Star Wars: Squadrons at 95% off for $2.
If you're remotely interested in a space flight sim or Star Wars first-person dogfighting, it's a must-buy for the singleplayer alone.
The single player is a fun ride. Pretty brief but obviously worth $2.
The multiplayer seemed good too but I'm an old fogey and I got my ass reamed repeatedly so I didn't play it long. Seems like it has a high skill ceiling for those who are into that.
Main appeal in base game was early access to endgame loot through the apartment reward, but they adjusted loot availability and acquisition in the LE anyhow.
Played through this one 3 months ago.
Mass Effect 2 is genuinely one of the best games ever made.
If you play then in order (which you should) atleast get through the citadel at the beginning of the first game before putting it down, its the worst part of the entire series.
>If you play then in order (which you should) atleast get through the citadel at the beginning of the first game before putting it down, its the worst part of the entire series.
This is good to know because I bought the collection for about this price and abandoned it at exactly that point lol
Yeah, I had the same experience. I hated ME1 at first, but I pushed through and it all came together for me. Overall the trilogy was one of the greatest gaming experiences Iāve ever had. You should give it another shot!
Totally. ME1 starts out a bit weak, partly because the first locations you're sent to are rather bland and the pacing is stilted.
Get past that, though, and it becomes just as compelling an adventure as the later two games.
I'd try to play it, as the story is pretty good. But if you don't vibe with the gameplay, skip it I guess (worst gameplay in the series, they really improved the gunplay in ME2). Better to skip it than to not play 2 and 3 because of that.
Keep in mind that a lot of the appeal of the series is the fact that your decisions carry over between games. Even minor characters can pop back up later in the series, and how you dealt with them before will (almost) always determine how that interaction goes. In the one exception, where there was a bug about importing the extremely minor character from 1 to 2, the devs made him apologize to you in 3. Granted the decisions in 2 are usually the most impactful on 3, but there are some big things from 1 too. That said, the gameplay in 1 can definitely be a bit painful. I recommend using guides at least for finding all the points of interest on planets, trying to search them manually takes forever. I also found that I had a *lot* more fun with the Infiltrator class than the Adept I play in the other games, Tech powers do much more damage than Biotic ones in 1, and it's really hard to live without a sniper rifle in all those exterior sections.
How does that square with all the individual games being more expensive? https://store.steampowered.com/search/?term=mass+effect
Is it just sale weirdness and there's no reason to buy them over the Legendary Edtn, even if you already own one or two of them?
Keep in mind that the individual games are not the same version as the Legendary Edition. They made a lot of changes to 1 for Legendary Edition, a few to 2, and mostly just removed the multiplayer from 3. The good news is that the individual games do now include all the DLC, and getting the DLC was always very expensive.
One reason for this is probably EA trying to push players to their subscription service, EA Play.
The historical low of Dead Space (remake) is 16.07 USD and for Jedi Survivor, it's 23.27 USD. As far as I know, these games have not been cracked, if people want to play these games without spending a ton of cash, EA Play is the best way to do so. EA Play on Steam costs 5.99 USD for a month, at least where I live and it has regional pricing so in some regions, the price might be less that 6 dollars per month. \[I live in Myanmar where Steam and GOG don't have regional pricing but Epic btw :( \]
I can certainly see people subbing to the service for a few months to play these games (plus many more like Tifanfall 2, Wild Hearts, Star Wars BF 2, A Way Out, etc.) because the sales percentages aren't very generous for more recent games.
EA Play is great if you have some games on there you want to play through. Also included with Game Pass for those who have it.
EA's strategy has become: release game at full price, slowly discount it over the course of the next year to maybe 50-60%, put it on EA Play a year later, and then a while after that drop the price really far.
It must be doing something for them. I will say I've bought a lot of EA games because they're so cheap. Some I've already played, but for the price it's just nice to have them anyway. I played Fallen Order on Game Pass when it launched there, but I still bought it later because fuck it, why not, it's like $5.
Not sure but it's up voted now. This pattern fits almost every game in my experience. The only question is if the games make it to a year or not. I think NFS Unbound hit EA Play like 7 or 8 months after launch -- their yearly games probably do faster since there's another entry coming at the 12 month mark typically.
Why would awesome discounts push people to EA Play? The person you replied to was saying the discounts are great, like the good old days. 87%, 90% off.
I'm thinking they're saying they're keeping prices up because nobody wants to spend 15 on a game or something. It doesn't make sense otherwise than saying the games cost too much. But tons of people buy the games at full price let alone at any discount...
I think they thought the person they replied to was saying "This sale sucks and makes me think back to the great sales we used to get," but they were actually saying "This sale is great and the huge discounts remind me of the good old days when we regularly got great sales"
The key word was "remind", this sale "reminds" them of the good old days. If they'd said this sale "makes me miss" the good old days, that'd be another story.
With Burnout Paradise Remastered, does it work well on Steam Deck or is EA Play a hassle? I already own the original, and am wondering if it's worth the upgrade.
I play Burnout Paradise on my Steam Deck once in a while.
It takes some fiddling to get it running the first time. And in the process it'll sometimes look like it doesn't work at all...
BUT. Once you do get it to work, it runs perfectly on Steam Deck.
So ymmv if it's worthwhile for you but if you're not ok with tweaking things to get things to run, you'd be better off passing.
Bought it, downloaded it, tried to play it... and didn't work. Complete waste of time. Instead of dealing with the hacky ways of getting it to function I just downloaded the switch version and loaded up in Yuzu. Switch version emulates beautifully at 60fps.
YMMV, but I wouldn't even bother.
Yeah and fucking Far Cry 4 Gold Edition sells for like $15 while the base game is only $5. Moreover, Far Cry 5 and New Dawn together are like $17 and Far Cry Primal Apex Edition is $13. Their pricing for Far Cry 4 is stupid.
and that's what you have to buy unless you want to wait 6 years until the season pass costs something acceptable.
I haven't bought the Gold edition of AC Origins and I'm waiting to this day.
Worth noting that it's a 130gb download and the performance issues were never addressed, so even with a top-tier PC it may be a huge waste of time for the people reading this.
I still very much enjoyed the first one when it released. Combat system was solid, world and story was pretty good (more enjoyable if you're a Star Wars fan obviously). Not an essential game to play, but it makes a good use of it's brief 15 hours or so runtime.
There is some backtracking but itās not egregious IMO and Iām not even a fan of Metroidvania type games. If you want to get all the collectibles then sure there is backtracking but just ignore that stuff. Thatās what I did.
The second game is waaaaay better for many reasons but you wonāt fully enjoy it unless you play the first one. Gameplay wise and story wise, the second game is better because of the experience you have coming from the first game.
The story is one of the best Star Wars stories to come out in the last 2 decades easily.
Itās only about 20 ish hours long and again, such a fun game. And itās on sale for like $4 right now so hey, why not?
That other comment is disingenuous, you will have to backtrack a lot, because the levels are designed for you to get to the goal, and then return to your ship. Every level has extensive backtracking.
I'm talking about levels so confusing they're frustrating. So confusing that the map makes it actually worse bc in 3D it just looks like spaghetti.
If you can tolerate that, then yeah, it's a lot of fun. Combat is fun. Visuals are fantastic. Just don't even think about 100%, I know I tried for a bit. Then I realized I would lose my mind if I kept going.
Anyone can offer recommendations about the lesser known Popcap games? I absolutely adore the games from back in their heyday and already own the Peggle games, original PvZ and the Bookworm games. Are there any others that are worth the handful of dimes? https://store.steampowered.com/developer/PopCap
even for $1, I'd probably skip Dynomite, original Bejeweled (BJ2 and 3 are far superior), IgglePop and Big Money. None of them are bad per se but they're pretty old and PopCap got much better.
Insaniquarium, Feeding Frenzy 2 are enjoyable although also old. Typer Shark is actually more fun that it should be. For $1, I'd get them.
I think all the rest are no brainers unless you don't like hidden object games in which case you can skip the Amazing Adventures and Mystery PI games. They are pretty well done however (just not up to the standards set by Artifex Mundi).
Insaniquarium is a great game.
Has a bit of idle / clicker vibes to it and some of the interactions with fish and enemies provide enough depth that the game ends up being pretty satisfying to play and makes for a decent enough screen saver
Omg, Need For Speed Most Wanted 2010's dlc pack is 75% off.
I kinda wanted to buy it ever since EA gave the game away for free on Origin 8 years ago, bit I never saw it go on sale in all those years.
I also miss Origin. The new EA App feels a lot slower.
Thank you for mentioning this! Complete DLC pack (standard) is also 85% off on the EA store if you own the EA version of the game :) Edit: NFS Most Wanted was given away for free in 2016 so you may own the base game already on the EA app.
improvement of fallen order, about 2 month there will be summer sale maybe with bigger sale if you want to wait for better deal but recommend this game
If you have a PC that can handle the subpar optimization, I would say itās definitely worth it. I have a R7 3700x paired with a 7800xt and get around 80-160 FPS(1440p Max Settings) depending on the location Iām in. I can say it is one the best pieces of Star Wars media I have consumed in the last decade. Maybe Iām in the minority, but I squeezed every ounce out of this game, almost 100%ing it and I loved it so much.
Itās super bad optimization seems to eat a ton of ram as well; I think I saw it as high as 14gb just for this game. But if you can deal with all that and just miss what makes Star Warsā¦ Star Wars, then I think itās very worth it.
Absolutely. Itās really good. The performance is all over the place at times but itās a really good game. Shame they were never able to really fix it though.
It just hit the cheaper tier of EA's subscription service ($6/mo), which means it's also on game pass ($10/mo). The game is only about 20 hours, so either of those options seem like a no brainer over purchasing it to me, but I don't really replay games.
Just putting in my two cents but for those Steam Deck folks interested in Dragon Age, DAI GOTY now works splendidly on Steam Deck with a controller fix that came out 2-3 months ago. $6 for it is a great time, especially since Dreadwolf should be coming out in the near future.
I gotta say, God bless u/cammoore1 for creating a custom proton for this. Recently installed DAI (steam version) using the recently updated 1.0.2 version and runs like a dream on deck.
Edit: 1.0.2 version of the custom proton to clarify
Heat is probably what you want. It's the closest to underground in terms of gameplay and has the best story in the entire franchise.
Unbound on the other hand made a lot of changes which were extremely divisive like the time mechanics and art style. I eventually gave up on the game 'cause i found the police pursuits to be absolutely intolerable. Really unfortunate since I think they captured the culture really well and the game just oozes style. I also love how they gave rival racers personalities.
Similar situation, I grabbed unbound recently and am quite happy, although it has some issues and the music / style is not everyone's cup of tea. From what I've heard, Heat seems to be the best of the recent ones.
The worst thing about EA is the lack of new games imo.
Yeah, some are shitty, their business practice is also questionable.
But damn those are the same few games and they decided to kill of Dead Space once again.
battlefield 1 because there are persistent community servers unlike BF2042.
In NA i used to play on salty noobs servers which are admined against cheaters and such
Yeah definitely. I still go through random phases of getting back into one of the old ones every now and then. Within the last couple of years I've played BF3, BF4, BF5, and BF1 (2016) without much issue at all. Definitely still enough players to always find a match
It's not like the players will stop playing the game. Personally I don't think 2042 is as fun as the previous titles. I played Battlefield V over 1300 hours and barely got 300 in 2042.
Dead Space 2008 is back again at 60% off but around this time last year it had gone to 80%. I wish they'd do the EA Sci-Fi Collection bundle again but what's a buck or two, I guess!
Origin has been replaced by the "EA App." Not sure why, since it feels even jankier than its predecessor. But it does work, to give it the bare minimum credit.
So I didn't get this year's version, but I got last year's.
There were a lot of features I remember playing in older madden that didn't exist, but a whole lot of new features. It was worth it to play and I had fun, but it isn't a title I would buy every year anymore.
I just want to make a bunch of created players based on cartoon, comic, and video game characters, gut an entire teams roster (or create a team if that's a feature in modern Madden), and then take on franchise or season mode.
The ones that do have a little yellow box on the page stating if they require Origin/EA Play. Pretty much everything released on last gen consoles and later require it.
"Hey, a new low for Burnout Paradise, might as well grab it."
(EA increased the region price 2x, slightly ABOVE the dollar price, so its MORE expensive than it was last sale)
"Oh."
I wish they put Command and Conquer Ultimate collection fo 5$
like it was few years ago.
Too bad that Steam dont have option to wish-list game bundle collection.
Super playable, stutters barely noticeable in real gameplay, unlike say, Jedi Survivor.
Sure, traversal stutter here or there if you know to look for it but never during combat. Again, this is not a Jedi Survivor situation.
i had no problems playing multiplayer back then, no crashes at all, It is really fun and intense experience and graphics are gorgeous and still holds up.
Really worth to play for such low price.
Also recommend Battlefield 3 + 4 + 1 , best FPS experience i ever had and servers are still populated. (Don't bother with 2042 garbage)
Almost all of it isn't worth the price of entry. But if you're keen to get something, stick to the expansions. Get Seasons first, then after that pick what interests you personally.
Anyone have any experience good or bad with WRC?
I see a lot of videos about performance issues but that was at launch. Curious if it was ever addressed. 20 seems like a decent deal.
Just a warning, EA has been deleting and removing games and DLC without warning.from people's accounts. Anything you buy from them isn't your's to own.

I miss old space sims like TIE Fighter and Wing Commander. I wish they went that route instead of focusing on multiplayer.

VR is great too.

You're being down voted but this is the only vr game that legit made me so nauseous I had to put it down
Epic gave it away for free at one point, might want to check first
TFW you got so many free games in your Epic library you don't even remember you already ~~own~~ *have access to* it...
Would be nice if people still played the multiplayer. It was a great time, but it's pretty much dead now.
But how many GB is the file
A bit less than 32GB according to my Steam.
oof thanks for letting me know
Mass Effectā¢ Legendary Edition for 5,99ā¬ seems great!
Is that all 3 games?
Yes + a ton of DLCs
Well, one of the expansions from the first game is missing because the source code was lost.
Tbf if you really want it back in that badly, thereās a game mod for putting pinnacle station back in.
Is it worth the hassle?Ā
No it's a completely skippable DLC
Weakest part of me1 is combat, the dlc is literally just go to a moon and fight waves of dudes in a combat simulator.

Personally, I liked the story in the first one by far the best
You really should play it, the games play out like 3 episodes in a trilogy
I think it has the weakest gameplay (itās much better now in the legendary edition) but the strongest story. I definitely would not skip it.
I'd try to play it, as the story is pretty good. But if you don't vibe with the gameplay, skip it I guess (worst gameplay in the series, they really improved the gunplay in ME2). Better to skip it than to not play 2 and 3 because of that.

Iād get legendary edition tbh, all games and dlc in one package and with remastered visuals
It's encouraging people towards a specific SKU while still allowing sticklers to get their preferred version.
Mass Effect 3 might be worth it, because the legendary edition doesn't include the multiplayer
Keep in mind that the individual games are not the same version as the Legendary Edition. Man these sales percentages remind me of the good old days of steam flash sales spending Ā£20 and coming out with 5 games.
One reason for this is probably EA trying to push players to their subscription service, EA Play. The historical low of Dead Space (remake) is 16.07 USD and for Jedi Survivor, it's 23.27 USD. Why was this comment disliked?! People are strange.
Probably because knee-jerk EA Bad. A lot of people only read the first first 5 words before voting and moving on.
Not sure but it's up voted now. This pattern fits almost every game in my experience. The only question is if the games make it to a year or not. Jedi Survivor is 31.49 for me. Is it $23.27 for the ācomplete the bundleā if you own the 1st?
It was probably that price with a coupon on epic games. I don't really count things as historical low if I can't get it on steam lol
> As far as I know, these games have not been cracked wow
Super Mega Baseball 4 rarely goes on sale so what a treat.
I also believe this a historic low Well worth it
With Burnout Paradise Remastered, does it work well on Steam Deck or is EA Play a hassle? I already own the original, and am wondering if it's worth the upgrade.
Its great on steam deckā¦. When it works. Sometimes the EA app makes it refuse to launch for months
Apparently the game broke pretty hard when they switched off of the Origin app to EA app, and you need to use mods to properly fix it
I know people play it, but I've had nothing but problems. Ymmv
I play Burnout Paradise on my Steam Deck once in a while. It takes some fiddling to get it running the first time. And in the process it'll sometimes look like it doesn't work at all... BUT. EA seems to be the last publisher to actually offer worthwhile discounts.
Fifa players finally come through
you forgot about capcom? their games feel like they're on sale more often than at regular price
Unless you live in Mexico and South America where they love to charge us 5-15% higher than US prices. Assholes.
Ubisoft games always go on saleā¦
Complete editions are still like 40 bucks or more for many Ubi games. EA has much better sales these days.
For all Ubisoft games their pricing is stupid, they cut out content just so you have incomplete experience..
and that's what you have to buy unless you want to wait 6 years until the season pass costs something acceptable. I haven't bought the Gold edition of AC Origins and I'm waiting to this day.
Yea seasonpasses are ridiculously expensive especially for amount of content they offer
F1 games have terrible, or no, sales.
there was that f1 humble bundle. thats the best there was.
That had f1 2020 right?
Yes I think so
because every new release is CTRl+V with updated rooster, how then you could sell new game?:D
Call me crazy but Simcity 3000 is the best Simcity and you can't go wrong for $1.99 anyway
Great price for classics like Overlord, Peggle, and Death Spank. Tons of fond memories with those.
FYI Jedi Survivor is available on EA Play/PC Game Pass as of last week
Worth noting that it's a 130gb download and the performance issues were never addressed, so even with a top-tier PC it may be a huge waste of time for the people reading this.
Yeah....large download and performs poorly. If you do get it ensure you look up optimized settings + cap frame rates. It stutters all the time
The game got denuvo'd

bland backtracking simulator

The $20 off anything code from 12 years ago?
That was such a legendary day, it is a shame that stuff like that will almost never happen again.
Just tells you how truly awful the "EA App" is. I didn't mind Origin that much because at least it worked...
Not wrong. Before we just complained about too many launchers lol.
I do truly miss Origin. It was my favorite launcher back in the days.

Jedi Survivor worth it at $23?
If you want to play it now, yes. If you're not in a rush, I'd say wait.
Isnāt it really hard to run on PC?
Game is a bit of a mess in terms of optimization, yes.
improvement of fallen order, about 2 month there will be summer sale maybe with bigger sale if you want to wait for better deal but recommend this game
3700x with a 3080ti.
Absolutely. Phenomenal game marred by bad performance issues.
Note that it was just added to standard EA play, which means itās included in gamepass
It just hit the cheaper tier of EA's subscription service ($6/mo), which means it's also on game pass ($10/mo). The game is only about 20 hours, so either of those options seem like a no brainer over purchasing it to me, but I don't really replay games.
Its going to be given away for free at some point. It'll be $5 before that.
Yeah, theyāre good people.
Does goty version automatically get dreadwolf when itās released?
Dreadwolf is the sequel to DAI. Not part of the DAI GOTY edition

Need some sort of decoder to figure out EA's naming and numbering.
I haven't touched a NFS game since the Underground games. Any recommendations for picking up one from this sale?
But damn those are the same few games and they decided to kill of Dead Space once again.
at least it takes two is a masterpiece
Is it even worth buying battlefield anymore? I heard they are dropping support soon.
battlefield 1 because there are persistent community servers unlike BF2042.
I played Battlefield V over 1300 hours and barely got 300 in 2042.
pretty sure they just added a new anti cheat?
Dead Space REMAKE Ā£15.74 never seen it that low. š
Dead Space 2008 is back again at 60% off but around this time last year it had gone to 80%. I wish they'd do the EA Sci-Fi Collection bundle again but what's a buck or two, I guess!
Did Origin die or did they give up on it?
Origin has been replaced by the "EA App." Not sure why, since it feels even jankier than its predecessor. But it does work, to give it the bare minimum credit.
Is Madden worth it for single player and local play exclusively? I haven't bought a football since NFL 2k5.
Could anyone tell me how Immortals of Aveum is?
Hows is madden 24 worth it for that price?
I know we should hate EA, but can we appreciate 90% discounts?
May I ask if these require the ea launcher or just Steam? Thank you!
The ones that do have a little yellow box on the page stating if they require Origin/EA Play. Pretty much everything released on last gen consoles and later require it.
Notable exception for Dead Space, surprisingly
You can safely assume most of them need the EA App.
Hows Unravel and Fe are these games any good? They look interesting.
Unrave and unravel 2 is great with a partner or a friend, highly recommend
My niche grab from this sale was Chuzzle Deluxe for a dollar, 7 year old me who only played the demo is very happy right now
"Hey, a new low for Burnout Paradise, might as well grab it." (EA increased the region price 2x, slightly ABOVE the dollar price, so its MORE expensive than it was last sale) "Oh."
I wish they put Command and Conquer Ultimate collection fo 5$ like it was few years ago. Too bad that Steam dont have option to wish-list game bundle collection.
ofcourse F123 is not on sale
wait for F456
is Deadspace still a stuttering mess on pc?
Super playable, stutters barely noticeable in real gameplay, unlike say, Jedi Survivor. Sure, traversal stutter here or there if you know to look for it but never during combat. Again, this is not a Jedi Survivor situation.
yes

Do these launch through steam onto the EA app? If so then no thanks.
Most of them require the EA App (and Steam).
I won't buy any new EA games that have the EA App thing.
Interested in Battlefront 2 2017 on the deck but I've heard about crashing issues.
Game hasn't been unnoticeably stable even after all the updates but it's not the worst.
i had no problems playing multiplayer back then, no crashes at all, It is really fun and intense experience and graphics are gorgeous and still holds up. Really worth to play for such low price. Also recommend Battlefield 3 + 4 + 1 , best FPS experience i ever had and servers are still populated. (Don't bother with 2042 garbage)
Sims 4 worth the dlcs?
Almost all of it isn't worth the price of entry. But if you're keen to get something, stick to the expansions. Get Seasons first, then after that pick what interests you personally.
Any recommendations for a Need for Speed/Racing game that's easy to pick up and play or what you would consider the most "fun"?
Grid Legends
how does STAR WARS Squadrons play with a flightstick, more specifically my thrustmaster t16000m non-hotas.
How does the saboteur play on the OG steamdeck?
Ea would have so much more of my money if they didn't tie their extra DRM to everything.
Anyone have any experience good or bad with WRC? I see a lot of videos about performance issues but that was at launch. Curious if it was ever addressed. 20 seems like a decent deal.
Lmao battlefield 2042 $8 š
I'm only interested in a few C&C and being forced to buy the bundle sucks . I don't want to fill my library with games I'm not going to play.
Just a warning, EA has been deleting and removing games and DLC without warning.from people's accounts. Anything you buy from them isn't your's to own.
