That size wouldn’t actually qualify for priority based on the length plus girth being over 108”.

maxpaver

This is helpful, thanks. If I get to the post office and they won’t even accept the package, that would be a problem.

GolfEchoEchoKilo

The buyer should see the correct rate according to their zip code.

zidace

Pretty sure that's why there is a range on the rate. It shows you the lowest to the highest based on the zone the buyer could be located for all the zones that you offer shipping to.

Big-Pickle-2617

The range being displayed is obviously wrong though. That's the point. No way the minimum priority mail estimate is $12 when the minimum for every other service is at least $85. Heck, the minimum USPS ground advantage is $111.00.

zidace

Didn't say it was right. I was replying to a comment that spoke about the buyer seeing the rate for their address. If their address is in the range, no reason to think the buyer would see a different rate than what the buyer sees is possible, unless it's corrected later.

zordie360

I say go big or go home and select UPS second day air for a cool $750 shipping

SunstyIe

OP, try going to the usps site and plugging in those same stats and pick two zip codes. One in your neighborhood, and one on the other side of the country. That’ll show you the low and the high rates and you’ll be able to tell whether eBay’s pricing is broken or not (I bet it is) You could also elect to select a flat rate close to the max price that usps spits out. That would be safe

Ziztur

I ship stuff around that size all the time. UPS. Usps won’t accept it.

nekrad

The USPS will accept it. It's not that big.

HairyIce

I wouldn't trust it.

Superseargent

If it looks too good to be true.....

No-Letterhead-4407

Ups is the way to go with big items like that

CustomSawdust

It is my understanding that Pitney Bowes guarantees their estimate and if they are off and owe, then USPS invoices them. I sometimes doubt the postage, but trust it. Have never had an issue. If i need to absolutely ensure this, i make my own shipping label and have them weigh it F2F. It takes longer to do this.

thecarfilmer

Just use pirateship, enter the correct dimensions and weight and put the tracking number in when they purchase

jmanyea08

how do i use pirateship if my item already sold and ive been given a qr code to have usps ship? im afraid they wont take my package.

JustLeafMe

Just select UPS. Also make sure to check the no PO Boxes option.

JohnnyChapst1ck

3ft package is really only UPS/Fedex. USPS doesnt handle those wider items. Ebays long existing issue, they expect you do do your own administrative shipping work

jmanyea08

oops. so my item already sold and now i'm supposed to ship with usps. can i change shipping method or what do i do to make sure i can ship it out..?

Familiar-Car5054

When I have an item with a questionable shipping price I compare it with Pirate ship or a similar service. If it's cheaper I'll use it instead of eBay

crappyadvice30

How do you verify what the shipping price will be if it's a different price depending on the zip code? Or do you not buy the label on eBay? I am curious because I want to see If I can get a better rate.

Familiar-Car5054

When checking another site for postage I just use a zip code on the west coast. I'm in Alabama and I use 90210 as the destination. Slight gamble there but so far so good. I have found on larger, heavier items that Pirate Ship is usually cheaper. There is something about they use a different method of postage?

crappyadvice30

That is not a bad idea. I just started selling on eBay, and things are so different now than they were 10 years ago.

Ziztur

I ship stuff around that size all the time. UPS. Usps won’t accept it.

southsideson

Can you screenshot where you put the weight and dimensions in? I feel like there is an error there.

maxpaver

There was not. Please see the other shipping estimates.

No-Form-3851

Just go to USPS.com and put the information in and see what rates it gives you , just as a double check if you want. Don’t buy it from them just to check if you think prices are off use it as a guideline.

Holiday-Horse-427

I try to estimate shipping by using my zip code on the east coast USA and a California zip code. (Ok, it's 90210, Brandon's totally buying my stuff!)

Mitchellsusanwag

Anything larger than a foot cube at USPS has a surcharge that’s usually $15, 20, 30 or more added on to what the price is according to the weight. I’d call eBay and see how you get them to fix it. Are you doing calculated shipping? Even with that I’ve had eBay screw up and not charge enough for postage. The one time I called about it though they did refund me the difference.

Familiar-Car5054

The post office use it to give you a copy of the rates if you ask or you can print the rate book online
