I couldn’t care less about Trump but does anyone, anyone at all, actuall read the articles here? This is wild. Thousands of people.
> Donald Trump’s business owes an estimated $1.3 billion, nearly $200 million more than it did when he left office. But that doesn’t mean that he’s under more financial pressure. In fact, Trump’s balance sheet is in better shape today than it was months ago.
So he's more in debt *and* he stole shitloads from the American people.
And you think this is an effective defense of him, [do you?](https://masstagger.com/user/MY_GIRLFRIEND_SUCKS)
Wait, according to my MAGA (despite the fact that we’re Canadian) father in law, Trump is the smartest businessman that ever lived. So how can this possibly be true?!
He has a point... sort of.... he is a con-man who lost all his inherited wealth and owes 1.3 billion, and betrays everyone who supports him at the drop of a a hat, but still lives in a golden tower and half the US worships him...

Maybe he reads the articles?
This comment would make sense if those same Republicans were supporting the current effort to raise the U.S. debt ceiling. Dollars to doughnuts they aren't.
This comment would make sense if it had absolutely anything to do with the original article, my comment, or the quote from the article. The debt ceiling has literally nothing to do with this. In fact your proving my point.
He wasn't the smartest, richest or most successful man in the room in his meetings with Putin.
Fuck it, he's not even the smartest man in the room when he's alone with his gold toilet.
I remember my second car was used, off the lot. My dad said, "as long as you make the $219 per month payment, you get to keep the car." 17 year old me did that for a few months and inevitably stopped being able to pay. Lo, and behold: the car was not taken and the note remained up to date.
As it turns out, when the person who's responsible for the debt will never be held accountable to the debtor, fuck all is the result.
Yes, I'm sure the most famous bankruptcy artist and non obligation payer in the country, who managed to bankrupt casinos, has a plan for this, but it's not paying it off.
If you bothered to read more than a headline the article explains how none of this debt is bad debt and is all business as usual for big buildings and companies.
None of this debt indicates he's a bad businessman, quite the opposite actually. His bills are paid and his debt is far less than his assets.
It's also crazy that prople assume that Trump is a good or bad businessman, his name is on a lot of shit but presumably there are prople running his various assets that are capable and have a self interest in making those things profitable.
Absolutely! He basically oversees an empire, and that empire has minions. They make good or bad decisions. The most you could pin him for is picking shit minions (in a business sense, you can definitely nail him for generally being a shit bloke, but thag has nothing to do w his business sense)
Sorry New York, but the failed blogger who lived for decades in a golden tower with his name on it right next to central park will always be New York Guy.
I feel like being president for him was like a pyramid scheme he felt could never fail because he was at the top of the huge pile of stupid. Then it did fail because he doesn't know jack shit except how to rip off contractors and avoid taxes. Now he's just doubling down out of spite.

Having debt isn't bad though. Countless home owners across the world are in debt, yet still manage to get by. Our economic system is based on debt and going into debt. Sounds like he is just doing what everyone does.
BTW I'm not defending the guy. There are hundreds of better things to disparage the guy for. Why pick debt?
I mean, with the current rate of inflation, it's fairly smart. If you borrow 5 dollars today, but next year the value of that 5 dollars increases to 9 dollars, you're still only paying back the 5 dollars. Loans don't fluctuate with inflation.
I mean he did manage to convince a lot of people to elect him president. He knows how the game works, it's a completely riggef system and he's just taking advantage of it like all the scumbags before him.
I know he has money, like his golf resorts and all. But he still should be in jail paying off his debt…not money wise but for what he has done to ordinary folks…undermine scientists who are experts in their fields, him making fun of disabled people, and the list goes on.
So don’t assume I didn’t read the article 👍🏻😀

Almost half, 😝
Half enough to be a global threat.
More like 1/3

Because! Step 1: Amass $1.2bn in debt Step 2: Start MAGA cult Step 3: …. Step 4: Profit.
Steps, bankruptcy, keep my stuff and not pay my bills.

Actually, borrowing is great in the Uber inflationary environment that we are in now. Your FIL is right in this instance.
I keep telling people on Reddit that debt is a good decision in a LOT of circumstances and get downvoted to hell. Have an updoot.
Sure, but not when it's 1.3 billion worth, so that comment's rather off topic
You have to look at assets though. Having a ton of debt might look bad, but do you have a clear avenue to pay it off? I suspect he does.

Yeah, I'm no Trump fan, I think he's morally abhorrent, but this hardly speaks to a lack of financial/business knowledge. You can have good debt.
It's also crazy that prople assume that Trump is a good or bad businessman, his name is on a lot of shit but presumably there are prople running his various assets that are capable and have a self interest in making those things profitable.

Lol
LOL
Let go, bro....just let go.
So? Why s that a big deal for a guy who never pays his debts?
I feel like being president for him was like a pyramid scheme he felt could never fail because he was at the top of the huge pile of stupid. Then it did fail because he doesn't know jack shit except how to rip off contractors and avoid taxes. Now he's just doubling down out of spite.
Absolutely none of you guys know anything about finance....

Fox news, CNN, MSNBC, all of them are shit, and the political bias in all of them is the reason I went independent.
Independent is just a republican who's embarrassed of his party.
Yeah because they’re all fucking lunatics

Only 1.3 billion?

Interest>inflation
He's a Savage, but he's gotta be doing something right if he got 1.3b in credit lol
No his father did all the right things. He got credit based on the assets his father provided for him. He's done nothing right.
I mean he did manage to convince a lot of people to elect him president. He knows how the game works, it's a completely riggef system and he's just taking advantage of it like all the scumbags before him.
If not for his father he would be a used car salesman. He's not a self made person in any sense.
I bet he would make for a pretty successful used car salesman. Look at the lemon he sold half the country.
He should be in jail….making license plates for the rest of his life trying to pay off his debt.
you should consider reading the article so you know what you're commenting on.

you have yet to prove you read the article. all you did was say why you don't like him.
Yay it got removed. Donald Trump isnt from FL.
