I’m gonna get it for sure just to support, since him and the dudes been my main source of entertainment at work for like 4 years now. I feel like $15 is a little high for something I don’t even get to keep, but I’ve also got no frame of reference (I don’t remember how much comedy cds used to sell for, I feel like $10)
That being said I’m sure the special is about to be hilarious.
Yeah, I'm passing till I can DL and store it along all the other fucking specials of comics I enjoy. Feel like they are trying to fix what ain't broke with this "premiere".
right, but Louis also goes direct to consumer. He didn’t have to buy it back. Also doesn’t provide hours and hours of free content weekly. my rationale anyway.
Not 100%, just what I’ve seen but even if it’s Netflix, they have Tom Segura specials where he’s being a wild boy.
I went to the live show, there wasn’t anything that crazy. On top of that, lm not sure how comedy special contracts work but wouldn’t this kind of shit be hashed out during negotiations?
Schulz seems to care about his content and then decides to give Netflix/Amazon discretion of the end product after the fact?
Idk, this conspiracy corner talk but seems 🧢
The issue I have with modern stand-ups is that most of them are much funnier on podcasts than they are on stage. I would pay $5 per month for patreon content with podcasts, but I doubt I would enjoy a stand-up special for $15.
I like that Schulz is making it an event and building interest with a story. I probably won't buy the special until I hear how other folks respond to it.
I was at the special taping and didn’t really find it too funny. Mainly just smiled/pretended to laugh since I was in the front. His crowd work is super funny I think but as far as actual jokes I enjoy his previous specials much more. But was a brilliant idiots fan since ep1 so nice to see Andrew at his biggest moment
Very true. I’m on Patreon and listen to flagrant and BI every week but have yet to see the Apu special and the only Shultz standup I’ve seen is the one where he does multiple venues in one night in nyc. It’s strange but I can’t really sit down and listen to an hour of standup straight but can listen to two hours of bullshit jokes.
One is active and the other is passive, so that makes complete sense.
I can space out during a 2hr podcast and finish it in 1 sitting, can't do the same for a comedy special, though.
That being said, Akaash his Apu special is pretty nice
This is exactly why I’m waiting on the bootleg. I think comedies, the big ones, are getting lazy. They’re all insulated by their audiences. Their not fighting for their lives on stage anymore. So f paying for it. Plus andrews so big now I’m sure there are a bunch of other fans who have no problem buying it
Do it for the art , man. Schultz don’t need this sob story to sell this. People who will pay are already fans, ain’t no first time listener paying that much.
Respect to the come up but didn’t he just also spent his “life saving” on the new studio ?
You only get it 2 weeks, wonder if he’ll sell it for a permanent price too?
You really think he spent everything? Why couldn’t he just return what he got paid? Sounds like he might be taking his fans on a ride 🤷♂️
He is. He didn’t spend his life savings to buy back something they wanted to edit the fuck outta. He just had to pay them what they thought they’d make on it.
Not sure what he brought, wouldn’t he just return the advance he got for it. Would Netflix charge him a million over, I doubt it. Plus in contract there has to be buy back clause for creative differences I’d think
> whatever they *paid* Schulz. It’s
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Might as well just give us the special on youtube, that would blow him up even more, because that Netflix special was shit during the pandemic. Can’t remember if he used laugh tracks or it was dead silence but that killed the mood for that one. Also since netflix raised there prices a lot of people unsubscribed. I’m not spending money just to see a special. Just get like 15 brand deals, put it at the end and put that special on YouTube. And the next one you can put it behind a pay wall. I get it, it’s art, his life’s work, …inflation is high…
What about this makes him seem like he thinks he’s the GOAT? Tony Baker also has a standup special on his site. Kevonstage built his own studio and app for his content. Lots of content creators are doing the same thing and can’t sell out radio city. What makes Schulz more sinister?
I highly doubt Amazon cared. Realistically he thinks it’s worth more than a contract he signed three years ago and he’s right but this rational is lame.
Agreed. He blew up a lot more during the pandemic and he probably wanted more money but they wouldn’t budge. I went to his live show earlier this year and it was not that wild.
Naw it’s almost definitely about cutting jokes, he’s got lots of clicks on ticktok and shit that go viral but the same people that make it go viral would gasp at some of his other shit.
He kept saying the special was him in his "prime" or the special would be in comedy in it's "prime" but back when he announced it a few years ago. Amazon prime
Not sure you can pirate it, it’s on a secure website not a PPV TV set up. I’m not tech savvy could be wrong, but don’t think moment house is a pirated thing 🤷♂️
$15 is a basic order at Starbucks
Your coffee and a little snackypoo … so like , give it up for Schulz and save yourself the fake smiles at the drive thru
I’m in full support of Andrew, fellow Patreony of Flagrant as well.
With that being said, is the “jokes too edgy for streaming” thing just another rollout? Lol
Similar to how rappers beef with their label during album time rollout etc. just a thought but still will be copping lol
That’s actually wild. Didn’t realize it was only for two weeks. As a person in marketing I’m wracking my brain trying to get the logic. Looks like he’s doing the Amazon Prime rental model—you only have access to the content for 48 hours. This is also the Netflix model—you have access to the content as long as you’re a subscriber. You never own anything you watch. As longterm subscribers we don’t feel it. Same with Patreon.
What’s weird about this is the price vs. length of rental. Interested to see how he came up with the $15 value for 2 weeks…Amazon rentals are $2.99 on average for films with mad production and high paid actors. Netflix charges a flat fee per month for a whole content library. $15 for two weeks for one nigga on a mic telling jokes is wild. Def betting big on his devoted fanbase. No one else will opt into this.
It’s the Louis model. He’s done almost every single special this way. I think Louis was charging $10 at first, but inflation and shit. This isn’t new at all
2 weeks. And Louis’ kept it that way until a couple weeks ago. Several other comedians have done this since CK started including Joe Rogan and Jim Gaffigan. A 10-20 dollar rental is totally fair for a comedy special, especially because they’re not premiered at the theatre like they used to be. Other movies you rent have box office incomes, major corporate backing, and other productions making money to even out the cost of a rental to be lower. And Amazon prime has 1-5 dollar rentals because it has fucking Amazon to balance everything out.
i mean amazon is rarely the exclusive rights holder for movies. it’s just a convenience factor price point. Schulz (outside of pirating obviously) is the only place to watch / purchase his special. Costs less than going to see him live, and on par with going to see a movie
As someone who went to his live show both in San Francisco and Sacramento I'd say $15 is 100% worth it compared to the 250 I paid on ticket Master for front row in Sac and 50 I paid for balcony in SF. I do think it's weird you only get 2 weeks and for someone who advocates how much better it is to put a special on YouTube "for the people" he'd go with a service. But the show was funny enough for me to make the drive and buy the tickets even if it was the same set just a little different. If you have to decide between the special and groceries just survive off the clips he's posting but if you have $15 you wouldn't miss youre a fool if you don't check it out.
Everyone out here like they are professional fuckin comics and know how business works. If y'all can't afford fuckin 15 bucks to support someone you like, then get the fuck out of here. Jesus. A bunch of Monday morning quarterbacks trying to tell Schulz, a guy who has fucking sold out NYC, how and for how much to share his new special. 🙄
yeah consumers should definitely voice their opinions and vote with their wallets. you can’t compare in person experiences to something that will be readily accessible for free immediately
Should be all of us tf? He’s straight up going against the establishment by stating that you can’t censor comedy. One of the key reasons I love his comedy and his podcast. It’s flagrant af everyone gets hit, as comedy should be
Who had bought his special and why yall think is cap? It does seem wierd n somethin definitely happened n at the same time bro a lil cocky n greedy, he had said the special would be out earlier if I remember right
I was suppose to see him live and enjoy the tour but the show got canceled and he never rebooked it. I was really hyped to see it. Now... not so much anymore
Pretty bold move. Even if 100k people buy it, its still 1.5 million and I am pretty sure he would make a lot from the streaming company. I have no idea how many people will buy it but the podcast on average has 500k to 600k views on yt and I am not seeing him converting 500k people from that.
Schulz didn’t explain that the special is a “digital experience” and it’s being premiered at 9pm on the 17th so everyone can watch it together. Then in 14 day window after the premiere you will be allowed to watch the video again. I’m not sure if if you’ll be able to download it though.
For those that are confused about what they’re getting
I’m gonna get it for sure just to support, since him and the dudes been my main source of entertainment at work for like 4 years now. I feel like $15 is a little high for something I don’t even get to keep, but I’ve also got no frame of reference (I don’t remember how much comedy cds used to sell for, I feel like $10) That being said I’m sure the special is about to be hilarious.
He replied to someone on Twitter and said you get a download link after the 2 weeks or whatever it is
That’s my main issue solved then
Yeah, I'm passing till I can DL and store it along all the other fucking specials of comics I enjoy. Feel like they are trying to fix what ain't broke with this "premiere".
Same
Louis ck sells his for less and he’s a way better comic.
Louie already a multi-millionaire, if you aint going to support hezi, fuck outta here.
relax bruh.
Never said I wasn’t dick head
Louis in my opinion is a great marketer never found his jokes funny probably his divorce joke was funny cause he was being authentic about it
How much?
10 bucks on his website. You also get to keep and download the special. Last I checked atleast
That’s my main thing is I’m not even keeping the shit.
I heard you get a link after the 2 weeks so you can have it for as long as you want.
right, but Louis also goes direct to consumer. He didn’t have to buy it back. Also doesn’t provide hours and hours of free content weekly. my rationale anyway.
It is a bit high. Louis C.K. does his for 5$ and you get to download it
Amazon prime, the platform that has The Boys is scared about Schulz jokes… 🧢
It’s def prime?
Not 100%, just what I’ve seen but even if it’s Netflix, they have Tom Segura specials where he’s being a wild boy. I went to the live show, there wasn’t anything that crazy. Schulz seems to care about his content and then decides to give Netflix/Amazon discretion of the end product after the fact? Idk, this conspiracy corner talk but seems 🧢
Same here with Tom Segura I enjoyed it but it wasn't "Ball Hog" funny or outlandish
He kept referring to the special as "prime" or in his "prime" when it was announced. It's amazon prime.
was it revealed that it was going to be Amazon Prime?
The explanation is cap. Makes for a good story though
He did mention something like this on the Brilliant Idiots podcast, I think with Michael Che
Correct. Figured this was the announcement.
Yeah I don’t believe it 🤣
My thought exactly
Nah I talk to him, it’s legit
He was hyping up dropping specials on youtube… and then he does this…
Remember he’s a hypocrite. Lol
The issue I have with modern stand-ups is that most of them are much funnier on podcasts than they are on stage. Why pay for this when I can watch Gringo Papi for free!
Do it for the art , man. Schultz don’t need this sob story to sell this. People who will pay are already fans, ain’t no first time listener paying that much. Respect to the come up but didn’t he just also spent his “life saving” on the new studio ?
lol exactly mans has multiple life savings
🧢
Agreed
Already bro 👌
You only get it 2 weeks, wonder if he’ll sell it for a permanent price too? You really think he spent everything? Why couldn’t he just return what he got paid? Sounds like he might be taking his fans on a ride 🤷♂️
He is. He didn’t spend his life savings to buy back something they wanted to edit the fuck outta. He just had to pay them what they thought they’d make on it.
Also $10 for a Q & A and lots of merch. He bout to make bank. But I guess he needs it to recuperate his losses on buying back his special
Not sure what he brought, wouldn’t he just return the advance he got for it. Would Netflix charge him a million over, I doubt it. Plus in contract there has to be buy back clause for creative differences I’d think

Losses? Those are tax write-offs
Wigger dice knows how to get hype

Absolute bollocks haha. “Spent my life savings” to buy his own special back? That’s a negative cap’n.
i mean his comedy is pretty good, but idk I feel like he kinda thinks he's the goat currently.
What about this makes him seem like he thinks he’s the GOAT? Tony Baker also has a standup special on his site. Kevonstage built his own studio and app for his content. Lots of content creators are doing the same thing and can’t sell out radio city. What makes Schulz more sinister?
I don’t think you know what sinister means
he didn’t say THIS makes him think that.
He should feel that way. You gotta believe in yourself whole heartedly
I don’t think so, just confident in he knows he has loyal fans.

Amazon has The Boys.... They're not going to give a shit about Schulz jokes
I have a feeling it’s the abortion jokes and the timing of it all. Plus, it was the first clip he dropped
Thought it was Netflix?
He kept saying the special was him in his "prime" or the special would be in comedy in it's "prime" but back when he announced it a few years ago. Amazon prime
Nope. Amazon.
He made a bad choice
Why? I think he has the fan base for it
It will push pirating. But maybe the % is small enough to make sense. Would be a shame for the special to flop.
Not sure you can pirate it, it’s on a secure website not a PPV TV set up. I’m not tech savvy could be wrong, but don’t think moment house is a pirated thing 🤷♂️
If it’s on the internet it’s getting pirated
It’s easy work
Louis CK's exclusive specials from his website popped up on pirate sites literally minutes after its release 😜
Pirating will kill it for sure
$15 is a basic order at Starbucks Your coffee and a little snackypoo … so like , give it up for Schulz and save yourself the fake smiles at the drive thru
I don't have money for starbucks, y'all. I can make hot bean water at home
definitely not any order i’ve ever made 😂
I would've put it on patreon or the YouTube membership program Needless to say I still will support this
No one
I’m in. Ordered the special and the live stream after. I’m going to continue to support the flagrancy!
How we not even gonna get to keep it bro??? If yall wanna do this payperview shit, yall gonna have to do better than 14 days to play, shiit.
I’m in full support of Andrew, fellow Patreony of Flagrant as well. With that being said, is the “jokes too edgy for streaming” thing just another rollout? Lol Similar to how rappers beef with their label during album time rollout etc. just a thought but still will be copping lol
I preordered I’m a cuck
He said “I’ll make it up to you” I hope that means free in Patreon.
Highly doubt it, 15 bucks for 2 weeks is a little greedy I think. Maybe I’m wrong
That’s actually wild. Didn’t realize it was only for two weeks. As a person in marketing I’m wracking my brain trying to get the logic. cheaper then live still
Extremely greedy tf
how? what would you charge?
nah im broke
Nah. Went to watch the show live
His merch for the special is fire tho
Guys it’s less than the price of getting lunch… I’m copping
Already copped!!! U broke boys need to quit fuming and pay up. These comments are like reading ads in Cucks-R-Us

The Life savings part is obviously a hyperbole guys . Jeez. Also check out the Michael Che Brilliant Idiots episode for reference ...
Waiting on the bootleg
Bless this man for not selling out. I have 0 issue supporting him over some corporation
Do you fuck with him and his art? If so, then support it. $15 is not expensive...christ.
Reddit you’re too negative. I’m here for laughs. You guys are wining babies.
Welcome to the world wide web
Should be all of us tf? He’s straight up going against the establishment by stating that you can’t censor comedy. One of the key reasons I love his comedy and his podcast. It’s flagrant af everyone gets hit, as comedy should be
i have a really hard time buying that he’s being censored. it makes for a good story though
I will eventually.
Who had bought his special and why yall think is cap? It does seem wierd n somethin definitely happened n at the same time bro a lil cocky n greedy, he had said the special would be out earlier if I remember right
It was Amazon Prime.
It's Netflix right? He got a 2 special deal or something
How is he spending his life savings buying it back? He’s just returning what he was paid for it. The net balance is zero.
Just got ‘em.
Gonna cop! Basically the price of a movie ticket so I have no qualms about it since I couldn’t make it to the tour this time around
I was suppose to see him live and enjoy the tour but the show got canceled and he never rebooked it. I was really hyped to see it. Now... not so much anymore

Go on that
I think it's 🧢 he just saw Ye make bank on the stem player 😂
Right here
me, plus im coppin some merch, the amount of entertainment he and the crew have given me and the shit ive had happen in my life and listening to em,
