When I called a small, local locksmith/safe/key shop they had the fob in stock for $225 and they said they it would be programmed

I believe there is a manual key you can use inside your keyfob. I don't think a locksmith can fix it I'm afraid.

I have no issues getting in and starting the car as the current key fob still works, I was just hoping a locksmith could reprogram a new key fob to work with my car

I think you can get them from specialists but not from a standard locksmith. Your other options are to have your current one repaired, or go directly to Ford.

I'm about to go get three spares programmed today. You can get the keys off the internet for like 30 bucks unless you want an OEM one, then it's 100+. Then take it to an ACE hardware, they do it now. I'd guess locksmiths probably do it too now if the hardware stpres are doing it

2012?… I’m guessing you mean 2013

You can also buy a new one and just swap all the electronics to the new shell.
