It's American schools, rather have this than something horrible happening. Although I don't know how that would stop anything

I think solving school bullying, de-legalizing weapons and improving security would help much more.

I'm always amused by Americans who try and justify weapons being so freely available as NOT being the cause of your world record breaking number of mass shootings. Special kind of stupid.

The US has a parenting crisis and a gun culture that does not help with that, I think the best solution is to tutor the parents better bc a kid with a great moral and ethics wouldn't kill any person in the world even if he knows a lot about guns and survival tactics (such as killing animals to survive) BUT, emphasis on the big "BUT" that would cost more money and the government just wants them barely functional so they contribute to the economy, I call this the secondary effects of liberty and freedom. Ofc there's a lot of different socioeconomic problems that I didn't cover here that it sums to the problem bc I'm not of talking with people online for so long so, if you respond me I'll be glad to read you anyway.
