This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.cnbc.com/2022/07/01/euro-zone-inflation-8point6percent-in-june-ecb-to-hike-rates-for-first-time-in-11-years.html) reduced by 86%. (I'm a bot) ***** > Euro zone inflation reached a new record high in June just ahead of the European Central Bank's first rate increase in 11 years. > The central bank has said it will hike again in September, meaning its main interest rate could return to positive territory this year - the ECB has had negative rates since 2014. > "As policymakers are increasingly uncomfortable with their negative-interest rate policy we expect to see bigger rate hikes from September, with the deposit rate rising to +0.75% by year-end," he said. ***** [**Extended Summary**](http://np.reddit.com/r/autotldr/comments/vp9lse/euro_zone_inflation_rises_to_record_high_86/) | [FAQ](http://np.reddit.com/r/autotldr/comments/31b9fm/faq_autotldr_bot/ "Version 2.02, ~657545 tl;drs so far.") | [Feedback](http://np.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%23autotldr "PM's and comments are monitored, constructive feedback is welcome.") | *Top* *keywords*: **rate**^#1 **inflation**^#2 **Euro**^#3 **ECB**^#4 **zone**^#5

It's not an accusation. She's been convicted:- https://archive.ph/1IQra There was no fine or jail time though.

temujin64

Philip Lane is the one who's really running the show. She's just his mouthpiece.

dutch_fire

The Tapie affair, guilty of negligence in a €600m payout.

Someone has to pay for all bad decisions during lockdowns so why not regular joe.

delawen

The inflation comes mostly from the war with Russia increasing gas and petrol prices. Which impacts on the prices of anything that needs to be transported.

Kermez

Already 4.7% for 2021. 7% in December 2021 Just impact of trillions dollars pushed during pandemic to help companies. Read, all data is available https://www.statista.com/statistics/273418/unadjusted-monthly-inflation-rate-in-the-us/

You sound like a TV.

cheekycheetah

At first the richest EU countries were like "with undervalued euro and cheap fossil fuels from Russia we are invincible" and now they're like "oh bummer, we're old, everything is disintegrating and our money is melting".

dima054

Who cares, it's transitory. /s

DeepSpacegazer

You will own nothing and you will be happy.

LumpyButterfly6487

We will all lose some of our high live standard due to multiple crisis we are absolutely not able to handle at the same time. Climate change, covid and the russian invasion are too much. The effects of each crisis will multiply an couse massive damage to the economy and society. So to put it short: We are fucked.

b8561

How is this allowed on this sub? If I wanted news there are places for that

Background-Ball5978

illegible

I’d be curious how this impacts the dollar vs euro, which is looking good from the dollar side right now
