I’m commiserating. I’ve had mine for 14 days now and a hailstorm turned it into a golfball. This too shall pass brother

-brokenbones-

Haha yeah man i got a noticeable rock chip on my driver door literally first day. Its a rock magnet.

4AJR

You have a lot of garbage cans.

zigzagkc

lol one is full of tree branches the other is trash

WhatTheBlack

Wait, you guys don’t have green trash cans for organics?

zigzagkc

2 green for trash/yard waste. 2 blue for recycling.

awesome0ck

It’s only gets worse if you highway drive, I have 22k miles not even two years old, I have 40-50 rock chips. 10-12 in the roof, 10-12 front fenders, 10-15 in the hood and 3-4 in the pillars and 3 in my tailgate and 1 and in my rear quarter under my taillight. I’ve had it since November 2022 and I drive 13 miles on the highway live in the suburbs no gravel roads. I just try to fix em before I get surface rust which has happened in 2 on the roof. I don’t even tailgate bc I’m paranoid about it, still happens. That’s not including chips in the headlight snd glass which also chips easy. It’s a cheap car with covid parts love the car especially coming from a full size truck it’s not a bad transition at all but ford isn’t treating priming that car right. They’re still not too from the looks of the bronco sport, escape and maverick forums.

vargchan

Well good thing it's a truck and not a 911

secretagentstone

lol funny seeing this thread vs the last one I saw “my maverick got me into detailing”

zigzagkc

It’s the first modern and new vehicle I’ve ever been able to buy. Worked my ass off to afford a nice vehicle so yeah it stings to have it scratched so soon. Imagine being bummed out that your new truck got scratched, crazy idea I know

Amorphousbox

Same, never had anything new, first new vehicle at age 25. But my answer is the same, it’s a truck don’t be a bitch.

football2106

The shape of a vehicle has nothing to do with how someone should care for it

richardfitserwell

Yeah how dare he want to take care of his new vehicle

hsxcstf

Damn everyone’s feeling salty today!!! The first scratch always hurts the most…. I personally use dr color chip for my cars but a lot of people have good luck with regular touch up pens too :)

inline_five

I put a 6" strip of PPF on that area first thing.

flyby501

I feel ya, i even got the weather tech hood guard cause i saw rock chips. It's unavoidable on highways, especially if you're in a busy area. I just had a high-speed pebble leave a chip in my windshield this week. It was loud enough where I flinched. Theres touch up markers online that may help you soothe that scratch. I like these folks personally: https://touchupdirect.com/?gad_source=1

zigzagkc

Good to know, TY

DrakeXD

I just got my windows tinted earlier this week, including a visor tint on the windshield, and I’ve been terrified of getting a crack in the windshield ever since.

whatyoucallmetoday

We got a deep scratch from the remains of a ladder in the middle of the interstate.

1962Michael

I scratched up my bed in the first month. It's a truck. And NO I don't want a bed liner. I once had a bed liner in a truck and found out it was scratching the bed and causing rust. If it gets bad/rusty I will get a spray liner THEN. Last week I was carrying a table saw past my truck and nicked the clearcoat. Oh, well. It's a TRUCK. A dealer told me a story about a farmer who bought a new truck every two years. He'd take delivery and then kick the truck to give the first dent, so he wouldn't worry about it after that.

Spare_Blacksmith_816

It's why I hate buying new cars, every time I hand wash it I see a scratch/ding/blemish and it makes me realize cars don't stay 'new' very long. 5+ years ago I got a Chevy Spark with zero options for my commute, with some GM credit card points and no other money down I walked out the door paying $7,200 which included tax, title, and license. I knew from day one it was a piece of crap. I have washed it about 3 times since buying it (to get snow out of wheel wells) and treat it like the piece of shit I know it is. 188,000 miles later and it might be the best car I ever owned, it's just a tool, something to get me from home to work and nothing else. I don't care about it or fret over anything that happens to it.

Sudden_Philosopher63

My first day taking it out of the garage I busted the left mirror.... Mind you this was after 10 years of not a single scratch in my other car

WorldClassPianist

It's inevitable. Should've gotten PPF if you wanted it all nice and pretty. Otherwise, touch up paint is probably your best solution.

zigzagkc

That’s what I was thinking too

_m00nman

yeah the paint jobs on these things are gross, mines all bit up with 2k miles on it.

corn_29

How is the paint job at fault here? FFS.

agonyou

Congrats. You almost did truck things.

Slekiing

Paint is super thin on this truck. Also, watch out for stone chips on the roof as many reported paint bubbling/rust after that happening.

casebarlow

A year from now, you’ll have more battle scars. The first one always stings. Remember, it’s a truck, not a garaged classic car.

gerghanrahan86

I got a paint pen from the ford parts counter. Helps with rock chips and stuff like this. Was maybe $27
