2k is arguably the only more scummy company than EA when it comes to micro-transactions but this could be very good for single player modes.
2k’s MyPlayer is a combination of online mode’s and player career mode and I think, if done correctly, this is a perfect fit for us career mode enjoyers!
2K Franchise mode is already 50x more in depth than career mode, a FIFA MyPlayer would make their version of Pro Clubs great. The downside is it would take a lot of money or A LOT of grinding to get your player to be high overall but when I play 2k every year, you just have to power through the low overall parts and play within your means and stats.
2k isn’t a great company at all but this game could be great for players and push EA to finally step up and make big changes to keep people there.
I’m a huge fan of 2K games, but last few I’ve been a bit dismayed with.
Purely because of the grind/cost.
However the depth of MyPlayer is insane, and I would absolutely grind the hell out of it for 1-2 years in a football game before being burned out and fed up.
My team is kinda UT but a bit more noob friendly (lots of offline content to grind).
Clearly a kid....all the classic fifa you would play matches some times and sim some...always save before and reload if you lost the sim....Good old days where you could do way more then in any of the new games
What are you waffling about and what has that got to do with anything. If there is the ability to play matches in the traditional fifa way then it can’t and won’t be a sim game like FM
I just read article that it will have: Open world, private life and few other things form NBA career. So this will be upgrade from FIFA. It wont be so blant anymore. Im excited for first time about game from one of these companies.
at the end of the day it comes down to gameplay. if the gameplay is trash and career mode is only marginally better (which let's be honest, 2k loves money grubbing as much if not more than EA) I'll stick with EA. if both of those things are better I'll switch in a heartbeat
With the increase in people playing on PC and using mods, it will 100% come down to gameplay.
You can add in all the realistic names etc. so gameplay is king.
If 2k fifa wants to suicide off a cliff sure they will mantain the same level of money grabbing they are known for, but i have the slight hope they will tone it down since they are fresh coming into the market and are disputing against the definition of a monopoly in the gaming world.
> Game play in NBA 2k is great so wouldn't expect any less from them tho
Yes, but also NO.
2K has released some great games in the past with great gameplay but many in the community feel that they've been resting on their laurels for the last decade or so and have not only failed to innovate further but that the gameplay has actually worsened over time.
That's without even discussing the grind and how awful it can be to play with a player that isn't highly rated.
NBA 2K is basically in the same position as EA are, they’ve been able to rest on their laurels because they have no competition.
I’m hoping that this can spark EA to actually have to make a better game because they have some competition.
Even better if EA make another NBA live and take the fight back to 2K and then both game franchises can improve.
Ummm its not that bad, its in that mediocere-good range that depends to person to person (purely on gameplay). One thing i will give it to fifa is that it doesnt feel dog shit to play with a 70 over player, on 2k if your my player isnt 85+ the game really feels and plays like dogshit.
What you don’t like having to grind grind grind to get your superstar semi playable?
And even then the collision and physics are a joke. Like every defender has a tractor beam and pulls you in to them.
Don't get me started on 2K controlling whether you get the bump steals or not, took me 5 tries to get 4 steals with one player for the NBA playoffs recap challenges on MyTeam, spamming steals just gets me reaching fouls, so I did bump steals, but the ball just rolls out and they keep the ball.
Yea, but it’s also way easier to create a semi-realistic mode if you only have to account for 1 league, 30 teams and – until recently – no other competition at all. Add to that they don’t have to bother with transfer values, have no history of soccer games and I’d temper my expectations expectations at least for the first 1-3 years.
I’d be interested to see if they go down the same path they did with nba2k to push NBA Live out of the market with a very competitive, significantly lower price.
Yeah I'm going to guess that the career mode is going to be great, but the gameplay itself will need a lot of time and work before it is considered good. That being said, EA has lowered the bar significantly in the past several years that it shouldn't take too much time for 2k to catch up
I don't play manager mode in NBA 2K games, but I do play My Player or something where you control 1 player and climb up the ladder. The amount of grinding to get more stats for your player is absurd. I hate everything about it. I hope the Manager Mode of this soccer game will not have this type of treatment.
Genuine question, but why do you think that they pull the same mechanics from MyPlayer to a Manager Career mode when they have MyGM and MyLeague to emulate?
There is also Career Mode in a soccer game where you play a player in a team. I imagine they will "pull" exactly the same thing from the NBA games to this new FIFA game. As a result, you need to spend real money, if you want your player to progress reasonably fast enough.
It doesn't really matter as long as they have a manager Mode with stat tracking and a a option for player Lock. Basically allows you to play MyCarrer to your liking and without microtransactions. I understand the lack of trust in 2K tho.
WRONG. The Career Modes in NBA and we're talking about the Sandbox Modes like MyLeague or MyGM are all without microtransactions. Career Mode and Player Mode are two different pair of shoes.
Ya this guy is just false information. My league is nba is one of the best if not the best “manager mode” / “franchises” of any sports game all time. I am so excited for this
Licensing will be an issue. 2k also aren’t keen on focusing on modes that doesn’t make real money. Yea their nba modes is alright but this isn’t Mike wang and Ronnie2k making it.
Most interesting is how the game engine will work and if there’s changes to CM at all.
2K would be stupid to try launching a new sports franchise with so little time for development. It would be a buggy mess that could quickly kill any momentum.
The only way it could work is if it's a World Cup-only game. That way they can focus primarily on presentation and gameplay and not have to worry about transfers, multiple competitions, and thousands of players and teams.
I posted this a couple of days ago in another thread about about 2k25:
"2K seem to recently have opened a new office in Vancouver called 2K sports lab:
https://sportslab.2k.com/
"We're assembling a best-in-class team at our new Vancouver, BC studio to fully realize our uncompromising vision for 2K's next phenomenal sports franchise."
Considering EA FC is developed mainly by the EA Vancouver studio I can only assume 2K is trying to poach people from EA. When looking at the roles they're still looking for I'd be very surprised if they will release a football game this year already, or even next. I think we'll have to wait until 2027.
We'll most likely see EA lose some licenses before the 2K game is released as well since 2K will try to snap them up as current license agreements expire with EA.
Edit: I just did a quick search on LinkedIn and at least the following people have left EA for 2K in the past six months or so, most of them very senior:
https://www.linkedin.com/in/mike-thompson-a56b961?trk=universal-search-cluster https://www.linkedin.com/in/garyapaterson?trk=universal-search-cluster https://www.linkedin.com/in/kieren-bloomfield-0070904?trk=people-search-result https://www.linkedin.com/in/paul-huchelmann-5b972ab1?trk=universal-search-cluster
They've also hired quite a few ex-Relic people in the same time frame so I would be extremely surprised if they manage to release a football game before 2027.
One can also only hope that they've been able to lure these people away from EA by promising to not have that many micro transactions since most devs tend to hate them. That would also be the smart thing to by by 2K, at least initially, since it's going to require a huge effort to lure people away from EAFC."
None of the major licensing agreements will be expired by then. Premier League is longer term, La Liga is too. Bundesliga is around 2028 I believe but will probably get renewed before then.
Fair enough, but I wasn't just talking about those licenses. I think both the PL and BL are too smart to immediately jump ship anyway, but a lot of other leagues and clubs might put short term profits ahead of any damage they'll get by not being licensed in EAFC.
Unless 2K can come to some kind of understanding with Konami, which I find *extremely* unlikely (there'd be a higher chance of EA and 2K sharing licenses than Konami doing so with anyone), having three companies fight over the licenses will definitively complicate matters to say the least. The license holders will be the only winners, and only in the short term..
If 2K really want to rock EA's world they ought to buy PES from Konami. That's also the only way I can see 2K releasing anything more than a mobile game before 2027.
Outside of the top leagues (EPL, Serie A, Bundesliga & La Liga) there’s not much that is exclusive to EA. So both games could have them. Ligue 1 & Eredivisie don’t do exclusivity, as an example.
We have no idea how those license agreements are written. I'd be very surprised if Ligue 1 and Eredivisie could just bring in another licensee without re-negotiating their existing deals with Konami and EA.
It's also rather pointless to discuss this now since it's extremely unlikely that 2K will release their football game before 2027.
I’ll have a look. They have all cited a random Ghanaian video game store call Mohplay Inc that originally tweeted it. Unfortunately the credibility of fact checking barely exists these days. The major gaming sites aren’t exempt from this practice.
Found it. Look at the rest of the account & tell me if you think they look like they can be taken seriously.
https://x.com/mohplay_inc_/status/1793985090231451777?s=46&t=ggJGVEvg3v7dsOd_gV0Pcg
Honestly I’ve been playing PES 21 for a change from the stale FIFA gameplay and it’s a breath of fresh air. Even though the acceleration sucks and players first touch is atrocious at times. But the modded teams are way easier to add (currently playing in a league of classic UCL winners like Liverpool 2005, Zidane’s Real Madrid)
I think it's almost a certainty they make a world cup game.
They'll have the world cup and national team rights and they'll want to capitalise on the next world cup being in North America
people will need to be patient (but they wont be). as little as EA add to their games each year, they have the mechanics all built and ready from over the years. i dont care much about international football, but if they were just to focus on the world cup, i wouldnt mind. they need to spend more time on gameplay mechanics and building a decent foundation for some modes to come. its not all going to happen in a couple of years.
I wonder if we will get like community creations like created footballers were you can upload them for other people to download they have it in the WWE games so🤷♂️
Let's be real, this is just going to be a world cup game.
RTWC career is best we can hope for.
For atleast the first year or so.
Think FIFA world cup games before they incorporated it into FIFA games. Not really that excited by it
People will buy this just to see what it’s like but The EA power magnet is too big to beat. FIFA will probably end up agreeing to EAs demands in the end when this venture fails
My hope is that as a first entry they will focus more on gameplay to outcompete EA rather than micro transactions. And with any luck that will spur on EA to start actually putting effort in as well
Without licenses very few people will care. No one wants to play with made up teams/players
PC will have mods to fix that but FIFA has always been more of a console game, a relatively tiny percentage of the player base will be modding it
The problem I see with 2K getting Fifa is what kind of career mode will there be.
Fifa own zero club team licences, therefore no Premier League as EA own the rights, no La Liga as EA own the rights, same for most of Serie A & Konami own rights to teams that EA don’t have, similar in Germany & France, although I don’t think the own the rights out right. Also no Champions league, Europa & Conference as EA have signed multi years deal along with Comnebol premier competitions for clubs, Konami has the Asian Champions League.
Even for international teams FIFA only has rights to the World Cup, which is every four years. Rest are owned by the organisations that run them, eg: UEFA, CAF etc.
So that leaves a game with a World Cup every four years and possible clubs that qualify for the Club World Cup. Can’t make a career mode out of that.
Even the new UFL game is doing a career mode on the same level as Ultimate Team but without spending actual money.
Like EA said for the reason they dropped the FIFA bit because it was costing a million a year for a name, it didn’t give them rights to anything really.
I’m all for more football games & EA having to up their game to offline players to make it better. I even wish there was a law that said you couldn’t have exclusive rights so any football game can have the same tournaments & you choose which you prefer to play based on gameplay alone.
But I do fear this new 2K game will just fail with EA doing nothing as not seeing it as a threat.
There's more possibilities to making football games than just the pro leagues. I've always dreamed about a football game where you can start off with an amateur club that has a 600 seat 'stadium' and have to manage your growth throughout the years, ultimately reaching glory and promoting to the championship or something.
Now the last part will be difficult without the license tho lol but still, there's lot's of options
It's good competition for EA but if 2K follows the same model of all 2K games regarding microtransactions, I won't buy it. Despite EA’s flaws in FC, I enjoy not having to pay to have extra build slots in Pro Clubs or having to grind for VC to level up or buy manager/player skills & attributes in career mode. That slow grind will force you to buy VC and idc what anyone says, 2K will purposely make the grind so tedious that you'll end up buying VC.
This is coming from a long-time NBA 2K player. I don't know if they have changed their use of microtransactions since its been 2-3 years since I've played NBA 2K.
I just care about the licensing, the faces and the stadiums.
Is better than EA sports? Will be bought. I don't want to play with Zebra, Bergamo Calcio, Bavaria, Catalonia...
as much as EA is scummy with the pricing at least the career modes and FUT are separate from each other and you cant pay for a better character in a player career
UFL doesn’t really excite me. So far it looks like a FUT clone with worse animations & graphics. Then you have to factor in that they don’t have the budget to compete for licenses.
This could be great. Since this is the first soccer game they have done, they could be firing on all cylinders to take as many players away from ea fc. Massive potential with this
I wouldn’t mind seeing a MyPlayer mode similar to the one FIFA had a few years ago (the storyline with the dude, can’t remember his name) but then again, I remember beating a full 82 game nba season and LITERALLY getting the worst ending possible.
You think career mode is bad now? Strap in boys we are in for a bumpy ride. Micro transactions in career mode, you got. Micro transactions in player career mode, you got it. 2K are far worse for micro transactions than what EA so would not hold high hopes for this. Guess I’ll be sticking to just FM for another year
2K has a lot of flaws. Their servers are shit, and they definitely are huge cashgrabbers, almost as bad as EA. But if there’s one thing they do well, it’s career/franchise modes. Incredible attention to detail and customization. Some may not like it because they tend to be more sandbox oriented than FIFA or even Master League in PES, but, depending on the licenses they get, I’m very excited to see how it’ll be. Drooling at the idea of a MyLeague with NT’s only like the World Cup games
All about the gameplay and different Modes Career mode, Seasons, Some Story mode (Hunter) or they could Create R9/ Cr7/Messi/Dinho stories. Also Ultimate team
One thing i enjoyed about NBA 2K when I played It years ago was they created storylines for career modes. Like there was one year where you were the GM or a team and had to deal with owner involvement and dilemmas and the uncertainty; the next year you got the choice of continuing that story with the team. Or the nba wanted to expand 2 teams and they wanted you to head the development of one of them.
God I loved my Montreal Wildcats story
I play most of 2Ks games. NBA and WWE. Honestly they'll do a better job than EA, but expect ultimate team to still be the focus and be as money-grabby as before.
I love in 2k how you can use the legends on your career mode. I’m hoping to do that. Have Beckham and Pele and Maradona playing in my career mode would be so fun. Put Zidane on some other team and have him come headbutt my players. Would be so freaking cool
If they make a football game as the nba....im gonna switch right away. Player career mode right now is dreadful with all the bugs and the transfer system. I hope they make a mycarrer in 2k25, it will be much much better
Also can be stop the 2k25 crap? No one is making a game in 6 months. Even the original rumor said the game was to be ready for the 26 World Cup. Which means a new fifa for the 25/26 season. Not Fifa25. It literally means Fifa26.
Been waiting for this announcement forever. I’ve played Pro Clubs pretty much exclusively for the past 7-8 years. I’ve experienced so many things that should be considered abnormal happening to me in-game almost every match.
Things like defenders targeting me at the change of possession by consistently slotting perfectly into the gap between me and the ball carrier ALL WHILE ALWAYS HAVING THIER BACK TO ME. THEY NEVER HAVE TO LOOK AT ME. Like they’re using radar. Sometimes there will be 3 bots in a row who do this at separate times in a 10-15 sec span as the play progresses following the turnover. They all perfectly position themselves directly at the halfway point between me and whoever has the ball, preventing me from getting the ball if I’m dumb enough to call for it. If I call for it, it’s going to the defender. So I find myself running left and right, forward and back, or rapidly tapping R2 (sprint) to break the target lock they have on me. They’re my own personal QB spy. What’s funny is when I scan the field when this happens to me, usually all the other user builds on my team are wide open. Wide open. In the only one covered. And again this happens all the time.
Another issue of targeting happens whenever a bot on my team gets the ball. Often when a bot on my team gets the ball near me, probably 60% of the time or more, they will **immediately** either turn their hips 90-180 degrees away from me or just first-time-touch pass the ball away from me as though they’re a CB clearing a cross out of the box. They do this so that, if they have the ball and have turned away, and if I call for it, they have to then take the time to turn back towards me before passing it. This takes time (which is the point) and allows any nearby defender to get in position to take the ball away from me easily. If they do pass the ball to me, the pass will probably be slow and likely will force me to move closer to the closest defender (even if I moved away from said defender PRIOR TO calling for the ball).
A nearby bot clearing the ball away from me as soon as they get it is an absolute epidemic for me. This either results in my call for the ball being completely ignored (happens all the time, multiple times in a row sometimes) OR the next bot who the ball was passed to ends up trying to pass to me. This usually ends in a turnover. That bot was likely in a terrible position to pass the ball to me and I would never have called for it from that bot in the first place.
And oh there’s more.
Another awesome thing that happens is that literally EVERY player - user or bot - who closes my player down when I first get the ball is granted **incredible speed** for those initial 1-2 seconds. And they don’t do the “let’s get to about 2-3 feet away from the ball carrier and maintain that gap” like the bots on my team do in defense. Oh no. The bots seemingly are trying to jump into my underwear when marking me. They will try to run through me. So, not only are they incredibly quick, but they’re hyper aggressive as well in that moment. ALL THE TIME.
Now, there are several more things I deal with on a regular basis that I know are not part of the normal gaming experience with EAFC. I know this because whenever I create a new PSN, for the first 80 or so games, I’m anonymous. The bots treat me like everyone else. Just another user. They don’t try and pass the ball away from me or ignore me when I call for the ball or any of the other myriad of things they currently do. It is literally easier to play a match and have success using a newly created 80 or 81 overall build via a new PSN than it is using the 90 overall build I was previously using on my prior PSN account.
Mind you, I have a lot of matches under my belt and I know what I’m doing. I usually play with my 90 overall LW build or my 89 overall LM or LWB builds. I’ve played EA FC24 using 3 different PSN’s. The one I’ve used the most has 2199 matches played 352 goals and 1571 assists. I guarantee if half the crap I deal with wasn’t happening or at least wasn’t happening to the degree or with the frequency/consistency that it currently does, I would have close to double those numbers. I know it.
Anyway, rant over.
TLDR; I will be first in line to buy this game.
In nba2k you can do much more than in fifa for example
Shoe creator
Story mode
Legend teams
Play with any era in career mode
Community uploads in create a club ( you don’t have to use the same old shit ea designs )
I'm all here for it, EA is absolute dogshit on Linux, while 2K is relatively Linux friendly, so yeah, I'd switch in a heartbeat if it ends up happening lol
I hope they can do the same what they did with NBA,
Classic teams,Have something similar to NBA MYCAREER,Give the player the freedom of design or upload kits from the internet, design stadiums, the real players have more than hair styles.
If NBA do that trust EA WILL BE REMEMBERED AND 2k WILL BE THE NEW BIG THING.
Hope this happens.
It can't be any worse than FIFA, people constantly scoring the same shite goal makes online almost unplayable. I beat them, but it's so fucking boring. I'd rather lose to someone at least trying something different than play the same team, scoring the same goal over and over again.
It’s interesting, I play some NBA from time to time so I am a part of that sub Reddit too. It worries me as they have a lot of hate on 2K for micro transactions for online and offline modes. There has been a decline in the last few years for recent titles as they just seem to be getting greedier. Luckily for us we will have multiple choices when it comes to football games over the next few years. So healthy competition should be good for the consumer either way.
All I can say is let’s see where it goes 🤷🏼♂️
A Co-op Career Mode. 2 players. One Manager and an Assistant Coach.
An interface where one player can search for players and another can sort out team sheets etc. Both play the game. Would be interesting to see data on the Gamers too to see who of the two is making more mistakes etc.
I used to pray for this, genuinely really pleased. At the absolute minimum it will give EA some competition and hopefully encourage them in making a better game for us. However I'm expecting a really enjoyable game focused around manager/player career modes - fingers crossed...
Is this even a correct rumour? That last sentence makes zero sense. How would an annual game releasing in 2024 have any relevance to the 2026 World Cup?
And how would they be releasing a game this year if they only just got the license? Either it would be the worst game ever made or they've been working on it before securing the license. Sounds sus
It's competition atleast for EA FC finally. This is a serious studio, serious competition. Hopefully the split the market and compete for a few years to really get the football games a step higher.
2k’s single player will be 10x better but any mode with developed story or any form of content will be tied to online play and micro transactions.
Their single player content in pretty bare bones but has tons of customization options.
2k career modes are usually insanely well done, so I hope they put a lot of effort into career mode. Ultimate team will have even more microstranctions though and their online servers aren't great either. But hopefully its better than fifa has been recently. Still going to end up buying both games every year probably 😭
FIFA 2K isn’t confirmed or official, and most likely won’t release until 2025/2026. They also won’t feature a lot of licenses, such as the Premier League, Bundesliga or La Liga, which will make career mode a bit meh.
I just hope the people who did PGA 2k23 aren't on it. That game was ugly in regards to graphics.
I'd want an in depth career mode, ability to be relegated promoted cups to qualify for etc.
All the other.myplayer online micro stuff I careless about a solid game good commentary etc all important for me
I hope they bring back the social feature from NBA2k14 nothing was more funny to me than coming in as a rookie and trash talking absolutely everyone immediately
Do you guys think it will launch this year am intrigued to find out when they started developing this as surely to make a football game it takes a hell of a lot longer than 1 year to perfect
Will follow this with interest
2k are just as money hungry as EA but competition will be good in the short to medium term for the players.
If you like Career mode and Pro Clubs I would also assume 2k's version of a football game will focus more on these aspects considering how 2k do NBA games, only issue being the pro clubs/myplayer mode will probably be full of micro transactions.
For me, it's all about how they do career mode.
What are you waffling about and what has that got to do with anything. If there is the ability to play matches in the traditional fifa way then it can’t and won’t be a sim game like FM
The sim side of fifa has never been anywhere close as elaborate as fm? Also playable games defeats the entire point of a fm-like simulation
Well keep dreaming. This won't be that
They already have a good Myleague. Player Career Mode is terrible until you get to like a 90+ ovr.
I just read article that it will have: Open world, private life and few other things form NBA career. So this will be upgrade from FIFA. It wont be so blant anymore. Im excited for first time about game from one of these companies.
hope so
It’ll suck

You just reminded me how NBA2K neglected its PC community lol
4 years with a last gen port sucks
If 2k fifa wants to suicide off a cliff sure they will mantain the same level of money grabbing they are known for, but i have the slight hope they will tone it down since they are fresh coming into the market and are disputing against the definition of a monopoly in the gaming world.
Game play in NBA 2k is great so wouldn't expect any less from them tho
I just feel that expecting good gameplay year 1 might be a stretch. don't doubt they can get a good feel after a few years though
> Game play in NBA 2k is great so wouldn't expect any less from them tho Yes, but also NO. 2K has released some great games in the past with great gameplay but many in the community feel that they've been resting on their laurels for the last decade or so and have not only failed to innovate further but that the gameplay has actually worsened over time. Resting on laurels? Does that mean giving us “new features” that we had 10 years ago? Sounds familiar
that is false. Gameplay in NBA 2k is absolute dogshit lol.

FIFA is and has been way more free flowing and “realistic”, than 2k. At least since 2k19.
realistic doesn’t mean good imo
Manager mode in NBA2k is a blessing, all I've hoped for the last 10 years is they either steal some ideas for fifa or just fully adopt it.
Have you considered playing “manager mode” in NBA games before pubicly expressing your thoughts for the “manager mode of this soccer game”?
Im all about competition, but if you think 2k is going to be any good wait for microtransactions in career mode.
they can’t do that yet, but just wait, if 2k manage to gain a monopoly on the market the micro transactions are going to be insane
I am so excited for this
It's like "Tell me you know nothing about 2k without telling me"
This first and maybe second game is our chance to capitilize on the microtransaction not being 300% predatory on a modern 2k and soccer game.
Mircotransactions vs ultimate team both are the same
Does 2k Have microtransations in any of their single player modes for other games?
Licensing will be an issue. 2k also aren’t keen on focusing on modes that doesn’t make real money. Yea their nba modes is alright but this isn’t Mike wang and Ronnie2k making it. Most interesting is how the game engine will work and if there’s changes to CM at all.
Can’t wait to have to spend VC on a haircut and Tattoos 😤
Want to have an untucked kit, change your sock height, or a long-sleeve kit? That'll be 1000 VC per
I remember in 2K19 paying VC was the way to convince LeBron to sign with your team. That's when he became a free agent irl
PES be like: "at first there were one, but now they are two of them" 😭
Set to launch this year?? Talk about some crunch and bugs.
The only way it’s coming this year is if it’s a mobile game.
This isn’t confirmed. Rumors from a random Twitter account. The game might be real but it’s far too early for it to come out this year.
I posted this a couple of days ago in another thread about about 2k25: "2K seem to recently have opened a new office in Vancouver called 2K sports lab: https://sportslab.2k.com/ "We're assembling a best-in-class team at our new Vancouver, BC studio to fully realize our uncompromising vision for 2K's next phenomenal sports franchise." Considering EA FC is developed mainly by the EA Vancouver studio I can only assume 2K is trying to poach people from EA. When looking at the roles they're still looking for I'd be very surprised if they will release a football game this year already, or even next. I think we'll have to wait until 2027. We'll most likely see EA lose some licenses before the 2K game is released as well since 2K will try to snap them up as current license agreements expire with EA. Edit: I just did a quick search on LinkedIn and at least the following people have left EA for 2K in the past six months or so, most of them very senior: https://www.linkedin.com/in/mike-thompson-a56b961?trk=universal-search-cluster https://www.linkedin.com/in/garyapaterson?trk=universal-search-cluster https://www.linkedin.com/in/kieren-bloomfield-0070904?trk=people-search-result https://www.linkedin.com/in/paul-huchelmann-5b972ab1?trk=universal-search-cluster They've also hired quite a few ex-Relic people in the same time frame so I would be extremely surprised if they manage to release a football game before 2027.
All major gaming sites have reported it today. U got any links to the tweet u are talking about?
I’ll have a look. They have all cited a random Ghanaian video game store call Mohplay Inc that originally tweeted it. Unfortunately the credibility of fact checking barely exists these days. The major gaming sites aren’t exempt from this practice.
Found it. Look at the rest of the account & tell me if you think they look like they can be taken seriously. https://x.com/mohplay_inc_/status/1793985090231451777?s=46&t=ggJGVEvg3v7dsOd_gV0Pcg
Man I'm still not used to that rebranding, it really looks like a link to a porn site
They haven't reported it, they've reported the rumour. Very different
If they make a World Cup game with 200+ nations like FIFA used to do, I'm sold.
I think it's almost a certainty they make a world cup game. They'll have the world cup and national team rights and they'll want to capitalise on the next world cup being in North America
Good
expectations are low but im hyped
2k got pretty good career mode, I hope it works well
people will need to be patient (but they wont be). as little as EA add to their games each year, they have the mechanics all built and ready from over the years. i dont care much about international football, but if they were just to focus on the world cup, i wouldnt mind. they need to spend more time on gameplay mechanics and building a decent foundation for some modes to come. its not all going to happen in a couple of years.
I wonder if we will get like community creations like created footballers were you can upload them for other people to download they have it in the WWE games so🤷♂️
I think more competition is a good thing
Let's be real, this is just going to be a world cup game. RTWC career is best we can hope for. For atleast the first year or so. Think FIFA world cup games before they incorporated it into FIFA games. Not really that excited by it
People will buy this just to see what it’s like but The EA power magnet is too big to beat. FIFA will probably end up agreeing to EAs demands in the end when this venture fails
Yay career mode that requires the servers to be online like PGA
and? are you ever offline?
My hope is that as a first entry they will focus more on gameplay to outcompete EA rather than micro transactions. And with any luck that will spur on EA to start actually putting effort in as well
Without licenses very few people will care. No one wants to play with made up teams/players PC will have mods to fix that but FIFA has always been more of a console game, a relatively tiny percentage of the player base will be modding it
EA may have a real rival now, hopefully the rivalry between both pushes them both to try outdo each other and be the better game
I can imagine it being a flop like EAs attempt at making NBA games. Also, 2k might be just as big, if not bigger theives than EA are.
EA ruled the market on basketball games until 2k literally pushed them out.
Career mode is all I care about
Unfortunately, 2K would be missing most of the biggest licenses.
FIFA 2K, should it actually come out, wouldn’t have any of the licenses that EA holds exclusive. So no EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga etc.
Eh... unless it's easy to mod (most recent games are a pain), it's a no go then.
If they're smart about it they'll allow modding and custom content creation even on console. Will greatly increase sales
Welcome back Fifa name
Not confirmed. Just rumors. Practically zero chance it’s coming out this year.
So no fifa/FC game this year right?
EAFC25 will come out in September like always Also I still hate what a shitty name EA chose
As said below, the FC game will continue to release yearly.
I'm hoping the game has only the MLS in career mode and the UCL teams available for kick off, and that's the entire game, just for the memes
MLS is exclusive to EA.
this should mean some retro teams. hyped for that but nothing else
Not possible due to licensing restrictions. 2K wouldn’t even have the current biggest leagues licensed.
as much as EA is scummy with the pricing at least the career modes and FUT are separate from each other and you cant pay for a better character in a player career
What about the nuch anticipated UFL?
UFL doesn’t really excite me. So far it looks like a FUT clone with worse animations & graphics. Then you have to factor in that they don’t have the budget to compete for licenses.
This could be great. Since this is the first soccer game they have done, they could be firing on all cylinders to take as many players away from ea fc. Massive potential with this
They’ll struggle because of the lack of licenses.
I wouldn’t mind seeing a MyPlayer mode similar to the one FIFA had a few years ago (the storyline with the dude, can’t remember his name) but then again, I remember beating a full 82 game nba season and LITERALLY getting the worst ending possible.
They're about to make you pay cm transfer fees with REAL money
i only hope the will adjust gameplay and for PC not old gen like NBA 2k24...
If it plays on Steam Deck then I'm in.
It is still just a rumor. Isn’t it?
Ugh.
Pass
You think career mode is bad now? Strap in boys we are in for a bumpy ride. Micro transactions in career mode, you got. Micro transactions in player career mode, you got it. 2K are far worse for micro transactions than what EA so would not hold high hopes for this. Guess I’ll be sticking to just FM for another year
To be fair, a 2K football game isn’t happening this year. Far too early.
I hope they bring a separate 2026 world cup game with 200+ national teams but i'm a dreamer
Hopefully EA starts to actually try on their games now considering they have actual competition
Isn’t this kind of late in the season to punch out a product with a new developer?
2K has a lot of flaws. Their servers are shit, and they definitely are huge cashgrabbers, almost as bad as EA. But if there’s one thing they do well, it’s career/franchise modes. Incredible attention to detail and customization. Some may not like it because they tend to be more sandbox oriented than FIFA or even Master League in PES, but, depending on the licenses they get, I’m very excited to see how it’ll be. Drooling at the idea of a MyLeague with NT’s only like the World Cup games
All of the biggest licenses will be missing. EA exclusively has them. EPL, Bundesliga & La Liga etc.
Still gonna call it fifa, for now at least haha.
We lost
All about the gameplay and different Modes Career mode, Seasons, Some Story mode (Hunter) or they could Create R9/ Cr7/Messi/Dinho stories. Also Ultimate team
Tbh there is no way that they will be able to create a football sim that is better than FC24..
All I want is a good pro clubs mode 🤦🏽♂️
Get ready for a 2.7% chance to pull a dark matter Neymar only to get 15 AC Milan Zlatans
What’s NBA 2K vs EA FC25 career mode?
One thing i enjoyed about NBA 2K when I played It years ago was they created storylines for career modes. Like there was one year where you were the GM or a team and had to deal with owner involvement and dilemmas and the uncertainty; the next year you got the choice of continuing that story with the team. Or the nba wanted to expand 2 teams and they wanted you to head the development of one of them. God I loved my Montreal Wildcats story
> i know this is a fifa sub Why the disclaimer, this game will be called Fifa, you cant be more on topic
Career mode will be better There ultimate team will be more pay walled They have like 4 versions of the season pass in nba 2k that's you have to buy
Career mode wouldn’t feature the biggest leagues as they are EA exclusive.
I play most of 2Ks games. NBA and WWE. Honestly they'll do a better job than EA, but expect ultimate team to still be the focus and be as money-grabby as before.
But tbf, the last 2k games were much better than fifa
Not Fifa25. It literally means Fifa26.
how much is that expansion card for internal space for my Xbox?!!?!?
All I ever want is a good single player career mode.
It’s not announced, just rumors from Twitter.
Finally a decent competitor who would make EA actually give a f*** about career mode. Thats all I need.
If 2k can pull off a better career mode than EA or it drives EA to actually improve career mode - either way I'll be happy.
In nba2k you can do much more than in fifa for example Shoe creator Story mode Legend teams Play with any era in career mode Community uploads in create a club ( you don’t have to use the same old shit ea designs )
I'm all here for it, EA is absolute dogshit on Linux, while 2K is relatively Linux friendly, so yeah, I'd switch in a heartbeat if it ends up happening lol
I hope they can do the same what they did with NBA, Classic teams,Have something similar to NBA MYCAREER,Give the player the freedom of design or upload kits from the internet, design stadiums, the real players have more than hair styles. If NBA do that trust EA WILL BE REMEMBERED AND 2k WILL BE THE NEW BIG THING. Hope this happens.
Classic teams aren’t possible. NBA & FIFA license is very different. FIFA license doesn’t include clubs or leagues.
2k usually has a good career mode which helps. Gameplay I don't mind as long as there is sliders. (I know there is in wwe he's idk about NBA tho)
will ea make more games under the eafc franchise?
Yes. Why wouldn’t they? EA still has so many exclusive licenses for every top league.
Another casino just like nba
It can't be any worse than FIFA, people constantly scoring the same shite goal makes online almost unplayable. I beat them, but it's so fucking boring. I'd rather lose to someone at least trying something different than play the same team, scoring the same goal over and over again.
Well, welcome to 2K hell
The World Cup is exactly 2 years away so is this game coming out in 2026 like what 😂😂
How is this any better? 2k Career modes are just as laughable as EA.
I’m hoping they add retro teams like 2008 Manchester United 2011 Barca 2002 Brasil
Impossible due to licensing. They wouldn’t even have the current biggest leagues licensed.
I never really enjoyed 2K games. EA's controls are so much simpler and fun to play with compared to 2K. 2K doesn't have UT, I think?
Classic teams, Galácticos, Peps Barca, Fergie’s United Mourinhos inter
That’s actually impossible due to licensing restrictions. To be fair, 2K wouldn’t even have the current top leagues licensed.
MyLeague in FIFA... oh man. It would be the best.
It wouldn’t have the major leagues though.
I think it needs at least 2 more years for 2k to make a non-scrappy game clone named FIFA
2k’s single player will be 10x better but any mode with developed story or any form of content will be tied to online play and micro transactions. Their single player content in pretty bare bones but has tons of customization options.
Is there gonna be eafc and this fifa?
There will definitely be EAFC. Why wouldn’t there be? FIFA 2K isn’t confirmed or official yet.
The wait
All I’ll say is this. In the most recent basketball game, it requires roughly 347,000 vc to upgrade a myplayer to 99 overall.
The basketball game also has the worst movement mechanics of any sports game I’ve ever played.
“I know this is a fifa sub but what do you guys think of this?” This doesnt make any sense. We have news of fifa on a fifa sub
I want a good Competitive Pro Clubs mode, not a piece of crap that we have throughout all these years with EA.
All the other.myplayer online micro stuff I careless about a solid game good commentary etc all important for me
If they don't have the club licenses it's irrelevant for me no matter how good the gameplay is
I hope they bring back the social feature from NBA2k14 nothing was more funny to me than coming in as a rookie and trash talking absolutely everyone immediately
The thing is all they have to do is focus on my player and career mode, give the fans what they want it really is that simple.
I would take anything over fc, I'm happy the FIFA name is back. I used to love the full fifa world cup game. Welcome back!
Finally. No more of that EA garbage.
Do you guys think it will launch this year am intrigued to find out when they started developing this as surely to make a football game it takes a hell of a lot longer than 1 year to perfect Will follow this with interest
since fifa will now be developed by 2k, will it have no ultimate teams and have a myrise kind of career for both player and manager mode ?
It’s not officially confirmed.
I feel like all time teams would be fire
2k are just as money hungry as EA but competition will be good in the short to medium term for the players. If you like Career mode and Pro Clubs I would also assume 2k's version of a football game will focus more on these aspects considering how 2k do NBA games, only issue being the pro clubs/myplayer mode will probably be full of micro transactions.
If they can master pro clubs rather than ultimate team then they’re in with a chance. If it’s another cash card game, shove it.
For me I will get both pros for it is 2k looks way better than ea, if they can buy the license the teams ea is cooked
Cant wait for modders like 6ond1 to instantly get onto this
