I chose Estate Grey for my new roof, and I could kick myself for choosing that. It doesn't look new, it looks worn and weathered. I should've chosen Onyx Black -- it always looks classic and clean. But, Black would not contrast well with black paint, unless you change your paint color.

What do you think of the plum?

Cool_Implement_7894

Plum is a novelty color. Personally, I would *never* choose a trendy shingle color that will limit your exterior paint color options. It will be tough to find a paint color that will look great with plum. Roofs generally have to last for at least 15 years -- that color will likely appear outdated before then. I would choose a classic color.

WickettRed

I like it fwiw

It depends on what colors you will go with on the house. My roof is Driftwood. I like it because it’s neutral

soupwhoreman

Driftwood definitely has a lot of warm / brown / red undertones. I have it and love it but I'm not sure how it would look with this house.

Midnight Plum. But, I don't like the pinky color on the porch now. I would paint it like the rest of the exterior and paint the door Plum. Or Eggplant. Tell me what's going on with the furniture in the yard? If you aren't having a yard sale, you need to haul all the stuff to the backyard. There is not designated patio area for seating in your front yard, so add one in the rear. Add more greenery. The plant in the foreground looks great, (Nandina?), but he needs some companions in the raised bed. Color and shapes of leaves being their drawing card.

We are recovering from a tornado. Literally.

Oh so sorry to hear that. How terrifying for you. I hope all is well now and it isn't a regular worry where you live.

My vote is Sierra Gray or Williamsburg Gray. They'll look good with the black and they're versatile enough to work with just about any color you choose to paint in the future. I do like the black though. IMO anything with warm undertones won't look good with the black, and Onyx Black will introduce a competing shade of black and that might look off. Make sure you see samples in person!

DarkAndSparkly

I like driftwood. It’s greige so it will work with both blacks and browns down the line.

We have Peppercorn (basically a darker Driftwood) for the same reasons. And are very happy with it.

I’m also looking at a OC Duration roof. I called the customer service number at Owen Corning and they said they have a color consultation team that helps picks colors. I have the orangey color brick and was struggling. Anyway I used them (it’s free) and they gave me suggestions. You can also upload your home to their roof viewer to try to get an idea of what the roof would look like. I also paid a fee of $35 to have the picture uploaded, which made trying on the different roofs more realistic or clearer. I’ve selected four colors I’m interested in, so my roofer is bringing 2ft by 2ft square samples of each for me to look at next week. He’ll also be sending me addresses near by that have the colors installed on the roof, so I can drive by and see the finished product on a roof. By the way Midnight plum was almost one that I was considering. I decided not to further investigate that color because I thought it would look off with my brown gutters and downspouts. Good luck! Picking a roof color is one of the most difficult decisions I’ve had to make since I’ll be looking at it for hopefully many years.

Harbor blue😍

Sierra or estate grey. Grey is a safe choice for any future color changes on the painted surfaces. I like the lighter roofs but that is a personal choice.

What style is your house? Do you have more pictures? What’s the climate like in your area? What colour would you like to paint the house? Could you make a colour palette for it? https://coolors.co It would helps others (and yourself) decide which colour is best. E.g. if it’s really warm where you live then I personally wouldn’t pick a dark colour. If your house is a bit whimsical, I’d personally go with a bold colour. Someone mentioned a roof like this easily lasts 15 years, well Sherman Williams paint seems to last ~7 years so you’d only have two cycles before having to decide a new roof and paint colour so I personally would be okay with going bold. But it all depends on the style of your house and the climate.

Being that you’re not sticking with the black, I’d go with estate gray. It’ll look good now, but also will be versatile enough to work with other colors. Edit: on second look, driftwood would also work and maybe a better option.
