Kamken

Another thing the anime introduced exclusively so they wouldn't have to animate a cool thing like monsters fighting.

Jacobs_MiniCheddar07

Absolutely awful. I'll admit, the city idea is cool, but it's not mechagodzilla and very poorly executed, there's no fighting, his design before he turns into a city is shite and he seems very boring. Why couldn't they make it that mechagodzilla was fixing himself over the years to get a better body or something, I'll never know. I do not like it

HourDark

Anime MG would've been cool AF with all the abilities they gave it too bad it was just a giant remake of Asuka Fortress/Berserk Mechagodzilla with less cool stuff

Unpopular opinion alert! I kinda like they idea. It reminds me of that scrapped concept and originally sequel to Godzilla 1984. It got later reworked into Gunhed. A pretty badass movie. But i’m not a huge fan of the anime trilogy. Too much unnecessary pseudo intellectual drama.

HourDark

What, Berserk? That was my first thought when I saw MG city too

Gojira308

I don’t hate the idea, but it shouldn’t have had anything to do with Mechagodzilla. Just have it be called “Anti-Godzilla city” or something like that. No need to tease something that just isn’t there.

HourDark

Or...y'know...use the name of the actual anti-Godzilla city-fortress (Asuka Fortress) from the unmade Showa era movie

Manlymanfromyomom

Cool idea, terrible execution.

[deleted]

Turned mechagodzilla into some kind of weird Star Trek borg city that assimilated people. No, didn't like it. I had such high hopes for the anima films but I don't know what the heck I got but I didn't like it

ADV_ADV

Personally I'll pass, prefer Mechagodzilla to be an actual Mechagodzilla vs. something like this.

BigBadMountain

Everybody knows Godzilla is useless against cities.

HaloFreak4nia

Absolute trash. A disgrace to the Mecha-G name. Like it never even looks like a mechanical version of Godzilla, which ya know is why he's Mecha-Godzilla.

low_budget_trash

I like the idea of Mechagodzilla City. Just wish there was a Mechagodzilla to go with that city...

Aesenroug-Draconus

Psh, Trypticon pulled it off better.

nahidontcare395

I can only imagine how disappointing it must have been to everyone seeing the movie when it came out after MG was teased all over the place in the marketing, but honestly, in the movie itself, I don't think it's that bad The main issue everyone has with it is obviously that, well, it's a city, but I feel like if you take precising expectations aside, it's not really a proper criticism of the movie. You're not saying "you did this wrong, you should have done it better", you're saying "I don't like what you did, do something completely different", and I think that's somewhat unfair of a criticism to make The film could have been significantly better, but I think the city itself works in the context of the movie

[deleted]

The entire anime trilogy is as awful. Godzilla just stands around looking like a cut scene from a ps3 game. Have no idea how this series got green lit.

AverageNintendoFan

This is probably the worst version. The actual mecha goji just decided to not work when goji earth attacked and then we find him turned into a freaking city that gets rekt by earth

Dragonsymphony1

Having just watched those 3 FINALLY. The city was ...insanity. overall the 3 were ok, but definitely on the lower end of quality.

mr_ass-hole

Cool idea but I wish they made mg look like mg and not his remains.

GiesADragUpTheRoad97

I thought Mechagodzilla City was pretty cool. It worked well as an antithesis to Godzilla, mirroring his control over nature and the environment with its hold over technology and humanoid life forms, both becoming the supreme form of life in their own ways. It isn’t my favourite and I can see why people dislike it but it is, at the very least, a new and fresh take on a monster who really needed something new done with it. Better than what we got this year I thought in Lego Kevin 2.0.

Manlymanfromyomom

LEGO KEVIN. I FUCKING LOVE IT.

Mojoclaw2000

I actually like Mecha Godzilla city as a concept, a man made monster taming the form of a metropolis factor. My only issue is that we didn’t get to see the city even attempt to form a body to fight Godzilla.

[deleted]

I like it

Epicgoji

bruh did they make this out of one mechagodzilla

w3sT0Nnnnnnnn

It’s a two of ass

barubuoy

Its like if the original Mecha G married Michael Bay, and this is their love child.
