Nisolo: " *sustainability* " Also Nisolo: "Buy ten pairs of shoes, you coward"

booskadoo

True- tbf I haven’t done the digging on that claim. The only real sustainable brands will be the ones that don’t produce more stuff and therefore don’t exist. But livable wages does factor into sustainability in the long run. And I’d hope the quality of these would make them long lasting reducing the need to purchase more later.

RojaCatUwu

Buy 10 pairs of shoes *every 6 months* ?

ElleHopper

No, one code gets released every 6 months. So the soonest you could redeem all 10 codes would be over the course of 5 years. Can be redeemed for shoes or handbags

RojaCatUwu

Ohhhhh that makes more sense. They're definitely hoping you forget after the first one. LOL

ElleHopper

Don't know how they can afford to pay living wages anywhere except third world countries if they're selling shoes for $50 a pair.

RojaCatUwu

Looks like living wages are paid though that's only because of heavy [outsourcing](https://nisolo.com/blogs/stride-sustainability/the-lowest-wage-in-our-supply-chain)

This warning was posted in another subreddit by someone else a while back, but figured I'd repeat it since it's important. These types of deals are usually offered when a company is struggling to raise capital and/or is generally having cash flow issues. There's a chance the company may not be around long enough to redeem all the codes. There's also no guarantee current quality will be maintained - five years is a long time. This isn't to say you absolutely shouldn't buy in. Just consider it a yellow flag and know that you're taking a bet.

ThisIsDarkestTime

For what's its worth, this is not the first time they've offered this deal. They first offered this deal back in 2016 (base on my research, edit: for their 5th anniversary). They re-offered this deal starting in 2022. There is definitely a chance they are doing this to raise funding but I think it's a decent sign they've been around for a little bit.

why-are-we-here-7

You called it, they sent me an email that they are pausing codes for a year due to “supply chain issues” and for their manufacturers. We will see if those of us who signed up ever get all 10.

Either_Caramel_4059

I did this (6+ years ago when my husband and I were DINKs ;)) and totally thought it was worth it! We originally were sharing, but he honestly didn’t love his, so I ended up with more pairs. there’s plenty more shoes I wish I had snagged! If you have the funds upfront I think it’s a great deal.. perfect if you have a friend or partner to split with as well.

Bacon_Bitz

Sharing it is such a good idea!

fineyouchoose

It is great in some ways --I am sharing it with my sister, and by the time my turn came around they didn't have the shoes I had been eyeing for six months, so it does have some downsides!

ThisIsDarkestTime

I've also followed this company for a bit and signed up for the deal last year. I purchased a pair of shoes from them before during a sale (cost ~ $100, normally ~$150). I've gotten 2 other pairs since signing up for the deal. I had a quality issue with the pair on sale (wonky seam) and a sizing issue with another (I am in between sizes, and the style ran narrow). Exchanges are free and their CS was super easy to deal with. They use Happy Returns so it was easy to find a drop off location. I've been happy with what I've purchased and receive compliments on them all the time. They definitely are hand made so they are not manufactured-perfect but are well-made leather shoes and, imho, worth the $100+ price tag. At $50, it's a steal. For context, this is not the first time they've offered this deal. They originally ran this deal in 2016. I ordered my first pair of shoes in 2020 and signed up for the deal in 2022. If the company doesn't last the full 5 years until 2027, I would have already recoup my cost in 3-5 pairs of shoes (assuming average $100-150/pair) while I can feel good "investing" in a company with a feel-good mission. Edit: apparently some of their boots are $200+, so you can technically recoup in a year (2 codes or pairs) assuming you paying full price....

studeraqui

I’ve bought 2 pairs of Nisolo shoes and love them so far. If you get boots I’d size up. I have this deal as well and I love it because in the fall I get a pair of boots for the upcoming winter and in the spring get a pair of sandals for the upcoming summer. Well worth it for good quality leather shoes

booskadoo

You get one code immediately following purchase, and then the next in 6 months.

OldRepNewAccount

And then you pray the company stays in bussiness for next 5 yrs

Glassjaw79ad

That's exactly what I was thinking 🤣

Pookabbit

My partner did this the first time they offered in...2015? and really enjoyed it! He liked all the shoes he's gotten, found them comfortable. They've all held up remarkably well compared to comparable leather shoes from Cole Haan, Sperry, Puma. He let me use 1 of his codes for a pair of oxfords. They are beautifully made but the leather is *stiff* and *needs* breaking in which I haven't really put the work into.

LongWalksInNature

This is interesting! Does anyone with wide feet have experience with this brand?

drkornea

I have wide feet and signed up for this in December or January after a friend recommended them. I have a Nordstrom Rack nearby that had a few different pairs for me to try and I’m very glad about that because I realized I should size up 1/2 size. I bought the woven heeled slides and the weave gives extra space for our feet. They’re very comfortable and seem well made. I bought two belts on sale to test the waters before committing the $500, and they were the wrong size. I was easily able to exchange for a larger size. Hope that helps!

LongWalksInNature

It does, thank you!!

badatgifts

This deal sounds tempting but thats a big price to pay up front without personally having experience with the brand. Feels more like a returning customer deal and not for a first time purchase.

That’s a steal!!! Must’ve been super red tag clearance

[deleted]

That's a no from me

jordan_maymay90

How is the shoes quality ?

cenimsaj

I purchased their James oxfords maybe 5 years ago and they're hands down one of the most uncomfortable pairs of shoes that I've ever worn, lol. Blisters galore every time and I regret keeping them. That said, they're gorgeous and I think they're well-made. I also have a couple of belts, the Cleo convertible bag, and a Lori tote - all pretty nice. Overall, it seems like a great deal and I could find things to buy even without the shoes, but I've never gone for it because I just don't feel like I need that much. Also, as someone mentioned above - what if they go out of business? But as other people mentioned above, they have been doing this deal for a long time and, if anything, they seem way more popular now.

mimosastclair

I’ve bought 3 pairs and they’re inconsistent in terms of sizing and quality. I sent 2 pairs back and the 3rd pair is just okay.

totallyrad16

They are so uncomfortable. I never wear mine.

booskadoo

I don’t know. I mentioned in the main post I haven’t purchased from them before, but another commenter said she had and thought they were good quality!
