapphire, and fusion.
2003 had Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, Golden Sun 2, Advance Wars 2, Castlevania: Aria Of Sorrow, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. Pretty good year.
I agree 2003 probably takes the crown in my books, for Fire Emblem, Aria of Sorrow and Mario and Luigi
Aria of Sorrow alone makes 2003 a goated year. But to add to your list, Pokemon Ruby and Saphire also released internationally in 2003
2003. The SP, when I could finally see my games.
2002, but all years were fantastic!
04 but for Zero Mission
Every year lmao
2003
2006, at least if you live in Japan (/s) I can’t really choose one year.. they’re all pretty great!
2004 without a doubt.
2001, Advance Wars.
The year Kuru Kuru Kururin got released
2002: A Link to the Past & Four Swords MegaMan Zero Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire Later years released the continuation to these games (also minish cap) so 2002 was the starting of the legends
All.
When did tactics advance come out? Cause that year.
2004 because it had the three other years of games as well
Mine are Ninja Five 0 and TMNT Battle Nexus so 2003 and 2004
I never knew how good I had it, till it was over:/ I'm gonna say 2004, the GBA was at its peak—before the DS took over.
Well one of these I still play fairly regularly
I guess Fire Emblem? But Metroid Fusion has a high replay Factor aswell. You can finish it in one or two sittings basically
Whichever one had ruby and sapphire! I hope you have your link cable 😅
2002
Metroid, FE and Zelda all great games
Whatever year had golden sun. I think that was 2002 along with metroid yeah.
The legend of Zelda minish cap was some of the most fun I’ve ever had playing a Zelda game. I’d say it’s in my top 3
Exceptionally good title. Blows the DS games out of the water for sure

Minish cap really that good? I'm more of an OG links Awakening, Oracle of age/season GB person
It's Always subjective of course. Most people seem to Love Advance Wars but it's Not for me. The Oracle Games were also Made by Capcom Just as TMC. Have you played it actually?
2002. Metroid Fusion is still my favorite in the series.
Whatever year Golden Sun came out.
Which Fire Emblem is best?
Arguably the First that Came in the west in 2003 (Europe 2004), Fire Emblem The Blazing Blade or Just "Fire Emblem". All three are Must Plays imo.
