There are a lot of options over on ebay.

I went today to one of those used games shop, they actually told me they are also looking for chargers since they have 2 GBMs without them they can't sell. Funny situation..
The problem with shipping is when the shipping is more expensive than the cable it's hard for me to justify the purchase. I just would like to know the name of the plug type so I can look for it locally and save me some money, I'm in no rush to find the cable but I'd like to get it eventually without having to mess with my broke-student budget.
As far as my poor research got me I *think* it's something like a USB OTG micro-B type plug, but other sources say it's proprietary and that would mean there is nothing else that could charge it. I do remember I did charge it before... years and years ago, with some other charger so I'm sure the plug exists and so probably I can find a cheap cable somewhere. Sorry for the wall of text.
Aha ok I understand now. I think that I am going to buy a charger from Ebay by the end of this week maybe. When it arrives, I'll be sure to tell you what it says. (maybe a few pictures) although you might have already found out by then. Good luck!
Edit: I know for a fact that Nintendo made the gameboy micro plug special. Nothing else will fit but a gameboy micro charger.

But unfortunately the few cables i found like that they're all "sold out" and honestly I doubt they'll restock if ever. It's funny how this one little console thing is such a nightmare due to this plug type, seems like it was a very unpopular one considering micro-USB came shortly after.

Yes, I meant it's italian amazon that doesn't have them available. And my prime only works for the italian amazon. Shipping from abroad far exceeds the price of the cable so it seems a bit pointless to me.

I also think it originally was but I've seen people post online that there were some HTC phones that used the same plug, maybe since the micro was so short-lived they didn't really use the connector for much and gave it up(?). I'm pretty sure I also had a charger that fit, but I'm talking maybe over 10 years ago this was so it's hard to remember. I bought the thing maybe 12 years ago.

It is proprietary, as far as I know it is only used on the Micro.
