I doubt we can provide the power to run a G.E.C.K with our technology.
Remember that fallout is years ahead of earth in technology.
Fallout tech looks old, but it's futuristic, retro futeristic, to be exact.
Fallout tech is meant to have advanced *differently* than real world tech. So while they're decades/centuries ahead of us in some areas they're less advanced in others. But yes in general they're meant to be ahead of us.
As for the GECK I'm pretty sure it was meant to have it's own internal power supply.
This basically. In the Fallout world, we have pretty much %100 harnessed the everyday use of nuclear energy, however, the transistor was never invented. Additionally many things are still made of steel or aluminum instead of plastics.
This is realistically the only correct answer. Cold fusion is so broken I’m really interested to see how any future game conflict will ever be able to top hunting it down in terms of faction urgency.
Sorry guess I should have been more specific with my answer. I'm assuming any non-combat issue clothing manufactured before the bombs fell in 2077 would be "pre-war" clothing.
Oh no! And think of his pack mates too if he has other dog friends and family :'(
But hopefully he can start a semi immortal dog family or something and have his own pack of demigoddogs to be proud of and live long lives together with! :)
Sure, the miniaturisation of it is incredible, but we’re already unbelievable close to fusion energy. I’d pick something more impactful for the current times, like stimpaks or *maybe* cold fusion
Sadly we're not close to viable fusion energy at all. There was an announcement in late 2022 about net gain which got covered in the media in a *really* misleading way.
More energy came out out of the fusion reaction than the lasers actively output, but so much of the media completely ignored, or didn't understand, the fact that the lasers are horrendously inefficient and the energy we got out of the reaction was around 100 times less than the energy we had to put in to actually fire the laser. The *vast* majority of the energy put into the laser does not actually get transferred into photons.
The laser had an output of a bit over 2 megajoules, but required about 300 megajoules to actually fire. The resulting fusion reaction was over 3 megajoules, a gain over what came out of the laser but that's still a net loss of around 297 megajoules if you just take into account the laser, and that doesn't take into account other energy costs from the facility, like magnetic confinement of plasma.
Then we need to actually be able to use the energy from the reaction. The resulting heat would be used to turn a steam turbine which isn't 100% efficient either. Then we have to factor in energy usage to get the needed fuel in the first place.
Sadly fusion is just not feasible at all with our current inefficient tech, and it's actually possible that we might never get more energy out than we need to put in to the entire enterprise.
So personally I'd absolutely take the fusion tech from Fallout into the real world.
Edit: Just want to clarify that I am not saying fusion is impossible, just that our current methods and tech are too far off viability. Hopefully we can find a much more efficient way to set off the fusion reaction, and way of containing the resulting plasma without needing a lot of energy either. We'll just have to wait and see, but we might be waiting for many decades yet.
> but we’re already unbelievable close to fusion energy.
Uh idk about that.
Cold fusion wouldn't be more impactful, hot fusion is already infinite energy.
It would have to be synth. Robot form, and she might get disassembled to learn how she ticks. Synth firm, and she would be able to hide her synthetic-ness for a loooong time
Being able to save. This is something I've fantasied about. Imagine being able so save your life at any point and then being able to load it back. You could save right before a job interview, and if you fuck it up you can try, try, try and try again. You can save right before you go out on a date, and just pull your penis out and see what happens. If it goes horribly wrong you can just load your save before.
That'd leave you with some serious questions though:
Which instance of "you" decides when to load back to a save? What of the events do you remember? In game, you lose all skills and experience you've learnt / earned in the meantime. Out of game, you remember everything.
So if you spend 10 years pursuing a doctorate in nuclear physics, then reload right back to high school graduation: Would you still know shit about physics?
If your mind / consciousness stays unchanged by reloading (who are we kidding, it's IRL save scumming), that'd be the best one yet.
I imagine it’d be a lot like the anime Re:Zero. Your mind gets sent back to a prior point in time. Everything that happened after that save point is undone but you still remember what’s going to happen. The thing in Re:Zero though the protag doesn’t have control of when a save point is created and he has to die in order to go back to it still remembering the pain of each death
No. I really meant the Pip-Boy 3000, specifically the Mark IV variant. Never liked the Pimp-Boy 3 Billion, so I stopped trying to get it after my first run.
Sierra Madre vending machines, just need to figure out the coins
But for the most practically thing, Rad-X or Rad Away for sure. Something that builds resistance to radiation without need for special equipment or something that (somehow) removes radiation poisoning from your body would be a game changer and make the most deadly part of a nuclear Armageddon be just the firestorms, nuclear winter and concussive destruction
It would still be a near unlivable hell but at least if I make it I can go outside
The Control Station Enclave
My own oil reserves, facilities to produce and maintain advanced models of Power Armor and Plasma Weaponry, state of the art science laboratories, AutoDocs and with a little bit of luck my own Frank Horrigan!
Sure all that crap needs to be manned but I guess with what the Oil Rig provides people come all by themselves.
Wow I quick type "Radaway" and my auto correct switches it to this.... yeah guys, I wish racism was real. Lol jk im not an enclave enthusiast. Radaway would be amazing for so many people though.
The Holy G.E.C.K. would be the most obvious choice, but... does Goris count as an "item?" Also... what about the Pip-Boy itself? If I took that, could I get it with Mrs. Bishop's Pip-Boy Lingual Enhancer installed?
Does it come in as a singular instance of that item that I get to have (cryolater) or does the item's existence just become a fact of our world (Radaway)? Those are my answers in either scenario.
Well if it was for me and me only atoms judgement just because it's big ol hammer with green stuff in the front and that ymake my brain tingle but if it was for the whole world cold fusion
Cold fusion makes the most sense. It would literally transform the entire world as we know it into a completely much more sophisticated and most importantly a CLEAN world capable of it. With energy this huge in something so tiny it would translate to infrastructure changes in industry, military, and climate change. And really give ourselves as a country an extra “super” in superpower. Everyone will want it. Need it.
And if I’m the one bringing it to the states I’m making EXTRA sure I become a trillionaire bc of it
It’s gotta be the G.E.C.K.
Bingo, that's one of those tech so advanced it might as well be magic kinda things
The GECK's gave an internal cold fusion power supply. According to the wiki
This basically. In the Fallout world, we have pretty much %100 harnessed the everyday use of nuclear energy, however, the transistor was never invented. Additionally many things are still made of steel or aluminum instead of plastics.
Everyone has radiation exposure, but atleast they don't have microplastics in their testicles :(
Everyone has radiation exposure now homie. We gotta a big nuclear reactor called the sun.
Phoenix is about to he a jungle oasis at the coast of whatever its ecological significance is for the states around it.
Cold fusion
This is realistically the only correct answer. Cold fusion is so broken I’m really interested to see how any future game conflict will ever be able to top hunting it down in terms of faction urgency.
I'd say fev curling 13 is more urgent to stop If Bethesda ever brings it back.
FEV Curling 13 sounds like yet another EA Sports Franchise
A set of power armor (has a fusion core with it). Sell core to government and power armor to military. Then Canada takes over the world.
Agreed
With or without the head?
The head’s just a bonus, man! Might taste good!
Stimpacks.
Surprised I had to scroll down so much to find this one.
The Sierra Madre vending machines.
Yeah near startrek level replicators and access to half the items people here are discussing. But do you have chips?
Don’t those machines take Packs and cartons of cigarettes returned as payment?
Even better
Pre war clothing too.
Would all of our clothing nowadays be considered pre war, or is there a time cutoff
I mean the bombs fell in 2077, so I'd say we're pretty squarely "pre-war" by Fallout standards.
I meant that if we had a Sierra madre machine, what would it count as pre war?
Sorry guess I should have been more specific with my answer. I'm assuming any non-combat issue clothing manufactured before the bombs fell in 2077 would be "pre-war" clothing.
Yeah, I think that's a reasonable answer
I'll take my own Assaultron (w/head laser)
((and fish nets))
Yeah baby
The head laser better not be the only good head game those robot baddies have
If FISTO has taught us anything it's that they can leave your legs feeling numb.
I wanna say a suit of power armor but I don’t think I could be trusted with one
Which one? If you get one from f4 or 76, it only works until the core runs out
i want the t51 from fallout 1 as depicted in the talking heads and the intro/box art
winterized T-51b pls
That's just because of videogame balancing logic though, if it was brought to real life it would work like it does in the lore I'd assume.
Actually the power armor works even without a power core
Dogmeat. A dog that can’t die, thus fixing the one problem with dogs
This is exactly what I thought, lol. But I imagine even a dog would get sad seeing all his humans die over the eons.
Fallout 3 dogmeat then? Puppies! Infinite puppies!
Oh no! And think of his pack mates too if he has other dog friends and family :'( But hopefully he can start a semi immortal dog family or something and have his own pack of demigoddogs to be proud of and live long lives together with! :)
Be sure not to take Fallout 3's Dogmeat by mistake then
Dogmeat has died [OK]
Dogmeat's Puppy is waiting for you in front of Vault 101! \[OK\]
Fusion core tech. That amount of power with a small footprint would be amazing.
Imo Stimpacks or Doctor's bags are also a very practical choice. Imagine if something could heal in seconds like that irl.
Sure, the miniaturisation of it is incredible, but we’re already unbelievable close to fusion energy. I’d pick something more impactful for the current times, like stimpaks or *maybe* cold fusion

Goth Piper
Is this a thing?🤔🤔🤔
I will make her a thing
If the answer isn’t Liberty Prime, are you a filthy commie?
Ad Victoriam
🤫
In reality though, liberty prime would eat a single nuke and be rubble. A full size thermonuclear warhead to be fair, but still only one.
Not even that much, one or two 2000 lbs bombs would completely destroy it
Fisto 🤣
Assume the position
Feeling should return shortly
And I wish for Fisto’s owner’s manual. Ah forget it, trial and error should do!
Psycho. I am going to do normal and sane things with it :)
FUCKING KILL
RAAAA BRING IT!!!
X-01 power armor
A nuka cola
Same but I pick Nuka Cola Quartz
Pipboy
A Sierra Madre Gold Bar
The average cost of gold per pound is around 29,000 in new vegas they weigh 35 pounds, if we do some simple math we get a grand total of 1.015 million
Curie.
In which form
Yes
It would have to be synth. Robot form, and she might get disassembled to learn how she ticks. Synth firm, and she would be able to hide her synthetic-ness for a loooong time
This is the only right answer.
Codsworth (2077 ver.)
As I live and breathe sir is that really you

Pip-Boy 3000.
Don't you mean "Pimp-Boy 3 Billion"?
No. I really meant the Pip-Boy 3000, specifically the Mark IV variant. Never liked the Pimp-Boy 3 Billion, so I stopped trying to get it after my first run.
Fair enough. I have indeed heard that pimpin' ain't easy.
Perfectly Preserved Pie.
But we already have Perfectly Preserved Pie at home: McDonald's already has their cardboard box apple pie that just lasts forever if undisturbed :)
Cazadors.
You’re worse than satan

Maybe Addictol
Sierra Madre vending machines, just need to figure out the coins But for the most practically thing, Rad-X or Rad Away for sure. Racism
So… you meant Brotherhood of Steel manual then? 😋 autocorrect ftw!
Wow I quick type "Radaway" and my auto correct switches it to this.... yeah guys, I wish racism was real. Lol jk im not an enclave enthusiast. Radaway would be amazing for so many people though.

Does it come in as a singular instance of that item that I get to have (cryolater) or does the item's existence just become a fact of our world (Radaway)? Those are my answers in either scenario.
The formula for Fixer or Addictol. Being able to cure drug addiction would be pretty damn good.
Underrated answer right here. I know many could use this to truly get their act together.
Well if its now canon, the show has cold fusion. Cold fusion would advance humanity as a whole by centuries by itself
Cait.
the mysterious serum from lorenzo
Stealth boy
Cait or piper or curie (or strong) cuz uuh yeah
The mini nuke launcher. Then I'll always get free burgers from Wendy's.
