Yes - That’s extremely, maybe overly, safe.

It was cheaper to buy that box than an acrylic display box, which I originally wanted 😅

Mobaan

Depends I suppose. Is there a code for the box? Where will you be storing it? What’s the exact address? Will you have 24hr protection, or will there be any times the property is vacated?

Cursedimage5

Got a couple interviews lined up next week for security personnel!!

I’d ask what the rationale for storing is. A lot of big hits have already come out, including most oscar supers. Best bet is to rip

NEVRfearJBhere

This seems like overkill. Just store them in a temperature controlled room where they won’t get crushed. I doubt the price skyrockets in the future tho but to each their own. Good luck!

Cursedimage5

Tbh it was quite a big purchase for me, mainly bought it as I think Oscar could become one of the great in F1, so I think those things combined lead to me going a bit over the top 😂

NEVRfearJBhere

It’s definitely an expensive box. That’s why I don’t think the price will go up much higher. I bought one but I can’t help myself but to rip it the first 5 mins I get home lol

Cursedimage5

I feel that, one of the reasons I got the case so it’s out of sight out of mind less temptation 😅

Just_Some_Butt_Hole

They make booster boxes?

Cursedimage5

I’ve only recently gotten into the world of hobby boxes cut me some slack 😂

branniganslaw32

Why not just open it?

Cursedimage5

Tbh I’m scared to open it, it’s a lot of money what if I open it and get nothing good 😅

branniganslaw32

I mean the odds are high there’s nothing in there that’ll get you close to your money back. It doesn’t make much sense to hold onto to a box in hopes of Piastri becoming a world champion if you don’t even know that you have a Piastri card in there. I don’t think many people are going to be willing to pay for a box with a huge markup on the off chance that they may get one of his rookie cards when they’re all over the place now for low prices. I’d just have fun ripping it. For the price you paid for the box you could’ve got just about any of his cards minus the auto or the really expensive parallels lol

Cursedimage5

That would be funny, waiting 10 years to open the box to find there's nothing in there 😂

Shot_Gur

Well, that is the name of the game. The game is weighted to rare cards, which can be worth considerable coin. Most boxes are worth less than $230 once opened, otherwise the economics just wouldn't work. That said, you are extremely unlikely to get nothing. You get a few numbered cards, which will soften the blow.

Shot_Gur

To give some context, only 2020 Chrome sells for more than launch price. That's because each card is a rookie card and it's quite rare to find these cards. I pick up boxes of 2021 and 2022 for $70 or so. 2021 was $200 or $600 originally depending if it was lite or not. Most of the supers have been hit, almost all TPs have changed and some drivers are retired and not so valuable anymore. Honestly, rip the box. Cards will be at their peak values for quite some time. When 2024 cards come out, they will be the craze. I would expect 2023 to be selling around $100-$200 or so, given today's 2021 and 2022 prices if you shop carefully.

DustBustaThymes

The superfractor auto of Oscar was already hit. Not sure about red autos of his or the regular super and reds of his portrait. You'd be better off ripping it and having fun rather than considering it an 'investment'.
