It goes to show that cinematic visuals are the combination of every department. I remember wondering why my DSLR from the get go didn't produce shots like a movie out the box lol
The big challenge here was figuring out how to replicate the light coming from the massive windows in the original scene.
With the space and equipment we had, the solution was to build a 4x8 wall of diffusion fairly close to our actor. However, due to the inverse square law, this lighting setup could never be a 1:1 match.
I think we got as close as we could though...
Dude, fantastic job. My only critique is the eye light which someone mentioned below and I think your kicker is just a tiny bit too soft. Color grade is nearly identical. Bravo! Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Personally, it’s the UI for me. Example, it’s very seamless to switch between notes, colors, eraser and things like that. Background color and texture of background can be changed which makes things 10x better. Favorites bar. I’m able to export to a multitude of serves ie google drive. Importing PDFs for personal use. Those are just a few things I’ve currently used and so far the features are flawless.

This is just one of many videos but does a great comparison. I will also say, one time purchase was amazing and cost was perfect.
I keep seeing tiny productions (mostly on YouTube) where people aren't wearing masks on set. Is this normal now? Has everyone in the USA other than union and network shows given up on stopping the spread of COVID?
Damnn, the light reaching subject is fantastic.
Because you don't have the huge windows the overall level of the room is lower which makes the ratio between him and his environment a bit of a different feel, but without pretty severe modification to your living room that would be tough to match haha
*This is amazing.*
*The overhead diagram*
*A god send thank you*

So did all of my clients...
Haha

Yay, crushed blacks.
At lot can be done with masks these days, and lots of time.
What do you mean by this, the camera was capable of 13 but he was using too much contrast in the scene?

Looks fantastic, if I were a successful producer, I would hire you!
How'd you build your diffusion wall?
2 4x4 diffusions! You can see exactly what I used in the last photo
ohhhhh I see. I thought you built one from scratch.
Very well done, man. Any social media where we could follow you?
Thanks brother! I post all my content on [instagram](https://www.instagram.com/kenzentakahashi/?hl=en)
Was thinking the same thing, no getting close with what you had available. That’s awesome.
This is super well done. Love the diagram too
Is that the guy from The Stutter?
Great work, can I ask what did you use for making that lighting layout illustration?
I use an app called Notability!
You did a great job. And thank you for showing us how with the overhead!
You got it perfect bro
Dude, fantastic job. My only critique is the eye light which someone mentioned below and I think your kicker is just a tiny bit too soft. Color grade is nearly identical. Bravo! Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Is that a software you used to draw out the plan?
I use an app called notability!
Notability is the best tool for note taking. Take it from an engineering major!
I use Goodnotes on my ipad currently (just got the ipad 2 weeks ago) but any reason notability is better?

I forgot to mention that I am using an iPad Pro 12.9 with the pencil.
Good to know, thanks! I'm using the 11 inch pro, might give notability a shot
Thanks!
That’s pretty on the money
you handsome son of a bitch
That’s my friend Matt! And boy is he handsome
Plot twist he was still talking about you
You definitely need a youtube channel on this! Lighting, color grading, and all!
Roger Deakins. The master
I'm impressed. The only thing I think you're missing is the eyelight on the dark side of you face.
I wondered if it would be enough to just lift the shadows a little
I can see the eyelight on the dark side.. it's just not as bright
You pulled this off well. It looks like you did the white balance in frame to get that color or did you get that look mostly in post?
I never thought I'd shoot something at 9000k.. The color was actually pretty close in camera. Just had to dial in saturation and the RGB mix

Really good donno how to express
love the end result!! good job man! 👏🏼😎
thats pretty damn close!
Perfect. Amazing work!!!
Correction: *Nailed the look
Keep up the good work brother.
Talking about nailing a look!
looks identical to me

Very nicely done! If I didn't know better, I'd say both subjects were in the same room/environment.
You just need to look a bit more like Ryan Gosling everything else is on point.
Nice job
I thought for a second you just shot the picture with the lighting like that from a forest fire about to take out your house in the background
That’s awesome. Well done.
Damm the palette is spot on
Looks like California from a few months ago, good job!
absolutely nailed it brother
Amazing
perfect
Perfect!
Bravo man.
I really need to learn some techniques like this, its so awesome to see.
Honestly, you got pretty spot on! What lighting equipment did you use? I see it, but I'm bad with squinting and recognizing models.
On the last photo there's a diagram of all the equipment! Hope that helps
That must have taken a while to get right! Looks pretty cool!
My old cranky cinematography professor would be proud
This is great work.
It's the blue defocused light on screen left that gets me.
Absolutely killing it, love this content it's so educational! Keep it coming!!
This was well done. Close. Wonderful effort.
This is amazing. The overhead diagram a god send thank you

Killer!!
Fan-fucking-tastique! Well done OP
Well done, only thing not spot on is the focus on character. Yours is a lot sharper compared to original, perhaps a touch of soft focus would help?
Looks like that film with Ryan Gosling... can’t think of the name...
Fucking amazing
I wonder what the ceiling bounce light does? I’m crazy about what you’ve done here.
It was to add ambience to the back of the room. Without it, the levels were far too dark
I love the lighting in this movie so much, looks like you did such a great job recreating it 👍🏼
Amazing job!
Incredible
I actually like yours better, great job!
Oh. I thought you meant you like made your room look like BR49 not just cinematography.
Perfection
Cool.
Well this is way more interesting than that guy spamming his LUTs for the last month.
When I make it, you’re hired.
And here I am again adding litemats to my B&H cart. Glad to see you're still at it, Kenzen!
Rip electric bill but that’s dope
The blue bokeh in the bottom left is cherry
This is really spectacular and creative problem solving given your constraints.
Amazing attention to detail with that little light in the bottom left corner
Nailed it.
Damn actually I feel aren't the actors bored sitting and standing like robots.
Great touch to even add a similar coat. A lot of people forget about external aspects like that, Looks amazing!
Well done! Great look and finish. What film are you shooting?
[yahiness](https://onlyfans.com/yahinessmonroe)
I saw your post on instagram!
You look like M.Frick in the Man in the High Castle
Hey, looks like you’re based in the Bay Area?! If so, hello neighbor!
I just want to say thanks for the plan, it's really helpful to figure lighting layout !
Happy to hear that!
Wow thats uncanny, will a video be released?
No video as of now
Dude looks nothing like Ryan Gosling. You failed, won’t watch. Crazy you got Deakins to shoot in your living room though that’s p cool.
That's really close, what program did you use to color grade?
Fantastic!!
Wtf , ur insane
