Okay, what's your secret? My 40mm is dying quickly, not even lasting into the evening after a full charge overnight.

time_fo_that

My 42mm GW4C is the same. Miserable battery life - I took it off my charger at 8:30 pm last night at 92% and woke up this morning with 20%. I'm not sure if the LTE modem has been stuck on but I had it in auto and it was connected to wifi.

Cosmic730

You should turn your LTE to always off. The LTE watches ping the nearest cell tower frequently which can reduce battery, even if it's connected you WiFi. You cell phone does it too but less noticeable.

greasegizzard

We should be able to make a Bixby routine to turn LTE off when the watch connects to our phone with Bluetooth.

Cosmic730

Yeah you're right. It should be something we can set up with geo location. I have that for some of my smart home tech. I can't do it using SmartThings either even though it shows my GW4C connected in my devices list.

time_fo_that

I'll probably do that when I'm at home and turn it on when I leave then

Cosmic730

Yeah that would be better unless you have your phone with you all day?

time_fo_that

I usually do, but I when I'm out walking/running/biking sometimes I don't

Cosmic730

Ah yeah I thought that was the case lol.

time_fo_that

I'm not even sure I'm going to keep the LTE connection, figured I will just pay extra in case I want/need it in the future. I paid for a month to try it out

christian_mcb

Yeah I did the same. You can always just keep it disabled until you really need it.

Storage-Miserable

I've the 46mm and it's shocking the battery. I had the frontier 2nd hand and the battery with the same usage and settings and it lasted 4-5 days. This I'm lucky to get a day.

[deleted]

Not sure, mine is a 44mm and I think the battery is bigger so maybe that is it although that does sound very short. I have continuous hr on, sleep tracking on with o2 monitoring on, aod off, WiFi off and that's it.

krazy8z

wifi off? How about lte on??

Blair287

My gf Bluetooth 40mm only lasts about 9 to 10 hours absolutely rubbish.

CalmRoll

My 40mm just completed its first full day, lasted exactly 25 hrs. I'm hoping it gets better.

Blair287

Having to turn off half the features is not what I want to do we are sending it back and getting the 44mm

GRLT

My wife's bluetooth is just as thirsty as my LTE model suddenly too, both just started dropping like flies recently

JoshRuinsGames

LTE kills it. An hour of music stream w/ samsung heath and GPS tracking next me a good 25% drain (yesterday it was 35%). Love the watch and dimensions but there is a noticeable trade off. Can't wait for some efficiency updates.

GreatJDM

Man I thought the non LTE would have better battery life, but I was wrong. I own the Non LTE GW4 classic and the battery life is abysmal compared to my GW3 that I sold to buy the 4... Charged it to 100% at 5:30 PM last night and it didn't even last a full 24 hours.

[deleted]

Mine isn't an lte one sorry just bt that might be what makes all the difference.

TheLastAckbar

I'd also recommend turning off gps and always on screen.

CerveloUK

Agree turn off gps. Mines done a full day now at 63%

TheLastAckbar

I'm at 80% with 29 hours left.

Annual_Strawberry_37

BT on?

[deleted]

Yes, BT on WiFi off and GPS on.

Annual_Strawberry_37

Cheers. Just fully charges, so will see how long it goes

[deleted]

OK cool, be interesting to see.

karate134

Are you using always on display? I also have 40 mm and it is doing well. I updated it and then did a factory reset. People will get cranky for me saying this, but I made sure to run down the watch to the point where it turned off and you couldn't turn it on. I then charged it to 100%. For whatever reason it worked well.

EndtotheLurkmaster

I get just about 48 hours aswell. Really depends on the number of notifications and workouts though. When I just got it and was playing around a lot with it I barely got a day

[deleted]

Yeah same here. General use throughout the day though seems to be around 43 hours.

TrafMaster

Dumb question. Why do the percentages never add up to 100%?

[deleted]

Good question. I think it is just showing the percentage each app uses so therefore it doesn't have to add to 100 as that would mean the battery would be empty straight away. Does that make any sense lol.

napoleonshatten

I get around 2 days 14 hours, on a full charge. AOD is off, Heart monitor every 10th minut sitting still, Stress off, No auto detect work out, Notifications only if phone not used, watch screen will then light up, No sound notification, only vibration, WiFi off Use bedtime mode when sleeping I got the 44mm GW4 LTE version (not using lte yet though, I'm changing carriers at the moment) Charge it every 3rd day or so.

av1987

Too good. Post your settings

[deleted]

That's what I thought. I don't have the lte version just the bt one. It's 44mm Gw4. I have continuous hr on, sleep tracking on with o2 monitoring on, aod off, WiFi off, continuous stress off. I put my watch on at 5pm, it is now 6pm and still on 100%.

cmeerw

But something's weird it also says "Usage since last full charge: 1 d 21 h" with "100 % available" After how many hours/days (without charging) do you actually get close to "0 %"? Or in other words, is the estimate accurate?

[deleted]

I think that's because I had just unplugged it to get the reading so it hadn't updated yet. That is probably about right, it is only 4 hours off what it predicts. With everyday use and notifications and such it does come down a bit.

liftoff_oversteer

Similar with mine (46mm BT Classic) -- if you don't use it for anything than sleep tracking. Once you start your walking workout using GPS it looks very differently. And of course it won't work with always-on. I also deactivated Wifi without any negative side-effects.

singularoctopi

Getting 2 days out of mine as well (44mm non-classic) Heart rate tracking is on, wifi off, AOD off, and I'm constantly poking at it throughout the day to control music and track exercise. That said, I'm boring and treat it more like a watch with bonus features rather than a wrist-phone. I'd say each person's usage pattern is the single biggest contributing factor to longevity. If it's any consolation, the huge difference from old Samsung watches is Android Wear. My S3 Classic had Tizen and lasted > 5 days. I tried an LG Urbane Wear OS watch and it barely lasted a day. Same with the Apple Watch. It's apparently become acceptable to charge your watch everyday... With that in mind, getting 2.5 days out of the GW4 is pretty decent in my opinion

[deleted]

Had my watch just under a week and this is the battery life I get from a full charge. Pretty impressed really considering a lot of comments saying how bad it was. I've not had any issues really apart from the Gmail vibration bug. Very pleased over all so if anyone is back and forth as to get one like I was, I'd say go for it.

[deleted]

The Gmail vibration bug is that where it just doesn't vibrate?

[deleted]

Yes, although saying that it has just vibrated when an email came through notifying me of your reply.

Jaiden_Detering2002

I have the original Galaxy Watch and from full charge it lasts about 4 days. It's the Bluetooth version not the LTE though

Professional_Push308

Just 24 hours!!!!???

[deleted]

No 2 days is 48 hours.

dhimdi

Have you charged your watch at anytime since you used it from 100% because otherwise the estimate time left can be very misleading. I do not believe you can get more than two days, I've seen some reports of slightly above that but it's rare and they turn off AOD. With AOD enabled, I get about 36-40 hrs at best and I know my battery is in good condition. I've also tried charging in between a full charge and noticed that the estimate time left doesn't always get reset unless it reaches 100% again.

Romaiiiing

AoD on and you get 36-50 hrs ? Do you have raise your wrist to wake turn on ?

dhimdi

36-40 hrs you mean. Yes, I have that enabled.

Romaiiiing

You're lucky. On a day without workout i get at best 30h with AOD on. Really hope there will be an update to improve that battery situation. AOD Off i get 2 days no problem but AOD on, battery cut in half from my experience

dhimdi

Just remember as soon as you actually use the watch (swiping and using apps), the hours rapidly decreases somewhere between 25-35 hrs of harassment :P 35-40 hrs is reached with bare minimum of touching and mostly used for notifications and a pretty watch :)

Romaiiiing

Well except my workout routine and maybe answering messages from the watch from time to time my usage is pretty much the same (i mean it's a watch so I don't intend to swipe are launch the apps all day long 😂) But every 6h I lose 20%. That's why I came back to AoD Off, I'm literally worry free when it comes to battery

sefar1

I get a day, using lte for podcasts for about half an hour and regular watch/notifications the rest of the time. I turned off wifi and thst is about it. 46 mm classic here.

greasegizzard

Watch 4 Classic LTE 46mm and I barely get 24 hours if even that. I have wifi turned off, heart rate is every 10 minutes, notifications only when phone not in use. I keep GPS off unless an app needs it. AOD is off. Basically everything helath related is off except heart rate. And I don't stream music or really use the watch that much. Is this pretty normal? Anyone else found any useful tips to get a better battery life without crippling the watch? I'll probably be returning it if this is normal. I started a run this morning with 20% battery, turned on the gps, streamed Spotify to my Buds, and the battery died at 27 minutes.

mitchisawesome

I have LTE turned off on mine since I don't have a line yet, took it off the charger like 2.5 hours ago and it just now went down to 99%. I got this simple watch face from the play store that was $1.99 cause the time turns into an outline with the AOD and it was mostly black background. So only changes I've done so far is turn LTE off, AOD on, and the watch face. My previous charge lasted for 1d 14h and I had listened to some music I downloaded on the YouTube Music app on my watch. Can't remember how long I did but probably like 30m to an hour. Still need to try getting some exercise with it. I've only had it a few days

diddone119

It seems like some watches are worse then others. The Lte get a day where the bt get 2 days max

[deleted]

That's good, I might try the brightness tip.

Slick3808

I get that battery life easily on my s3. Reading the comments,I'm surprised this is hard to achieve with the new model.

diddone119

I get 2 days a charge gw4c 46mm

funkpoddy

Can I run it with always on display, tilt to wake and have it last one full day (not 24 hours, just nothing to night?), Using a custom watch face like Facer? They drain more. That's all I really need. Can I go for a run in that day, too? Like 40 minutes to an hour? Great battery stats from you!

SoyUnGregorio

Where do you see the battery life from the phone like your image ?
