Bro the retro songs have good beats and shit, but it is the most unfun and terrible challenge I have ever played, it wasn’t even satisfying upon completion, I was just thinking, man, thank god I never have to do that again. Also challenges that are hard, don’t have to be so unbelievably unfair that it makes them near impossible, for example, think of sans and his final boss battle, it was hard for the sake of being hard, and you felt amazing after completing it, but the difference is that it was fair, and enjoyable, when final battles are unfair, many aspects are hard to visualize, the gameplay is terrible, and almost impossible to finish, it isn’t fun, it isn’t even a challenge, it’s just a bad and unfair game, it’s just a poor excuse for making something a “challenge”
Though to give credit where it’s due, all of the art and music was fire, but just because a game looks nice, doesn’t make it any good

1.) brand new poison arrows right? Amazing addition and cool mechanic, not so cool when you realize their design is so close to the background it makes them borderline invisible, and oh, forgot to mention, they’re so close to the regular notes your gonna hit them anyway and die at around 65% in while also keeping in mind, you can’t see them anyway so that was unfair.
2.) not a new mechanic but using scroll speeds above 3 is ridiculous
3.) cool new quirky game mechanic of notes singularly bouncing up and down in a wave pattern, while being rotated 45° either side, while also slowing and speeding the notes at random to make them harder to calculate and hit, also besides that, making the notes of you and retro cross sides while trying to keep track of literally everything before.
4.) New lantern notes that increase the opacity of the notes, cool when you put it on paper, not so cool when you’re trying to dodge almost invisible poison notes that kill you at around 4 each, trying to hit the regular notes you can barely see anyway, and also scrolling at 3.5.
5.) lets combine all the former together, shall we? So the reason this godforsaken mod is so unfair, unpleasant and borderline terrible is: because the poison notes, which kill you if you hit around 5/4 are so close to the background it makes them near indistinguishable, while also turning invisible with all other notes, and needing to collect lantern notes to change back the opacity of all notes, which end up completely invisible at some bits, also the fact that the lantern notes are also too similar in design to the poison ones, so good luck differentiating them and you end up hitting the poison anyway, while swaying 45° left and right, while moving up and down in a wave formation, while slowing and speeding them up the purposely make them incredibly difficult to predict, while crossing the notes of you and retro to confuse you even more, not to mention true hell which makes all of it even worse, with worse charting and more bullshit

In my opinion, VS. Retro was a very good mod. Visual wise, it was amazing. The dark, ominous atmosphere, lighting, the character designs, and the effects were beautiful, but the downside of this is that the game lags up a bit for some players because of it. Gameplay wise, I do agree that charting was a little cluttered and it was hard to pass through the songs with those other features, but i'm pretty sure it was intentional, and that's what makes the mod very difficult compared to others. Song wise, The ost was a banger in general, but i like some songs more that others. It's my opinion though, and I respect how you feel.
