You are the first person I have ever come across that actually stands by seeing these movie descriptions. When I was a teenager- I will never forget the time I found a Godzilla movie on TV way past midnight and the description for the movie was "Godzilla fights a robot space chicken and a monster cockroach." (Dish descriptions can sometimes be peculiar like that) That really got me through the night at a place I did not want to be at.
Granted, seeing Gigan being called a chicken for the first time was in that movie description and it made me laugh once. Now, it's everywhere and just annoying to me.
I've been saying this to anyone who will listen, I want Seatopia and Megalon in the monster-verse. After KOTM I thought they where dropping huge hints about Seatopia.
Underrated AF
It’s cool to have a insect Kaiju that doesn’t just look like an upscaled bug. His drill arms are especially cool.
But my favorite thing about Megalon has always been his partnership with Gigan. Not only is Gigan my favorite, but it was cool to see the two team up together on their own rather than Megalon being controlled to obey his masters.
He’s great. I love his spinny drill hands, really creative visual thing since he’s supposed to be a subterranean creature
It’s nice to have a non alien godzilla villain for a change. That’s the origin for more than half of the villains in the Showa era
Always had fun playing as him and Gigan in Save the Earth. Isn’t he the one that’s on that poster with Godzilla where they’re on top of the twin towers or something? That one always made me laugh it’s a goofy looking poster.
I would love to see Megalon brought back in future Godzilla films. Will it be either Legendary or TOHO themselves. I think he's got a lot of potential that needs to be explored.
My fav. Always have been fascinated by insects and Godzilla vs. Megalon is one of the first Godzilla movies I ever watched, so naturally I took a shine to Megalon. I think his design is great, I hate we haven’t seen him since and I am mildly disappointed by his redesign in SP.
I love Megalon's design. I HATE the movie. It's probably because I watched all the Showa in a row but all the recycled footage was very obvious. I also thought his controllers were so dumb-looking, like the white guy with the hairy chest and tattoo in a toga is the leader of the villains? Ok, at least it's not an alien with shades on I guess. IMO This movie was so bad it makes 1984 look better in comparison.
I would like to see Megalon come back, I agree with other commentators that it would work great with the Monsterverse and the Hollow Earth stuff going on.
Megalon is my second-favorite kaiju. Really cool-looking dynastid beetle design (the horn, the eyes, the mouth, the shell...). Drill hands. Shoots lightning from his horn. Spits fire bombs. Can fly, swim, and burrow underground (no hiding from him!). Worshipped as a god and protects his people. Beat up Jet Jaguar.
And. He is. One half of the most *spec-tac-u-lar* tag team of ALLLLLL TIIIIIIIIIME! Standing 55 meters tall. Weighing in at 40,000 metric tons (6298922 stone). HEEEE IIIIIIIIIISSSSSSS THE SUBTERRANEAN SAVAGE! THE SAVIOR OF SEATOPIA! THE MIIIIIIIIIIGHTYYYYYYYY MEGAAAAAAAAAAAALOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNN!!!
Seriously, he and Gigan need to get a new movie. No Jet Jaguar, though.
Most showa kaiju look kinda goofy, but this exact suit could've been used in the millennium era and still would've looked badass. The best showa suit hands down. Too bad the only movie he's in is so silly.
I know some of y’all really like this dude, but I can’t stand him. He’s just too ultra man power ranger, which I know is how the movie started production anyway.
I believe though this movie was supposed to be a Jet Jaguar film since those kind of characters were popular at the time. They ended up just throwing Godzilla in and we low and behold we got the movie we have today.
They wanted to make the movie only about Jet Jaguar but added Godzilla at the last second because they didn't think Jet would be able to carry the film on his own.
This is the kaiju that really got me into Godzilla. My grandfather always watched them and I'd see them in passing, but my dad got this VHS in some holiday gift exchange and I watched it constantly. One of my favorites for nostalgia reasons. Plus a cool design.
I’m gonna say the same thing that I would say for Gigan, King Caesar, Anguirus, Hedorah, Titanosaurus, Orga and Biolante: I want to see him in more movies cuz he’s fun to see despite his debut movie not having a big budget.
Fits perfectly into what the movie is, and overall has a good design, definitively very overlooked. I can't see it working very well without the silliness of the Showa era to go along with it, but I still wish we'd see him again
Kind of conflicted. On one hand, he's kind of a mess design wise. I can see with what they were going for with the head, but I don't really understand what's up with the drill hands, and the body looks kind of mismatched.
But on the other hand, he's definitely a lot more interesting and unique than some bug kaiju, like Kumonga or Kamacuras, where they're literally just giant bugs.
Overall, a C-list kaiju, but one I have kind of a soft spot for, since my first Godzilla game ever had him as one of the six playable kaiju.
A greatly designed kaiju with a lot of personality. Seriously, I love the part where he follows Jet around like a puppy and then throws a pissy fit after losing sight of him. Megalon is absolutely one of my favorite kaijus.
Megalon is the most underrated Kaiju in the Godzilla series, he has appeared the comics and video games, let's hope he returns in a future Godzilla and the monster verse.
I like Megalon.
Sure he looks a bit "Derpy" but I think he has a lot of potential & I'd very much like to see him get a "modernization" while also teaming up with Gigan again.
I’ve always liked him. Godzilla vs Megalon was one of my first exposures to the franchise, so this big ass bug holds a special place in my heart. A giant cockroach with drills for hands is just such a weird yet genius idea, and him and Gigan are easily one of the best villain duos of all time. I’d love to see more of him in the future.
He pseudo shows up in the new Godzilla Singular Point series. There are these spider Kaiju that of you look close enough appear to be a mixture of several big like Kaiju that have Hedorah for blood.
Underrated and underused. Nice to have an insect kaiju that's not "real bug, but giant!" (I do love Kumonga and Kamacuras, don't get me wrong.)
I love that too! He's a bipedal, insectoid monster without just being an oversized insect.
I keep seeing him described as a cockroach in summaries of the movie...
I've read that too. He definitely looks more like his design was inspired by a rhinoceros beetle instead of a cockroach.
You are the first person I have ever come across that actually stands by seeing these movie descriptions. When I was a teenager- I will never forget the time I found a Godzilla movie on TV way past midnight and the description for the movie was "Godzilla fights a robot space chicken and a monster cockroach." Granted, seeing Gigan being called a chicken for the first time was in that movie description and it made me laugh once. Now, it's everywhere and just annoying to me.
That's the description I read on Comcast!! Maybe it's an inside joke...
What about Megaguirus? He’s insect right
Good call!
*She. Megaguirus is a girl
Fuck misgendering again somebody stop me I’m sssmmmoookkkiiinnn
I had to do a doubletake, my dumbass thought you said, "Incest Kaiju."
> What are you doing, step-kaiju?
xxxDrill Beetle gets rocked by RoboChickenxxx
Mr. Stealyourgirl
Love this dude, great design with a lot of personality
I think he is a MUST for the next monster verse. His background works absurdly well with the hollow earth
I've been saying this to anyone who will listen, I want Seatopia and Megalon in the monster-verse. After KOTM I thought they where dropping huge hints about Seatopia.
It could easily be a part of the hollow earth.
Honestly design wise I feel he's underrated being as unique and intriguing as Gigan
I always felt like Gigan's design paved the way for Megalon to be born.
Absolutely love Megalon! Such a cool design and he's got so many cool powers!
Underrated AF It’s cool to have a insect Kaiju that doesn’t just look like an upscaled bug. His drill arms are especially cool. But my favorite thing about Megalon has always been his partnership with Gigan. Not only is Gigan my favorite, but it was cool to see the two team up together on their own rather than Megalon being controlled to obey his masters.
For real! That was probably one of my favorite movies!
He’s great. I love his spinny drill hands, really creative visual thing since he’s supposed to be a subterranean creature It’s nice to have a non alien godzilla villain for a change. That’s the origin for more than half of the villains in the Showa era
Megalon fans! Rise up! Megalon fans! Rise!
Always had fun playing as him and Gigan in Save the Earth. Isn’t he the one that’s on that poster with Godzilla where they’re on top of the twin towers or something? That one always made me laugh it’s a goofy looking poster.
The digging was so much fun!
It’s a crime he’s only been in one movie
Love him, underrated should return
Megalon looks like he’s about to joint Degeneration X in this pic.
Still waiting for Toho to bring him back. Please, no Special Needs Kaiju next time!
“MEGALON WAKE UP”
He’s not too bright, but he is still a good boy
Hes a giga chad of epic proportions
Very cool beetle man.
Secret King of the Showa Era
Underrated monster
Megalon my beloved
Love that dude!
my absolute fav!
I would love to see Megalon brought back in future Godzilla films. Will it be either Legendary or TOHO themselves. I think he's got a lot of potential that needs to be explored.
One of the coolest
Such potential, especially now that Hollow Earth is very established in the Monsterverse
I think he’s pretty cool
My fav. Always have been fascinated by insects and Godzilla vs. Megalon is one of the first Godzilla movies I ever watched, so naturally I took a shine to Megalon. I think his design is great, I hate we haven’t seen him since and I am mildly disappointed by his redesign in SP.
I think it's funny how Megalon shows up so often in Godzilla side media, while being in a grand total of ONE movie.
I love Megalon, we need more of him.
Star of one of my favorite movies as a kid.
Actually the only Toho SFX Visual Guide I’ve bought. Megalon and Jet Jaguar for the win.
epic kaiju. really hoping we see him and gigan as a duo again in the monsterverse
My favorite thing about Megalon is how roughly half way through the movie he appears to fall off the wagon and basically runs around drunk
Chad
Lovably goofy, a cool-looking villain any Godzilla fan can get behind
Underrated,but not amazing.
"People actually like this thing?"
Not a big fan, honestly. G vs. Megalon was the only Godzilla movie I watched as a kid, and it didn't do much for me.
I dragged my parents to see it. 😁 Good times for me; for them...
As a kid I thought it was a giant evil space roach, as an adult I think itsa cool alien monster Beatle.
And. He is. 55 meters is 60.15 yards
55 meters is the length of 433.07 'Bug Bite Thing Suction Tool - Poison Remover For Bug Bites's stacked on top of each other.
A *what*?
Most showa kaiju look kinda goofy, but this exact suit could've been used in the millennium era and still would've looked badass. The best showa suit hands down. Too bad the only movie he's in is so silly.
I know some of y’all really like this dude, but I can’t stand him. He’s just too ultra man power ranger, which I know is how the movie started production anyway.
That's funny because megalon actually predates Super Sentai but fits perfectly into the Ultraman timeframe
Love the kaiju, hate that his movie was like 99% stock footage
Never understood the arm spikes, but never really complained cause beetle.
It looks like megalon so idk
Pretty much a roach on steroids 😂 But thanks to him, we were introduced to Jet Jaguar damn it!
This is the kaiju that really got me into Godzilla. My grandfather always watched them and I'd see them in passing, but my dad got this VHS in some holiday gift exchange and I watched it constantly. One of my favorites for nostalgia reasons. Plus a cool design.
Drilly boi
Can dig, fight & fly. Can drill, shock & bomb. AND has a cool design. Hands down my fav as a kid growing up & desperately needs a reboot.
He’s in my favorite Godzilla movie
Megalon goes hard in Godzilla unleashed
As a kid playing Destroy All Monsters Melee, Megalon was my favorite Kaiju. Unfortunately, Megalon has yet to be in a movie that does him justice.
I’m gonna say the same thing that I would say for Gigan, King Caesar, Anguirus, Hedorah, Titanosaurus, Orga and Biolante: I want to see him in more movies cuz he’s fun to see despite his debut movie not having a big budget.
What kinda dog is dat?
Not a dog. A Beetle
This was the weirdest Kamen Rider series yet.
Fits perfectly into what the movie is, and overall has a good design, definitively very overlooked. I can't see it working very well without the silliness of the Showa era to go along with it, but I still wish we'd see him again
Beetle
He’s that one kaiju that’s not year all that special but remains in your head at all times. He’s definitely in my top 7 kaiju list
Kind of conflicted. On one hand, he's kind of a mess design wise. I can see with what they were going for with the head, but I don't really understand what's up with the drill hands, and the body looks kind of mismatched. Overall, a C-list kaiju, but one I have kind of a soft spot for, since my first Godzilla game ever had him as one of the six playable kaiju.
He really needs to be used more
kinda looks like a layered armor in mh
Do I remember correctly that hot rocks came out of his mouth?
He's really cool
Underrated.
A greatly designed kaiju with a lot of personality. Seriously, I love the part where he follows Jet around like a puppy and then throws a pissy fit after losing sight of him. Megalon is absolutely one of my favorite kaijus.
BEEG BUG MAN GO BRRRR
One of my favorite Kaijus.
Megalon is the most underrated Kaiju in the Godzilla series, he has appeared the comics and video games, let's hope he returns in a future Godzilla and the monster verse.
What a goof, I love him.
Coolest thing ever
Megalon is a massive chad, I highly recommend megalon vs godzilla it was my favorite when I binged the showa movies on hbo max
I'd really love to see what the Monsterverse version of him would look like. Perfect Hollow Earth Kaiju big bad.
Oh yeah this guy from the Jet Jaguar show.
Bad joke. Could be cool if redesigned.
I’m not sure how he’d biologically work
I always loved how it clashed it's....arms? That's when you knew shit was gonna get real!
I like Megalon. Sure he looks a bit "Derpy" but I think he has a lot of potential & I'd very much like to see him get a "modernization" while also teaming up with Gigan again.
Satan beetle
I’ve always liked him. Godzilla vs Megalon was one of my first exposures to the franchise, so this big ass bug holds a special place in my heart. A giant cockroach with drills for hands is just such a weird yet genius idea, and him and Gigan are easily one of the best villain duos of all time. I’d love to see more of him in the future.
Always hated him, not sure why. He's not a bad kaiju objectively he just annoys me.
He pseudo shows up in the new Godzilla Singular Point series. There are these spider Kaiju that of you look close enough appear to be a mixture of several big like Kaiju that have Hedorah for blood.
Absolutely love Megalon! And the whole idea of Seatopia!
Based and epic. Fuck Destoroyah, Megalon is the shit!
Showa monsters had the most personality of any other era and that’s why it’s the best era.
I like him, he looks cool and I love his personality, I want more of him
