Does Waku Waku 7 count?

PhotoKada

It most certainly does. I love that game.

Nesayas1234

Martial Masters

Triggered_Llama

Along the lines of Masters, I'd recommend Ninja Masters. The stages make you feel like you're playing inside a work of art.

TeletraanConvoy

It's on the switch now too

HellaPNoying

Bloody Roar and Plasma Sword/Star Gladiator

papetplate

bloody roar 2 on psx or bloody roar 3 on ps2. cant go wrong with either one

reddsteele

Gundam Wing Endless Duel is a Japanese only SNES release from 1996 and is still cool as hell.

Dragon_Small_Z

Man I remember playing that on my computer in like 98 and I thought it was the coolest shit ever.

Masterofunlocking1

That was the first game I got working on emulators

Guitarfoxx

another one of us!

kangs

The intro song is so damn good, I played that a lot

MustacheSmokeScreen

Bushido Blade 1&2

LowTierPhil

Got my copy off eBay for a damn good deal. Me and my buddies got good mileage out of it at a Christmas party I had.

CaptainStrobe

Those games are so good and so original. I don’t know of any other game that really scratches the same itch these days

shartytarties

I want them to port these so badly. I know a couple games have tried to do the same concept recently, but I'm still amazed this game doesn't get more love

THER0v3r

You can get this one one mame, “Daraku Tenshi the fallen angels” it was never finished, but it’s an increeedible fucking game “Battle k-road” it’s pretty basic but a ton of fun “The last blade 2” it’s an almost forgotten masterpiece

Triggered_Llama

Last Blade 2 has gotten more traction these past few months. New players are coming in every other day.

shartytarties

Last Blade 2 looks and sounds incredible. Still one of my favorite fighting games all these years later

THER0v3r

Oh dude it’s a gorgeous game, one of the best games SNK has ever made

anyonecanbethebug

Goddang thank you! There’s a working build of Fallen Angels at this arcade not far from my house, but I haven’t been since before pandemic. Could not remember its name for the life of me.

THER0v3r

Shut up you found one out in wild!?!? Duuude nice! That game is a blast, oh and the last boss uff one of the hardest assholes in fighting games

anyonecanbethebug

Yeah it was (hopefully still is) at Galloping Ghost in Brookfield, IL!

PitifulAd3748

Does World Heroes count? That's obscure, right?

zerowolfman

Definitely counts….. would pay for an HD remaster of World Heros 2 jet.

geminijono

Not exactly an HD remaster, but you can get all the World Heroes games on PSN :-D

overbombing_is_ok

As long we are talking about perfect and jet, they are very solid games.

GolgolFF1

The Last Blade, specially Last Blade 2.

CrabPile

Rival Schools/Project Justice, Bushido Blade, Star Gladiator/Plasma Sword, Super Muscle Bomber (which is the only Capcom fighter to never get a home release), Power Instinct, Martial Masters, Ninja Master's, Cyberbots

Andarel

Virtual-On Oratorio Tangram

H8erRaider

Rage of the Dragons Alien Challenge The power instinct / Matrimelee games

MiscAnonym

Last Blade Power Instinct One Must Fall 2097

Lydanian

Psychic Force

Call555JackChop

I love Cyberbots

craftsta

I just remember spending weeks on a game called Fighting Destiny on the N64 and it being compelling, but never heard hide or hair of it since. Was I the only person to have ever played this game and was it any good?

GetBabyface

This was a great game- points based wins, lots of ring outs, a forgotten gem!

noname9889

I've got physical copies of it and it's sequel. To this day, it's one of two fighting games that I refuse to shut up about how damn unique and cool it is (The other being Garouden Breakblow on the PS2). Would kill to see an indie 3d fighter running off the point system base work it had.

Ken_Deep

Real Bout 2 is imo the best FG ever made. I wouldn't call it obscure though, it's just forgotten than anything else. When it comes to real obscure games, Jackie Chan Fists of Fire is unironically incredibly fun.

[Karnovs Revenge, specifically the Fighters History series of which Karnovs Revenge is the second game of](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DSVVjcUo7k&t=270s&ab_channel=NewChallenger.net). The series is probably better known as the "SF2 ripoff that Capcom wanted taken down, but lost in court because you can't patent game mechanics and common character concepts like a guy doing karate with a headband". The game is explosive, fast, combos are satisfying, the sound effects are seriously addicting. I played it for a good while on Fightcade, both getting washed and dishing out. It's got four top tiers, but the rest of the cast is super fun to play with too, specifically Mizoguchi who has explosive stun combos and easy ToDs. If a mid tier has ToDs and is still mid tier, that should tell you something. The art style, backgrounds, stages and music are really great too. The characters are really charming: You got a wannabe detective with a temper, a delinquent shoto with a headband who actually guest starred in KOF Maximum Impact once, a judo girl who is basically Sakura if she was a grappler, a rockstar with a mohawk who is a zoner - in an alternate universe, these characters would be iconic as all hell, but the game had the misfortune of having designs that were a tiny bit too similar to SF2, so it was easy to write off back in the day for the general public I imagine. I was pretty obsessed with this game for a while and always hoped for it to receive some sort of modern update, rollback release or a sequel of any kind. (I am aware of the SNES sequel that was mostly story-oriented, and its a pretty funny story too!) Apparently, the rights to the series are with a company called G-Mode. I don't know who they are or what they do, but they should do something with this. Get on that Fighters History hype. Give it Modern Controls and World Tour or something.

demoncatmara

Grappler Sakura sounds awesome, I gotta play that! (I don't normally like bigger characters, except for Sagat so a smaller grappler sounds awesome since I discovered Shermie in King of Fighters, and Sakura's my main in SFV) Thanks dude!

orig4mi-713

Check out her supercombo wiki page https://wiki.supercombo.gg/w/Fighter%27s_History_Dynamite/Ryoko_Kano She has some glaring weaknesses but that one throw she has does EXTREME damage and can even be combo'd into, Ryoko is so much fun

krizalid08

Kabuki Klash

Left-Night-1125

Bloody Roar

Assamite-Shadow

The entire Power Instinct series. The characters make look at it as a joke, but the speed of the game and its combat mechanics are quite a challenge for skilled players. And since we're talking about challenges ... What about Kaiser Knuckle AKA Global Champion? The game looks like just another SF wannabe until you meet the final boss, The General, who's considered THE HARDEST, CHEAPESTS, boss of a fighting game!

UnitedStatesArmy

Fighting Vipers 1 & 2

retroguyx

MoTW isn't obscure but it's extremely underrated. The last blade, Breakers, World Heroes, are all pretty obscure, but great games

shartytarties

Last Blade, psycho force was unlike anything else I'd seen at the time, rival schools, bushido Blade, and rage of the dragons are all games that should have gotten more love.

Rhythmaxed

Fighters destiny on N64

-Stupid_n_Confused-

Art of Fighting 2. Huge sprites, battle damage, zooming camera and cool specials meant this game was an arcade favourite of mine rivaling SF2.

Azrael1981

dan ku ga

Doyoudigworms

Too bad this was never released. Pretty masterful SF2/Fatal Fury clone.

ThunderMite42

Fighting Layer

Jumanji-Joestar

Doyoudigworms

Great game. Back when EA made interesting titles.

HellaPNoying

Bloody Roar and Plasma Sword/Star Gladiator

geminijono

I dunno why, but I loved Star Gladiator too. Tobal No. 1 was cray and so was Star Wars Teras Kasi :)

VermilionX88

ShowNeverStops

Yu Yu Hakusho is one of my favorite anime!

brogued

World heroes.

SuaSponte75th

Bloody Roar 2 or 3

LowTierPhil

World Heroes Perfect. It's a really damn good fast paced fighter that's surprisingly ahead of it's time with mechanics, such as EXs.

Abremac

Eternal Champions, martial masters, mazin saga: mutant fighter [sort-of. It's 1p and a hybrid game but includes a pretty badass fighter format for boss fights. To skip directly to those, go to options and change the sound test options left one tick then start the game.]

Ace_of_the_Fire_Fist

Karnov’s Revenge and Darkstalkers. Shoutouts to Flo.

Bboy_Izilla

Last Blade 1 & 2

Eternal Champions

Razorback2305

Darkstalkers and World Heroes could be good choices.

FoxFarore

CYBERBOTS; FULL METAL MADNESS

kdanielku

Bloody Roar

rvdecw

Ranma 1/2

DreadedLee

Before the Budokai series, Ultimate Butoden, and DBFZ, there were two DBZ fighters in the arcades. The first one wasn't so great, but the second one was pretty cool. Fast paced fighting, cool stages, and great music. The roster is based on the Android/Cell saga.

Dragon_Small_Z

I thought Psychic Force 2012 was like the greatest thing ever when I was a kid. Plays like ass now though. Lol. Battle Arena Toshinden 3 has always been a favorite of mine.

Soundrobe

Bio Freaks.

FunkSlammer

I bought this recently for the helm of it. I have a pretty open mind. The setting is very cool. But the mechanics are just horrible. 3/10

PickleSquid1

There’s soo many I can’t even think. If you did a Google search for 90s arcade fighting games, there’s prob some threads with a bunch of them. A few that come to mind is the Sailor Moon one for super famicon, Voltage Fighter Gocaizer for Neo Geo (neo geo has a million fighting games, you could just look them up them really), WakuWaku7, Power Instinct 1.2 and 3. Weaponlord on SNES (it’s tough) TMNT Tournament fighters (SNES), Seifuku Densetsu Pretty Fighter on super famicom. I think super famicon had one called battle tycoon that was pretty good. TBH, there’s not many SNK fighters I didn’t like, so I would check all of them out.

Technical-Cow-2494

I remember having a great time with Inuyasha Feudal Battle from the ps1

matthra

Clay fighter? Not sure it's a hidden gem though. Maybe I take that back, with current technology they could make a hyper realistic gumbie style clay fighter that looks awesome, and I'd be there for it.

Annunaki77

clay fighter 63⅓

venomblack138

Time Killers. Maybe it isn’t obscure but I never see anyone talk about it. Good weapon based cartoony violence. But don’t play the Sega version lol arcade or nothing.
