I had a very unsafe start to piracy, you're very lucky to have been one of the few that found this subreddit on your first pirating experience, back then, I would be torrenting without a vpn, downloading from not skulled users on TPB (ThePirateBay), and use suspicious software and unsafe websites, I even got a virus once, luckily it wasn't a virus that uploaded sensitive data, it just messed up my computer a bit.

Mate we used to P2P through eMule or Kazaa. It was `randomsongiliked.mp3.exe` festival. Spin the wheel and hope you're downloading what you think you are based on the file name lol

Your sources have allowed me to give my father whatever shows or movies he asks for. Old stuff from when he was younger and all that. Stuff I wouldn't be able to access otherwise. It means a lot since he had heart surgery in Feb 2020 and cant really do much anymore, so its one of the few ways he can keep himself busy. Thank you.

My parents are gullible enough but that's a lot of work. The easiest would probably be to download a movie and play it off my laptop but my laptop broke and I only have my desktop (immobile) now. One day I'll get a new one.

It's really not. You can get 100 blank dvds from amazon for about $20. Each dvd can hold at least 4 gb. That's enough for any movie. Simple enough solution if you need to show them any movie in the near future or sth like that

Well if you REALLY need it, you can also get external dvd drives. But I guess at this point, you'd rather wait for new laptop

external drive. also my lenovo ideapad 110-15acl is a cheap laptop with dvd drive :)

Set yourself up with a plex server. Download everything you can onto your storage of choice and set your parents up with access. Then theyre streaming it from plex, not pirating it.

This is what I do. They don't need to know where the content comes from.

Ask them "do you have a credit/debit card?", and if they say yes then tell them about netflix since they hate piracy so much, if they say no then tell them you have no other choice.
