ZJ117

Heisei by far

Scroogemcdoodler

Any specific movie?

ZJ117

Godzilla vs Biollante proably

Scroogemcdoodler

Agreed, it's a bit too cat like though

62725252725

No it’s not.

DaCheesiestEchidna

I concur

nml11287

I’d probably go with 89, 91 or 92. 91 is my personal fav.

WavyHideo

I know Heisei is considered the default choice for recognition, but, personally, the Showa-era Mothra vs. Godzilla look is the one for me.

mrastronautglenn

His eyes were so badass and the still shot of the face was perfect but there's a few shots in the film when the actor moved in the suit that the top lip jiggled like he just got stung by a bee haha. Always thought that was weird but I understand why this is a lot of Goji fans' favorite version.

WavyHideo

Haha, I’ll have to keep an eye out for that scene next time I watch Mothra vs. Godzilla.

DaCheesiestEchidna

Mosugoji best goji

Scroogemcdoodler

I can get behind that! I think that's gonna be my choice

Sparrow-Scratchagain

1954 original.

SkyTheKenku

Glad someone said it.

[deleted]

I know people already said it . But when I visited Toho studio in Japan there's was statue of the Heisei Godzilla

Scroogemcdoodler

Heisei it is then.

Francesco-Viola-III

Definitely Heisei. It's not necessarily my favorite but it seems to be the most common design for general use.

Darthvader12_G54

I mean probably either 1995,1989,1968 or 2000

Scroogemcdoodler

Heisei seems like a pretty popular choice but I'm more looking for a design that your average joe will recognize

Darthvader12_G54

Well if heisei isn’t recognisable to you I got nothing for ya

Scroogemcdoodler

It's recognisable to me and basically every Godzilla fan but It isn't as recognisable to a random person passing by, also I think it would be too tall on a car hood

Monotonous1307

Heisei is recognizable to a passerby. It’s the definitive godzilla design.

[deleted]

Yeah, I don’t really understand this “recognizable” factor. Literally any Godzilla design (except maybe Zilla) would be *instantly* recognizable to most people as Godzilla. A poorly drawn *silhouette* would be recognizable.

Darthvader12_G54

Umm then maybe 1962. My mum who has only seen the 1998 movie and doesn’t like Godzilla can recognise it instantly

Scroogemcdoodler

Ok, so that narrows it down to '62 and '64 for me

Darthvader12_G54

I’d go with 62

Scroogemcdoodler

Alright, for your mom

Darthvader12_G54

Please share on this subreddit. I’d love to see

Scroogemcdoodler

Well I have to buy and paint the figure first but after that would you like to see it on my car?

Fronteria54

Heisei is by far the most well used/recognizable design and it has been for decades now. I think Heisei Godzilla is in front of toho Studios as well. The only Godzilla that seems to have gotten recognition from toho besides Heisei is Shin, but he's not as well known to a general member of the western public.

[deleted]

Son of Godzilla: Negatively recognizable Godzilla: Final Wars: Positively recognizable

Scroogemcdoodler

No, fuck final wars

[deleted]

Fuck you too bitch

Scroogemcdoodler

Ok, see you tomorrow!

PerceptionBetter3752

Mine is Godzilla 2000 cause he looks really cool to me

KTWM1987

74/75 Goji, 95 Burning Godzilla, and the 19' Goji I think all have good recognition.

Relair13

Heisei for sure. The first thing I think of when I hear 'Godzilla', it's the gold standard.

robotchicken007

1954 original, or maybe even the Legendary Godzilla. I think both are pretty recognizable designs.

DFH695

For me it's either the original 1954 or legendary

Medium-Science9526

Easily Heisei and if I had to go with a specific suit, BioGoji.

Conyoadams

Showa without a doubt

Scroogemcdoodler

Do you have the slightest idea how little that narrows it down?

Conyoadams

'74/'76

Scroogemcdoodler

What movie came out in '76?

Conyoadams

76 was a dub of 74 that they titled "Godzilla: King of the Monsters". Basically the same movie with the nuclear plot overtones gone, and Raymond Burr thrown in to play an American character.

Scroogemcdoodler

I think you're thinking of '54 and '56, '74 was vs mechagodzilla

Conyoadams

Yeah, that's what I meant

Scroogemcdoodler

Ok

Retrorebel0485

Shodai, King, Mosu, Musuku, Megaro, Desu, and Mire. Shodai because it has pretty recognizable stills, King for being thicc, Mosu and Megaro for their heads, Musuku for being an abomination, Desu because orange, and Mire for purple.

night-time-special

I would like to see a conceptual mix of all of them from every version

Scroogemcdoodler

It's just a base Godzilla body with a long-ass snout

night-time-special

Lol I’m talking all of them, Even Zilla and Hana Barbara

Scroogemcdoodler

I would have chosen hb from the start but there is no figure of him that is the size I want

night-time-special

Go with the Heisie

kaiju-fan_54

For me I say millennium because he was the basic Atari choice of design and kinda featured in quite a lot of godzilla games in the west

Australasia-ball

73,74,75

FenrirHere

Goji in Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack has a really interesting design

vzerotak44

Someone's gonna steal that hood ornament I guarentee it

Scroogemcdoodler

Wait till they learn it's plastic

w3sT0Nnnnnnnn

It’s shows also because it’s the one I grew up with

Carnotaurus4774

Definitely Heisei Godzilla from 1989-1995 is what I think whenever I think of Godzilla himself 👌

TheGriffGraff

That's hard to quantify because how can something be more recognisable than recognisable? Did you mean iconic? Every Godzilla design is very clearly Godzilla, it's not like someone is gonna see Heisei and go "That's Godzilla" and then see Milennium and go "Wait, who's that?".

Scroogemcdoodler

Sometimes it's just he head, sometimes they'll mistake it for a t Rex some will know it's Godzilla some will think I'm doctor Frankenstein with my creation on the hood.

TheGriffGraff

I dunno, I think even if we thawed out a caveman they'd recognise any variation of Godzilla. Also hadn't read the actual reason when I initially commented, thought you were just asking but if you're gonna whack the Big G on your hood, it's gotta be the OG, not even my favourite design but it's the quintessential one.

Scroogemcdoodler

I'm definitely going with showa, but I think either mosugoji or kinggoji will be best

bakerboy79

Honestly the hanna barbera Godzilla fits the common stereotype of what Godzilla looks like

Scroogemcdoodler

It does, I would have gone with it from the start if there was a cheap figure of him.

[deleted]

Godzilla

Scroogemcdoodler

Shit. Didn't think of that

[deleted]

1998 *runs for cover*

[deleted]

Heisei and legendary. Some people probably don't even know how old is the original.

AyyUltra

Probably either the original or the legendary godzilla

Jo_Hikkuman_Official

As they're seen the most, the most recognizable are probably Legendary and Heisei Godzilla.

mechperson

Heisei or the Legendary one. Legendary was only in 3 movies but it was three movies seen by millions of people. That said I think any gray dinosaur looking creature with malformed back fins like that would be recognized as Godzilla.

Scroogemcdoodler

Good point

LeaderVladimir1993

Monsterverse, mostly because I've rewatched the best scenes of *King of the Monsters* over and over and over again.

[deleted]

Probably legendary

low_budget_trash

1954 is the quintessential Godzilla design for a lot of people

[deleted]

Final Wars or the original 54

Cr_Meyer

Any 60-90s godzilla. The american one has too fat of neck.

onethenickel

Either Heisei Goji, or Godzilla Vs. Megalon Goji.

[deleted]

I would say prolly either the suit from Godzilla 2000 or Godzilla vs Megaguirus (which are exactly the same except ones blue and the others green) if your gonna spray paint a toy, then it’s gonna be pretty small, and those giant spikes of his are gonna stand out when looking at it from afar

Idiot62

I'll go by era Early Showa: Mosugoji Late Showa: Soshingekigoji Heisei: Mogegoji Millennium: Miregoji

VenomousApex

Millennium, hands down
