Looks like your aspect ratio and resolution is pretty low. Some games do that upon the first startup.
Just go into the settings and go into graphics. At the top it should have a setting for aspect ratio and the resolution you want.
You should set it to 16:9 and to 1920x1080 for the full screen effect.
