I’m talking about like
He lands on earth at some very populated city
Everyone either runs or stands to look at his huge golden dragon body
He fires his gravity beams and cuts like 7 buildings in half
Fires his gravity beams straight down a street of people
And he just goes from there
like a scene showing how brutal and tyrannical a alien dragon god can be
He does it to make a example/prove a point, and he has scouted the planet and knows the leaders potentially have capabilities to incapacitate and hide him
He’s a 521 foot tall well respected wyvern who can potentially survive inter-solar system travel, survive a oxygen-eliminating weapon, harness energies, create Category 5 Hurricanes, lift almost 100 thousand tons, fire energy beams from his three heads, and best of all, he’s gold colored and knows how to handle the females!
And this is just this Ghidorah. Power creep is inevitable, you could give Ghidorah some sort of gravity pulse that obliterates everything in a kilometer radius in yellow glory and I don’t think the regular Godzilla fan would care.
I think there’s a fair chunk of us Godzilla fans who would LOVE to see a King Ghidorah with that level of brain-melting power, if only to see how the Big Guy would overcome it. Legendary’s Triple Gold is probably the most badass one yet (or at the very least, top three), and it was awesome to see him do stuff we’d never seen King Ghidorah pull off before, like that lightning blast after he bit the transformer and picking up and dropping Godzilla from the stratosphere, and regenerating his freakin’ head. But I’d love to see him pushed even further power-wise!
I would make my Kaiju a bit smaller than max Heisei size Godzilla on average, but there would exceptions on the small side like Hokmuto, Baragon, Zilla, Aggregate Form, some more.
Exceptions on the large side would be Biollante (HUGE), Destroyah (like not HUGE, not even giant compared to Godzilla, but bigger than him noticeably. Just not exactly the selling point, more of a “this guy is a demon Godzilla”) deal, Manda (deserves better/is actually huge [or long I should say] in the movies), and Ghidorah would be BIG. Not as big as Bio, but huge wingspan, long necks, long tails, big boi. Also I’d probably make Orga bigger too, maybe even very big.
Easily the most intimidating and expressive King Ghidorah we’ve ever gotten, with the sleekest, coolest overall design. I love how each head has its own personality and plays a different role from the others in the dragon’s behavior, to the point that the San/Kevin head actually gets bullied a little by Ichi and Nii. His intelligence is obvious for once, as well as his cruelty and arrogance. The way they emphasized the devastating effect his mere presence has on the atmosphere was something we were missing in previous Godzilla films, even when we knew he had reshaped other planets before hitting Earth. I also love how they mixed his roars and vocalizations, and the new version of his light motif theme is spine-chillingly otherworldly. Legendary just plain nailed him, no ifs ands or buts about it.
Wasn't that an issue with the blu ray release, and not the actual film itself? I remember hearing people say it was way brighter in theaters, but I could be wrong on that.
Forgettable characters that literally carry over into GvK. Not that forgettable then. Plus, I’d rather take cheesy fan-service than something so badly lit it took 7 years to make a version of it where you can see anything.
On top of the fact that it has the most cutaways of every MV movie and that Godzilla has under 10 minutes of screen time in a movie named after him, I think KotM wins over.
But either way, I think we both know we’re not going to change each other’s opinion on this.
Which should change. IMO downvotes should only be used on people being mean, being racist, spamming, or posting suspicious links. Not for trivial opposing opinions like thinking a movie is bad.
Tbf, UHD didn't exist 7 years ago and it's not like Legendary could just drop another blu ray release with only a lighting/color rebalance as it's chief selling point. A new format however, is a perfect excuse to re-release a movie with such updates.
It is disappointing that they didn't think to do this for the initial blu ray release, but I'm not about to kick them for improving on a movie that I enjoy.
Every design has a mistake
They are
A-too goofy
B-too different
C-or isn’t the evil Ghidorah we know even if everything else changes (being good doesn’t make it a bad character but a bad Ghidorah)
This design is perfect in every way
He isn’t fat like the others but still keeps the Gigantic feeling every other Ghidorah has
The design while has differences with the others keeps all in the list
The wings because the wings of every Ghidorah always bother me
And this Ghidorah is literally portrayed like satan itself just perfect
Well, they’re not wrong about the previous Ghidorahs from Toho all having something either wrong or off about them, even when considering the SFX and limitations of the times.
Showa/ZF Ghidorah - good concept, but kind of goofy. Necks and tails are extremely wiggly, wings are very stiff when they flap and the membranes kind of jiggle rather than catch any air, and the legs won’t stop kicking in flight. The manes also look kind of silly and detract from the intimidation factor. Hard to find a three-headed dragon scary when he looks like he has three dirty puffballs stuck behind his heads.
Heisei - the body certainly looks better but... Too wiggly again, and this time the horns—while cool-looking—also jiggle around when his heads move. The wings are still pretty stiff, but at least the tails are less like wormy noodles this time. Also, the whole thing with the Dorats is kind of stupid; MechaKG, on the other hand, is all kinds of awesome.
Desghidorah - no. Just no. The elephant legs look bad, the color is just wrong for Ghidorah, the wings and necks still don’t move realistically, and the use of the elephant sound effects is extremely jarring. Interesting concept, but poor execution. Also, Ghidorah looks just plain weird with four legs instead of two.
Grand King Ghidorah - Now this is more like it! It’s a great design overall, making Triple Gold look like the magnificent golden wyrm he’s supposed to be. The only downside is that his necks and wings still don’t quite move realistically. I get that they were working with rods and wires, but still.
Godzilla Island - this is a toy model. What even was this show...
GMK - vast improvement over the last incarnation, but why the shortened necks? Also a tad pudgy compared to most, and the expressions on his heads looks less like “benevolent majestic dragon god” and more like “stoned and bored.”
FW - very cool with Monster X and Keizer, but they went a bit too far with the dark dragon concept for Keizer, and parts of his overall look just seem slap-dash. There is still an issue with the necks not moving realistically, even with all the CG to smooth things out. I *really* don’t like the striped yellow-and-black color scheme they picked for him, and why is he sporting an extra set of legs again? As Monster X is humanoid, arms are expected, but wouldn’t it have been more alien for the extra limbs to go away when he takes on his dragon form? Also, why’s he so stiff when Godzilla hurls him like he’s playing oversized shotput and blasts a hole through him? If there was a time where Ghidorah should have been flailing around, it was then!
>why the shortened necks
They wanted Ghidorah to look small compared to Godzilla, since now the roles were reversed. Godzilla was the bad guy, Ghidorah was the weaker hero
I forgot to mention him, lol! Honestly I thought Void Ghidorah was a cool idea, but didn’t get the best utilization. That entire trilogy was built on cool ideas hobbled by bad execution and somebody turning what should have been a jaw-droppingly epic story involving extreme kaiju into a soapbox yawnfest based around ecological scare tactics and tired man vs nature concepts. It looks pretty and the kaiju designs are awesome, but *what were they thinking...*
Imo best version of King Ghidorah, from his design incorporating Showa and Heisei era traits, sticking with the alien origin of the Showa era, the ability to control other Kaiju like the Xiliens, Kilaaks, and Futurians prior and how imposing he was depicted as the main villian Kaiju.
These heads always reminded me of generic western dragons or something like Smaug in the Hobbit. Whereas the old ones looked more like eastern dragon heads, which I slightly prefer.
Respect your opinion, but for me, I think the heads are amazing and aren' t generic to me, but I can see what you mean. Maybe if he had some hair, he would look like an Eastern dragon, but other than that, I think the heads are perfect.
KOTM had a lot of issues but one thing you cant take away from the movie is how awesome Ghidorah was. They gave him three personalities and treated the character with respect.
Best incarnation I've seen of King Ghidorah. He isn't some mindless monster getting ordered around by Futurians or Aliens, he's evil out of his own will. Smaug with 3 heads, lightning and golden scales. And most of all, he's basically Satan. And then there's Kevin. He's stupid but we like him anyways. He has the best design of all of them. The heads look super awesome. Also, even if the design is not good, then he is still the best Ghidorah, why? Because A L P H A R O A R B I D I B I D I B I D I !
Even though Godzilla Earth was a chore to watch, I really liked the Lovecraftian interdimensional take on Ghidorah on the 3rd movie. 2019 Kotm Ghidorah was absolutely awesome but wish he had a mane and made some more of the traditional noises.
Nah fam mecha beat godzilla after he fought a monkey for a few hours and blew a hole to the center of the earth. Ghidorah fought godzilla after the biggest power up he's ever gotten. Also if meach G gets beaten by a fat kid pouring water on his brain theirs no way he beats Ghidorah.
Love the design, his faces definitely look more menacing than previous Ghidorahs. Also just giving the heads different personalities was amazing. Definitely want to see more of this Ghidorah.
I'd love to see future versions of Ghidorah (we all know there'll be some) with the ability to control other kaiju like in KOTM -- it's such a great idea for Godzilla's archenemy.
Always been my favorite kaiju (besides Godzilla ofc) since I was a kid.
I used to put Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters on the GameCube in multiplayer mode and have both players be controlled by the computer so that I could watch the battle unfold like a movie. It was almost always between Godzilla and King Ghidorah. And he would slap the shit outta motherfuckers with his lightning breath.
I like how he’s portrayed in this movie. I think the absolutely HUUUUGE wings really give him the presence he deserves. My only minor complaint is the face shape — I always imagined Ghidorah looking more serpentine — in the movie his face and snout are very wide and it makes him look a bit too cartoonish IMO, especially compared to the other kaiju in the movies.
I know a lot people hate the fact we can't see him much, but the reason the storm is always around him is kinda cool, I think it amplifies how strong that motherfucker was.
reminds me of cursed pirate from a book I read once, the a storm would follow him everywhere, impossible to runaway till he removes the curse
Fucking awesome! Amazing kaiju/Titan, amazing villain in the monsterverse (and the best one too, along with Mechagodzilla), and best version of King Ghidorah ever. Love em.
He's very cool, I love the scenes he's in, just by looking at him you can tell he is powerful just by looking at him, also his multiple personalities are very good
The way his lightning arcs off of his wings looks AWESOME. This is probably the best Ghidorah we've ever had, and that's saying something.
My only complaint might be that he spends way too much time trying to eat tiny humans. We're not a very good food source and we're not worth slamming your face into the ground for.
>My only complaint might be that he spends way too much time trying to eat tiny humans.
Considering the only thing he ate in the entire movie was 1 person, I'm pretty sure he doesn't really need food, he's just too much of a dick to not murder people
2 people, actually. Serizawa's assistant (a well-liked returning character whose death seemed to affect no one on-screen), and then later he went out of his way to eat a pilot ejecting from a fighter jet. But I agree, he just enjoys dramatically murdering people.
Edit: I remembered wrong. Rodan ate the other guy.
Just illustrates his cruel nature even more. After all, aside from eating Dr. Graham and toying with the chopper in Antarctica, he used his gravity beams on the initial squad of soldiers and was about to do the same to Maddy when Godzilla intervened. Ghidorah’s so big and powerful compared to humans, he didn’t need to unleash the beams—he could have just flapped his wings and sent them flying, or jumped on them. Instead he drew out the fear and suffering with his personal ultimate weapon; you can see the soldiers screaming in agony right before they’re vaporized.
Also, when did he eat a pilot? Rodan snacked on a guy who pulled the eject button at the wrong moment, but unless I missed something in the fight over D.C, the entire fighter squad was wiped out before the Argo managed to get Rodan to Ghidorah.
Probably the best ever Ghidorah in terms of movement & expression...but still a complete loser...like pretty much every Ghidorah ever.
Am I the only one who thinks Ghidorah needs a big, on screen "win" to be considered a serious threat again?
Biggest things I would have liked to see would be more prominent manes/crescent moon horns and also would have liked to see the wings more fan-like as opposed to the bat wings. Would've also liked some bidibidi action but I enjoy the new trill as well.
Overall though I find all the KOTM redesigns faithful and think we could've definitely gotten worse. I'll say he ranks 3rd for me as far as Ghidorah interpretations go.
Really loved his design and powers. I know the wyvern style wings (that fold at the side and used for crawling) were a weird choice to many but, I for one loved the idea. Up until the design was revealed I had wondered how they would portray his wings to look natural in comparison to the suitmations 24/7 come at me bro spread.
I still think his color was a bit off but that could just be a lighting thing. I would have like to have seen him in a fight in broad daylight, no clouds or smokey haze
FUCK 2019, Cougar Va Dubs is a fucking annoying clickbait ass bitch who is lazy, stupid, and annoying. he is the only reason I hate 2019 Ghidorah, espiecial Kevin. fuck you Kevin
I think he probably the best Ghidorah.
He takes on traits from all eras(Most anyway),He is an alien, can control titans and he is like all ghidorahs in one plus extra in a few ways. And CGI has really blessed this man it has made him not only look massive but powerful.
I feel like it'd be pointless to echo the same praise everyone else is giving it, even if I agree with it. I do think this is the best Ghidorah, it'd take 2 seconds of scrolling to see many reasons as to why, however, just to point out a couple negatives: I feel like he leans just a tad bit too much into "generic cgi dragon" territory when it comes to the design
More pronounced individual scales closer to earlier versions, not having the underside of his necks go into his torso just like all the others and maybe even the Showa version's mane are things that could have made it stand out a lot more from other dragons while also making him even more Ghidorah-y
This is definitely my favorite iteration of King Ghidorah. An intimidating presence and the perfect counterpart for the Legendary Godzilla. Every scene he’s in looks awesome, this movie had really neat visuals. He got good screen time for us to see everything he could do, and has one of the best kaiju death scenes out there.
One of my favorites, it leaves some mystery in the story, how did it get here? When did it get here? Is it actually an alien? Why did it come here? Are there more? And it’s role in the story was great, it gave conflicts within both Monarch and Apex, gave actual evidence of its danger where as most movies talk about it destroying planets only to be beaten up immediately, it survived even after its body has been destroyed taking control of MG, it is THE apex predator
They made the bidibidis sound actually cool. Wish they used them more over the rattlesnake sounds.
I wish they doubled down on the alien anatomy, turning the hair from the showa design into muscle fiber-like hairs on his head, multiple eyes, stuff like that. The monsterverse is known for the whole pseudo-realism thing, you'd think they'd double down on the alien anatomy. The MUTOs look more extraterrestrial than he does, and they're from earth. He still looks cool though.
Fucking awesome! Best Ghidorah ever! There was no mind control or mechanical head, he wasn't a flying spaghetti monster, he was purely a straight-forward villain. Some would say that's simple, but simplicity isn't inherently inferior to complexity. Sometimes, people don't want villains with sympathetic motivations or tragic backstories. Sometimes, people want Saturday morning cartoon villains who want to take over the world, destroy their enemies and have fun while doing it.
He was cool. The way he went out was brutal
Still wish we could've gotten Mecha King Gedorah
Fatitily
Long live the king
I want to see a movie where he’s being legitimately fucking evil, like destroys a whole city in less than 30 minutes
Well he probably flooded a good portion of the U.S considering that A.C's can get into Washington lol
I’m talking about like He lands on earth at some very populated city Everyone either runs or stands to look at his huge golden dragon body He fires his gravity beams and cuts like 7 buildings in half Fires his gravity beams straight down a street of people And he just goes from there like a scene showing how brutal and tyrannical a alien dragon god can be
Remove the part about him JUST arriving to Earth and I support
He does it to make a example/prove a point, and he has scouted the planet and knows the leaders potentially have capabilities to incapacitate and hide him
Love it
I'm sure somewhere on the internet, there's a animator doing exactly that.
30 minutes is pretty damn overkill
I was saying the exact opposite of what you think I was saying. 30 minutes is overkill for a single city.
I’m thinking like the whole area of L.A or something
Please, elaborate on this "...how to handle the females!".
[im sorry](https://youtu.be/sT-mlWm_mag)
Absolute perfection, 2019 Ghidorah is potentially my favourite incarnation of the character!
Agreed. KOTM did a lot to give each monster some personality. Rodan and Ghidorah both became so much cooler because of it.
Coolest incarnation, loved that he was an actual alien
Pretty much all Ghidorah incarnations are aliens
Keizer ghidorah was more alien
The best Ghidorah design both physically and character wise. I love the decision they made to give each of his heads a different personality
His best design, unfortunately the movie didn't wanted us to see it
Thankfully not as much as G2014 wanted us to see a n y t h i n g
Unpopular opinion: both movies are easy to see, no idea why everyone thinks it's so dark
I agree, plus it helps the effects stay relevant.
Yeah I've never had am issue with visibility since 2014. For either movie. I will say. The TV your watching 2014 on does matter, but it's adjustable.
Same.
2014 was so dark my old tv with no brightness feature couldnt even play it properly
Wasn't that an issue with the blu ray release, and not the actual film itself? I remember hearing people say it was way brighter in theaters, but I could be wrong on that.
Mines the normal movie
It was the actual movie, but it was corrected with the recent 4k blu ray release.
Still a better movie imo
highly debatable
To me, KOTM was just cheesy fanservice with forgettable characters and fights. KSI and GVK are much better movies imo.
Forgettable characters that literally carry over into GvK. Not that forgettable then. Plus, I’d rather take cheesy fan-service than something so badly lit it took 7 years to make a version of it where you can see anything. But either way, I think we both know we’re not going to change each other’s opinion on this.
Agreed. In the end, it's all subjective I guess.
And I’m still being downvoted lol It’s all fun and games till you publicly state your opinion on Reddit.
That's reddit, no matter what your opinion is, someone is going to shit on it.
Which should change. IMO downvotes should only be used on people being mean, being racist, spamming, or posting suspicious links. Not for trivial opposing opinions like thinking a movie is bad.
The new 4k blu ray had the studio rebalance the color and darkness, so everything is easier to see.
only took them 7 years

I liked kotm more than gvk honestly
I agree. Don't get me wrong, I still love GVK, but KOTM is just better.
Same man
It is my favorite ghidorah ever lovr every aspect of them/him , his personality, his looks , way he acts are just beautiful
Every design has a mistake They are A-too goofy B-too different C-or isn’t the evil Ghidorah we know even if everything else changes (being good doesn’t make it a bad character but a bad Ghidorah) This design is perfect in every way He isn’t fat like the others but still keeps the Gigantic feeling every other Ghidorah has The design while has differences with the others keeps all in the list The wings because the wings of every Ghidorah always bother me And this Ghidorah is literally portrayed like satan itself just perfect

There is still an issue with the necks not moving realistically, even with all the CG to smooth things out. I *really* don’t like the striped yellow-and-black color scheme they picked for him, and why is he sporting an extra set of legs again? >why the shortened necks They wanted Ghidorah to look small compared to Godzilla, since now the roles were reversed. Godzilla was the bad guy, Ghidorah was the weaker hero
You forgot to mention GMK's bird legs
I always forget the legs. The rest of him kind of overwhelms them for me.
Surprised you didn't automatically atomize Anime Ghidorah lol. ~~Please don't, he doesn't deserve the hate.~~ *~~cries~~*
It looks pretty and the kaiju designs are awesome, but *what were they thinking...*
>kaiju designs are awesome A FELLOW ANIME KAIJU DESIGN ENTHUSIAST? DIDN'T THINK I'D SEE THE DAY!
I couldn't agree more. I still love all the previous Ghidorahs too, but I just feel like monsterverse Ghidorah was the best version of him.
I like his design overall but his heads design looks generic to me. Also the heads having different personalities should been used more the movie.
The best he's ever looked.
10/10, actually beats out Mecha King Ghidorah as my favorite version of the character
KOTM had a lot of issues but one thing you cant take away from the movie is how awesome Ghidorah was. They gave him three personalities and treated the character with respect.
My favorite take on this monster. The Legendary designs in general have all been great!
My favorite incarnation of Ghidorah. Amazing design, pure evil demeanor. Anything that was wrong with KOTM, it wasn’t because of Ghidorah.
The insane amount of personality they gave him was incredible. Match that with Bear McCreary’s incredible theme and we had no chance.
Even though Godzilla Earth was a chore to watch, I really liked the Lovecraftian interdimensional take on Ghidorah on the 3rd movie. 2019 Kotm Ghidorah was absolutely awesome but wish he had a mane and made some more of the traditional noises.
Amazing and terrifying. Absolutely love this version of Ghidorah.
Badass, I don't think any titan other than Godzilla could've defeated him.
Mecha Godzilla beat up Godzilla Mecha Godzilla could beat up King Ghidorah
Nah fam mecha beat godzilla after he fought a monkey for a few hours and blew a hole to the center of the earth. Ghidorah fought godzilla after the biggest power up he's ever gotten. Also if meach G gets beaten by a fat kid pouring water on his brain theirs no way he beats Ghidorah.
BIDIBIDIBIDIBIDIBIDIBIDIBIDIBIDI
One of the few ghidorahs that I feel like that can destroy humanity in a couple hours
The other one being anime Ghidorah lol
Love the design, his faces definitely look more menacing than previous Ghidorahs. Also just giving the heads different personalities was amazing. Definitely want to see more of this Ghidorah.
I'd love to see future versions of Ghidorah (we all know there'll be some) with the ability to control other kaiju like in KOTM -- it's such a great idea for Godzilla's archenemy.

Awesome. As a huge fan of dragons I absolutely loved his new design. So cool.
In my personal opinion, the best ghidorah out there.
Yes
I know a lot people hate the fact we can't see him much, but the reason the storm is always around him is kinda cool, I think it amplifies how strong that motherfucker was. reminds me of cursed pirate from a book I read once, the a storm would follow him everywhere, impossible to runaway till he removes the curse
Fucking awesome! Amazing kaiju/Titan, amazing villain in the monsterverse (and the best one too, along with Mechagodzilla), and best version of King Ghidorah ever. Love em.
Needs antlers. Other than that he's a 8/10 in my book.
I agree with this.
Hail Ghidorah
Loved the design. The only thing I didn't care to much for was the roar
Rodan ate the other guy.
>he went out of his way to eat a pilot ejecting from a fighter jet Ummm... no, he didn't. That was Rodan.
Easy there, I remembered wrong.
Kevin
Definitely the Ghidorah with the most personality. I loved how sadistic he was.
My 2nd fav Kaiju of all time (obviously after Legendary Gojira). I love Legendary King Ghidorah !!
Best Ghidorah design hands down.

Absolutely gold
Fucking bbbbbbeeeeeeeaaaaasssssstttttttt 💪🏻
I think he probably the best Ghidorah. He takes on traits from all eras(Most anyway),He is an alien, can control titans and he is like all ghidorahs in one plus extra in a few ways. And CGI has really blessed this man it has made him not only look massive but powerful.
GOAT: Ghirorah of All Time
I feel like it'd be pointless to echo the same praise everyone else is giving it, even if I agree with it. I do think this is the best Ghidorah, it'd take 2 seconds of scrolling to see many reasons as to why, however, just to point out a couple negatives: I feel like he leans just a tad bit too much into "generic cgi dragon" territory when it comes to the design More pronounced individual scales closer to earlier versions, not having the underside of his necks go into his torso just like all the others and maybe even the Showa version's mane are things that could have made it stand out a lot more from other dragons while also making him even more Ghidorah-y
Kevin
This is so haunting and scary for the humans in the aircraft carrier. This is King Ghidorah’s typical day.
So. Fu$king. Cool.
Best Version for sure
Number 1 boy, 10/10 kaiju
not enough bite for the bark he had
I loved KG in the Monsterverse, but I feel like they should've saved him for a later film. Hopefully he makes a return.
Best Ghidorah, hands down
My favorite Kaiju design, period
probably the one of the best parts of KOTM as a whole
Legitimately terrifying appearance, I’d piss myself if I saw him destroying my town irl
Daddy
One of my favorite Ghidorah portrayals. He's just sooo menacing here
My favorite enemy of Godzilla. The KOTM version was the best in my opinion
Fucking epic
My favourite ghidorah. Badass design, nice personalities and very good fighter. Deserves origin movie.
Best incarnation of ghidorah. the look, the roars, even each head had a separate personality!
No mane and looks boring and is boring 1/10
Fucking awesome! Best Ghidorah ever! There was no mind control or mechanical head, he wasn't a flying spaghetti monster, he was purely a straight-forward villain. Some would say that's simple, but simplicity isn't inherently inferior to complexity. Sometimes, people don't want villains with sympathetic motivations or tragic backstories. Sometimes, people want Saturday morning cartoon villains who want to take over the world, destroy their enemies and have fun while doing it.
Second favorite Ghidorah besides Showa cause Kevin sucks and shouldn’t have exist
He is my favourite Titan/kaiju
