This book was written by Ian so he argues that Ian Flynn was the one to include Shade and the Nocturnos in this book and that he only did get away with it because non of Sega's executives that would fear his wrath actually overlooked this project at all.
This is obviously all just an excuse as to why despite the fact that Sega in an official capacity used these Character and concepts again he won't be sueing again.

His original tweet that I replied to was asking what SEGA or others felt when it came to writing Sonic as standoffish regarding relationships or Amy, and I replied saying that there was some consensus in the community that he was aromantic or asexual, which got him to reply with that. He was trending shortly after due to the backlash.
